If you try headphones with handsfree feature then there's nothing wrong with your headphones. It's just not compatible with HTC. I tried with Nokias headphones and it all sounds awful. Something to do with the headphone jack i think.
sometimes headphones from manufacturers that make phones do not work on phones from other manufacturers
(my HTC earphones does not work on some nokia phones)
have you tried other headphones like sennheiser, beats?
I tried orginal iphone earphone and it works

I've a Klipsch Image One to listen music and it comes with iPhone micro and volume control.
For my tests I could see that the Desire doesn't recognize the micro part well
Is there an app or a tip to get the control working correctly ?
I don't like the standard earphones as they are too big, but there's no choice of good quality earphones (in ear please!) coming for htc. Most of them are unfortunely designed for iPhone so mix and controls won't work htc devices.
Is there any software that can fix that?
Hello,
i bought some nice beats Monster tour headphones with controletalk.
I realized that my phone Desire S with Endymion rom does not recognizes the headphones as an Headset. So i figured out that my headphones are recognized as an Headset with mic when i plug them in with the wolume + pressed.
The headset symbol is shown in the infobar above but i cant use the mic and the colume buttons. Just ending a call is possible, nothing else.
So has anybody any idea what the issue could be.
Normaly my Phone should be fully compatible with the Headphones beacuse the ROM is the official Sensation XL rom with comes stock with Beats by Dre..
And much older HTC Phones are official listed as capable with this headphones.
THX for answer!!!
I have the same problem with CyanogenMod 7.1 stable installed.
Omg, really? I was seriously considering a pair of beats tour, but without the mic, so I'd be fine
How is it with Endymion?
Are they good? Do they integrate well with the beats, srs and Dolby?

If you have rooted, install CWM recovery, make nandroid backup..flash Endymion 3.3 ROM, Which is awesome and that is my daily use ROM with lots of feature. I think beats audio is only available in custom ROM.
Is Beats Audio really that good?
Whats the difference to winamp i.e.??
i've read that you have to use beat earphone to know the difference.
i prefer srs sound.. beats mode have to much hight frequency.
Yes this lets understand this Beats Audio a bit better first. I used to ask for it until I read a bit more into it.
Firstly, it’s mostly a marketing gimmick. It is not as if any ‘Beats’ phones have any special sound processing hardware. It is simply someone’s idea of the best EQ setting, designed specifically to match a pair of Beats Audio headphones. Dr Dre has then stuck his name on it, to make him lots of money and lend some street credibility to it. Yo.
It sort of makes sense only if you are using official Beats headphones, on official Beats equipment. What normally happens is that the official Beats phone (lets say for the sake of argument it’s the HTC Sensation XE) recognises when official Beats headphones are plugged into it. It then applies this beats EQ, which is specifically designed to get the most out of this specific set of headphones.
Custom ROMs are simply snatching this part of the ROM from the Sensation XE, plonking it on your custom ROM, and frigging the headphone input detection so that it thinks ANY headphones plugged in are official Beats headphones.
The result will be a forced EQ that unless your are using the Beats headphones bundled with the XE, will be completely mis-matched to the headphones you are using. Likely as not it will sound pony. I’ve tried it on 3 sets of headphones ranging from cheap £10 efforts, a mid-range pair of Skull Candys, and my nice new pair of a-Jays. In all three cases I was better off using a decent player app like PowerAmp, and using the EQ in that to tune the sound to match the headphones being used.
Excellent statement, wnp, and very well put together
I agree, I use beats on my pair of bog standard Phillips in-ear headphones and to be honest, I cannot tell the difference.

Excellent lowdown on the whole beats thingy man! Thanks a ton. BTW I use beats Monster audio headphones and they make pretty awesome earphones...especially the in ear type...
As far as the beats audio software is concerned...I completely agree with you. I have yet to find anything that sounds better than poweramp no matter what earphone you use...Beats, Bose or otherwise...!

i have used it on a rom and i can tell you that it isn't anything special if you are using stock earphones, to get the most out of beats you will need beat headphones.. i was all excited as you are until i experienced it
i tried it on CoreDroid rom...
And i must say that id did sound better on iFROGZ headphones... So better that i used stock player instead of my favourite PlayerPro.
Ofcourse, beats can't be anything else than propperly set equilizer...
I hope that guys from PlayerPro will include it in their next release.
wnp_79 said it all, this is exactly the case because it reminds me of apple when i see this, and htc bought beats so we're coming closer to the apple territory.
and thats why im searching for an srs like effect for my cm7 since it was so good when i had the stock sense.. any ideas?

