[Q] Why is my infuse keeping apps from previous rom? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I recently tried installing Gamerzrom to my infuse, I then used hellraiser because that is the way to get it working... Since then my phone bootloops on any custom rom i install. And when I Odin, or heimdall back to eather froyo OR gingerbread it keeps previous apps such as go launcher, and a few others, they of course crash and cause system errors. How can I fix thi?\s?

heimdall twice with BL checked the second time.
or a reset to erase EVERYTHING when in the ROM /menu/settings/privacy

I think it could have something to do with the apps installed under Android folder on your external SD. Can't say for sure though.

Lost all my apps after reboot... (Infuse 4G)

I am posting this as somewhat of a noob...
I went from ROM after ROM after ROM with no problem. Then I installed Dlev GB (WICKED SWEET!!!!) and reinstalled my all my apps with TiBu; but upon getting every thing I wanted set up, restarting, I lost ALL of my apps over and over. I then started to Data wipe and Dalvik wipe and install repetedly trying to get it working. NO SUCCESS... Then went back to stock using gtg's "Returne to Stock" (Always a HUGE THANK YOU!!!!) and started from scratch as it were. Installed Modded CWM again gtg, and then installed Dlev one more time... Come to find out that i REALLY screwed things over before doing the return to stock. What also was happening was that each time that I would use TiBu, it would throw EVERYTHING into my System Partition instead of just installing it in the USB/Internal SD.
So if you are running across this also... Here is the way I worked it out. It doesnt take all that long, just get all your tools infront of you before going forward.
Tools list:
[ODIN][UCKD5] GTG's Ultimate Unbrick - Return to stock - Working PIT included (gtg465x)
[RECOVERY] 100% working ClockworkMod Recovery for Infuse 4G (gtg465x)
USB Cable
What ever ROM you would like to install
And that is it!! Just start going step by step and you will be on your way to a clean slate. Enjoy! But don't come back to me if you do something wrong and Brick the Junk out of your Infuse! I'm just stating what helped me and hopefully it will for you if your in the same boat.

[Q] Some apps not saving preferences

I recently was playing with one of those bloatware freezing apps. I froze only the obvious ones like buddies now etc. Something happened though. After I was done the icon tray was gone, and the home buton did'nt work at all. The phone was basically a brick because I couldn't get to any apps. So I did a factory restore. It did it and some of the apps were still there but crashed. So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it back through market.
Now things kind of work but everytime I load some apps I get messages like it was installed for the first time even if I ran them before. None of the preferences are saved. If I leave them in RAM they remember but if I go to the task manager and flush RAM when I restart all preferences are gone again. Nothing is being written or saved to the system like it should be. The theme chooser in Astro file manager doesn't work at all.
What the hell is going on and how can I fix it? I am using the stock ROM and rooted.

dave,
if a factory reset didn't fix your problem,
you will have to flash your phone back to stock.
you can use gtg's ultimate unbrick - stock froyo
h8rift root and 3e recovery - stock froyo, rooted with 3e recovery or
adam outler's heimdall one click to gb leak, uckj4 stock.
you can find these in the dev superthread or some of my quick links

Hi,
Sorry I screwed that up. I couldn't get into the interface to do a factory reset. So what i did was flash back to stock with odin. After I did that the apps were still there but many didn't work. I uninstalled them and re-installed and they worked as stated with glitches.
Maybe I needed to flash to stock then do a factory reset to clean things up?

yeah, if you wanted to clean up everything, do a factory reset. Take off all the files and pictures you want from the phone including your micro sd card if you gave one.
Go to settings. Privacy. Factory reset.
Put phone into download mode.
Use gtg's ultimate unbrick if you want to go back to stock froyo. Then do the ota update.

[Q] doubt about ICS then Back Froyo

1st i wouldnt recoment using Kies to anything with the Infuse
2nd read up on how to use Odin or Heimdall for the infuse
theyre the quickest and possibly the safest ways to jump from diff firmware
3rd GB BL shouldnt affect anything once you have the GB ones i believe
but i strongly recommend either Heimdall and Odin
Search GTG Ultimate Unbrick
and why froyo when you ve got amazing GB Roms and a pretty good ICS rom??
just curious
After flashing ICS if you want to go back to froyo/gb simply use Heimdall one click/Odin. Done and done. I've done it several times, no errors, no consequences

Malisiousintent's post above is perhaps the best way to go back from CM9. Here is an alternate way that may be more comfortable for some (respectfully submitted) After wiping data, cache, and dalvik as usual go to mounts and storage and format system, data, and cache. (You can not do a restore at this point) Do a fresh install of the rom you want to go back to and reboot. If you do not have a restore then set it up as you wish and you are good to go. If you have a restore, skip through the setup, let the media scanners finish then reboot into recovery. Wipe only cache and dalvik - go to backup and restore and choose the rom to restore. Obviously it will be a version that you customized of the fresh install you just did. Reboot and all will be like it was pre- ICS. Have done this and it works fine.
You can't go all the way back to Froyo from ICS - there is no way to revert the bootloaders. You can go back to Gingerbread easily.
"stock" on the Infuse is now Gingerbread anyway, now that UCLB3 is official.

