Yesterday I had perfect data connection. No issues. Then I accidentally toggled off my data and toggled it back on after it turned it back on I was no longer able to connect to anything data related i.e. it said no connection available.
So I go into phone settings and run ping test and this comes up.
Ping IpAddr: Fail: IP addr not reachable
Ping Hostname(www.google.com):Fail: Host Unreachable
HTTP Client test: Fail:IOException

I'm using Zeus Build 6 if that helps any. I haven't downloaded any new aps/tweaks/mods or anything. Fresh slate, newly flashed. Did a Odin Stock before flashing as well.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? AT&T costumer service was of no help what so ever.
let me know
Peace out with the grease out,

UPDATE: Without realizing it there was actually also another "side affect" of whatever happened to my phone. I am now no longer able to send texts or call people. I can receive text messages and I can receive calls. And again also no data. I really am exhausting my resources here searching multiple forums, searching att.com I called costumer service thrice fold and everytime they were no help to me. This is a real issue especially just about an hour ago when I truly needed to make a call that was important.
Side Note: I tried flashing different ROMs I tried Odin restock, Neither have changed my issue in any way.
A curious issue indeed.
A question ...
When you unbricked did you do factory reset and cache wipe when the the phone rebooted to recovery menu?

Before each and every ROM flash I always Reset/Clear cache and dalvik cache, so yes. Also formatted both my SD cards just for extra measure.
If you haven't done so,
I would try to flash back to stock with a repartition.
Take out your microSD and any photos or data you don't want to lose.
In the phone,
/settings/privacy/reset.
Some people use gtg's ultimate unbrick - this brings you back to froyo.
I prefer heimdall 1click.
Use the uclb3. Flash it twice if you haven't had the bootloaders.
Run stock UCLB3 to see if it works.
Assuming that you're in the USA - Bakersfield, CA

Thanks for the Info

Do you still have imei in about phone? Mine disappeared when something similar happened to me a couple weeks ago. This is going to sound really dumb but after trying multiple things and 5 reboots I just turned it completely off. When I turned it back on it worked again.

Picked up my phone at radio shack and after 3 hrs it hadn't become active on the Sprint network yet. Whenever I tried to place a call it would tell me this phone was not authorized.
Called Sprint and they gave me directions to manually activate it on the network, figured I would share with anybody who has the same problem.
Need to double check they have the correct ESN in their system. It can be read off the box or off the back of the phone under the battery.
Next, they'll give you your MSL (six digit number) to enter, ##XXXXXX# .
Choose edit from the menu and then enter your mobile phone number into the mobile directory number and MSID fields. Hit Menu->Commit.
It will reboot the phone and when it comes up, starts hands free activation. Go ahead and hit cancel, since we manually set it up. Skip the updates and it should be activate on the network now!

So, it is safe to turn on the phone? It won't automatically install the OTA update?

no, i twont auto install anything. it prompts you for each update and you can choose yes or no. in fact, mine actually skipped checking for software updates and only checked for PRL update and firmware update. it updated the PRL but no firmware update.

When you mention "Menu", I'm assuming you mean the EPST menu? ##3282#? I can access and edit all that information using that programming code.

wow, old thread to be bumped. i almost didnt believe it was really mine when i saw my name on it.
the directions I was given over the phone from sprint were, just as stated in the OP, to use the ##MSL# menu, not the ##DATA# (##3283#) menu to provision the phone programming it for use on the Sprint network.
I did this several times and believe it updated my PRI from 1.34 to 1.40. Is this possible? I have been seeing over the forum that a ##768# Factory Reset will cause it to Hands-Free Activation and trying several times can get you back up to 1.40PRI however doing a ##3282#, Edit Mode, Data Profile Restore gets you to the same point and I am pretty sure this is what caused me to get back to the 1.40pri and avoid a Factory Reset. Is this at all possible Joey?

well if it really worked for you, i'm guessing it is. doesn't surprise me, i dont see why a data wipe would be necessary to update the PRI. So far Factory Reset has failed me twice, both on Fresh 3.1.0.1 and Stock Froyo (rooted). I'm now trying your Profile Restore trick.. i'll report back soon.
edit: didn't work, but i'm guessing it would work for those that the factory reset worked for. i'm going to keep trying, as some people have said it took 10 times!
Going to continue the old thread bump by saying there were issues with CDMA provisioning today. Might want to try again this weekend.

It took me SEVERAL tries I just kept doing it because it seemed doing it with the Factory Reset was the same way, just keep doing it and hope that eventually you end up with 1.40. This just avoided the factory resets for me
EDIT: can a mod please delete this question - realized i posted in the wrong forum 2 seconds after i hit submit - sorry
Hi all,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922978
I was following the directions in that thread and seem to have mucked something up. I went into ##3282#, edit, advanced. And per the instructions in that thread i was changing the HTTP PD Proxy Port and HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0 and 0.0.0.0
Only when i was changing the address, i think i accidentally inserted a return in there, so that the address really was:
0.0.0
0.0.0.0
Now when i try to go back in there, it either hangs at reading 76% of the settings, or it just crashes before it gets that far.
I changed the port and was in the process of changing the address when the app crashed when i clicked ok.
Is there any other way for me to reset/correct that info, other then doing a factory reset?
thanks
Have you tried the 3282 and then menu>restore?
3282- DATA,
data restore, do it here at the store quite a bit if having an issue with a phone not connecting to the network/ won't commit modifications. If you can't get it to do it you can also try calling technical support and having them do it from their end, at least that works on sprint.

