I've gone through every guide I could find for rooting my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus.
I followed the guide in the official XDA thread, and I even followed this excellent guide posted by ShinTenKen here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841107&page=2 - But cannot get proper root access.
My GT currently has Clockwork Mod recover, ver. 6.0.0.8. This is the only version that will actually see my internal SD storage to run the zip files I've placed there.
I have the GT7+ root.zip file on my SD root, and I can access it through CWM, and everything appears to go well, but upon reboot, I fire up RootChecker and it says that I do not have root access.
I also tried to run Tegrak overclock and it also confirms that there is no root access.
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks for the reply.
I have followed this guide.
Using the temp CWM, I am unable to browse the SD to launch root.zip.
If I use the current version of CWM that I have permanently on my tab (6.0.8.0) I can follow this guide, access root.zip on my SD and run it, but I still do not get root access. I don't even get errors. Everything looks good, but a check of my root status comes back negative.
Kinda crazy.

With stock ICS 4.0.4, load CWM.zip from recovery. This is the temporary, touch screen enabled CWM. meaning, you can drag the options up and down and tap to select.
select the root.zip to flash, then also flash the p62_cwmr_20111214.zip file.
that's the old 5.0.xx version of CWM. Flash the latest one later, after you have ensure proper root.
BTW, most cwm version point the "internal sd" as your sd card.
good luck.

Thanks for the awesome reply.
I'll give this a try shortly.
I've been through these steps before, and for some reason the touch-based CWM was unable to see the root file structure (only sees a "\clockworkmod" directory)
Would this still work if I placed the root.zip on the micro sd expansion card?

I'm rooted! Here's how:
- I followed your steps using the files you linked above.
- I ran into the same issue of not being able to see the zip files that I placed on the root of my SD card.
- Reconnected my SD storage to my PC and created a directory on the root, then placed root.zip, CWM.zip and the CWMR zip in that directory.
- Upon booting my tab into CWM again, I was able to see the new directory I created, and navigate to the root.zip to run it.
- After running root.zip, I rebooted and ran the Root Checker app (from the Play Store) and it verified that I have root access.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond on such a relatively old topic! If I could "Thank" you 100x I would.

Hi ichiyamato,
I am having a weird issue.
I was removing some system apps, included was an app called AppsInSD or something.
After that I am unable to transfer apps to SD saying 'couldn't move app'.
Moving apps back to internal is fine but moving them back to SD is not working anymore.
I'm not sure if removing that AppsInSD system app has affected this.
could you help me extract that apk I mentioned
and post it here. Thanks!
Update: just bricked my device can't help messing around stuff. I'll just wait for the official rom updates to come.
or updates on cwm, and other stuff.

Hi All, new to forums. No one else seems to have had this problem, or am I trying to open it wrong? I try to d-click the batch file runme.bat to get root access but it won't open as the message says it's not supported on LG-Optimus L7II dual running Android 4.1.2. It opens in Win 7 so it proves that the file is OK. Hope I get some info on this, thanks.
Hello,
.bat files are Windows/DOS batch scripts that does not (generally) work on Android.
Most likely you have to run that .bat file on the Windows computer with your phone connected.

Root with Restore is very old method and is Patched on almost all new devices..
Here are some new methods ..
Cydia Impactor
http://www.cydiaimpactor.com/
This tool roots almost any Android device..
After rooting download either Superuser.apk or SuperSU.apk
I have tested this Exploit on almost 10 devices, And it rooted them all.. :good:

Thanks heaps Cyrus_pc, Had to use Cydia Impactor a few times to reroot, worked perfectly. It gained root but Root Checker from Jacksoft labs
said no root. So did search on xda forums (can't Remember thread to thank them) and used terminal to type SU and check root(thanks). Also, used Root Checker by joeykrim and that does work.
If I can indulge a bit about other problems with my phone model LG Optimus L7 II Duo P716, this may help others. I first wanted root access to use Titanium Backup and Rom Manager before using LG update to see what was new and roll back if needed. Bad move, Rom Manager wouldn't backup or boot to recovery mode just kept Factory resetting and loosing settings(what a pain).
Fix this from xda thread from Blackzair with (CWM Recovery on LG P&15 L7 II Dual) boothack+recovery.rar to load Gscript.apk. Got into recovery even though as he said screen is upside down.Tried to load a CM 10 but it didn't take, will have to check boot image version.
Thanks again to everyone

Hey guys. I recently rooted my dad's old Droid 2 and installed CM9 on it. I decided now to try rooting my phone so I can use the microSD card slot as extra RAM.
I have looked around, and I cannot seem to find any way to root the Droid Razr HD. From the specs listed in the title, is there any known way to root this device?
Thanks!
