As you can see, in sleep mode, its fantastic.
But on screen on
Look how fast it drains! All I had was WiFi on and I was just surfing around forums etc.
From my stats can anyone say this is normal?
It Just seems to be draining a lot faster recently
Cheers.

hello, afraid that those sleep figures look wrong. but only in a good way, in that I've never seen any ROM get anything as low as -1mA! even pure asop don't manage that good when sleeping on this device, so something is clearly awry here.
Best I've ever seen on a sleeping DS with sense is 6-9mA. So I suspect something is not quite right here?!
I also notice that you're using aeroplane mode, I've written before, that this isn't a good idea on sense Roms as it consumes more power than leaving it off - a strange flaw that I've always found present in every single version of build and radio that I've ever used, so quite curious to see if your figures are being correctly reported and what's different in our setups.
I also run the battery monitor widget so that it collects ever minute. I'd say that the screen on usage is high but normal. Try altering yours to gather more stats.
what size battery are you using and is this configured correctly in monitoring app? Is it an original HTC battery?
Been on endy for months so can happily say that i have a good feel for it's battery consumption.
I suggest that you perform a battery recalibrate and then a full charge.

Thanks for the reply Ben! (I was secretly aiming this thread at you, as I know you know a lot about the battery app )
Yes, I was indeed surprised when I realized my phone is only at -1ma! Well, I locked my phone at around 1:30AM with 90% battery left, and today it only dropped 1% after 9 hours... Is that good? Because I rarely ever leave my phone in sleep mode overnight, but when I do, I used to lose 3-4% (Stock ROM unrooted - Airplane mode)
My current settings are - 122mhz - 384mhz (virtuous) in sleep mode. And I UV by -150V. Could that explain anything about the -1ma?
I have a stock HTC Battery, and I have configured the Battery monitor that I have 1450mAh battery. (Stock battery capacity)
I keep my phone on Airplane mode about 80% of the time since I first got it. I only use network when I'm out of the house, but when I'm home, I leave it on Airplane mode. I have been doing this since I first got the phone on ALL ROMs, and strangely, I have never encountered this Airplane mode bug at all
But having said all that, the app may be reading the battery wrong as you said. Notice how in 5 minutes it dropped 5% (88% - 83%!) and on other times it only dropped 1% in 5 minutes?!
I'm not to sure about these stats, as I never use the app, and only just downloaded it last night (after I realized I was suffering from bad battery life for the last week)
Right now, my phone is at 58%... And it had 90% this morning. It's dropping so fast!
I have been using Endymion for a long time too. on the 26th January I made a clean install of 3.4. So I have been using this current setup of Endy for the last 3 months. I never had issues before that!
But recently in the last week, I have gone on a flashing spree, and I think I have flashed about 5 different ROMs this week (constantly doing backup & restores!)
Maybe the backup & restores may alter the battery calibrations settings, and I need to wait for the battery to calibrate again?
I restored Endymion 2 days ago...
How else can I configure the app like you say? Should I monitor it every minute now?
Cheers!

you need to upgrade to CM7. i was getting about a day and a half. right now i'm at almost 7 hrs and its just under a quarter of the way down.
This is on xboarders ota update zip, I was running cm7 prior to this, but I'm trying to sell/trade this to get an iPhone 4 so I flashed this over cm7, my battery life wasn't that much of a difference on cm7, stock, faux, eaglesblood, bionx or using the uc /ov faux kernel, its really android in general they have yet to release a phone that I'm satisfied with as far as battery use, if i still have android when ice cream sandwich /cm8 comes out and I still have this issue I'm going to the iPhone.

Okay. Assumptions just from looking at the graph....
Phone was awake with the screen on for about 2 hours straight? Is that normal usage for you? Screen on for 2 hours may take about half your battery depending on what you're doing while it's on.

