hi guys ive got the chance to to buy a desire s with a faulty digitiser for £70
is it easy to fix the digitiser anybody on here done it and how much was it?

A digitizer is probably one of the easier things to repair. You can get them cheap on eBay and I know a few people on here have done it

I just got 2 small questions. Couldn't find any topics about it in the forum.
I cracked my screen of my sensation. The LCD is fine but the digitizer is totally broke.
The local telephone repairman asked 180 euro's for it. He said he won't be able to just replace the digitizer but that he had to replace the lcd too. I found that a bit strange since I can buy a single digitizer for 60 euros online. I'm quite handy with stuff so I could do it myself.
Today I called HTC in the Netherlands to ask what they would ask for it. They said they couldn't give me a price for the repair.
Do any of you know how much it will cost, or at least give me a close indication? Preferably a dutch person because prices may be different in other countries.
And what do you suggest I choose?
Thanks in advance guys!
Bump

Did it crack by it self? Or due to fall? If it was not your mistake, why not ask for warranty?

It fell when I was taking it out of my pocket when biking to school. So I don't think warranty will help here
Why not just say you dropped it in your house? kitchen floor maybe?
In the UK you could claim accidental damage from household insurance and you'd just have to pay your excess, typically £50
Not that I am advocating such action (telling lies) but it has worked for me in the past ;P
Doesn't work that easily here. You got an idea about the price HTC would ask for replacing the digitizer?

True haha. I know about that kind of stuff. I just need an indication how much it will cost me at the HTC repair.
Edit:
Okay friends. Found a supplier laptopscreen.com
The issue is, there is no manual or video guide available. Did anyone successfully done DIY replacement of LCD or digitizer? Is it required to remove the PCB s and components for detaching the LCD from digitizer?
Any info appreciated. Thanks

Kept the tablet TF300T in my car back seat.
My friend sit over and broken the LCD. The touch panel is ok, which I checked with hdmi out. Do someone know where shall I find a replacement screen from any reliable source?
Any bricked tablet if available for sale is welcome for my purpose.

Thanks. But my friend is not much rich to bear that much. So, I have to.
Anyways, i'm from Dubai. I asked Asus and they charge almost equal to the price of a used tablet here. That's Dirhams.1300=~$350.
So looking for some online supplier. I have some knowledge to fix it myself. Just need the LCD.
I found only one on eBay but that's costly also

Your almost better off buying a new unit, my man. Unless the lcds from another asus model is compatible, which would most likely be the 700, which would be the same price.
****t id be hitting up that indoor ski resort if i lived their.
Edit: PMed you

Change the title of your thread to reflect your wish to purchase a bricked, non returnable unit for the screen.
Good Luck!

Isn't it like 130 for repairs at HTC, or is that for under warranty ie insurance phones ?

So, I tore this part of the motherboard.
Should I solder a connection back in there or am I screwed?
Try soldring it to c if it woorks else u need to buy a new motherboard flex cable n its not that expensive

I looked at it closer and that ribbon has about 50 small wires running the length of it, so there's no way I can solder it. The ribbon is wired into the blue PCB, and the whole assembly runs about $50. Not worth it for a phone I intended to use only for testing ROMs.

I also tore this piece on my motherboard during a digitizer replacement now no wifi,Bluetooth or volume buttons. I am going to replace it (30$ on eBay). Im hoping it solves my problem. I was also wondering should I reflash my rom after a dissasembly?

I can't speak to that part. I got this phone from a friend who shattered the screen, and I couldn't even flash a Rom because of the sorry state of the digitizer.

I got this last friday and dropped it on saturday. I found out that this was a slippery phone after i got it. Everything works fine on the phone, there are no problems at all except the fact that theres a big crack on the side(refer to pics attached). I have insurance, but you still have to pay the $130 deductible. So i was wondering if it's worth it to return it and get a new one from asurion?

If you can afford it, and wish to replwce it then go for it, just think if you do drop it again. That screens going to fall apart.

Its just the digitiser man, $30 part. You can fix it yourself if you're willing. The actual LCD is fine.

How hard is it to replace the digitizer? I've taken my old phones apart to replace speakers and other smaller things. But never replacing the digitizer.
It's glued to actual screen right?
I have a couple annoying scratches, which is the only reason why I would sell my phone.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
I'd just get the replacement from the insurance company. That way you avoid all hassle of looking up how to videos and who knows maybe get the Black edition one.

I paid out right for my phone, and I'm in a prepaid plan. So no insurance.
I know how to replace the entire unit, but a couple of scratches isn't worth $130. It is worth $30 however.
I was going to buy a black tmous back plate to replace also.
