[Q] samsung galaxy s 4g hard brick

Hi,
I have a samsung galaxy s 4g. A green screen came and i removed the battery and reinserted but the phone doesn't respond at all. I t is completely unresponsive to any buttons. Please help me if any one had a similar problem and recovered from it.

Hi, what happened before the screen turned green? Were you installing a new ROM, already running a custom ROM, overclocking/underclocking, or anything?

You will have to odin it. It sounds like you will have a black screen when doing this. I so take battery out plug usb in to pc and phone put battery in and immediately hold the down volume button. This will get you into download mode and odin should recognize your phone. Flash your rom and you are good to go. I had a problem like this, I was using odin and my son unplugged it causing a complete black screen.

I've had my share of the black screen install.... Heart still drops until the progress bar pops up

screen flips out, almost like filter color ?

every once and a while when i go to unlock my infuse, my screen is messed up.
it looks like normal but everything is 1 color a lot of the times blue.
strangely my last one did this as well.
any ideas what causes this ? thanks
(if i lock my phone, then unlock it, it goes back to normal when this happens)

Bump anyone have any ideas?

I get this too.

What rom are you on? I've only seen this happen while on Galnet's MIUI rom. Sometimes it's red, the other times it's blue.

Me too...I kinda liked it lol
Never knew what color id get...red, green, blue, yellow, pink, purple....seen them all....bur now im on zeus and havent seen it yet

idk..I'm wondering if this is the rainbow effect encountered when you are running a gb (2.3) based rom without the GB bootloaders.
possible solution: flash gb bl from dani's post. flash to a stock gb leak before flashing a custom rom - uckj4 or above should have bl included

I've had the gb bl from at&T's leak ever since it came out. It's not it.

Fwiw,
I went from stock > s7 (port) > gsinfuse (port) > galnet miui ics (port) > zeus with a few odins after s7 and one right before zeus....never heard about bls until these past weeks

its weird that a lot of us are having this problem, but it hadnt really been brought to attention yet

fwiw,
I have tried stock leaks, victory, darky's, gsinfuse, numas, caty, bionix, and zeus...couldn't remember a few more.
I've soft bricked and boot looped a few times.
I heimdalled back to uckj4 stock and go from there.
I've not seen the colors that you have mentioned.
I've not use miui.
I usually try to wipe everything and factory reset a few times as well.
I don't usually back up any roms, kernels or nandroids.
I have backed up some apps with tibu..but restore only the app..not the data.
idk but i suspect the colors you see may be related to "unclean" flash on top of old ones or bl issue...but that is just my 2 cents...
If when you do flash a new rom, consider wiping everything and heimdall or odin a later leak before going to a new rom.

This has happened to me even on stock 2.2 when I first got the phone. Its not critical. Because as mentioned, all you have to do is hit the power button to shut the screen off. When it comes back on its fine. But it is really strange..

Yeah. Today was my first time seeing a green screen lol. So far I've seen the blue, red-pinkish, and now green screen.

Yep, I've seen it too. I just flip the screen off and on again. Not a big issue I guess, just kinda amusing.

I freaking love this.. sometimes it happens 5 times in a row. I tried taking a screenshot once when it was this BA looking black and red but it came out normal.. so I was look whatever. It's not a big deal and it doesn't happen that often. Tried almost every rom other there, and I'm pretty sure that it has happened on every one.. atleast once.

I have noticed this happen on 2.3.6 based ROMs. Our devs are already looking into this. They'll update us whenever they have any update.

Yeah it nvr lasts longer then that. That's was my first instinct to turn it off and on and it always goes away. So i have never tried to unlock the phone to see how long it stays like that. Yeah i never posted anything or cared to look up anything because it only happens once and a great while and always goes right away.

Me too. But its not a big deal. Just lock it and then unlock it and it goes back to normal.

