Any "Android to Android" file transfer progs ?

With Tablets becoming more popular but connectivity seemingly coming in second thought. Was wondering if there are any wireless file transfer progs that would be able to send files back and forth between phone and tablet ?
Bump requires there network I believe. Dropbox as well requires "cloud" uploading. And ES File explorer and others require files to be shared on a network from a PC/Mac.
Any Android to Android solutions ?
Check bluetooth file transfer program in market. Works for me...

[Q] Renaming Files and Folders

Hi all,
Loving my Optimus 3D but can't seem to work out how to rename files and folders. I know once you have taken a photo it gives you the option to Rename, but I was wondering how I could go back and rename photos and video files, and folders from before (without connecting to my computer). Anyone know?
Also can you create folders within the phone for content? And can you organize content in the Applications section, e.g. sorting Downloads in order or placing them in different categories.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

To rename files and folders and create folders on your phone you'd have to have an explorer app that allows you to browse your filesystem. I'm not aware of any browser apps that don't require root (ie. Astro or Root Explorer) but then again, I've never had the need for one and always had my phones rooted.
You might wanna be carefull when renaming folders and files though.
I don't think the standard launcher allows changing the contents of the applications drawer.
Thanks for the response, appreciate it. At the risk of sounding like a total noob, what do you mean when you say having your phone rooted? I'm total new to smart phones and always just had an old simple mobile.
Also, is the Optimus 3D like the iPhone in that you need to hack it to install apps downloaded from your PC for free or can you install any apps via PC
get "estrongs file explorer". it's free and does many many many more amazing things than just letting you rename files without root requirement.

Rooting a phone basically gets you super access, kind of like having an administrator account on Windows. It comes in handy for example when you want to use custom roms, get complete file access, use screenshot tools etc.
And an Android phone is in no way an iPhone when it comes to installing apps. There's an option that when turned on allows the installation of apps you didn't get from the Market (it's in the Application section of your options menu). Presuming you only use free programs you downloaded you can just put the .apk file on your internal or external sd card and install it, either by using a file browser (such as the mentioned Estrong) to find the apk or using a separate app installer which you can download from the Market.
Awesome, thanks for the reply really appreciate it, and I actually understand it now.
So if I downloaded and installed an app or game from the internet for free, that usually had to be bought on the Android market or from Gameloft for example, could you get in trouble or banned/blocked in any way?
Sorry if this is a noob/inappropriate question
Cheers
no. google actiually lets you do what you want with your device.
Awesome, good to know. I'm really wanting the Gangstar games from gameloft but they aren't available to purchase via Gameloft yet. I can download the pirated versions and install them, but would Gameloft cause any problems when I did so or would I always have to play in airplane mode?
Most pirated software works just like the original version, just check if there's any installation instructions. The biggest disadvantage in my opinion is not being able to update pirated software through the Market.
You can use Polaris Office included in the phone as file explorer for all the naming, copying etc.. The name is a bit misleading
Nice, I didn't know that Polaris was a glorified file browser. Works great for viewing, editing and removing files and folders.
So, to the topicstarter, this is all you need to do the things you want. You can edit your filesystem and browse to your downloaded apps to install them (for example create a map called DownloadedApps, connect your phone to your pc, copy any downloaded apps to the map you created, disconnect, use Polaris to browse to the DownloadedApps map and click on any app you want to install).
If you want to rename a file or folder just long press on it and you'll be presented with all the options you need.
Yeah, I just had a play around with it, looks and works really good. Thanks for all the help folks much appreciated.
PS - If anyone could provide instructions and a link on how to install the Gangstar games (hereby showing me how to install ripped games at the same time) I would very much appreciate it. Been having no luck getting it to work

apps to use gingerbread and honeycomb together?

I have an hd2 using an miui rom. I was woundering what apps would create synergy between these devices. i am using 2 right now. Does anybody else know of apps to fit this catagory, or better yet a list to fit this catagory.
bluetooth file transfer -- file manager that works for multiple android devices
textab -- text on a tablet through your phoe.
your question was a bit confusing, but i think i understand what you're asking for:
"can anyone recommend any apps that works on both honeycomb and gingerbead with these functionalities:
bluetooth file transfer
send text messages from the phone, via the table"
is that right?
dunno about the second, but for the first question: ES File Explorer is generally a good all around File Browser. just long click on any file, share, and pick bluetooth. you'll be able to pick any phone that is paired with yourd device, and you can send those files via bluetooth. works on both HC and GB

i found 2 already and gave examples. i want to find apps that connect my phone and tablet in varis ways. another example would be dropbox

Best App to Move Photos from PC to Infinity?