And this will probably continue to happen as I've heard the level of synchronization that Android does is a lot higher than that of the iPhone and there is a lot of data transfer in the background associated with any widgets and apps are running in the background among other things. Never used an iPhone so I don't have any personal experience. Just what I've heard.

well sell it so you can get your iphone and make sure you have your brain and soul ready to handy over to steve jobs and his minions whenever you walk up to the counter. btw faux's kernel is really good with battery life was getting a day plus.
Yeah that's normal usage for me, but either way I've had a g1, my touch 3g, Samsung vibrant, mytouch4g, it hasn't changed even when I'm not using my phone battery drains fast, I have used juicedefender b4 but now I just want to use my phone without disabling everything that I bought it for anyways, Im just saying I've never had this problem with an iPhone.

i dont think youre going to get much more battery life that that on any phone with the screen on 3-4 hours will drain your battery, if thats your regular ussage might be smarter to invest in a netbook or laptop.. even those will only give you a couple hours battery lol i dont think manufacturers make phone with users who keep them on 100% in mind =/
specially since youre on 4g too, 4g drains the battery alot faster than wifi, screen on 2hours + 4g 3-4 hours of life on a charge isnt something to get all emotional about
also investing 20$ on ebay for a 3500mah battery or 2 of them, its what people who want to use their phones like that do
might squeeze more life out of the phone if you tone the brightness down to the lowest you can without straining your vision? D:

Hmm honestly I was actually unhappier with the iphone 4 battery life than I was with any of my androids (with the exception of the Milestone). Wouldn't even last me 3/4 of the day. I finally ended up getting the Mophie Juice Pack and then it became reasonable.
Yeah I was gonna buy the extended battery but, if I'm going to get rid of this phone I'm not gonna waste any more money on it.

I agree with this. I am having great battery life with Faux's kernel.
I came to the droid after having th iPhone since day 1 of release. I traded my iPhone4 for my G2x and could not be happier. While the Iphone has a bit better screen you will end up in the Iron Fist of Apple. Yes, you can jailbreak and all that fun stuff much like you can with the droid OS. But Apple spends a ton of money trying to stay ahead of the dev teams and one day the may get it right.
If you want full control over what YOUR phone can or cannot do I recommend staying away from the Apple products.

If normal usage for you is that the screen is on for 95% of the time, then to make it through a day, you would need a phone that is capable of 15.2 hours of screen awake time. (Assuming 8 hours if sleep)
I don't know of any smartphone that is or ever will be capable of that.
Your usage is not typical consumer use and I can guarantee you that a company will not invest the money to satisfy your bizarre phone using habits.
You really should consider using a desktop PC if you plan on staring at the screen for that many hours.

question.... are you a heavy user? I don't get anywhere NEAR that long with battery. 6 or 7 hours is standard for me with heavy to obsessive use.
Dude, if you play Angry Birds for 3 hours straight it's going to kill your battery. Getting an iPhone isn't going to change that.
Looks like you use your phone as much as me, OP. There are some basic things you can do to improve battery life to some degree, but you wont get much better than that with the stock battery. I wish battery efficiency was advancing as quickly as phone technology. Lol ... If I use my phone primarily as a phone then it lasts a normal day no problem. But I use ALL of my phones features, and I use them constantly, so I opted to get this:
I can go 2 days of my normal heavy usage with absolutely no worries I'm going to run out of battery power. And its a great conversation starter lol.

Found these batteries on Amazon.
1500mAh - http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0051N1MTY/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
1600mAh - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0052QSTYQ/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
Seem cheap and based on the reviews, they seem to work really well!
See the Sensation 1900mAh - http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B0053EZJMC/ref=aw_d_cr_electronics
^Check out the reviews there! They seem to be very good for the sensation!
These batteries are dirt cheap, and seem to work well for other devices!
Anyone own one of these?
Can you give your reviews?
Cheers

I know you'll be wondering where did I dig up this topic
Well... during the last week I've noticed a drop in my battery life with normal daily use (the phone lasts around 14 hours), if I play a bit more with it (check xda, twitter, facebook and send 5-6 emails) my ds barelly makes it for 10 hours...
I've got my DS last May or June and I had it untill a couple of weeks ago running stock (2.3.5 OTA) and I'm on CoreDroid.
What's your review of these batteries?
As I saw they're no longer available and I just ordered a 1800mAh Mugen for 44$.
It's the 1st time that I'll use a 3rd party battery on a smartphone and I'm a bit anxious. Is there anything that I should be worried? Has anyone had experience with mugen batteries? I've read that they are good but I would like to someone's experience from here )
Thanks!

