Runnymede Xtreme V2 vs Runnydroid 5.1 - HTC Desire S

hi, how will you compare these two roms against eachother?

This has been discussed too many times now...
So many thread on this. There is no 'better' one. Its just the one that suits your needs the best will be the better one for you.
I think one of the Runnymede Extreme has the swipe notifications though. That's a good feature, but doesn't determine whether the ROM is better or not.

what is the difference between sense 3.0 and 3.5? and which one was on the stock sensation 4g?
3.0 came on sensation 4g
i think that we needed a new platform to support these new senses 3.0 and 3.5
InsertCoin is the best ROM for the Sensation hands down. Performance and battery life is outstanding.

This is funny!
I would say you try by yourself and decide for yourself, Everyone has different opinions and will probably give you their own personal perspective.
You might have a different opinion and like something else or maybe not. just flash the most used ones and see if you like them and go from there.

I agree with this guy here as opposed to the other two members. I've tried BOTH roms listed and they're basically the same. Just very ever so slightly different. I used to use ARHD but then I started using other roms because Mike doesn't update his often. InsertCoin gets updated pretty good but I experience issues once in a while (it's nothing severe though) and it's not a bad rom at all. I'm using bulletproof though because I love all the mods he adds on. It's really up to you, gotta try and find out what you want and like.
Agree that it's up to you to try, test, tune, etc what's best for your needs & likes! Take a deep read in the Development section...happy flashing!
CM7 is the best rom on sensation by far.
CM7.

I started using custom ROMs with my G1 and CyanogenMod. I stuck with that exclusively for a really long time through different devices. Since it has taken a while for CM to come out on the Sensation, I started flashing all kinds of different ROMs. That's the beauty of Android and XDA. You can try all kinds of stuff out and decide what you like the best. I currently use Android Revolution HD 4.1.3 (Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.5) with the Amaze camera. I'll use this until a stable version of CM comes out with a better camera. I also use ADW.Ex launcher. This works for me for now because it has a really nice camera, but I've tried a TON of ROMs. Whatever you do, ALWAYS search for answers, use the appropriate forums (General, Q&A, Themes & Apps) properly, and have fun.

Cm7. If I want a sense buzz I'll go with bulletproof 2.15. You can't beat those tweaks.

I checked the following thread and made my decision: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200118
I don't want to give recommedations since there are a couple of awsome mods floating out there...
If you like Sense and eye pleasing colours and animations go with CoreDroid. Wipe battery stats when you flash a new rom (made a big difference for me).

ROMs - the best of

Which roms are the best and must be tested ?
I need your opinion.
ARHD, no doubt.
i cannot tell you which rom is the best one, all of our devs are awesome, and it is rude for us to compare roms.
i am using coindroid now, and it is really great.
They're all differently catered to each users own needs, really. Personally, I'm always torn between whether or not I want Sense or not. So i've moved between Elegancia 4.0 and Virtuous Inquisition. I enjoy the ablitity to have standard ICS, because it's definitely a bit quicker in some instances. I sometimes get better battery life, and the menus aren't cluttered with two settings (one for sense, one for ICS.) Sense is very good looking, however. The Widgets set your phone apart and its hard to beat the aesthetics of Sense.
That being said, I've used ARHD and to suggest it is anything but fantastic is foolish. Great battery life, great customization, very stable.
The devs here are great and they all bring something to the table.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
There really isn't a best or worse Rom. They all have pros and cons. Some are more popular than others. Some people like sense, and some more AOSP like. 3.6 sense Roms are more stable than 4.0. Aosp like roms are faster and more battery friendly, but they are also more bland in my opinion (I like sense). Most of the 3.6 Roms are pretty stable and efficient. ARHD is great and stable and with lots of support, and it is also the most popular one and it is not themed at all (looks just like stock). The one I'm using now is Elegancia which is also great and stable with great support and heavily themed look that I for one enjoy. Insertcoin (also good) has the stock look but has some additional mods like Leedroid tweaks and battery percentage. These three are probably the most popular ones.
Like I said there really isn't a better or worse. It comes down to what you want and like.
right now i`m using virtuous inqusition . Is a great rom, nothing bad yet.

No offense meant to the op but I really hate these kind of threads. Besides the fact that there are approx. a billion and one threads with the same question, there is never an answer. Everybody likes different things and everybody will recommend what they themselves use. Personally I've got no use for ARHD but tons of people seem to like it. I've tried AOKP roms and like them but I actually miss having Sense so currently I'm on InsertCoin.
Try it all, that's what each and every one of these "what is the best..." threads ends up with. And just a suggestion for anybody else considering a "what's the best rom" thread....maybe use search and add to one of the already started threads?

I've been using Insert Coin for a while til I shifted to CoinDroid recently to check Sense 4 out. I suggest InsertCoin with Sense 3.6. But you have to try all to choose what is best for you
Try a few is the best for u...happy flashing!
Only you can decide which is the best rom for you, but I would recommend Insert Coin for Sense 3.6, and Ordoid for Sense 4.0. Although there are still bugs with all sense 4.0 roms atm, like you cant send files over bluetooth atm.
I use OpenSensation, very good ROM

These threads are always very subjective.. everyone will say that a particular ROM is better and everyone else will argue with that.