I have both the ASUS Extension Kits - one for USB and the other as an SD Card Reader.
I've tried moving photos from my PC with both kits and the File Manager App with no success. The File Manager somehow corrupts JPG files when using the SD Card Reader and it does not recognize my USB stick.
I can move the photos one or two at a time as an email attachment, but I have several hundred that I'd like to put on the Infinity.
Suggestions? TIA!

A little looking, and I answered my own question. Photo Transfer App works very well wirelessly. I used it on my iPad, and it works well here, too.
Also, there is the wireless option via FTP. I use an old app called SwiFTP. It's no longer developed, but Im sure you can find the apk somewhere. It gives full access to your device and it's FREE! There are other apps like it on the Market as well. I use it whenever I don't feel like grabbing my USB cable.

I'd recommend File Expert. It works through HTTP, so on any computer on the same wifi network with a web browser can get into it provided the user has the correct password. The web page UI for managing files is pretty nice, if a little buggy. Only flaw is that its UI is slow (at least on my Atrix) and not tablet optimized.

Photo Transfer App is also http and works A-OK with no bugs. It will transfer photos or videos in either direction at very good speed. Photos can be batched up to 100 photos, abd videos are done singly. There are both Android and iOS Apps so I can take photos/videos off of my iPad and move them to my TF700.
Even though probably adding a 'solution' to a problem no longer in existence might I add that Total Commander supports both internal and external memory (with root access), (S)FTP, WEBDAV, LAN shares and more, and is still in active development? Also, you would not be limited to transfer of grahical files. (I haven't used specific photo transfer apps yet, so I do not know if they'd provide (a) definite advantage(s). If you think I'm missing out on something, please chime in and release me from my blissful ignorance. )
I've used MyPhoneExplorer for all file transfers. Works over my WIFI network although it will also work over cable.

File sharing between android devices

Hi
Yesterday I have come across a beautiful app called SperBeam which is used for file sharing between android apps.
I am able to transfer 1GB data(videos and photos) from my samsung galaxy s3 to asus transformer infinity tablet in 6 minutes. Thats awsome.
This software uses wifi if it is available, or else wifidirect technology.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
no results on google play for "sperbeam"
sounds interesting though...
edit: its "superbeam"
Thank you
Great find. Thanks for the share.

Why not simply use your PC's file manager via MTP?
What do you mean by that? Use the usb cable?
I still feel all these P2P file sharing apps are clunky and not consumer-friendly. That said, I'm going to fix that...I'm building an app called Drop, and it is a simple, fast, and secure way to share files with people/devices in proximity over WiFi Direct. It is going into a limited Private Beta soon, so if you're up for the challenge, (and running Jelly Bean) then sign up at www.get-drop.com. Seats are limited, and we have a rolling enrollment, so check it out.

Thanks Whatisreal. I just signed up. There are tons of file sharing apps in the app store, but they all look like they were made by engineers who know how the inner plumbing of your phone works, and they expect you to know too. I'm a casual user, and I'm looking for something that works for "everyone", not just the propeller heads! Kind of like Apple's approach (putting flame suit on..)
Sorry for bumping this old thread. But I am using esfile explorer to transfer files between pc and my phone/tablet using wifi. They are connected to the same wifi. But though I am able to transfer between tablet and pc or phone and pc. I am unable to do the same between phone and tablet. Of course I can install this superbeam for the same but I just wanted to know if it is possible by using esfile explorer. Also can I transfer files using wifi direct(ie without using the common wifi modem) using esfile explorer?

I use wifi file transfer - ttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antosdr.wififiletransfer&hl=en
ES File Explorer uses this as a plugin so I can select multiple files or folders then take the option in ES to "share" and then share via wifi file transfer, you just need to have the app installed on both devices and make sure the receiving device has wifi file trasnfer running and recady to receive
The other option I use for files that arent huge is dropbox and gogole drive - again ES File Explorer can plug into those for easy upload and download
Actually ES File Explorer has the ability in itself to create a wifi file sharing hotspot. I just couldn't find it before. Now after some tries I finally got it to work. It doesnt require an external wifi(modem). ES file itself creates a wifi server (similar to bluetooth) to which other devices can connect and share files.
I've found an app called shoutr, that's available in the Google Play Store and at shoutr.net, that lets you share between devices without even having to have internet or WiFi access, pretty convenient!
