[Q] Shutdown doesnt work - battery still empties - HTC Desire S

Hi guys,
I have a strange error.
I'm running 2.3.5 VoiduS 3D v1a [PROXUSER] with Sense 3.0.
I have a game installed called tiny tower. If game is still running in front when i hold power button and select shutdown, phone shuts down, but in the morning for example, when I turn it on, battery is gone like that game would be running whole night..
Where can i start looking for a problem?

Really stupid first question from me...
What happens if you actually close the program down and then shut the phone down? Do you still get battery drain?
If not then I would suggest the game is holding something open and stopping the phone from actually shutting down properly.

If I shut down game first, battery is ok.
I was wondering why shutdown doesn't do what its supposed to do: shut down everything

Check settings......power......fast boot = off
Swyped form ym Dersie S unsig XAD Permuim

Maybe you did not shutdown but only standby the device. That is the usual behaviour of shutdown in Sense Roms to wake up the phone faster.
You have to uncheck something called like "quick boot" or so in power settings to make a real shutdown. Don't know exactly how it is named cause I cannot check this, I'm on CM 9 right now.
You can test this by rebooting your device. Hit the power button, check reboot and you will see it needs much longer to boot. Plus the game is gone.
Ups, Ben was faster. :-D So it's called "Fast boot" - looks like I have to return to Endy
Gesendet von meinem Desire S mit Tapatalk

Yes, you guys are right, i have fast boot on.
Didnt realize that this means that my apps are still running altough i shutdown phone..
Wierd function..

Also, I would recommend upgrading your ROM...
VoidU is a really old ROM now! its based on the Desire HD leaked Sense 3.0 ROM, we have our own official version now.
I suggest upgrading to Hyperion is you want a similiar Sense 3.0 experience, heck, just go to Endymion with the latest (on GB) Sense 3.5.
Im guessing over time your ROM has become corrupted, so you are having drainage issues with apps running in the background hogging CPU power when they shouldn't be.
Our own official Sense 3.0 is also much more optimized... As it was actually built for the device!

[Q] My HTC Sensation Keeps Shutting Down

Hi - my HTC Sensation phone keeps shutting down on it's own randomly.
By shut down I mean screen goes blank, it powers down, only way to start again is to take out the battery and reinsert.
I am using stock battery that came with the phone.
It's happened 6-7 times in like 2 weeks. I can't determine what is causing it, I did notice it was twice when i used the camera and once skype.
The temperate in battery monitor widget appear normal, no like sudden jump that would indicate the shut down.
It is running 2.3.4 with Android revolution Rom.
Any help/assistance would be appreciated.
Lastly, for HTC repairs, what do they require, store receipt, etc.?

maybe this is a rom issue or maybe the kernel you are using...try another rom and see if it happens again...this is not hardware problem...
Try a new kernel first before reflashing rom. Also look at voltage levels, of volts are set too low this can happen.

Silly question, have you tried the rom without flashing kenels? Meaning use the one bundled in the rom.
To be honest im not sure how to do that, i just followed the thread and installed the rom as mentioned in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
I did just revert back to 1.2ghz right now to see if that makes a difference, the rom i was on had the cpu set to 1.5ghz

Isn't ARHD a sense based rom? I use faux's kernel and he states that it is for AOSP/CM roms only. Could that be the issue?
Edit: My bad, forgot that faux develops the kernel for arhd as well. I had a similar issue when I tried to upgrade my radio to the newest from the same one you are using. Flashing back stopped the black screens.

