Flashed Flipz radio for Fresh 2.0 and had a few question that I have asked numerous times in numerous threads and they were not adressed...
1. Will my phone brick if I restore a backup to a 1.5 ROM with the updated radio?
2. Does the radio for Fresh 2.0 work for all 2.1 ROMS?
Thanks a lot guys. I just want to be 100% rather than having skipping stone.

This radio will work on all roms.... 1.5-2.1 and will not brick if you nandroid back to a 1.5 rom. However, there have been numerous reports of bricking when trying to go back to the previous stock radio. Just keep this in mind.

Besides the 1.5.6 RUU, there is no other way to go back correct?
There is a stock radio.zip posted on the forum (instead of using RUU) but it is also iffy. It still has a 50/50 chance of a bricking.

I had a good signal before (cant really tell a difference), but my battery life is greatly improved.
i was also good on the previous radio but just figured it was something they add in the official update so i did it anyway and i used to NEVER get 3g at my desk at work and it would kill my battery going in and out of service for 8 hours straight let alone me playin with my phone but since the new radio its sits at 3g the whole day and i have way more battery when im off work..
I have had nothing but problems with the new radio. I pushed a new PRL to it and still couldn't get a decent signal. I used to get 3 out of 5 bars -70db on the old radio, and now I cant get more than -90db. My Pre still gets almost perfect signal in my house and my Hero is now unusable. I applaud everyone's efforts in making the most of our Heros, but I sure hope a new radio comes out soon!
which of the 2 new radios should we use?
I really cant get a solid answer.
I am on DamageControl v1

Old radio....the only one that let me flash back to the old radio. Now I have much better reception. Where are you located?
I'm out in North Dallas.. Sprint's coverage is pretty good out here.. so I knew right away that something was up with that new radio. I'll probably switch back to my Pre for the next few weeks until the next official radio comes out.

Hi,
I just wanted to know what is the difference with this radio with other radios. This radio some how installs alot of stuff unlike the old radios. What is it additionally installing?
Thanks
What are you talking about ? (link plz)
I've flashed it and it was a simple Radio.img like any others radio file.

yup that's exactly it. yes this is just a radio update but why is it doing alot of installs unlike the old radios also this clears out your phone if you've installed it over your old rom.
what is good about this radio? what are the changes on this from the old ones.
thanks,

It didn't happen on my own DS (I used android flasher to change it).
And what's good ? Many fixes & some improvements I guess.
I'm trying to compare this from old radios but I can't tell..

I haven't noticed any changes before & after but usually, if you have no problems regarding calls / data / wifi there's no need to change the radio.

Hey chninkel, could you please repost/send me the radio? I can't find it on the web, just searching google.
It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Matoflash, you can find the link for the radio in this thread

I've noticed a bit more sensitive WiFi reception, what i don't consider for advantage. But that can be only matter of (un)luck. I have very weak wifi in my house.
I've flashed, because i thought, it will improve cell signal reception. Normally when i lay phone in my hand, data connection start cycling - changing between E-3G-H. And sometimes my call is dropped during.
I haven't noticed any real advantages at all.
I can't get it to download it from there, that's why I'm asking if you could either repost or send me the file...

Hi guys, i've got the radio included in the 2.21 update (1.06s), now that the 2.31 ruu has been posted i don't know if it's worth to update it to the latest (1.06es) or not (i use cm10 and have hboot 1.14 so i have to use the ruu to install the radio, it's a fairly long process).
What do you think?
If your signal and data are fine don't do anything.

i got 1 extra bar by upgrading by radio
I have used all the recent radios on CM10 and no difference. Also, some folks have had issues with the latest radio on CM10. The problems with having your hboot upgraded are not worth it. Unless, as mentioned, you have specific radio/wifi issues that dramatically impact your phone's perfomance.
Nope, never had issues with this radio, i'll stick with it, thanks!
I've never had great reception and I'm hoping that a radio change will help that.
I've had a total noob brain fart. How do I check for my HBOOT version?
I'm on T-Mo in the US. On the older radios, my connection would randomly drop, both WiFi and Data, then would come back within a few seconds. Very annoying when downloading files. With the newest radio, I have had no crashes at all. Battery life seems just a tad better for me as well. I recommend you update the radio. It is different for everyone. I only updated b/c it was easy for me as I have an older hboot.

