Hdmi out - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have a samsung infuse 4 g and I just purchased a hdmi mhl cable for it. I have it hooked up to the wall ok with as well 4 power. I am trying to get an output 2 an lg tv. I have tried to hdmi ports on the tv. I have tried un rooting the phone. I have turned off the tv and the phone on and off to try to restart things. I have looked up this problem in other forums and some people have successfully ok put their infuse phones to their tvs so I know its possible. I talked to samsung support and they said it isn't. any help is appreciated

You haven't said if you're on a custom rom or stock. But from the looks of your signature, you have the Roger's version of the Infuse. Their stock rom does not have HDMI output.

He did say kinda.

Try flashing a stock AT&T rom. It should give you the hdmi functionality.

What ics rom? Lol we don't have ics, just imitates. Our custom roms use custom kernels from the Rogers infuse, so no hdmi. Some of the roms are using the AT&T infused kernel so hdmi will work with them. I forget which one those are. But read in the development section. Or just flash the stock leaked roms LB3 being the latest.

Titanium backup is probably the best in backing up and restoring apps and it's data. A must have app. Just don't restore system apps.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997

can you tell me what the processes for restoring the apps and settings with titanium once I have a new rom. I tried to restore things with rom toolbox ones I had a miui rom but is just reset things back to the way they were to start with with the old rom and everything
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R using XDA

Also i noticed when i had the miui rom installed that my data wasnt working. Any ideas?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R using XDA

You would open up titanium backup. Press on your menu button then press on batch. After that's opened up, press on run for the option that says "backup all user data" and let it finish. Once that's done, you can go ahead and flash the rom you want. When it's done, go to market and download titanium backup. Open it up, hit menu, and then batch. Scroll until you see the option "Restore missing apps with data" and click run. Let it finish and you're done. You're apps are there with its data.
You would just need to set up your phone the way you like it.
As for the data on miui, you may need to change your apn settings to whatever it is for Rogers.

So, wait, you're trying to flash i9000 themes and ROMs to your sch-i500 USCC Mesmerize? If this is the case, you are lucky that you didn't jack your phone up. I thought you were trying to flash the Galassia partial port FOR the Mesmerize.
Just to be clear, but not trying to be mean, DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE THAT ISN'T FOR YOUR PHONE!
Oh LOL man now that is dumb lol I guess I was just to busying looking how cool I looked lol

Also, when you reflash to stock it will remove the clockworkmod recovery, you'll have to redo the process of installing CWM.
Well I wanted the gala rom but like I said the way I did it was everything that said I'm the walk through and it just gave mu phone a black screen I don't know what I am doing wrong there (yea I reinstalled cwm to)

ok got it all working now flashed my phone with the Super clean rom and then put the GaLaSSiA theme on here and everything is going well =) (didnt know those were for the I9000 i was thinking all galaxy phones were the same besides looks and a flash on your cam) so i am still learning lol

Gingerbread

It's amazing we were supposed to so called have our gingerbread like 2 months ago, has anyone heard anything? Because I am trying hard not to have to root my Infuse, and I don't really have a way to root it either but it is so aggravating being on 2.2 still especially with such a great device.

It's very simple.

+1 All you need to root is a comp, usb cable and your phone, rooting is quite literally one click (superoneclick)...unless you use HDMI religiously, the roms here are awesome gingerbread goodness even if unofficial.

dude, get the drivers from the samsung site, get heimdall 1.1, get visual c++ redistrobutable package and get the comunity kernel.
extract the kernel .zip and find the zimage
install the drivers
open heimdall
put the zimage in the kernel slot
put the phone in download mode and connect to usb
hit the flash button in heimdall
pretty easy

To make things easier on yourself, you should really find a comp, google "Superoneclick Infuse" and it should pop up step by step install instructions. (download link included)
Still, with the root/flash options, I too would like the official release from AT&T...the wait is getting too long.
Question -I assume I'll need to reload apps if I flash a ROM, correct?
I'll just leave this here...

<Q> cwm a different way?