I dont get anything after i go in (via edit) when i press menu. I guess maybe that was removed with the ROM i'm using? (EViO)
I have a new Tmobile Samsung Galaxy s 4g. When GB came out I updated through Kies air. I rooted it with superoneclick.
I got annoyed with the short text problem, and using Odin put KJ1 modem on. That fixed the texts, but GPS stopped working. So I put KJ6 modem back, and GPS still didn't work. I then used Odin to flash the stock official 2.3.6 ROM and GPS still didn't work.
So I used Odin and put a new root Kernel Voodoo KJ1 on, then used CWM to put Valhalla by whitehawkx on it (Valhalla Final [KJ6 Based][Happy Holidays][12.12.2011]). I followed his instructions to the letter including the factor resets and waiting periods.
So it's running fine with Valhalla, except I still have no GPS! Maps and other location services always say location is unavailable. I downloaded GPS Aids and it can't load the XTRA file, and it shows communications with no GPS satellites.
It all went wrong when I first put that older modem on. Like I said I've since put the KJ6 modem back in and done all sorts of contortions with the ROMs and GPS has never come back since that first time.
Here's my about:
Model: SGH-T959V
Firmware: 2.3.6
Baseband: T959VUKJ6
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-T959VUVKJ6-CL694130

Build Number: GINGERBREAD.VUVKJ6
Mod version: Valhalla-FINAL
Please, what can I do to get my GPS back?? I don't even care if it's running stock, I'd rather have stock Tmobile 2.3.6 with GPS working than anything modded or even root. I need GPS!!
Is my only option to flash stock GB 2.3.6 back on and take it back to Tmobile for Warranty? It's only a few weeks old. Or is there something I can do to get GPS working again?
Edit: Just for the heck of it, I again flashed the KJ6 modem on using Odin (yes, I clicked Phone) it zipped modem.bin on, I rebooted- and no GPS. Please, someone help me reset the GPS!
GPS Aids has a "hard reset" feature. I'd suggest doing a full backup then using that option. No guarantee but it may help.
Is that only in the paid version? I don't see it.

Under "Select a Device" choose Other
Click Start Setup
Click "Allow" if prompted by Superuser
Click Finish
Click "Codes.....tools"
Scroll down (no scroll bar, so it's not obvious) and it's just above Factory Data Reset
Thanks, I just tried it. Figure can't break it anymore than it already is. I'm already back on stock 2.3.6 rooted just to remove extra variables. Rebooting now....Wow it cleaned out ALL the modem settings, had to re-register on Tmobile.
OMG THAT DID IT!
I could kiss you. I'm gonna go donate to the maker of GPS Aids right now. Damn I wish I'd done that before I wiped CWM/Valhalla. Oh well

Awesome man, glad you got it working. I'm sure the guy that programmed GPS Aids will be more than happy to know his product helped someone.
Take it easy
wierd. It worked once. So I went and paid for the app. Ran the GPS Doctor thing, told it to Fix Everything, and now GPS doesn't work again.
*sigh*
Doing hard reset again, then not gonna touch GPS Aid if it works.
Each time I do the hard reset, I see something like "Appling CSC" then an error about can't find /system/csc or something similar. I wonder if that's related.

I think I saw the same message on mine when I did the hard reset. I had my phone really b0rked at that point, too.
Broken again. I guess there's something in my Titanium Backup which hoses GPS. I've been restoring after the hard reset and I think the GPS breaks after that. Or I'll just start all over again setting things up. I need my contacts and calendar, supposedly they are sync'd to Google, how do I just sign into that after the hard reset?
ok time to do the hard reset and I'll try to take a picture of the csc error. Wierd that typo "appling" instead of "applying". And I wonder what that csc thing is it can't find...
Solved. Something in my Titanium Backup for sure. I'm just putting apps back one at a time. As far as sync, once I enter my credentials for the app store it automatically started to sync everything else. Did have to re-connect to Tmobile in the APN settings.
Replying to myself here..not so much solved I guess. I updated some of the builtin apps from the market, I restored a bunch of normal apps using titanium backup, checking GPS each time. I didn't use Titanium Backup to restore any system level stuff, just apps and data. Then I studied for a while, came back, and no GPS again. Somewhere I'm debloating something critical for system function inadvertently, or moving something to the SD card that should remain on internal storage. I can't figure out what! Time to hard reset and start over for the fourth time. I wish there were a less time-consuming way to troubleshoot this.
How long have you let it alone after a hard reset before you start restoring anything? I ask because it's possible that it's dying on it's own after a period of time. Maybe hard reset it, leave it for an hour or so, then check the GPS and see if it's functioning. That way you only waste an hour and you're not going through the tedious task of 1x1 restores.
First the details:

The problem is that none of the MMS messages will go through if containing a photo that was taken with the flashed ROM. However, if I try to send a photo that was taken prior to OrDroid ROM, it goes through without a problem.
Doesn't matter if I send it directly out of the message app or going first to Gallery and share it. After about a minute I get the error in the notifications saying "Unable to send message after multiple attempts" and "Generic network failure" or "Service denied" written below.
The MMS settings and Mobile Data are all fine, considering it works with old images. Plus I can't notice any difference in the images' details between the new ones and the ones taken prior to flashing OrDroid.
One more thing, I also cannot receive MMS messages. I get a message with a download button and nothing happens if I click it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I'm not looking for a ROM changing solution.
Edit: Ok, after about 30 new attempts of sending out photos, I see the problem isn't with newly taken images, but it's completely random. Now, about 1 in 10 attempts goes through. By the way, the signal bar is full. I really don't get it...
No one has any ideas? That's rather sad.
Hi I'm running Ordroid 8.6.5 and I'm able to take pictures and send them immediately, new pictures. I just tested it. It works perfectly for me. Perhaps do a full wipe and re flash the newest rom. I can say it's NOT ordroid because its working perfectly for me.maybe the download got corrupted somehow. I would definitely do a full wipe, download a NEW download to the computer then place NEW download to root of SD card and flash. Don't use old download as it is likely corrupted in some way. See if this solves the issue. Please do full wipe before flashing NEW download. This should do the trick. I'm hopeful this will fix the issue. Let me know. Because we know its NOT a issue with ORDROID, so give that a try . Good luck! Hope this helps out!
Also check and make sure settings are correct, if so do the new download of ordroid, see if it fixes the issue.

Thanks for replying, realsis.
I did a full wipe again and reflashed. I didn't bother downloading the file again, because the md5 matches and the file's fine. The MMS still doesn't work though.
So sorry, I can't think of another possible fix. Perhaps someone else has one ? Very strange because I'm using the same rom as you are and I can use mine without issues. I really hope you find a fix soon. Take care.

Thanks realsis.
Anyway, apparently ROM really isn't the issue. I've just flashed InsertCoin Evolution v1.91 and the MMS still won't go through.
I truly am baffled.
Check the apn settingd for your carrier...sometimes they get goofy ...ive had this happen before and I had the wrong settings..even though I never touched them...i googled for the settings and fixed it instantly
I've also tried that. Manually typed in proxy and port, and sadly it did not do the trick. Almost none of the MMS will go through.
I would call your carrier and see if it's goofed at their end, maybe they can help.one time I had to call for something and even though I'm using custom rom (they don't know this) they were able to fix my issue. Cannot hurt to try?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I called them just now, and we went over the APN settings again, and she told me to change the authentication type to PAP (was 'none' before). Of course that didn't do the trick, and we parted without resolving the issue. She told me it should work and that was basically it.
It's getting really annoying because I know it really SHOULD work! Poop.
I've been having same problem. I'm using sensation running energy ics ROM. The work around i use is i have to use quickpics (app) and crop the image before sending... Almost as if Android isn't resizing the image correctly when "converting" to mms. This almost always works.
Thanks billybag, but that didn't do the trick.
The thing is, the problem is the same with the incoming MMS. It says download and after I click it, it says downloading for a minute or two and just pops back to download.
I tried really cropping the image with Quickpic (to about a pixle or two ) and it still didn't send it.
So one day, my Nexus S randomly decided not to have a data connection with my carrier (Wind Mobile) anymore.
Wifi works, mobile data does not.
Steps I did to try and fix this:
1) make sure APN address is correct, which it is.
2) turn airplane mode on and off
3) toggle carrier connection on and off
4) factory wipe phone and reinstall ROM (slimkat)
5) factory wipe phone and install a different ROM (AOSP)
6) flash new radio (KB3 and KB1)
Other things I tried:
1) tried my SIM card with another phone (Blackberry Curve), data connection seems to work fine on that phone.
2) Called Wind Mobile and asked them to reset their towers to my phone... all they did was remove the Blackberry security thingy
that I had with them when I was still using a Blackberry. Rebooted my Nexus S, tried again... still no data.
So... I'm at my wit's end, and I have no clue how to fix this. Any ideas? I've found a couple similar threads for this problem... non of which had a solution to mine.
I remembered I made a backup nandroid a little while ago... and I restored it.
Voila, everything works again. But as soon as I tried reflashing to my preferred ROM (Slimkat), the problems started up again.
I also forgot to add that before I started encountering problems, my phone froze and I had reset by doing a battery pull because it wouldn't respond to any key presses. I'm guessing it corrupted something, though I'm not sure what. I've diagnosed that this is not a hardware issue, and that it's purely software... I'm not sure why the problem comes back when I reflash to another ROM. I'll keep you guys posted.
One other thing worth noting is that when I have Slimkat installed, it doesn't seem to read off my SIM card properly.
The APN doesn't get named "Wind DATA" like it usually does when I install a different ROM on there; it just gets named "Internet".