I think I read in that thread that if people are having trouble with the overclock, to lower to 1ghz. But report back if your way works or not. GL
I have been having some random shut downs as well lately. I've been running the last insertcoin GB rom. It started as an occasional shut down but recently became very frequent. I decided to superwipe and flash the lastest android revolution gb rom and during the initial boot up it shut down and then 2 more times before I was able to finish logging in to my gmail account to complete the phone's setup. It's now started up and hasn't shut down in the last 15 minutes or so but I'm wondering what is causing it. I had stock kernel with insertcoin's rom and I selected the 1.5 kernel during the install of ARHD. I also flashed the recommended radio for the ARHD rom before installing it.
I would like to find a solution for this too because I have been dealing with this for a long time. I have tried many ROMS both ICS and GB and many different kernels and still have problems. The problem seems to go away with aosp ROMS for me though:/
EDIT: And the most of the time it happens if not all the time the batteryis below at least 50% and starts to really get crazy after the 20% and 10%
I am freaking so frustrated with this phone.
I went back to normal 1.2ghz, but now a few days later battery is well at 50%, it still shuts down.
#@$#@[email protected]#
Anyone have a solution here? Is there a damn log or trace that can be run to identify why it shuts down on itself.

[Q] fastest sense rom with best battery?

ive been on AndroRevHD and im not too happy with battery performance, i have juicedefender pro, turn wifi and mobile data off while im in school, underclock it while in school and the battery reaches 30 percent by 12 and i unplug from a full charge at 6 20ish...
also whenever i power on the phone htc sense stops and has to restart everytime
no need to be a dickhead and say theres a website called google... i cant google someones opinion
so anyway from experience which sense rom is the fastest, stablest, and longest lasting battery youve used... besides elgancia and coredroid cause i dont like there theming...
oh and im about to try insertcoin now
I would suggest you try ENERGY ROM, it is still Gingerbread but it is stable and fast my battery lasts the whole day now it is a 1900 battery though, but with stock ROM I only had 25-30% left by 11:30
strange, I have the Sensation on ARHD 6.2.1 and during school I also turn off my mobile network/wifi.. but I don't under-clock, i just set the screen-off governor as conservative.. when I reach school, it's still at 100% battery after listening to some music on the train, when I leave school it's around 92%
stock kernel at 1.5 ghz if that helps
PS. the HTC Sense crash means you have apps on your SD card, go to app settings and un-tick all the apps so that they get moved to phone memory. I have tried this myself and it worked

Increasing number of problems Sensation

Hi Guys,
I've had my Sensation for nearly half a year now and there are multiple problems which are starting to annoy me now:
1. Since i've been using ICS my problems have grown quite a lot. i've been having random reboots lately. out of nowhere I try to wake up my screen and then I find out that my phone has gone off and it will start rebooting.
2. my phone has become increasingly slow, starting from about 10 minutes after a cold boot. starting applications is taking much longer and loading websites would go faster on a 3300.
3. my biggest issue with my phone now is the increasingly wake up times for my screen. upon startup everything works fine, but after half an hour the lagg between pressing the top right button and the screen turning is growing up to a minute. then Sense is taking hours to get my screen as it should be.
I'm using a stock version of ICS (4.0.3, Sense 3.6) and haven't rooted or unlocked. this is the base phone that has been updated.
I have done a hard reset but yet still the problems occur. Since the hard reset i've only installed a few basic apps which have been one my android phones since years(Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Is there anyone that has been having the same problems and was able to fix this? i'm getting hopeless using the phone at this point.
Thanks anyway,
Jeroen
Try a custom rom. In my experiences the stock roms were very unstable but custom roms have been good to me

Hi before I rooted I was having the random reboots, A LOT very aggravating and every time I'd go to a new task it would happen! I can HONESTLY say since I've rooted s off custom Roms that has NEVER happened again! I'm convinced custom Roms are more stable than stock issue! I'm running sense 4.0, Android 4.0.3, ice cream sandwich, no problems here. I'm now running ordroid Rom .8.7.0. Lots of customisation available, more than stock by far! I don't regret rooting for a second! It cured all those stock problems for me. It might be something you want to read about. Or actually do. All I know is I remember the stock problems and I'm so grateful I don't have to deal with them anymore, especially the random shut downs! I wish you the best .hope this helps in some way.

