no *** LOCKED *** on my desire s :s - HTC Desire S

okay so i have searched and searched and found nothing. when i boot into my bootloader and look at it it doesnt display the *** LOCKED *** at the top of the screen you all talk of ????????? its locked to uk Orange and branded but no *** LOCKED *** :S :S :S i try to use htcdev and get my token but it gives me loads of errors ??????????? adb drivers all installed as i did it on my other desire s which has got the *** LOCKED *** ( now unlocked) with htc dev. any1 got any answers im very :S

Suggest you write the full bootloader screen details along with your ROM version
EDIT incorrect, ignore this
suspect that you're on an early version and therefore an early hboot, which is good, means revolutionary could be possible

im very :S my other desire s is unlocked via htc dev so i dont understand why this 1 cannot

I was wrong in my earlier thinking and can't give you an answer
You could attempt the more complex downgrade and unlock approach, although would suggest researching first

Here you go
br here many Roms But i mean that how i can find my Phone Serial RELATED..ROM...
if your desire s not branded, then you can take RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.0XXXXX
otherwise take the branded one TMO = T-Mobile, etc
Which country did your phone come from? Was it networked locked or branded? This will help identify the correct ROM

Br have No information...About this ....
Reboot to bootloader.
Connect to PC
Make sure that on the phone is written FASTBOOT USB
Open cmd and type
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Look for version main. It should be a number like 1.28.401.1
Find the RUU that contains this number in the name and use it.
If something of the above is not clear to you do some reading in the forum. Good luck

[Q] Stuck on HTC Logo

Hi all! (be gentle plz lol)
I have a Desire S that gets stuck on the HTC Logo screen when booting.
I can get to the bootloader and the information is below

I have tried PG88IMG.zip on the sd card and it reads it but does nothing else.
Recovery doesn't work either.
I received the phone in this state so I don't know what the last user has tried to do.
Its an O2 UK phone
Any ideas?

Your phone is still s-on so you can't flash a custom ROM. It has the old hboot, so you're lucky you cab use revolutionary to s-off your phone, and then flash a custom ROM on it. Search XDA for revolutionary s-off and you'll understand what I mean.
Sent from a phone waiting for kernel v3. Wake up HTC!!
I'd say put phone into bootloader then fast boot.USB and run an early stock ruu just to see if the phone is ok, or needs a warranty return
Do not update hboot to 2.xxx

Maybe you should try to wipe cache and get your phone s off via revolutionary.

Dummy question regardin device root and instalation of custom ROM

A colleague of mine just bought a HTC Desire S and is unable to find info on how to root and install custom ROM (CyanogenMOD).
I myself don't have the time or desire to look so I am please asking you.
Is there a way to root device with following info:

Thank you all.
Tell him to read then,
Follow link in my signature to INDEX and its all there
Either simple
HTCdev , custom
Or better
Downgrade, soff, custom

I used this to downgrade:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331
It worked for me for the first try but I suggest to read at least the 75% of the comments before you start doing anything. Lot's of questions answered there.
Than I followed the revolutionary method just mentioned in the 8. section.
And of course your friend should read all the help and wiki he finds on the cyanogen website (for Desire S as well) so he will understand how these things work.
In my case, all the downgrading and flashing took 1 hour but before doing anything I spent 4-5 full afternoons to read everything and understand the processes and methodology behind all this stuff.

The procedure as i recommend it:
1. Downgrade HBOOT
2. S-OFF via Revoutionary
3. Install 4ext Recovery - install the touch version
4. Install ENG HBOOT
5. Install a custom rom or whatever. You can find EVERYTHING here.

Need help flashing/rooting

I'm not a n00b when it comes to stuff like this. I was flashing phones since ever, the last one being HD2, flashing HSPL etc, but these newer HTC devices confuse me a bit, and no help article here on XDA didn't explain in detail what's what about Desire S flashing.
Now i've bought a second hand Desire S and have noticed things aren't the same like with HD2.
The phone bootloader looks like this:
*** LOCKED ***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
Now i figured what s-off is, but this LOCKED sign above confuses me so i'm restraining myself from flashing untill i'm sure which way i'm going.
Also, what's fastboot option in the bootmenu? (i'm also pulling the battery out to get out of the menu, don't wanna reboot through that fastboot just in case)
So, anyone care just to point me in short what to do?
I'd like to unlock the phone completely so i can root it and flash it later on.
Better safe than sorry.
Thanks everyone
You are s-off so locked/unlocked doesn't matter.
what recovery do you have?
You should also instal an ENG boot loader, see the links in my signature
Swyped form ym Dersie S unsig XAD Permuim
I don't have any recovery installed, when i enter recovery through hboot it just shows a phone icon with a red warning triangle. What recovery is the best? I've been using CWM mostly and would like to keep using it as i'm used to it.
Can i install CWM from this thread http://goo.gl/Uq3m5 since i don't know what method was used for S-off (if that matters at all)
My bootloader is in english, should i install another bootloader anyway?
Also, now that i have s-off, should i downgrade my bootloader or keep it? I don't know what method was used for s-off as the phone was bought second hand.
This was so much easier with GS2, now i feel sorry i sold it few months ago...
Try to follow the last post advice from tectas in the following thread in order to flash a recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620821
First ensure you have
settings....applications....development... USB debugging=ON
Settings....power...fast boot =OFF
I wouldn't bother downgrading, later on try to instal the ENG boot loader, see link on my sig.
Swyped form ym Dersie S unsig XAD Permuim
Thanks, is that for 4Ext recovery?
Is there a simpler way to root and install CWM, as i said i'd like to keep using CWM?
What's the use of flashing ENG boot loader?
EDIT: Oh great, now all of a sudden my phone has random restarts all on his own, or when i finish a call. What's wrong now? Could i have screwed something by yanking the battery in hboot?
While yanking the battery is dangerous it risks killing phone, not creating the issue you describe, check that the battery is fitted properly, try putting a piece of folded paper on top of battery to ensure it doesn't lose contact
Not sure which recovery that is, once you have rooted you can simply flash cwm through ROM manager
did you change your ROM?
ENG hboot enables you more freedom with hboot and more functionality in recovery
Swyped form ym Dersie S unsig XAD Permuim
No, the rom is stock Sense 3.0, Android 2.3.5.
I'll try flashing that recovery you suggested.
All went well. I flashed 4Ext recovery, and installed AOKP Build 34, all is well now.
Thanks a lot for your help
