I have a samsung galaxy s i9001.
I rooted my phone.
I instal Terminal Emulator .
and when I type cat /efs/nv_data.bin >> /sdcard/nv_data.bin I recevide :
/efs/nv_data.bin: Nosuch file or directory.
after that I go to /sdcard and I saw a file nv_data.bin.

I don't really know how to unlock but here's a quick question, do you use T-Mobile? If you do it's already unlocked

Does anyone have this smartphone? It's possible to unlock it?
Are there any application to change the appearence, like manilla, ROMs, etc.?
It would be great if anyone develop ROMs for this smartphone...
Best regards
what you mean unlock ?
you want to rewrite ? just use unlock tool, only change some regist entry.
we can copy all file out.
and you can modify it, repackage , write back . works fine.
i mean unlock SIM phone.
And i´m surch for some ROMS for it.

i'm not sure, but the "Windows" folder on your phone have 2 or more files named networklock.exe or simlock.exe, just erase that files (if you found it) and other files like sinmlock.0xxx.mui or networklock.0xxx.mui and you must have unlocked your phone after that....
A friend of mine told me that, but i'm not sure if it works on your phone....
PD: Sorry for my bad english, i'm not sure if i write all correctly...

Hi all,
I have been using Captivate for a while, rooted and flashed with new rom's etc....now I want to unlock it to use on other carriers and cant find /efs/nv_data.bin file...looks like I might have deleted this partition...
is there any other way to unlock with out the original nv_data.bin file? my phone does show me correct IMEI number so..is there a way to find the unlock code based on that IMEI number?
appreciate all your help.
I did a master clear and flashed it back to original rom with Odin but still can't seem to find /efs/nv_data.bin ??
I only have 3 folders now..
Android
DCIM
sd
You can not see the file with the stock file manager. You need to root then use either root explorer or super manager
MIUI
search for galaxy s unlock by Herloz in the market. i have a used cappy with a corrupt nv_data.bin, and using super one click returned the fffffffff code. the app worked a treat and the unlock has stayed thru a few roms now. it doesn't repair the code but does the trick.
I have a Commtiva N700 which I reaaly like as it was dirt cheap and gives me something other than my SGS which is essential to my ministry to play with. I have root and Superuser and have installed Root Explorer. Now I have read that before I go any further I need to back up my EFS folder but for the life of me I cannot find it and I have been through the whole file system and done several searches. Does anyone have a clue where I find it so I can back it up safely (the N700 also has phone capabilities in the UK)
Any help appreciated.
P.S there is no section for this tab on XDA hence my posting Q here.
Question & Answer is always right for questions .
Code:
/ $ cd efs
cd efs
/efs $ pwd
pwd
/efs
On my sgs the directory is right at the root directory.
Did you try 'find -name efs' ?
Thanks for your answer but just to be clear this question relates to my Commtiva N700 Android Tablet.
I am following this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980157&highlight=bml3
And I can't find the find in using the andriod emulator,
I have used the ls command, went around checking if bml3 exists. With no avail, and yes I have the superuser permission. I got root explorer and tried to search then as well, but I only find this file "bml12" ?
I need to unlock this phone by tomorrow, any help would be really appreciated ? Thanks
Found the solution
The emulator terminal was not working for me because the bml3.bak file didn't exist for some reason, Insted get this from file nv_data.bin from efs/root/afs/settings. You can use this app OI file manager to easily copy it, also if you can't find this file you can Root explorer app.
And also the 010 hex editor is know 010 editor now, and the modified settings is Line width>custom width>set to 32 . You can then find the 8-ASCII digits on the third window panel .Thank you for all the help ,
Hello together,
i hope you guys can help me out here. Today my Nexus 5 has been stolen. Now i want to prosecute but i need my IMEI. I am currently not at home but i got my laptop with a backup made by TWRP.
The folder looks like this:
http ://puu.sh/ nzexP/cfbff68baf.png (remove the spaces, i am new here thats why i cant post links yet)
As you can see there are some files and also two files efs1 efs2. But i dont know how to extract those or where to find my IMEI in that files.
Could someone please help me with that?
Thanks in advance
Edit: I found something in that recovery.log which might help to extract it? The log says:
Backing up EFS...
I:Backup command: 'dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of='/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/05f111c90047784e/2015-08-18--14-50-33_cm_hammerheadcaf-userdebug_5.1.1_LMY48G_501//efs1.emmc.win' bs=1048576 count=3'

Maybe you guys now know which command the file was created with and you maybe know something for this in reverse to extract?
You don't have the box?
Call your carrier and they may have a record of the last IMEI for yoru nexus 5.
I have Bell Canada as my carrier and their system is able to read the imei from my phone.

Isnt it possible to extract this backup files?
If you go to Google dashboard it will give you a list of all Android devices ever signed in to that account. Including IMEI.