Plus I feel duty-bound to mention that the latest build of CoreDroid is causing some very odd battery drain on some peoples phones. It's not consistent though (some DS users do have it, some don't. Same with DHD and sensastion and mytouch) which is making tracking down the issue take longer than normal.
My use has also gone from 24 hours to 12 because of this.
Please try restoring to an earlier build. You may be one of the people with the drain. Wouldn't want you buying a new battery thinking your current one needs replacing!

Thanks for the extra hint wnp_79, but I'm not running the latest version, I'm on v2.0. The truth is that there have been days that its stock battery lasts longer, e.g. yesterday I took it of the charger at 8am and at 00:30 I was still at 49% (usually I'm at 7-10% by that time). I did not use my DS that much during the day though.
I have already ordered the mugen 1800mAh since I think that my battery has lost its power
Nevertheless do you still suggest that I try an older version of CoreDroid? Or to upgrade to the latest version?
Thanks in advance for your answer!

Just wrapping up testing on a new release so probably best waiting for that. I think 2.0 was unaffected too. Can't be certain when it started as its been random. A RIL issue we think now. Your battery usage sounds ok.

I think my DS OEM battery is dying or something, i got the device second-hand and the battery would last like 5 hours on normal use, 10 if i only use it minimally, the battery would stay @100% for a while then keeps dropping quickly oAo you can actually look at the marker and see it drop right there ono.
plus, it takes about 8 hours to charge, the charge is pretty good from 0-40% then it only charges like 72mAh from 45-90% then the rest is good, then only lasts for 5.
i looked up the anker's battery and looks good n cheap o.o they don't ship to here so i made my uncle buy it and send it via USP, i'll post a review once it arrives (on endymion 3.4 now ouo)
I look forward to the review!

Well using the Hyperion batteries i'm getting about 1-2 days, they took a while to reach their whole potential (about like 4 weeks?) but they're not bad, and i have 1 for backup so all good.
1 day 5 hours 30 minutes of moderate usage and i just hit the 50% mark. :3
Could you compare that to the OEM batterie?
Because I'm also getting one day and 50% by using my phone "normally". Well depending on the Rom i use..
And there are some risk of boom cheap battaries?
DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE AN EXTENDED BATTERY!!!
Will cause worse battery life than you had as this is for stock battery
I came up with an idea last night.
To try using a batterystats.bin file from someone that gets up to 15 hours of battery life...so me and jcmaddox1 did the best calibration we could and we are going to upload out batterystats file asap
I am going to make a flashable zip as soon as I can but for now, you will have to do it manually.
1.go to Data/system
2.delete your batterystats.bin while your phone is on the charger(VERY IMPORTANT)
3.copy your downloaded battery stats to the same directory(make sure the permissions are set correctly [rw---])
4.reboot!
Also...it is not a risky thing to do but if you are somewhat satisfied with you battery now...it is a good idea to save current battstats to sdcard
Please test and report if it works or not and if you got better battery life with these files
when you report back please include
Results, the rom you are using,a summery of what you did while testing (eg how much time on internet and calls and how many text and so on)
And a screenshot of the battery history would be appreciated

i honestly don't think this will make much of a difference. i feel like radio/ril combo, as well as apps that have abnormal wakelocks are MUCH bigger determinants of battery life. i've spent the past 2-3 weeks being hyperaware of everything going on with regard to battery life. i've been able to often times flat-line my battery usage curve for hours if i'm not using the phone and often times also in between usage.
but either way, i'm interested to see the results. using my nokia for the time being so i won't be partaking in this but will be watching it closely

Its mainly to save time with out having to calibrate battery every time you flash a rom...but sometimes you can get a perfect calibration and we uploaded those

The .bin file is a log of YOUR own battery's depletion, and outputs the battery depletion in percentage, and depletion varies greatly depending on type of Rom, kernel etc. Using someone else's stats is going to do any good. In contrast its going to affect the battery health, giving false readings. The best way is to use battery calibration app, and calibrate after each Rom flash. Once again the .bin file will not boost your battery, and will give false readings if inserted from another rom .
Just flash a new rom and wipe the stats. That's it.

Save time from charging and discharging it completely.
--Sent from my Inspire 4G being fat with its Ice Cream Sandwich --
But the phone needs to be fully charged. End of.
Your phone will give you false readings about the battery health.

