I'm running a custom Rom. I wanted to restore my stock HTC desire s Rom, so I extracted the Rom.zip from the RUU and renamed it to PG88IMG.zip to put it on my SD card to try and flash it...my question is: can I do so if I have S-on?? (Btw my bootloader is unlocked via htcdev)..ask for more details if u want

Yes, I believe that this should work, although which custom are you currently on using which kernel? as you may find that you'll need to flash the kernel from the RUU afterwards.....although you may get away with it if you were on a sense ROM
Yes i'm currently using a sense Rom...(can't recall its name)..one question though: how -if I need to- will I be able to flash the kernel of that run....and I really thank you for your help, it's much appreciated

I'd suggest that you simply take a full nandroid backup of your current setup and try it....you can always restore if you need which will leave you where you are now - so nothing lost .
The bootloader will flash the kernel automatically - because it can (unlike recovery, which can't).
Also, the bootloader might not flash anything until you lock your phone back with HTCDev.
Or just run the ruu tru fastboot USB just make sure u have the HTC drivers install

I don't believe that either of the things that you've just said are correct.
You can install adb/fastboot and then reboot your device into bootloader, attach usb and use fastboot USB and then run the RUU
to relock the phone again you can put the device into bootloader and then use fastboot oem lock
Oh oh I got you....that, or I can just put pg88img on my root of the sdcard and it should automatically flash it right?

I see you got everything work out, but everything you just said here did not made sence. Because you dont need to be boot it up to run the ruu you can do it in the bootloader as long as you have the same hboot of what you have right now.

Today , i successfully rooted my HTC Sensation 4G, everything was working totally fine, but then I wanted to install and custom ROM , called Super Villain Shensation.
I followed everything like the instructions told me to, but it says that the installation was aborted. and when i want to reboot my phone, it just stays on the white HTC logo screen, and doesnt do anything. I am able to get to the bootloader, but when i try recovery the same thing happens. what do i do !?
First of all, it is not bricked. Moving forward you need to re-download the ROM to make sure it is not a corrupted download, then try to flash again.
In order it would be:
-re download ROM again (I would personally suggest a ginger bread ROM that doesn't require you to flash firmware and such)
-download super wipe
-put them both in your sd card, somewhere where you could find the files
-go into your recovery and flash the super wipe zip (found in the Android Revolution thread)
-flash ROM
-let it boot (it will take about 5 minutes)
-done

Need tothrow the pg85.img zip on the root of you're sd card then boot into bootloader. Follow on screen instructions.

Go to your bootloader like previous poster said and paste this file in the root of your sd card.
-Press the up volume rocker once you get the prompt to do it
If everything goes the way is suppose to go, you will be able to get into recovery again and flash whatever ROM you like.

Did you superCID? If not, what is your CID, because the file: P58IMG.zip is the firmware package for your device, and it's CID dependent. Get the one you need from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767

What is you hboot if it's 1.18 or below and since you're r now s-on you need to run an ruu for ics that is closes to you stock rom. To upgrade your firmware to an ics compatible firmware. If it's 1.2x then you can htc-dev unlock and if you want s-off use jb then flash 4ext recovery even if your just htc-dev unlock. If your just htc-dev unlocked in 4ext enable smart flash. Hi
I have a sensation xe. I rooted it before upgrading it to ICS (before is GB).
I upgraded it by flashing official ics rom due to I previously installed clockworkmod recovery which stop me from normal way of upgrade.
After upgrade everything's fine, but superuser and clockworkmod gone.
When I install superuser it says binary not found. but I checked my bootloader it says S-OFF.
What should I do?
Android - 4.0.3
Software number - 3.32.401.105
Hboot - 1.27.0000
Radio - 11.22.3504.07_M
Nevermind.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
I don't know what is that, I think not.
I flashed it using RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_251961_signed.exe
If you find it locked you have to unlock first with htcdev.com but many user won't recommend it but at this time I think it the only way to unlock the bootloader, install the custom recovery(CWM) and install the superuser(root the phone).
You can get the details on this post.
But I already have it rooted before upgrade. I thought it will remain rooted? coz my bootloader shown S-OFF
OK, you have S-off. I guess you should be able to flash Revolutionary firmware from Boot loader, then use fast boot to flash the recovery, then flash root from the recovery you installed earlier and voila.

Or, flash a firmware that contains recovery and then flash super user (just make sure its the correct firmware.) (I don't remember exactly where I seen this firmware, but I'm sure I have. Maybe here or somewhere else)

If you are S-Off you can root it again (because you flashed a RUU you lost root)
1) need to have a custom recovery (CWN or 4EXT). There is a nice tool to instal 4ext recovery HERE or download this PG58IMG. Just put it in your sd card and flash it from bootloader.
2) Then Download and install from custom recovery the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Done!

Correct. By revolutionary you install CWM and then you can switch to 4ext. same as I did but in his case he doesn't need to use Revolutionary because already unlocked and s-Offed (and also because Revolutionary doesn't support Hboot 1.27). He needs just to install a custom recovery by a PG58IMG and superuser to get root again.

Ok I am going to ask the obvious questions here.
1. Is the file name PG58IMG.zip? If not the stock recovery will not flash it.
2. Do you have the file on the root of your SD card? If not the stock recovery will not detect the file. If you do not know what the root of your SD card is, it imeans it is not in a folder.
3. Have you tried re downloading just in Case it is a bad down load?
4.have you checked your SD card with a reader to make sure it is a readable card?
5. Are you positive your bootloader is unlocked?
Edit:
6. Have you tried flashing it via ADB fastboot commands?

S-offed via Revolutionary will say Revolutionary Shipped S-off or something like that, you will know if it is there.

Yes if you flash the official OTA file it will remove root. You only have to super CID if you want to be able to flash official ROMs from other regions besides your own. But saying that it is still a good idea to Super CID as some Custom ROMs may require it depending on what the ROM base is.

Hi guys. I got my One S like two months ago, and I got the S3 version. Unfortunately. I unlocked and rooted (with TWRP). I finally got the Sense 4.1 update. But I need to revert to stock recovery to install it, 'cause it won't seem to install otherwise.
Can someone PLEASE tell me how to do this? I do not know what the heck a "RUU" is. I got linked to this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543588, from there I went to the filefactory download page, and I got a whole bunch of "RUU" files, and I have no idea which one is for mine.
So, please, for the love of god, I'm begging someone to tell me how to do this. I just wan to flash back to stock recover, relock the bootloader, and install the update.
Anyone!
1.You must flash stock recovery via fastboot
2.lock the bootloader with cmd(fastboot oem lock)
3.Then run the ruu exe with windows.
(Ruu is a installation on the PC to revert to stock)
For your device, you must find on filefactory ruu villec2 2.15

Question: how do I flash the stock recovery? I'm really sorry if this is a dumb question. I downloaded the mentioned RUU (what the heck is a RUU anyway ). So now I just need to know how to flash the stock recovery. Is this something that happens via a command through fastboot? Or a file I need to specifically flash in? In which case, any idea where I can download the stock recovery for the S3? 'Cause everytime I searched for it, I just kept getting linked back to RUU files. =S
Here you got the stock recovery

Put it in your android folder then flash with cmd(fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img)
You must be in bootloader usb doing this!

I know I'm supposed to use the thanks button (and I did), but THANK YOU! SO. MUCH. You have no idea how desperate I've been for the last nine hours trying to figure this out! I'm gonna go try it out now.
No problem
