Q: Miui flashing? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I am on a current weekly build of miui, can I flash a STABLE release and not have to redownload all of my apps? Like will everything b saved or is flashing a stable build wiping everything ?
Sent my Galnet MiUi 2.3.9 INfuse!!

I just did the same thing and I used titanium backup to backup everything. I didn't want to risk one rom interfering with another because I've had problems before. Good luck with whatever you decide.

If going to the stable version you will need to wipe which will delete apps...the stable is 2.3.6, weekly is 2.3.9 i believe. So i suggests backing things up with Titanium Backup, wipe data, cache, dalvic then flash the stable version then restore apps with TB

As long as it is a later build and not an earlier build.

CWM right sir? Thankyou!
Sent from my GT-I9003 using Tapatalk
In CWM, yes.
Once you've booted in CWM you have a few menu options. One of them is wipe, where you'll be able to wipe data (applications and user data, = factory reset), cache and dalvik cache. Wipe all three, install MIUI ROM.

I have been out of the android game for a while and have only just got the nexus s 2 days ago but am now running ICS. Could someone explain why the OP would need to root his phone? As I remember you unlock the bootloader and flash CWM without the need to root.
Yes you do not have to root, but it wouldn't hurt. Optional.

Hi, I wouldn't recommend running 1.54GHz on a daily basis, for most Nexus S's it's just not stable.
But lucky for you, KelLMSKing's MIUI and Brainmasters MIUI are both nice and smooth at 1GHz, and you can allways go to 1.2 or 1.3.
Good luck mate.. ;-)
PS. Most custom roms come with superuser preinstalled. But check the rom description.

I cant find any kernels with 1.3 sir
Sent from my GT-I9003 using Tapatalk
There is a Trinity 1.3 ghz kernel.
There is no need to root first. It actually makes no sense at all unless you want to make a backup of your rooted stock rom. Otherwise you don't root the rom just to wipe and flash a pre rooted rom in the next step.

Best Rom

Hello,
Please suggest me best roms for sensation, with no bugs and stable roms.
Hi, this post was asked before, there aint no best rom. U should try n find sumtin' what fits for ya.
Myself, have installed a lotta romz, but finally am satisfied with this last one ViperS 1.6 with sense 4.1.
U hafta suppose wat do u want, being up-to-date, then choose one of those jelly bean thingz. Of course they've got much more bugz comparing to ics ones, cuz they aint representational. U want performance, choose one which is light n aint got no heavy background processes.

I would definitely suggest you try this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009
Been working with it for a week and i really love it. It's fast, stable and quite battery friendly.
Hello i am still confused using cyanogen stable 9.1 working coolcbut cm10 which u given is it stable

It's not official a stable ROM but like I said, I've been using it (thoroughly) for almost 2 weeks now and have experienced very few bugs, but so did I using CM9.1.
Why don't you try it? Just install the ROM from SD card without wiping any data or cache. You'll keep all your apps and settings and it will take like 5 min.
If you're not satisfied just recover a backup.

I don't think that's a really good idea for two reasons:
1 - I don't think it will work.
2 - Every ROM thread suggests a full wipe when coming from another ROM. In fact bruce2728, the developer of the ROM you linked before, says in the install notes:
A full wipe using 4ext is only required if coming from another ROM.
DO NOT use a superwipe script

Before flashing always make a backup of your apps and data with something like Titanium Backup and then follow carefully the installation instructions in the ROM thread

Terrible advice, ALWAYS WIPE*:
/data
/boot
/system
/cache
dalvik vm cache
ESPECIALLY when moving from a Sense ROM to an AOSP ROM.
*Not mandatory in all situations involving updating a ROM, although it is recommended.

Cm 10.1 issues

Recently flashed to the latest stable version of cm 10.1.3 rc2
The torch doesn't work and flash light apps from the play store store work but are very buggy.
Also noticed the Apollo music player force closes often especially when creating playlists and trying to add entire albums.
Also noticed that my signal isn't as good since I flashed? I end up wasting a lot of battery due to low or no signal. I always keep my data off throughout the day when I am not using it.
Anyone else having these issues?
Verizon galaxy s3 16gb sch1535
Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 r2 stable
Android 4.2.2

Also anyone know a good quality camera app? Free or paid for doesn't matter. Just something that has easy functions and takes good photos.

Re flash the ROM. . before flashing do a complete wipe. In recovery mode. Delvik , cache , every thing. And then install

Already did that. Tried the cm 4.3 build to see what features they upgraded and instead of restoring from my nandroid I just did a clean install of the 4.2 stable.
Also on the initial install it took two clean installs first one stalled so I re wiped everything and flashed again.

Just wiped everything after creating a backup and installed the cm nightly release from last night. Works well so far no issues. Even fixed the torch and Apollo issues.
4.3 has a better camera then the previous 4.2 I was using. I still do not like how the features are tho.
Still having crappy signal though. Maybe the stable version when it releases will fix my signal issue.

[Q] Restoring to a TW backup from CM 10.2

I've recently installed CM 10.2 and while I do like it much more than TW there is an issue with bluetooth audio playback that is a deal breaker for me. Before CM I was running the latest version of CleamROM (a touchwiz ROM) with lean kernel. I made a backup before I updated to CM and now I'm looking to go back to that backup.
My question is this: is there anything special I would have to do to go from AOSP to TW? Should it be as simple as restoring the backup or is there anything else I should have to do? Do I have to be careful with the kernels? Right now I have the latest AOSP Lean Kernel, when I was on TW I had the TW Lean Kernel? Will there be an issue when I restore the backup or will it restore the old kernel I was using as well?
Thank you!
If you would like to continue trying CM and don't mind using 4.2.2, the latest CM 10.1 stable build has working bluetooth. I'm using the build now and it runs like a champ.

I was able to factory reset/wipe cache and then install another ROM no problem. I'm not sure why you are not able.