Its like this man, straight and to the point without being mean. You are not going to find ANY 100% solid ROM that no one has a complaint over. We have 2 ROMS based on Stock OTA Updates that's it. Everything else is a port of this or that or a build from source.
So you ask what do I gain if ROM X has this broken and ROM XX has this broken, well we have gained 2 updates past what HTC wanted us to have along with many more features, all while losing 1080 recording only.

I love Sense. For me, the Sense ROMS like VI or MikXE (the one I'm running now) are far more stable and capable than CM9.
They both have their virtues but I'm like you and do love sense. I'm pretty impartial when it comes to either. I just enjoy being amazed at the capabilites of the developers' works that we all take advantage of and yet often critisize. I know I couldn't do what they do.

Where can I find this kernel? I'm looking and am not finding it. I'm trying to mimic your "everything works" setup and I think I've gotten what you said to get except for the kernel. I currently have 3.0.17-Don2x-gecb4581 and am experiencing the following two problems which seem to be very possibly kernel-related (otherwise I wouldn't bother):
1) Device randomly reports no signal when it should have a signal (either toggling Airplane Mode or a reboot always fixes this). Clearly, in this state, data, voice, and SMS do not work, which is quite problematic.
2) Battery randomly reports ~half of the capacity that it's really at (rebooting always fixes this). It's kinda strange - charging it overnight will only charge to 49%. But once you reboot it then it's magically at ~95%. (Yes, I've cleared battery stats.) And it seems to be fairly sporadic - doesn't always do this. Like I said, it's strange...
Also, what baseband should I be on? It's currently reporting 11.59.3504.00P_11.16.3504.20_2.
Lastly, for my "Build number", even though I've flashed the 1.35 beta 1 zip and running the OTA update APK, it still reports as "Virtuous Infinity v1.33.0 Alpha3". Is this right? Seems strange to me. Running the OTA Update apk again states that "The ROM developer has not enabled support for the OTA Updater! Please ask them (kindly) to add support before using this app! (otaupdater.otaid value empty or missing)".
If I've done something wrong, all of the above are the indications of such mistakes. Many thanks!
I don't know what happened unless you maybe got a corrupt download. The Mirrors, Tools.... thread in my sign. will give you another DL site. Post #3 Developer #2
That's the same Radio I have except mine is "00U" instead of "00P" . And that is the way the build reads on mine too. I think the Alpha designation tells the tale tho. Just try a full wipe and a reflash of new DL's. This has been one of the smoothest most solid ROMs I've run once it was patched. I HAVE heard of a couple of phones that didn't seem to like the all inclusive patch though. You might try just flashing those patches as a problem arises and you may get better responses from them. Kinda just a guess tho....
When I want fast, and stable, I go with Virtuous Inquisition. That one has the best day to day user experience for me. The only thing I miss with that ROM is the 1080P camcorder, and my stock camera with face detection, and burst shot that works etc.. The Brute Force TV Out add on is definitely not as good as the stock TV out and I miss that when using the Inquisition ROM as well. However, Inquisition is such a nice user experience that I use is often and keep a good nandroid of it. Even the hardware keyboard works the way I want it to include the Alt and CAPs lights.
When I really want to carry that good camera around and have TV out so I can bring Netflix to a friend's house that doesn't have Netflix, I still find myself booting up Bulletproof 1.0 (Before the green invasion). In that ROM I replaced all the pink apps with the "de-pinked" ones (Lockscreen, Contacts, Messages, Calendar etc.), changed the color of the pink message bubbles (ya know the ones that pop up with a number to tell you how many unread texts you have) to blue and I find this ROM to be nice stable user experience with some extra tweaks and extended power menu thanks to the groundwork laid out by RomanBB and then carried on by Blue6IX.
I'm keeping an eye on the MikTouch ROM based on the updated OTA stock ROM. That is a very smooth stock experience and I really appreciate that the developer (developers?) are still giving the Stock ROM some love and I feel it has great potential for those who don't want to lose ANY of the features that made this phone worth buying in the first place. Personally, I feel the hardware keyboard, camera, and TV out were the main reasons I bought this phone and I'm not willing to give those features up and switch to any other ROM full time regardless of how cool they look or how smooth they run.
I think the hard work by all the developers trying to give MT4GS more enhancements and options is amazing stuff and much appeciated, but Bulletproof and Inquisition are still my favorites at the moment. Unfortunately, neither project sees any further development so take it as it is, don't take it at all, or see what you can do to make them better for yourself.
Oh and if you want the ROM with the best battery life, it's the one with a Mugen 3600 battery...just sayin'. I have no complaints about battery life of any ROM with Mugen under the hood.
[UPDATE] MIkTouch is now my favored stock ROM choice.

