Okay, so I installed Ice Cold Sandwich about a month ago. It kept freezing and when I used the forced restart combination nothing happened. I thought it was because of the cm9 kernel that the combination of buttons did not work, so I changed it to Tiamat kernel, yet it still doesn't work. Please help me

Hey. if you installed ics about a month ago, you should have red the ice cold thread a little bit. Everyone is having reboots, using CM9 and tiamat kernel too. And it can also freeze your phone. 3 button combo doesn't work, you need to wait till your battery drains out( do not pull the battery or you risk a fried emmc). for me it didn't need that long, the phone rebooted by itself after about 30 minutes.
Please read information about a ROM before you try to use it, this ROM is not 100% stable without kernel 3.0
Sent by my fingers to your head.
Yes, I knew the ROM was not going to be stable, but I did not know about the combo not working (I do not think it was in the changelog). I thought that I had a problem with the combo,
I didn't know that everybody's got it
There is always the adb reboot bootloader option, if the buttons don't work

No this happened to me and when I plugged it into my pc it just said device not found and couldn't use adb
In which case the only safe option is to let the battery run down
Swyped form ym Dersie S unsig XAD Permuim
The problem with adb is that you are not close to a computer all the time. In my experience I never had to let battery run down because the phone restarts after a while (about 10-30 minutes)

Hi,
I'm running s-off, cwm 4.0.1.4 (blue) and Mike's Android Revolution 1.5.
Having a strange problem where I can't reboot or shut the phone down without being unable to turn it back on using the volume button. The only way I can restart it is to pull the battery, reinsert and press the power.
I've read about this happening when the battery depletes and is empty, but never with the battery being full.
I've tried all combinations of shutdowns/reboots with fastboot on and off, but still the same result every time.
Is this a CWM issue?

Yes it is a cwm issue that no one seem to want to get to the bottom of. Try using the.5 version of cwm. I had the same problem and.5 fixed it.

Thanks for the reply.
From everything I've read, 4.0.1.5 has serious issues with not being able to charge once the battery depletes. The sticky on the guide thread says to use 4.0.1.4 instead.

either one or the other will be the one for your phone.
.5 was the one for me and likely will be the one for you too. Test it out by turning off your phone with a healthy battery and see if it charges.

Best Android Rom HTC HD2 ?
Hey,
I`m searching for the newest and best Android Rom HTC HD2 ?
THX
There have been few threads regarding this. The answer is also in the android rev thread. I tried both cwm .4 and .5. Didnt fix the problem. So I flashed a different kernel and it fixed the problem, but now it lags. So I'm just waiting for Mike to make 1.1.8. I would suggest going back to 1.1.5.

Hello, i have a htc desire s phone 3 months and i tried installing the 2.3.5 update from the settings menu in the phone. After the installing the phone stuck on HTC Boot screen. I left it about 10 minutes or more like that, poped up the pin security screen and stuck. Then i pulled out the battery tried to reopen and again stuck, this time only on HTC boot screen. So i tried to perform factory reset via the boot menu. After the reset the phone is dead doesn't power up neither boots into the boot menu. Any solution?
I had a similar problem trying to update my Desire S. I got a red exclamation mark during the update and it sat on that for ages. So I pulled the battery and now I can even power on the device at all. Its just dead.

I still have insurance i hope it covers it since it's destroyed from the default update. I just posted here if someone can help me solve this without sending it back.
If you did nothing with phone (S-OFF etc) you should to send it back, otherwise you can lose you warranty.
Other solutions? XTC Clip? HXC Dongle?
What happen when you plug it to charger or usb? You should then check if vol down + power works (sometimes if its under charging you should hold vol down and push few times power).
No i didn't modified or used any things other than official on the phone. Also when i plug it on charger, it doesn't do anything and on pc, the computer plays the double ding sound of failed device. Anyway i guess you are right since i have it virgin without modification i can use my warranty. Thanks everyone for your replies
Hi dude I also experienced this a week ago. I solved this by plugging in my phone to the PC via USB, wait for a few minutes then booted into bootloader. Then, I entered clockwork mod recovery and wiped data and cache, finally, I restored my data from my backup, now it is running smoothly. Hope this helps.

So i just leave it on PC without pressing a thing? and it will automaticly pop up the bootloader? beacuse my pc doesn't open anything just hearing that error device sound (double ding)
I wouldn't even bother. These "get-outs" are great if you have previously rooted / S-Offed your phone, but if it is 'Virgin' - unmodified - then you are far better off following the official path for repair. I would, as it's only been 3 months, actually start by going back to the shop you bought it from and asking them to replace it - saves you from waiting 2 weeks for HTC to sort it for you.