Infuse being laggy

So about two weeks ago Ive noticed my infuse starting to get laggy. Now its laggy all the time. Ive tried reinstalling CM7 and nothing, Ive installed CM9 and it still lags. can anybody help with this?
Did you try any other ROMs and noticed similar behavior?
If you use Google voice it will cause that. Make sure when you first reinstall a rom don't add any apps... run it and see if its laggy. If not install your apps you always use one at a time... if after installing one Ans you notice lag you got your culprit. GV used to do this to my aria

i would backup everyone on both of you sd cards to a computer.
(also back up any apps with titanium and text and such)
read this whole page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
then flash stock gingerbread
factory reset your phone
then flash the kernal in the same thread
(format your external sd in your pc, then put it back in your phone and format it with your phone)
remember to back up things on the phone, then move them over to your pc before you start this process, because EVERYTHING on your phone will be wiped
then flash a rom again, from this clean of a state it should fix pretty much anything.

Before ive ran lots of different roms with no problems, ive been running cm7 for a few months now and its just now starting to act like this. I must have installed a bad file or something.

[Q] All apps force close on boot, even after wiping and flashing stock

I was running a stock backup, when I decided to try installing Tweaked 2.0 (via ODIN). That didn't work (I watched the boot animation for a long time, and I don't think it ever got up and running; maybe just rebooted over and over).
Anyway, since Tweaked 2.0 didn't work, I installed TweakStock 1.4 via ODIN, which I have done before and had success with. This also didn't work.
And yes, I wiped data, cache, and Dalvik cache when I installed these ROMs.
So, I installed Clockwork Recovery, and had it restore an update, which I have had zero problems with in the past. This time, the restore completed, but when I restarted and got into the OS, *everything* force closed immediately -- even stuff that couldn't possibly be running. After dealing with many freezes while attempting to dismiss this dialog, the radio would lose and regain connection, and I received no updates (e.g. new texts, emails), and the OS eventually became unusable.
What can I possibly do? I have tried clearing data, cache, Dalvik cache, and flashing with stock roms and modified roms, but nothing works: everything results in the situation above.
I know this seems like a duplicate thread, but none of the other threads I found addressed my specific issue, and none of the fixes worked.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
U r flash dancing between roms where one is fp1 n the other is ep4. If u flashed tweaked2.0 on a ep4 kernel its not gna work.
Cwm recovery never works so thts not a surprise.
My suggestion would be to go the post called "how to fix ur phone" flash back to stock using the .pit file. From there boot up ur phone, do the ota update to fp1. Then odin cwm n flash tweaked 2.0

I've installed imnuts' EP4 (Android 2.3) ROM, along with the PIT file, and still had these issues. I can try it again when I get home, but I'm not optimistic.
Do I need to install a kernel or modem or something independent of these ROM flashes?
Well unless the rom says it has a kernel included, it doest. Im thinkin u may have flashed a fp1 rom on an ep4 kernel or vice versa. The flashing back to stock n using the pit file should at least get u runnin on stock ep4 again. After that, if u want to stay ep4 u have to flash tweaked 1.5, or update ur kernel to stock fp1 or the pjb fp1 kernel in which case u can flash tweaked 2.0
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
I've tried flashing with stock ROMs and kernels (EP4 at the last attempt, from imnuts.org), and absolutely nothing works. Assuming I get the phone to boot all the way up, once the Setup Wizard is finally displayed, I start getting tons of seemingly random Force Stop messages -- including for the Setup Wizard itself.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my phone? Is there something that these flashes are missing that needs to be fixed? Is it a hardware malfunction?
when u flashed in Odin, u put the ROM in the PDA slot, correct? I've messed up flashes a bunch of times and I just follow the "How to fix your phone" post and it always gets it up and running again. Maybe you have something on ur sd card that is screwin stuff up. Try flashing back to stock (with pit) without ur sd card in the phone.
cnoevl21, thank you for all your attention. I did try just booting without the SD card in now, just to see what would happen. That didn't change anything. I'll take it out completely, along with the SIM card, and reflash.
edit: Yes I used the PDA slot I'm very paranoid about it!
Use Samsung PST to flash an OTA stock (stock, not rooted or debloated or anything) and repartition with the PIT. If it keeps happening keep trying-eventually it goes away. I've had this problem several times.