Well I have a sgs2, used to have a infuse, picked up another infuse last week for 200 to mess with, very comfortable with routing, roms ect....on the infuse and the sgs2,BUT there was something weird with the infuse, got a rom on it rooted and going, formatted sdcard by accident, went into dl to go back to stock rooted, power went out because if storm outside...;( now all I greet is a white screen....plug in USB white screen, put battery and white screen, constant on both, not sure if it's ducked for good or maybe someone had a few ideas I can try...but I can't even get into dl mode, pushing both volume down and plug USB in....white screen,any time there is power to it, white screen, any help would be greatly appreciated...

Anyone, I'm thinking that maybe b ootloaders got screwed, any way to flash them through USB connection.....jeez I hope the phone is not shot....

Does oden see the phone when you hook it to computer I have seen the white screen try putting it in download mode even if you can't see it it might go into download mode you can tell if the yellow com comes up in oden

it may be hardware.
you may try to use the jig as a first option.
if that doesn't work, you may have to warranty the phone thru samsung as hw failure or send it to one of those guys in the yt vid

Thanks so much man, finally got Odin to recognize with white screen, still wouldn'tflash, would fail 1/2 way through, them ran heimdall jar and it worked, got stock back on at least, seems I might have a bootloader issue, as it won't turn on now unless it's plunged into power (wall or USB) can I just click flash bootloaders in heimdall? Thank you so much for the help! Almost got it!

Make sure your battery is good or charged past half.
Either heimdall package will work...follow op's. Flash twice for BL's

Put it in dl mode even with the white screen, then reinstall kies on your computer for the drivers, then open Odin and it should recognize,I actually used heimdall and a jar file to flash it, works good now, but I can't seem to root, and I can't turn my phone on from power of unless it's plugged in...pm me if any issues

np..maybe it's your battery that's bad.
try a different 1.
if you use heimdall frontend, you need pit and repartition unless you also use the 1 click packages
i'm wondering if it's your battery...

I was thinking too...but my battery even at 100% and I power off I can't turn it on unless it has pee to it... No power hooked up I have to hold power Burton for about 10 seconds then the picture of the 0 battery appears with the little charging star, then dies.... Pee plugged in,I hold power for about 10 seconds and I get the same thing but it goes from 0% battery pic to green charging battery, then I have to hold power again and it will bout up fine...very strange, wish I has another battery kicking around, but I just gave my star...lol

Sounded like you were fortunate to get it running again.
I couldn't tell if it's your charging port or the battery is bad. I have read of corrosion issues as well.
If you have a captivate battery sitting around, it may loosely fit to test out the battery theory.
You can also try a att kiosk or store..they can test it for you.

how did you get odin to recognize it?

[Q] Infuse screen bright neon blue/pink on unlock

sometimes when i turn on my phone with the power button, the whole screen is a neon pink or blue colour. you can still see everything through it, its like there is a transparent neon pink screen over it. everything still works fine, and it doesnt go away untill i turn off the screen and turn it back on, like lock and unlock. it has only happened a few times, and i want to know why. i am running ZEUS 6, on rogers canada. thanks.

If boot loaders are messed up, your phone won't boot up in the first place and give you a rainbow screen (colored lines all across the screen). From what you mentioned, its doesn't seem so. Its a normal issue due to some display drivers problem. Don't bother too much. Just turn the screen off and on.

[Q] Kernel Panic Upload Mode + Battery Issues

After some embarrassing attempts to first install CM9, then AOKP's ICS, I was finally able to get my phone back to stock, started the root/flashing process and now have AOKP on my Infuse.
I sporadically get the Kernel Panic Upload Mode message on my phone. It has happened (coincidence or not) around the point where my battery states I have near 50% left.
Could it be possible that my battery meter isn't reading correctly? I recall seeing in CMW recovery mode an option to wipe battery stats. Would that "reset" the battery meter for me?

I don't know of this makes sense, but now when I get the Kernel Panic Upload Mode, the Android character can be found layered on top of the red text on the error screen. This is getting stranger by the day. Might this have something to do with my record recovery?

I installed AOKP 2 last night, and I think I'm now getting an accurate reading of my battery.
Either that or my phone doesn't like this ROM and is draining my battery.