I also noticed the same behavior after I got the ICS FOTA upgrade the other day. Each time I reboot the phone, I see an "Android is upgrading..." screen. Though, I'm not 100% sure this is a bug, or even an issue. For all we know, this could be an ICS feature. Remember how long it usually took for the Sensation XE to reboot? I think that's what's happening underneath (i.e., Android is optimizing under the hood). It's just that before ICS, we only see the Beats Audio logo and we have no idea what's going on below.
Regarding your issue with recovery. With your phone completely switched off, hold down both the Volume Down and Power buttons. You'll arrive at the HBOOT screen. From there, select "RECOVERY". You'll arrive at the screen with a red exclamation mark. To continue to the recovery menu, press both the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously. Let me know if this worked for you because this is usually the manner I access recovery (both under Gingerbread, and now on ICS).

any luck on this??? i jacked mine up trying to flash a new firmware and am stuck in the same boat with my sensation being completely unresponsive.
You could factory reset it:
From the manual:
If you can’t turn HTC Sensation 4G on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC Sensation 4G.
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button."

It was stated that he can't access the bootloader, which is what is required for the "FACTORY RESET"...
There are a number of people reporting this issue. I've even experienced the issue after the device powered down due to a drained battery. Luckily I have a stand alone charger. I put the battery on the charger for about 15 minutes, put it back in the device and it was able to boot, charge, connect usb etc...
I tried for 20 minutes to get any response from the device before trying the charger.
No charging LED isn't a good sign.
There seem to be more and more people reporting with this problem these last few weeks. IT happened with mine....it was not battery drained cuz it went dead when battery was 100% charged. I've been trying to get input as to whether this is related to ROM or firmware we're flashing....but no one seem to know.
Nothing will work...ADB...battery out...etc...I've sent my phone back to HTC...waiting to see what happens.
There are at least 3-4 different post with the same problem the past few weeks.

Well what i did was that i had a brand new sensation, i got it s-offed, rooted, cwm, superCID. all that done following the guide here on XDA. i wanted to have the new elegancia ICS rom which required the 3.32 firmware with the 4ext recovery. I got the 4ext flashed and then flashed the 3.32 firmware which caused a bootloop. then i panicked and tried to put it back to stock. not realizing that it was prolly bootlooping due the stock rom not being compatible with that firmware (not positive if that caused the bootloop. just a guess) it bricked after trying to put it back to stock. nothing responds. computer doesnt recognize it. new battery doesnt to anything. no charging led. looking back on what i did. I was still able to get into the 4ext recovery when it was bootlooping. If i flashed a compatible rom while it was doing that would it have fixed the issue. can anyone confirm if the bootloop was caused due the the stock TMOUSA rom not being compatible with 3.32? Tmobile is going to send me a brand new one. I'd like that rom but dont wanna repeat the same mistake lol
Thanks

WEll..if your phone lights up or have some response.maybe you can still do something by connecting to computer. Mine was completely unresponsive...and can't be detected on computer!
Maybe it's an overclock issue? I've read on different threads that there may be a motherboard issue. The sensation is known for overheating. Maybe it's frying the motherboard.
What frequency were you guys running and was your phones randomly shutting down before it became unresponsive?
i think we guyz got the same problem :S its just turned off with a constant beep

Hi, I have a bit of an odd problem, I have recently installed the Fallout Rom on my Desire S, but my phone cant fully power off while its on charge (either by USB or Power Cable).
Every time I try my phone powers down, but then turns back on an goes into recovery mode??
I have checked all the settings I can think of (Fastboot etc) but I still can't get it to power off fully?
If any one has any idea I'd be grateful for a solution.
PS. I realize that I should normally post this in the Rom development section, but unfortunately I haven't got enough post to do so.
Thanks in advance.
Hmmm, strange indeed.
Will your phone power off when it's not on charge?
What version of recovery do you have?

Thanks for the response,
My phone will power off when not on charge, but the second I put a USB or Power cable in it it then boots to Recovery.
I'm using ClockworkMod Touch Recovery v5.8.1.5.
Thanks
i had this problem on a few other roms and made a thread about it. it isnt fallout related.. try upgrading to the latest cwm if you haven't. i fixed it simply by switching to using 4ext instead of cwm, do that and you're sorted
It's to do with cwm , so simply install 4ext and all should be sorted
Swyped from my DesireS
There we go, just swapped to 4ext and it works a charm.
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated
