Hello guys,
i wonder if any of us are working on a CyanogenMod for the Atrix2, it is a great device but the lack of language support is killing it for international users.
Please move to general.
until we get the bootloader unlocked they can't work on CM7 or CM9 because it has a different kernel and right now we can't change it.
Agreed please move to general

but if you want language support i think this can be done by MODing a deoxeded rom .

I am working on porting over the last build of CM from the droid X that was released from cyanogenmod team.
I am hoping to port that over and have some people testing it by end of the week. I already have 5 or so people named to test this out, so don't ask just yet, next week, I will let the flood gates open for beta testers though.
Note: we can run the ROM, just not the kernel and any of the other great hacks, hence why I chose the droid X version to port, since they also have a locked bootloader.

I will take a look at this patch and see what I can do. I will PM you if I have any questions, or concerns, since I am not sure of the whereabouts of this patch, or it's connection to the cyanogenmod team, because their ROMs are very complicated due to the kernel that they use.
This batch was used on many some OG Atrix roms . i would really appreciate if you can implement it in your rom ( all i need is a rooted stock rom with that patch ) CM7 and CM 9 and ICE cream sandwish has native arabic support
feel free to pm my any time

Do your research, Misinformation gets us no where. It is possible to have both cm7 and cm9 on our current kernel. It just involves "More" work. Firstly we need a 2nd-init system. See links below. And i'm working on and off on cm9 I have also messaged various rom developers that have managed to port said roms to other moto devices with a locked bootloader. Not having the bootloader unlocked is not the end of the world, just takes more creative dev's.

You can do it without the kernel, but you will not get all the goodies that come with it. I am working off the one that was done for the Droid X, that did not use the cyanogenmod kernel. I have already run it on my phone, and it is a little buggy, but I am working on fixing that right now. It was not an easy feat though, I do have to say, and it is not the ICS version either.

After figuring out that 2nd-init things have gotten so much cooler! I'm working off the d3 bc the chipset is almost identical.
Since the RZR is a international phone how hard would it be borrowing the languages from the GSM version of it?
Here is the Arabic one for Razr http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1407615
It would be great if you can use this to make Arabic enabled stock version for our Arabic ignorant cool Atrix 2

Hello guys,
first of all, sorry about opening a new thread about this, but I cant reply in developer threads, since I dont have 10 posts, and Im not going to spam just to get it, so here we go:
- I am an android app developer
- I do test apps on this Desire S, just to have a look how they work on ICS
- this is my private phone as well
- I neither rooted a phone on my own, nor flashed a rom(except the official Desire S RUU thingie, but that is just pressing next etc)
- for me, stability > all, including speed, and battery life
- except the speed of the official ICS, I like the stock rom just how it is
Im getting tired of how slow the official ICS upgrade can be on my Desire S, tho I can live with it, but if I can have the same, or maybe even better stability, while gaining performance, why wouldn't I change? My question is: should I upgrade with a custom rom, given the previous infos about my preferences? I was looking 2 roms, which got me for the first:
- ICE DS
- Fallout Evolution
I would prefer Sense 3.6, so ICE DS sounds better, but I am open for Sense 4.0 as well.
So once more, what do you think, should I upgrade? Will the performance significantly increase? Will the stability remains the same(at least)? In case you say I should, which one of the previous roms would you recommend? Or any other rom? And what is the exact process, what I should do? Just few words will do, I can manage to look up guides/tutorials, just show me the path.
Thanks in advance, cheers
You may try Ice Cream Saga. As its currently the only rom as of now to be based on the official ics for the desire s, afaik.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
i got a ruu for the desire s from the htc dev center you just have to search there site for it but i ran it on an unmodified desire s that was on its original o2 rom and it worked so i have now got Android 4.0.4 and sense 3.6 and ive found it stable and more then fast enough for me but i dont do a lot of gaming. give it a try it might work and its official but i cant promise ya it will work for ya tho
Little misunderstanding there, I do use the stock ICS for Desire S, what I downloaded from HTCdev, the ruu one. So yea, my question was, is it worth to change for one of the custom roms, mentioned already, but I will provide links now, just to make sure this time:
- ICE DS ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567715 )
- Fallout Evolution ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679125 )
Once more, the question is: I use the RUU ICS upgrade from HTCdev already, so I have ICS already, but, is it worth to change to ICE DS or Fallout Evolution? Is it as stable as the stock rom, and is it faster? Thanks!
bump
I think the latest version of ice_ds is good, Fallout is very stable and quite fast, sabsa prime is faster, but possibly less stable, ice cream saga is based on the official ruu with only performance tweaks.
It's hard to say what would work best for you, I think you would have to try 2 or 3 and then decide. I do think it would be worth it, especially as having a custom recovery installed allows you to make complete backups of the current Rom, that can be restored if you try something different and don't like it.
---------- Post added at 10:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:29 PM ----------
Process:
Unlock bootloader,
Install custom recovery
Now you can backup, restore, flash custom Rom etc. in recovery.
(something optional worth considering: downgrading hboot to attain s-off, you'll see why that might make sense )
Guides and information about the above steps should be easily found in the forum.
Thanks, I guess it is testing time then

I have seen many sense rom ports put out that are on ics, or sense 3.5 and higher, for the shift with none having 4g working. None of these seem to have come from other sprint HTC devices except the og EVO. Is it possible to try using a 3d or 4g LTE rom that has 4g working and port it to the shift or are their files incompatible? Trying to figure this out so we can have 4g on the higher end roms with sense. Thanks
*btw I am sure this has been tried, but you never learn without asking questions*
Sent from my PG06100 using xda app-developers app
I haven't tried sense 3.6 or higher yet because of how much work they are. A couple of people more talented than I have tried and moved on to other projects. We do have some extreemly good sense ROMs with working 4g already. newSENSE, newRUNNY, MikRUNNY, MikShiftedG, Supreem Sense just to mention a few.
From what I've seen, I think most of the problem is that the complexity of the file structures increase as you go higher. It becomes more tedious and difficult to first find all the dependent files, and then to even try to get them to work with each other how they are meant to.
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
I have tried all the roms you mentioned Chad, currently running mikshifted g. I tried porting it with a ROM from the 4g LTE but got stuck in a boot loop. Haven't had the chance to try different kernals with it.

One thing I've been doing is to use the same sense version in my base as the port. 3.0 to 3.0 or 3.5 to 3.5 etc. (these run on gingerbread) I have been consistantly unable to figure out how to port something to the shift we don't already have like 4.0 (that runs on ics). There is a big difference between gingerbread and ics.
Yeah, I know that platypus has a ROM for the shift that is sense 4.0 and ics but only basic stuff works on it and I don't think he is working on it anymore. The guys at evervolv, mainly preludedrew, have a jb ROM with everything working except 4g, but I just prefer sense over aosp stuff.
Sent from my PG06100 using xda app-developers app
I forgot to mention that I also only work on deodexed ROMs. As I learn more I am hopeing to be able to help bring 4.0 to the Shift but the sense ics ROMs I've looked at are all to big. The shift's limited to 512mb of space. My first attempt at a sense 3.6 had the system folder at 588mb. :banghead:

I never thought of the space part of the ROM. I wonder if getting rid of a lot of the standard .apk's that are included within the ROM would help the size of it. Then could just download what apps you feel are needed and move them to the sd card if they are able to be moved, or if somehow can get a2sd working within the ics rom itself.
The problem as I was looking at it was that I don't know what apks need to be in the system folder and what do not. Some are obvious but not all of them are. I put that project on the back burner and will go back to it later.

I am going to try comparing some things to see if I might get a sudden spark of genius lol. Doubt that anything will come from it but you never know until you try it. I am going to look into a sense 3.0 rom, a sense 3.6 rom, and a sense 4.0 rom and compare what files are where etc... As I said I doubt anything will come from it but you never know until you try.

There are several but here is onehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799376
Any particular reason why you like this one or are you just longing for sense 4.0 goodness? I want it too. Thats one reason I've been tring to learn to port sense is to work my way to that. There is a guide in wiki on creating your first kernel. Maybe I should shift gears in that direction? I don't know.

I don't believe we need one for their ROMs, just a reflash of a skyrocket based kernel over the according ROM is all

That's what I thought but I used a liquid smooth ROM and every time u go on the net or in an app! If u hold it strait it will turn to the right and if u turn it to the right it will go strait. Weird cause now I'm on aokp unofficial from t989 and everything works fine.
But I really wanted to be on liquid smooth by android88. I've had other ROMs with that same issue...
Sometimes it needs more than just a kernel. If you put the lib "lib.akm " into system/libs, that should fix the rotate issue. Be sure to fix permissions.

Also video maybe borked when rotated. But naturally I forgot how to fix that.
Hello Everyone,
For the better part of the past 6 months I have rooted my phone and tried multiple roms trying to find one that I like. I think I have found one in ViperTouch 2.1.4 however I am having a minor issue with it. The WiFi keeps dropping in and out and is pretty much unusable.
I rooted my device with Clockworkmod and installed CM7, CM10 and Dark Unicorn Resurrected roms and then finally just last week moved to ViperTouch. To do the install I simply downloaded ViperTouch 2.1.3 and update to 2.1.4. Then I booted into clockworkmod and used a wipe script I had from previous installs to wipe everything, rebooted into recovery again and installed ViperTouch. Once it booted up I updated to version 2.1.4 by going into the recovery again. Doing this I had 2 active issues namely, screen flickering and WiFi connectivity. So I downloaded kernel 3.0.57 (cheng) and installed it.
I am not worried about the screen flicker but I would like to get my WiFi working on a normal basis. I have searched the forums and seen that many of them installed the kernel again and WiFi was back to normal but it hasn't worked for me when I went from kernel 3.0.40 to 3.0.57.
Any ideas to get this working are truly appreciated.
Thanks

Just to update anyone who is viewing this thread, I don't believe the Wi-Fi issues have anything to do with ViperTouch.
I tried different Kernels (3.0.4, 3.0.39, 3.0.57, 3.0.66 and 3.0.69) but they all had the same issue of Wi-Fi dropping all day long. So I wiped the device back to ViperTouch 2.1.3 and the issue continued. Next step I reverted back to the stock app and it doesn't even connect to my Wi-Fi (other devices do). So I guess my HTC Glacier MyTouch 4g is dead when it comes to Wi-Fi.

Naa man, you shouldn't say that. Try AOSP roms, they work perfectly fine. Coderzs SlimBean (4.2.2) is a good one! Or you could try Synthetic.Nighmare's AOSP (4.0.4), I can't find any bugs in Synthetic's AOSP rom.

If you don't mind spending some money I recommend PowerAmp. Its the best music player I have ever used (And trust me I've used a lot). The equalizer paired with DSP manager = best sound ever lol. And I do think it has an widget.
Other players that are free are Apollo, and that comes built in; in a lot of roms.
