I don't know if you already fixed it, but a guy named Desire Fanatics did a video on how to unroot and S-ON. I didn't post 8 posts yet, so i cant link it, but if you search for him on Youtube, you should be able to find the video. It's one of his most recent. Remember to watch the comments, because if i recall correctly, some people had some kind of error show up. I don't think they meant anything though.

That tutorial works well as long as all you've done is rooted and S-off'ed. But if you've been using Custom ROMs, especially those that are ports from newer HTC phones, the tutorial lacks instructions regarding changing the Misc_version before using the RUU (at least that was the case the last time i checked). That can get you an error and stop the process midway, with a screwed up system. So tread carefully. Remember, you need to address both the CID and the Misc_version before an RUU upgrade is succesfully done.
Hi all,
I just got a new Desire S curtisy of O2 in the uk and noticed the HBOOT of 2.00.0002 which is not listed by the Revolutionary 0.4Pre4.
I was just wondering if there was another way or unless im missing somehing obvious.
Thanks in advance
You need to downgrade and then use revolutionary.

The problem is, It doesnt download. ANd when i change it to another option it still does sweet FA.
Is there anywhere else download this, Specificully, the all other phones option?
THanks for help and heres to the next annoying captcha

Its gone from locked to unlocked but isnt it meant to say S-OFF, not S-ON?
THe main problem though is i've loaded REAPER 2.2 Mod with the 2.21 upgrade but it seems to get stuck on a boot loop while booting up
Any idea's?
SOrry for noob questions, I've never done this myself as i got a friend to do it before. ANd thanks for the help
Dude, you have just unlocked the boot loader.
HTC dev unlock process will not give you S-off, also can cause some warranty issues (don't be disheartened)
Now you need to download a custom recovery and flash it via fastboot.
I would recommend 4ext touch.
Then flash any custom ROM. The guide should have all the details.

I've done that, i used 4EXT_Recovery_v2.2.7_RC5.zip and thats ok. I cleared caches, Changed from 3EXT to 4EXT and then installed REAPER 2.2 then used update 2.2.1 over the top.
So i have 4EXT Recovery installed! I installed the ROM (off SDCARD) with this program and when i reboot it goes into a Boot Loop graphic and stays there.
4EXT Recovery Touch is just a touchscreen version of the one i used no?

Maybe a slightly naive question......but I obviously need to downgrade my HBOOT to achieve S-OFF on the phone via the Rev method.
Can I restore my HBOOT version back to 2.00.0002 without running another RUU through it or is there another method.
My MIUI ROM works OK under 2.00.0002 should expect problems if it it runs under an earlier version ?

As its S-OFF I'm kinda hopefully that it can be recovered.
The phone will boot into the bootloader but not into recovery and I can't see the device from adb.
Is the next step to install an RUU? How do I know which one to install?
First flash a custom recovery.
Then change the hboot.
Finally use the proper RUU
All details about these 3 steps can be found in the INDEX thread in the Development section.

Don't think you need to flash an hboot, just flash a new recovery and install any custom you like from there
RUU cannot overwrite the 6.98.x hboot. It has to be replaced. Try 0.98.2000, there is a thread with instructions in the INDEX. Use the one-click solution

This guide is for users with S-OFF hboot (if you are not sure, check it - power on your DesireS holding volume down button). If you have S-ON hboot, first search for an adequate guide on "how to S-OFF" topic (maybe this one will help), apply it and then come back.

Few hints (tweaks and bug fixes) for offical ICS rom:
-Install amidabuddha's Tweaked3 8.6 [3.0.43] kernel.
-App crashes when you click on a link.
Edit build.prop file. Search for ro.da1.enable=true in the file, set it to false and then add this line right after it: ro.da1.method=false
-Change default setting to turn WiFi off when phone is locked.
Change it to always on. It reduces power consumption. You can find this option in advanced WiFi settings.

Oke your S=off, you got recovery (and superuser? you need it).

read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186401

It's not necessary to flash a ENG bootloader. Some say that not all busybox and SDK commands
work with SHIP bootloaders. If've run a SHIP bootloader my self and could use all the busybox
and SDK commands.
To place or remove software from the root you need a explorer with root acces. The one I use
is X-plore (play store) its free. First always make an nandroid backup in case!
Good luck

The risk comes during the processes you have already carried out - getting S-Off and root. Installing a custom ROM now is simple and doesn't really carry any risk at all. Just take a Nandroid backup of your default ROM before doing anything else.
If there isn't any risk from installing a custom rom then I don't see why not to.
I have completed a Nandroid backup and have copied it to the computer as well and will be installing a custom rom.
Is it necessary to flash radios at any time when installing different roms?

The normal recommendation is only to flash a new radio if you are having problems with the existing one. Some ROMs do have a "preferred radio" listed, but that is usually because that is the radio that the Dev has tested on.
Will this method work fine to install a custom rom and is there anything else I should know that isn't mentioned here?

Should be fine looking at it. I much prefer 4EXT as a recovery - touch input and everything - but the basic premise is the same. Wipe everything, flash ROM from .zip file, flash correct GApps (if not included), boot, wait, play ...
