Hello all,
i've searched around but couldn't find a definitive answer...
Sony recently released their new android phone called Aido, and it has a remoteplay feature to control PS3(not sure if its via blue tooth or wifi), does that mean that feature can be ported to other android powered devices???
from my understanding that should work, because PS3 alowes for blutooth remotes, so its just a matter of creating an appropriate app for android, correct?
i think its only matter of finding the app but i would like to know how 2
I couldn't find any apps for this. I would LOVE to be able to use it too. Sony Ericsson said there will be DNLA compatibility with the X10 soon, much like their Aido.
PS3 Media Server would be PERFECT as well on the Android. It encodes ANY video file on the fly and works perfectly. I stream BluRays wirelessly across my home with no effort at all.
Here's to hoping!
The handset was the Aino, it's not 'recently released' (it reached the market October of last year and is already all but discontinued) and it's not Android.
What app did you use for the phone?
Hi,
I'm considering this tablet as a gift for my gf.
I'd just need to know if there's an app/mod (I'd prefer not to root, but if it's necessary, I'm no-problem) able to read music from a PC in home, an Ubuntu machine with Samba shares.
Also, which app would you suggest in order to see, manage and perhaps lightly edit picasa pictures and albums ?
Thank you very much !!
Fabio
I use ESFile Explorer, just add your lan folder/share in ES, and thats it, you can stream/copy any file from there.
I use it to stream movies from my windows xp download machine
ES File Explorer on android market
GoogleMusic. I use it on all of my Android products and I love it. Added advantage of being able to sign in to ANY computer and have your music as well.
With a rooted Transformer you can use CIFS to basically make any network share look like a local file folder on the tablet itself, as long as you're on the same network as the computer sharing the media.
Any good apps/methods to access my shared media on my local WiFi network?

i use a app called ES File Explorer you can download it from the market.
Its dead easy to setup. it will scan for computers on your network and then show you all the shared files.
Ahhh, knew the solution was under my nose lol. I Love that app. Thanks for the advice

glad it works for you
ES file explorer is good, but I also use Remote Media Center. It's great if you use Windows Media Center but it requires a server program on the host computer called Remote Potato. I like it cause it transcodes high-def video into a lower bitrate so you can watch it on your phone or stream to anywhere if you're out of the house.
Wouldn't this be DLNA?
es file explorer has worked perfectly for me. I have a samba file server I access with it
Hello,
I want to download the Recacon camera remote software for my Sony camera QX10 in the google market. But it is not possible to do this from Germany, only from US and Japan.
Does anyone knows, where I can download the software as an *.apk-File?
I donĀ“t find anything about this in google
Thanks
Berthold
You can download it from http://market.1mobile.com/ but strangely you can buy the license througth Google play when installed on phone.
Seems a little bettre than the Sony software.
As the Sony can connect through NFC, this app can't, you should first have a direct wifi connection with the QX 10.
There's also a desktop version who work from Windows OS and MAC.
A simpla app in Windows, but you cant shoot from your computer with the QX10 somewhere in the house.
Do I need to install the drivers for the nexus player to sideload apps from my PC ?
If so, where are the drivers located ?
I have downloaded the latest SDK toolkit
Thanks

When I installed it the drivers were included. Don't forget you have to enable developer mode and then enable usb debugging to enable the ADB interface. That will show up as a different device in device manager (assuming you're on windows)

Is there a tutorial anywhere that shows exactly how to install the drivers and sideload apps for the Nexus player?
From the USB Driver thread:

I got it up and running by:
Selecting update driver
Browse my computer for driver software
Selecting let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Selecting show all devices
Clicking have disk
Finally selecting \android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver\android_winusb.inf as the driver
Hope this helps anyone else who comes across this issue.

And once you've got the drivers, I think you can use the Sideload Wonder Machine to sideload things, if you don't like using the command line.
I was sideloading everything with the OTG usb cable but then I installed ES File Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en and I've been using the Remote FTP server feature on there to just send stuff over without having to connect it to a computer. I think you can use the play store website to do a remote install over to the Nexus Player with ES File Explorer and then just get the APK for whatever you're trying to load and FTP it over. You can then use ES File Explorer to find that file you just sent over and install it. You will need the 'install from unknown sources' feature on still in the dev options but it does make it easier.
So how, exactly, would one side-load the Amazon Instant Video app? I would be happy to lose our aging Google TV but the Nexus Player doesn't support Amazon... does anyone here have a link to the Amazon apk? Thanks!
As far as I know Amazon Prime streaming won't work until Amazon gives their blessing and releases and app for the Android TV platform. There is an app for for phones and tablets available through the regular Amazon store app but there are some hoops you have to go through to get it working which includes sideloading their 'player' app or whatever, it's not a good solution at all and I doubt it'd be easy to use on the Nexus Player even if it launched.
With Amazon releasing their own set top boxes and HDMI sticks I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a Prime streaming app on android for a long while, if ever. Our best chance at getting it on the Nexus Player would be if someone figures out a way to pull the native Fire TV app off that device and getting it working on stock android and some how keep Amazon from blocking it as they are actively shutting down apps that can stream Prime: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...d-removed-from-the-play-store-after-36-hours/
This sucks as I'd love to see all that content since I pay for Prime, I doubt I'll be renewing that next year though for this reason.
I sideloaded the instant video and amazon apps from my phone and both installed. I had issues when I attempted to watch a prime video however. Otherwise both apps worked fine.

I think you might be out of date a little. The Amazon store app now allows you to stream Prime video on most Android devices. No additional hacks or sideloading required.
side load apps that work
\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver
side loaded apps tested so far
with keyboard and mouse only
maxgo
hbogo
showtime anytime
vudu sd only
Easy way to sideload is goto the playstore in the browser of your pc. Install esfile explorer to the nexus player. The app will not show up on the main page but will be in the setiings/apps. Make sure you have selected unknown sources enabled on the nexus player. Share a folder on your home network from your pc. Place the apk you want to install in that folder. Open esfile manager and goto the lan tab. You shoukd see your folder you shared on your pc. Apk installs no problem. My question is how do you get the installed apps to show up on your nexus player home screen?