Ok guys as i'm trying to fix my USB problem I am curious as to if there is any other way to give my phone cwm.
I'm currently running ravers 2.3.6 kj6 official GB ROM with root. I understand I would have to Odin a different kernel but I can't cause of the USB issue. When I had the vibrant I remember using rom manager and going to factory recovery and doing update.zip. I am aware of rom manager not working with this phone but could I do something similar? Or since I have root could I go into a specific folder and change kernels?
My best guess is no since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere I just thought I'd ask. You never know right?

Get sgs kernel flasher from market and extract the zimage from the kernel zip. Once that is done use sgs kernel flasher to flash the zimage and you will have clockwork mod with voodoo.

Mmm, many questions...
Do you try full wipe/factory reset before installing new room?
Are you using a kustom kernel? If yes, try to reflash it. Customs kernels also includes CWM Recovery.
Sorry for my english!
Luck!
I did a full reset wipe and no I just installed the rom. Which at the moment I'm forgetting what its called

Well. This is the first custom room you installed? If not, probably is a room bug, or the compatibility with your phone is not 100% funtionally.
If yes, perhaps the root is not correct. Why you dont try to re-root your phone?
Or try with another room and tested.
If still not working, dont worry, we will solve it!
Try BH's back to stock one click.
I'm curious what ROM you are using? Go to settings - about phone and it will tell you the name.
It was the ICBINB rom I believe.

As Jigglynuts mentioned previously, go grab bhundven's one-click from the development section. The 3rd one listed in that post is KJ6 (GB), has CWM & it's rooted. All you need to run it is to have Java installed on your machine.

i got this phone yesterday and i'm not new to android or custom roms. but i derped pretty hard and stopped at step 7b of this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
and it would mount the sd card, but i noticed i didn't finish so i did the other steps and i've been able to flash roms, this program can also return you to stock i believe (some one else should confirm, or you can read about it in the wiki)
so if nothing else works you should try it.

Rooting Samsung Sgh-I896 on Rogers in canada

Hey everyone
I have been tiring to look up how to root my Samsung SGH-I896 that is on Rogers in Canada but have haven't been able to find and think that matches my phone info. I will list my firmware and other info if some can point me in the right way that would be nice.
Model = SGH-I896
Frimware = 2.3.3
Kernel version = 2..35.7-i896uxkh2-cl296008
Build number = GINGERBREAD.UXKH2
Thanks
I have the same phone and believe me it's not as easy as it is for the us users. Rogers actually takes code off the phone so that it's harder to root or unlock. I had to factory reset and use an at&t software instead of Rogers. After that everything was easy. Use one click root or anything like it

I dont recall having any issues with rooting my phone back in the day. I recall being able to use superoneclick to get the job done on stock gingerbread.
Although if you are planning on installing a rom on your phone then root isnt required. Just flash CWM and then flash a rom. The roms come with root already installed on it.
I have tried super oneclick and it hang up at step 7 but maybe iam doing something wrong. I will try again later tonight. Thanks alot guys

PS I highly recommend cm10, i never imagined my i896 could run this fast.

I have the rogers version, I've unlocked it to use Koodo as a provider and have also installed CM10 (runs beautifully!). They are the same phone, ours just does not say at&t at the top of it (Samsung instead). I never bothered with rooting, which was a waste of time anyhow... move on from Gingerbread and you wont look back, I swear!

I used Superoneclick with both Froyo and Gingerbread stock Rogers versions and it rooted just fine. Just need to follow the instructions.
I think for Froyo you had to do some really stupid stuff, like plug it in and take it back out 2-3 times but other than that it always worked great.
Worked so well I even made a donation to the developer.
If it hangs on you, I would suggest reading the thread to see if somebody developed a method that works. My Froyo image wouldn't root so I read the Rogers captivate thread and somebody posted telling me how to unplug and plug it back in, worked well.
I think I might have screwed up... I installed the unzipped ROM onto my external SD rather than the zipped one... what do I do now???
Can you get into recovery?
