I have a similar issue on a stock Desire S (purchased 2 months back). I have given it to the Service Centre, and they have told that the screen needs to be changed (completely hardware issue).
Previously, I had done reboots, soft resetted and hard resetted it. Also, had unmounted SD card (somewhere I had read, that faulty SD card or formatting it, helps sometimes in freeze issues). But to no avail.
My exact issue: The phone started to not respond to the back and menu key intermittently (for few secs or 1 min), then the time has gradually increased. I can pull down the menu everytime, but the lower fourth of screen (including the soft keys) is affected. It has got no relation to charging status or any app (htc/google/third-party).

Your digitizer could be busted. Best to have it looked over but the service centre if a faulty charger is not the problem and ot occurs even when not charging.
Sent from a phone waiting for kernel v3. Wake up HTC!!

Sensation screen not responding

Hi all,
I've had my HTC sensation for about 9 months. I've flashed the phone twice with HD revolution roms. The last flash was conducted about a month ago and is currently running version 3.6.1. Around 2 days ago the phones screen, short cut keys below the screen, power button and volume stopped responding. Upon rebooting the phone the screen and all buttons will respond perfectly normal however. It is only when you turn the screen off or it goes into sleep state automatically after the reboot the screen, shortcut keys, power and volume buttons stop responding again when powered back on. After this the phone needs to have the battery taken out and rebooted before anything can be used again. In this state the phone is completely useless, only being able to be used once the phone has been rebooted and the screen must be prevented from going into a sleep state.
The last form of any sort of software update I can remember before the problem began occuring was updating facebook
I have not tried super wiping and reflashing a new rom yet.
If anyone could suggest something it's highly appreciated.
Regards,
Samuel
I've had the phone quoted by a repairer saying the touch screen needs to be replaced but I don't see how this can be so.
It works perfectly fine on initial boot. It also doesn't explain why all the other buttons cease to work.
Hi Samuel,
by the sound of it I'd say your touchscreen is working fine, I think its more likely that your Android OS has got screwed up a bit at some point. If it was mine I'd do a nandroid backup of your currunt OS, and then superwipe and reflash a fresh installation of ARHD on it. If that doesnt work you can always go back to the nandroid backup you make.
Probably be worth waiting to see what some other XDA members think though.
Good luck with it.
You might check your SD-card for errors.

[Q] One X button not turning screen on

Hi,
I have an AT&T One X and it's having this problem of seeming to shut itself off or having the screen not turn on by using the button, but the notification light flashes. When it happens, I can only get it back by a hard reset. Sometimes, when it's happens, the screen freezes while using it and it'll restart. No error shows after restart. I am on 1.85 and I have never rooted it. It's stock and I don't use a case. The phone is not warm or anything when it happens and it sometimes goes 24 hours before it occurs, sometimes not.
I have done a complete factory restore and it still is happening.
I can't use a phone that will just stop working at random.
Does anyone have any ideas? I have contacted HTC and so far the things they've suggested, I've already done (soft reset, hard reset etc)
Thanks!
Try using the stock ruu.. See if that fixes it and if your within your 30 days exchange it

Thanks. What is a stock ruu? Sorry, I'm new to android. I bought it on eBay (it was new, unopened), so I can't return. I had the software update shortly after getting the phone, from 1.73 to 1.85. I'll have to work through HTC service if it's defective.

i suggest u root it.. and try to reinstall the complete software again... use it for a day and check for any issues.. if it still does.. claim warranty
follow this guide closely, covers everything.. wiht download links ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678308
post any doubts or issues in q&a thread in this forum... and dont use any software or downloads from other htc one x (international) forum.. thy have different chipset.
edit : wait is ur power button gone bad? or u r screen goes off randomly and u cant use power button to get it back on?.. as long as it doesnt reboot randomly .. i think u should try above guide
and power button needs a short press.. are u pressing it far too long? its suppose to restart if u keep power button pressed for 10 sec
Thanks. Ok, I might try that rooting, but I wish the software was easily reinstalled if there are update issues.
Power button is Ok. It randomly won't turn the display on, it seems something has crashed software wise. Sometimes, it will freeze, as in turning it back on with the button, and then it freezes when pulling the unlock ring, or scrolling to a widget. Then it restarts, and it is Ok for a bit after restarting.
But on more than a few occasions, I've pulled the phone out to check something or show someone something, and the button won't turn the screen on, or it's shut itself off. Then I do a hard reset and it come to life and seems to work fine for a while.
I'm guessing now this is not a common problem.

Sensation not starting, no LEDs coming

My HTC Sensation z710e switched off automatically, while it was in my pocket. Its not booting now.
I have tried charging for more than half an hour. The orange LED (for charging) is also not coming. Nothing comes up on screen too, not even a vibration.
I have tried holding the volume down button and power button also, nothing happens.
I have tried taking out the sim and sd card, then also nothing comes up.
Its not even rooted.

I got the ICS and sense 3.6 update a few days back, after that my phone switched off and start back automatically a few times.

Thanks fr the fast reply. But 'faulty device'? I used it for over a year now. 1 year and 16 days to be precise [I calculated it to knw abt the warranty]

Same thing happened to me.
Lasted a few days but was rebooting by itself while using it. Eventually it wouldn't even start up. Its in for repair but I expect it will be replaced.
Same symptoms, SD card is the problem.
Hi,
My phone (HTC Sensation / ARHD Rom) didn't charge or boot either / no LEDs light while in the charger.
After removing the SD card (32Gb, used for a year) and SIM, the phone charged and booted up.
Placing the two back inside made it unable to boot up again.
Placing a new SD card 8Gb and the original SIM back solved the problem.
So the SD card is the problem. I tried it again and it really is.
But I don't understand how this can be? How can an SD card block a phone's charging / booting abilities? Anyone a clue?
Thanks,
Johan

[Q] HTC Desire

My HTC Desire stopped working for the third time in 2 years but HTC wont repair it. It was intermittent at first, sometimes it booted, sometimes it didn't. I went to do a factory reset using the power and volume buttons and MAY have accidently selected the wrong option thereby possibly bricking it, I'm not sure.
Anyway I bought a new battery to see if that was the problem but it made no difference.
Is there any way around a "bricked" phone please?

[Help] power button & soft key lights

Hello, I have a weird problem with my sensation, everything were working fine, until I fall asleep with my sensation in hands, I woke up next morning and my phone was off (it didn't fall on floor nothing, it was still in my bed) I thought battery drained out, so I attached charger to it, but no signs of charging, so I put my spare battery in, and phone turned on by itself, and after few seconds of turning on, all four soft touch buttons just started to flash with less then a seconds interval, but phone booted up, everything was working except power button, it just didn't respond, completely dead. I tried to do factory reset, cleared all cache + data + dalvik etc. but still got that problem with flashing soft touch buttons and power button. Does anyone have an idea how this two things can be related ? I mean if the power buttons is old enough and I am expecting that one day it will just die, then why the hell I got those weird soft touch buttons flashing ? I am lost, I did search about this but all I found was something similar, I guess software triggered problems, but this one looks hardcore. I tried few tips from information I found, but didn't help, I also didn't see anyone else having this kind of problem :/ if anyone have an idea, I would be more then thankful.
P.S
Phone is s-off (with wire trick) phone is also rooted and running Revelation 1.0.1 ROM
Thanks in advance.