Best &fast Rom on sensation

Help guys please I need fast Rom and very stable on sensation
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Try a few out and see what you think but personally I like lightning Rom, its fast and stable. Every one has different opnions when it comes to these things so I highly highly recommend you try several out for yourself to form your own opinion. I personally like lightning because it is very fast and very stable and has customizations and over the air updates that don't require a computer to flash when a upgrade comes. Also your notified when a mod or upgrade is available which is nice because not everyone has the time to search to see if a update is available. The instructions for updating are on page one of development. I have had no force closes or reboots or freezes.it is sense 4 Also it comes with the newest sense 4.5 camera and burst mode works properly! These are some personal reasons I choose lightning.however I still suggest you try out several so you can form your own opinion.this is what I did. I've tried almost all ics roms. However everyone is different and opinions differ . It all depends on what you want personally. I wanted something fast yet stable with customizations. So again try several then make your decision.we are lucky to have different options for different tastes. I really hope this helps. Happy flashing!

Is all a matter of opinion but yes in benchmark scores lightning is faster than viper.at least it was in the benchmark I took. But give both a try and form your own opinion. Is always best to try out for yourself and to see which Rom is best suited for you're needs. People are different and opinions are very different so take a look and try them out for yourself. I'm sure you will find what meets your needs. With so many great roms to choose from! Best of luck to you! Happy flashing

You should probably send him over to the Endeavor forum to increase his choices. He can flash one of theirs and tell us how it worked out

You don't want to stray out of this set of forums. International one x roms could easily brick your phone.

Sorry I could not resist. Back to being a good boy now.
Until we get the kernel source for the 4.0.4 I think sense 4.1 based roms are going to give the best performance and battery life. I do prefer aosp based roms but what is the point if you end up sacrificing all the things that aosp roms are supposed to give you just to get away from sense.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yea I ended up going with aokp 4.0.4 and well after a day I actually missed some things from sense so went back to my backup
I think the reason I was skeptical of sense was because of touchwiz on my old skyrocket
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
What ROM did you decide on? I flashed pretty much all the available ROMs for our phone and found myself coming back to CleanROM 4.5. The CleanMODS definitely adds value and it's very good on battery too. Usually get about 16hours of moderate use and she's down to about 35% at the end of the day.
Also, Sense 4.0/4.1 is much better than any of the other OEM skins (TouchWIZ, Blurr, etc..) as it's the most intuitive of all the skins. Prefer it to AOSP Android now because it's just as snappy with so much functionality included. Ran AOSP ROMs on my old DZ because Sense 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.5 were all crap and bloated; as soon as Sense 4.0 came out, it was like HTC finally got the message.
+1 for CleanRom.
Do your homework. The ScottsRoms CleanRom 4.5 DE had everything I wanted and nothing else to bog it down.
I'm also an APEX believer now for the fact that it restored my desktop after an upgrade.

ROM for elders

Im planning to maybe pass on my sensation to my 67-year-old father. It would be his first smartphone as well as first touchscreen one.
The issue is, that my father is not an expert in electronics by far (barely knows how to read and write text messages). His old phones have been plain nokias (yeah the legendary ones) and such. Also his fingers are very thick (about the size of a billiard stick).
Alas what do you think would be the best ROM to suit him?
What im looking for is a simple interface, easy to use, and something that has good batterylife (he often forgets to charge his phone)
Trying out different ROMs isnt that simple to him because if he learns to use one function of a ROM then it will be difficult to adjust to a different ROM that functions differently.
So what do you suggest?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
How about virtuous inquisition,? It is senseless, stable, excellent battery life, no frills, Rom. I personally think that would be a excellent choice for seniors. He won't have any problems with it. Hope this helps. I know if I gave my mom a Rom , I likely would choose this for her. This way he won't be burdened with problems or battery drain .I think this is the best choice. Best wishes .
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
That might be a good solution
Im currently running Bruces CM10 kang and I think its a little bit too complex

VI is my favorite stable ROM but I'd have to say that MIUI is the best ROM for an elderly person. The large icons, the simplicity, really everything is much easier on it except for the browser (download dolphin instead).
Good luck

I think it is opposite. Gb is easier than Ics..also as CM7...If you install CM7 you can install launcherpro or other launcher, and resize big icons on your preferances. i think that ics has much "rigid" interface than cm7.
ics has incorporated those bloatware "beasts" like tweeter, facebook chat,gtalk...etc. etc...so you should think to remove them from rom before installation.just to avoid sporadic popups and notifications that could confuse him...CM7 does not have it. (and it is noot needed to have).
I recommend Hypersensation CM7 .
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a stock looking Sense Rom like ARHD would be suitable for elders. Sense widgets are pretty user friendly, setup a coupe of home screens (not the default 7). I think that would work. That's whhat I would do if I had to give an android phone to my parents.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk 2
If you are going the MIUI route, gb/ics/jb are practically all similar. From my experience ICS had over 20hour battery where GB had like 12hour so you might want to look into that as well.
I'd go back to stock or install hypermiui (by far the most battery efficient)