Exactly. The only thing that was stopping me from using the CM7 Alpha was that the SD card wouldn't read.
well in regard to this post. i installed Jelly Bean(Vanilla Bean) rom on to mt4gs last night it has good potentioal but it is lackiing in alot places. i was previously using cyanogenmod9 alpha6 i believe and before i was using virtous 1.33 Alpha 3. however i wanted to know in your professional opinions are there any roms for MT4GS i should try. side note jelly bean is fast but cant use stock android keyboard, so i had to download from market those siine and swift keyboard apps to work also the rom is very twitchy. my mt4gs is with S-On. any opinions are welcome thank you.
One of those is a beta and one an alpha. Great work but not quite complete. There are several really great ROMs out there waiting to be tried. All you hvae to do is make a backup of the one you're on and check a few out. Try a few that are actual releases (you should be able to tell from the title) and see what you like. It's ALWAYS the best way.

Ive been searching for a solid rom since I got my phone in late November. Out of the 6 or so roms I have downloaded the most common problems are.
1) Software keyboard doesnt work.
2) USB File copying either doesnt work, requires a paid app or is very slow.
3) Battery drains faster or wont fully charge.
4) GPS becomes hit or miss
5) Support for promising roms suddenly stop, making you wait for someone else to port another rom which has almost the same sort of problems.
Most of the roms are stable, they are missing some critical things.
I've been experience really unstable wifi signal since installed a custom rom.
I tried installing Reaper V4.0 before my current setup (see sig) but the signal was just as unstable. Did a Nandroid restore to stock rom and the wifi signal was good and stable again.
Does this mean I have to flash the radio? Should I try installing a different rom first to see if it improves?
am not really sure but as far as i know some roms experience native GPS signal for example or native wifi or even usb tethering , have you tried flash another rom , it might just be the rom you have had flashed.try Cm7 or coredroid if u like to, or if you want performance try LBC v5.4 dont isntal lbcv6.0 has problem with the messages app , it crashes and you wont be able to recive SMS , you eventually will but you wont be notified .

Sense is a lot more than just a launcher. Sense permeates the entire system, which is why the current MIUI looks ugly as it is based on the Sense ICS ROM, even though there is no Sense functionality in the launcher at all.

yes mate I do agree with ya , what am trying to say is that he can aways install nova launcher, apex launcher and etc to get different experience of the handset and save up some decent memory , example is me using sense and I got lag and crashes more often than if I use home replacement such as nova for example ,and as far as i know and hope am right for my self sake is that when you are not using sense the usage of some sense addons, apps, widgets or however you call it or lets say services from the sense become not active and + with sense 2.1 which is on my device at the moment according to ES task manager widget i get no more than 330 free ram it varies between 260 and 330 , atm am trying put the TSF shell or however is called and even that launcher gives me pretty decent performance on my device but not as much as Holo Launcher does.
Talking about sense, i realy love 4 sense, it's smooth and really comfortable, but i'm borried with it. And now i use jellytime, it meets me at al. Simple style, informative, and wifi working better)and developers dont need to port launcher every time new android comes) i made some upgrade with a piece of wire, and wifi signal is much better

The problem can't be with the access point. I have full signal strength with other devices whereas on my DS it would keep fluctuating.
Besides, I mentioned in the first post that the signal strength was much better when I was on stock rom as opposed to now.
hmm, got no idea but i hope is something to deal with the software and not the hardware :S

What can i say, it works!) So if you are not afraid of your hands, you can try to longer your anthena. May be it's really a hardware problem of DS.
By the way, the couse of this problem can be wifi drivers. But i cant say that signal was more stabel on stock rom..

No ideas?
Just installed Fallout Evolution v5. It seems like my unstable wifi issues has been a result of using ASOP roms. While my issue hasn't been solved it seems I can enjoy full and stable wifi signal with Sense roms.
I've noticed I always have less wifi signal bars on aosp roms, but it seems to work just as well for me, maybe I just have good signal wherever I use wifi, so it's not critical if it drops a bar or 2. I must check some time what the reported dBm value is, whether it's much different.