I meant by charging and discharging as it you won't have to calibrate it, these batter stats were from heavy use so it won't give false readings unless your phones battery its self is messed up
--Sent from my Inspire 4G being fat with its Ice Cream Sandwich --
But the point remains, the stats are from another phone, with a different rom and kernel, inserted into your phone which has a different battery level also, trust me, it's a theory that will not work.
Just wipe stats at 100% after a new rom flash. That's all there is to it.
I am currently using AOSP+ with the speedy 5 kernel and its chewing up my battery life like theres no tomorrow. I'm dropping at an average of 10% per hour. Autosync, brightness, update intervals disabled or turned down to minimal. My wakelocks are normal. The thing that bothers me the most is the Android OS that's chewing up 45-50% of my battery life. I never had this problem at all with gb. I can go 16-17 hrs without a charge.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try downgrading to the Speedy-4 Kernel. I'm running the latest AOSP+ rom with the Speedy-4 kernel and my battery life is excellent. I can post a download link to the Speedy-4 kernel if you're interested.

I have the same configuration, Skype used to eat most of my battery and I think this is because Skype haven't update their app yet. I don't use maps or location services, but I noticed that google location service is always on, I forced closed it ( it gets back sometimes) Anyway, after closing skype my battery performance is ok. I used to lose 10%/ hour even if the phone was idle, after these mods I think I lost less than 5% in three idle hours.
Most of the custom ROMs and kernels are rubbish, aren't they? I mean if people really knew what they were doing, they'd work together with kalimochoAz on the official source. Or at least port it back upstream once they've got it working...

What?! No, wtf kind of comment is this?
I personally run AOKP Milestone 2 with Steve Garon's 1.12 kernel and my stock battery runs 30+ hrs with fairly heavy usage.
AOKP/Garon have awesome features above and beyond cm9/kali at this point, and performance has been flawless.

Google Services is running in the background. I unchecked all "location services" and even unchecked automatic restore and backup.
i've been reading reports of users with N4's getting upwards of 50% increased battery life with the latest stock 4.2.2 update... found multiple people reporting the same thing on the N7 as well... i wonder what was in that update and i wonder if anyone that was using a 4.2.1 ROM that's now on 4.2.2 can share their experience on any increases or decreases they've noticed...
I'm currently running BB7, which is a 4.2.1 based ROM... was thinking of trying another ROM but obviously want to go to a 4.2.2 ROM with theme chooser to find out... just want some feedback before i make the jump...

i flashed a test build for BB8 earlier today... charged up and so far with sync on (usually kills my battery) and 4G/gps on as well and i dropped about 5% in just about 1.5hrs... that seems pretty good for me so far... i usually have to turn off sync and all data services to stay at a steady % for a while... hopefully when i turn thos things off, it won't barely drop... oh and that's with like 10mins of screen so far lol... just a few texts and screenshots to upload some images for my new theme!
This was on the first discharge cycle after flashing the new 4.2.2 Greenblue AOSP. I think it is going to get even better!

How does the battery screen look though?
i'm extremely lucky if i can get 3hrs of screen time... i usually would get around 2-2.5hrs of screen... i also usually have 4G turned on... that 7hrs is not normal and def looks like an extended battery... no way thats stock... if so, what are your exact settings?
btw, my 2 days on 4.2.2 so far have been about the same as with 4.2.1 as far as battery goes... maybe a slight increase in idle time when i have everything turned off (not airplane just data/wifi/gps/sync/etc turned off)... still too early to tell for sure tho!

that cant be true...i used that combination many times and the most screen time i got was 4h30. i have seen some guys reach 5h and something but 7h and still 26% is just ridiculous. did you restore a nandroid backup that had screen on time recorded or something?
the only way i could consider that is if you put the cpu max @100mhz and left the phone with the screen on for those 7 hours without touching it lol
The best I've ever gotten was 5:20 hours of screen on time with a few 4+ hours of screen on time. I can only do it if I have WiFi & great signal like 3 or 4 bars & the ROM has to be CM10 stable which gives me best battery I've ever gotten I've said this in a few threads already. I can't believe 7+ hours of screen on time with stock 1500mah battery in the Nexus S!