Random reboots
You should look into custom ROM's also you should download a battery life and temperature indicator, especially if you're on stock battery and ROM the phone gets very hot, and like a laptop will shut down itself due to dangerously high temperatures, anything above 80-83 degrees Fahrenheit normally causes reboots, sometimes without you even noticing, also check out anker battery I found personally that my phone ran cooler with that battery
If those last three responses weren't enough, stock is riddled with issues. HTC really dropped the ball on their last flagship. That being said; ROOT. SRSLY, ROOT > CUSTOM ROM. DO IT.
Alright then,
thanks for the replies!
i will switch to a custom rom whenever i have the time!
i'll keep you posted.

Continuos shutdown, different Rom's

Hello. I have from time to time, one very annoying problem. At one random moment ( today, next week, next month), the phone is restarting after some error, sense is loading, and then the phone is automatically shutdown, very fast. I have to use the power button to start. And this is going forever, until I install a backup, new Rom, or left'it alone because it pisses me off. The problem was first apperead 2 months ago, with one Sense 4.1 Rom. Installed another, after few weeks, same problem. Same with sense 4+, both Rom's available. I play casual games, it's not overheat. Once, I reistalled Rom with full wipe, same problem, so it's not one of my apps, and neither sense 5 icon pack wich I suspected. Weird, sometimes the problem vanish after restarting, and is working perfectly. The only suspects remaining on the list, are: mainboard, sdcard physical problem, battery problem ( anker, 8 months now, but first problems appeared 3 months ago). System is HTC Sensation, S-off, hboot 1.29, Anker 1900. Tks for any advice.

I have had the same problem....and I have been able to partially solve it by stuffing a small piece of paper in the battery slot so that the battery fit is tighter...
this has worked for me to a large extent...let me know if it works for you
Also after rom changes...try to give the battery atleast 2 full chage discharge...
Hope this helps
Hi,
Does it reboot finally or does it shut down? If reboots, how is it? I mean, does the acreen suddenly go dark and boot up again, or freezes a little time on the last scene, then reboots?

I used to have random restarts when my sensation was not rooted...but they stopped, when after root i deleted battery stats file once.

[Q] Which ROM for my HTC One Mini

Hi all!
I want to change the ROM of my HTC One Mini (currently 4.4.2 Stock, Bootloader unlocked, rooted) for install something more light and fast.
In my HTC sometimes i can see lags even in the home screen, moving from a page to another.
And i also have a big battery drain, even without 3rd party apps that consume battery. Currently i'm using only 2G (i locked 3G) and i turned off the backlights of buttons to save some energy, disabled apps like facebook etc, low brightness...but if i disconnect it from the current at 8 am he will have 50-40% at 4pm with a medium/low usage.
So, returning to my question, which is the better ROM for me?
No one?

No one can help me?
I've only used the stock based roms on here, not cm11 or other. But from my experience I found stock 4.3 to be the best in speed and battery. The main thing to do if your rooted is to delete system apps you don't use. Do some research on what's good or not to remove. Apps like Greenify can help. Personally I don't think you battery results are that bad. As long as you can reach the end of the day without charging your doing ok. Can't see another Rom giving you double battery life.

Ok
I will try stock 4.3 so!
thanks
I've got one mini for 5 months now and belive me i tried a bunch of roms. Right now i am on 4.4.2 sense 6 rom, which works perfect except whatsapp issue (you need exactly 2.11.226 version to work) and there is no "show recent apps" when you double tap home button, but that can also be solved with app called "swipe home button''. That is if you want to stick with stock based roms and sense, but get something new.
You could also try cyanogenmod, but as its still nightly i've expirienced some bugs, and found the "Codename Lungo" better working, which is also based on cm11.
In my opinion these cm based roms could help with your battery drain but they certainly have more bugs that stock based ones.
If you feel like experimenting, you could try this new pacman rom, i havent tried it yet. Anyway here are the links to threads:
