[Q] Rooting SGS2 GT-i9210

I just got a brand new SGS2 GT-i9210 from sweden. After unsimlocking it, it perfectly works on our experimental 4G (2.6Ghz) network in France.
I tried to root it, but the zergrush doomlord rootkit v4 does not work properly, it ends with the "Hellions with BLUE flames" error.
I used this rootkit with different SGS2 4G/LTE smartphone and never had problem, it always worked.
I was just wondering if someone could help me to root this GT-i9210...

I'd love to get into this as soon as I've got rid of the Tele2 simlock on my i9210. Any tips on reliable unlock code providers for this phone?

I don't dare to belive you.
The root method you refer to in your link is for models sold on the US market, in Europe this model is branded GT-I9210 (EU) and is similar, but not identical to the models in US or Canada.
I have followed a Swedish thread where people has used this method, but many of them has bricked their phones....
The whole process works fine through all steps until rebooting.
The back key and the menu key stops working.
I wish somebody could fix a reliable root method for GT-I9210.

I'm the guy who wrote that post on Whirlpool. I have a pair of GT-I9210Ts, both of which are now rooted using CWM and superuser.zip.
Note that this doesn't actually CHANGE anything on the phone. So it's not going to brick it. All it does is install CWM, and then uses CWM to install superuser.zip. I can't possibly see how it's possible to brick the phone doing this.

Yep, I did this today. The phone's back and menu buttons aren't working. I tried installing softkeys from the Market but still no go. Is there a solution to this problem?

That's.. very very strange. Someone else reported it, but I have no idea why this happened. You're not touching ANYTHING to do with the buttons. All you're doing is updating the recovery.img and then installing a package. I've rooted three phones now, and haven't had that problem.

I've put a bunch of recovery information on that ocau post (linked above). Have a run through that. If you're NOT using a Telstra phone, I'm unsure where you're going to find the correct roms though 8-\

The method you have posted is one I have already tried, 2hrs after getting my phone from Telstra. Back button and Menu buttons blank out and no longer work.
No one should use this method until it is specifically tried and tested for the phone.
EDIT: Just to assist you a bit further with the method.
- A full factory reset was completed, not working.
- Telstra firmware downloaded, installed, factory reset, not working.
- Dialled *#*#2663#*#* - Selected Touch Key F/W to upgrade, not working.
----- Phone F/W was marked as 0x4, Part F/W was 0x0.
I believe this was the issue, the fact that there was a number mismatch.

It's in Portuguese. Translate with Google. A friend of mine did root gt-i9210. I've used this method to root mine.

In my case the keys stopped working after flashing first time a kernel with cwm recovery. The phone also didn't boot anymore. The kernel itself was backuped with the very same cwm.
Before I flashed the kernels with odin and also with "dd" command. No problems with the keys.
Based on these things I got the feeling that there could be something wrong with cwm.
I could not fix it so far.

I'm not sure whether my post would be valid any longer on a thread more than a year old.
Anyway, if someone needs a pre-rooted version of the latest stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 XXUAMF1 COV (GT-I9210), they can do so from this thread, post #4:

You're going to need to provide more detail if you expect any help:
1. What ROM? (for all we know that can be either CM9 or CM10/10.1)
2. What method did you use? You mentioned a method but provided no link.
If you think that you did all the steps correctly, sometimes you just need to wait it out. First boot does take a long time.

Or could be a simple thing like a corrupt download of the rom zip. As you still can go to your recovery, your phone's safe. You can redownload the rom (confirm the size after download) or try another rom. Next time, better to keep a nand backup of your working rom through your recovery, for emergencies like this.