I'm on Ordroid 9.0.0. with Bricked kernel.
Using the Beats headphones that came with the Sensation XE (bought separately, i'm using a standard Sensation) plugged into the headphone socket, I notice much clearer and crisper sound using the Beats effect and there is a noticeable difference between each of the other equalization modes. The bass is increased drastically on the SRS setting, so much so that it's more powerful than the Beats setting.
But when i plug the same headphones into my Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth headset there doesn't seem to be hardly any effect and the Beats icon does not appear in the notification bar even after changing to no effect and back to Beats.
Also, when directly plugged in, in the notification drag down there is an entry as to which sound effect i am currently using and it can be changed from there. When using the bluetooth headset this is totally missing.
If you could get the same functions via bluetooth this would be an excellent improvement!

If there would be 'bitrate improvements' it would mean it would re-encode the track to another format. Maybe it's better to ditch the whole idea of 'bitrate improvement' thru sound rendering.
OQ: This is a collection of presets for the htc music stock player.
For all other questions: At this moment the OP says enough, Sense 4 base build 1.11 Ville_C RUU. It's what you get, for now.
Possibly later on there will be more versions available also for different devices.

Hi all.
I'm wondering if it's possible to get a line-out somehow on the Sensation, or even a digital audio output, such as on the iphone?
Can it be done maybe through the MHL port? USB?
Can't you just use the mini-jack output? Maybe I don't understand your question.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk
Hi. Thanks for your answer.
I don't want to use the regular audio output, since I want a clean output, not amplified or equalized.
My purpose is to connect my sensation to an exterior amplifier, such as the fiio e7, or the digizoid zo2, to which I'll connect my headphones.

I personally use this DAC sometimes :

And it works very well indeed.
There are many more DAC Amps on the market now, but this gives a nice rich sound for the price. (Ebay is a good place to look)
**Edit-Apologies, I misread your question. And totally missed the Line out request.**

I use it on multiple Gadgets really, Netbook, Guitar, Ipod, Xbox etc as a great Amplifier.
And the DAC makes a huge difference to the Sound quality of Streaming media such as Napster/Last FM.
I've just noticed the updated E17 :

If you have a Richersounds (Or similar retailer) near you, they are usually brilliant for providing Demonstrations. Just call them and they will arrange it for you.

Hey !!
Thanks for the answer.
What is this "mini usb-Spdif converter cable" that you speak of? You just connect one side to the HTC, and the other to the DAC/Amp? And if we're on the subject - what DAC/Amp do you use?
Yes sorry ignore me, I didn't explain that too well, the Spidif cable is only when I use it to connect to my PC from my iPad.
I use the E10 with sensation (See picture) which just needs a USB input for any additional power/or Devices.

3.5mm from sensation to E10.
And then line out or Coaxial for audio output.
I don't actually think that sensation has USB audio host support,(USB to USB) which is influenced by the kernel. But it will happen at some stage with ICS no doubt.
Cheers.

Don't be sorry... we all have our hands full...
Anyway, if I connect a 3.5mm jack from sensation to a 3.5mm into the E10, then it's not actually line-out, because the audio passes through the internal amplifier (in the sensation), and also through the equalizer, so by the time it gets to your ears, it passes through 2 amps and 2 equalizers (cause the E10 also has a built in eq'), which quite distorts it.

Yes, have a search for "sensation OTG/USB host'.*
It was hoped that ICS would bring us closer to achieving it fully.
Once again it's very much Kernel dependent.
I'm wondering if a MHL audio splitter (of some kind) connected to mini-usb is possible, to seperate the Audio channel?
Anyway, good luck, and I'll keep looking.
Cheers.
*I believe OTG stands for "On the Go".

Indeed... It can also serve as an external soundcard. And in most cases (Laptops at least) it does a better job than the built in one.

Most headphone go to 20Hz, and the high-end ones go even lower. And it connects with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