[Q] Touchscreen does not work at all after flashing wrong ROM

Hello everyone.
I have an Alcatel One Touch 908F running Android 2.2.2 that I chose to root and install a 2.3 ROM since no official update was released and it had a lot of advantages that I really need. I successfully rooted it with VROOT, install a CWM 5.0.2.7 recovery and flashed two custom ROMs based on 2.2.2 (the one for Alcatel One Touch 908S WIND, and the one for Alcatel One Touch 908Q T-Mobile) just for testing.
Both successfully worked with no problems at all (except the fact that Back, Home and Menu changed their places but it was fixed by flashing a tool that I found on this forum - Thank you so much, developers!) so I wanted to flash a 2.3 ROM, but I didn't realize that it wasn't approprite (It was only for Alcatel One Touch Telenor, and the worst: it wasn't told in the instructions!). I knew it when, once my phone booted for the 1st time, it showed the "Telenor" logo reversed on top, and white lines at the bottom of the screen. So I reverted back to my stock ROM using a backup made with CWM.
I got the stock ROM again. Only now, neither the touchscreen nor the lighting Home, Menu and Back keys are working! Hitting the screen acts like hitting the Menu button!
I tried many ROMs, and it didn't work. Well, the good thing is that I still have root access, USB debugging enabled and CWM 5.0.2.8 recovery.
I'm really desperate. My phone is out of warranty. Is my phone really as useful as a brick, now? I hope it isn't. Can you help me, please? I urgently need my phone to work again because I can't afford to buy a new one or repair it! Is there any software that can bring my only smartphone back to life? Shall I switch to TWRP recovery? Which ROM shall I flash?

I found out that the problem can be solved by flashing the stock kernel which contains the original touchscreen drivers needed to make it work again, but I couldn't find the file. Can anyone upload it for me, please? If this is not the right way,

Flash everything ( including ROM , boot.img etc. ) created for your device . It will solve the problem .
As a warning, don't flash other device's firmware , until you became a porter or using an Android one :sly:

[Completed] [Q] Htc One M8 System Ui has stopped

Im on TWRP recovery, and in the recovery menu i accidentally wiped internal sd, and now when i flash a new Rom, after it installs an i get through the typical new phone start up process, i get a message that says, Unfortunatley system ui has stopped, and another one that says htc dot view has stopped. And then when i get to my home screen i have no Status bar or navigation bar (soft keys) and my homescreen is just a black background. I can still access my apps but cant go back because there is no soft keys. I went into my settings, to my apps, and when i went to system ui to try clearing the cache its greyed out and saying "computting" forever. What do i do? I have a htc one m8 T mobile US with unlocked bootloader and S-On. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks

Hello, and welcome to XDA! I assume you've tried more than one rom? It could be a problem with the rom... If not, I would consider reflashing stock firmware to put the phone back to normal, and only then flash a new rom. For help flashing firmware you could look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376. Also, if you register, you can post to ask for further help in that thread or in the help forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help.

Thanks for the response and the links. I tried looking on there and all i see is downloads for backups and firmwares. Is there a direct link you can give me to a tutorial to flash a stock firmware?

Bricked Huawei Ascend G300 - Need help from you guys

Hello everyone,
i've run into a big problem that i can't the solution for.
I've wanted to unroot phone so i can delete some random apps which were preinstalled, like traffic manager and so. So i found somewhere link for rooting and unlocking bootloader. I rooted the phone and deleted the app Traffic Manager, but i also think i accidentely unlocked bootloader which since then caused BOOT LOOP.
Nothing woudn't work, except VOLUME + - and power button, which would force firmware install from micro sd card. I was spending 2 days finding my version for 2.3.6, and it was b896 or b892. I coudn't find any of those 2, so i tried the B952 for ICS (4.0.3 android system), and it worked somehow.
But now the problem is touchscreen in that system won''t work at all (touchscreen is working in general, i can see that by the light dimm), and when i go in recovery mode there is option to update touchscreen firmware ?? I can't seem to find anyone on internet who had that problem or needed that update for touchscreen. How to fix this issue?
Update: I found that the original rom is this: HUAWEI_Ascend_G300_firmware(U8815_Android_2.3_V100 R001C00B892CUSTSRBC128D001_Serbia-Telenor_05011ATB)
But problem is i still can't find any working links, does anyone have it by accident ?
