hi i opened this thread for explain how to backup your official firmware.
first downgrade your phone so that kies will detect an upgrade for you.
Now read on to see how to save the
firmware files during kies upgrade process.
On your pc, check the option
"Show hidden files"
Now connect your phone to pc via kies to begin the firmware upgrade.
Kies will begin to download the
firmware files...
The files will be saved in tmp files called "tmpA4CE.tmp" or other names
you can find it easily.
In Windows 7, this
tmp file is located at,
C:\Users\ * \AppData
\Local\Temp or type temp in run command.
(* is the pc user
session name, e.g. C:
\Users\chenna
\AppData\Local
\Temp)
When download iscomplete, kies
decompresses this tmp file into a zip folder and begins the firmware upgrading process.
The folder has same name as the tmp file but now with an extention of zipfolder.
When kies begins the upgrade process
starting from 1% until
it reaches 100%, quickly copy the "zipfolder" to your desktop.
You have about 2 to 3 minutes to do this.
Kies will delete the folder once upgrade is 100% (completed).
The "zipfolder" contains all the firmware files kies has used to upgrade
your phone.
Now you have a backup of official firmware from kies.
This is also useful in case kies fails to
complete the upgrade process.
Just use the saved files and manually flash your phone using odin or multiloader.

I hope I have nothing wrong to put this on here, but I am finding a lot of the information on here about rom upgrading a bit baffling!
I found this guide on wiki.xda-developers, which seems quite easy/good to follow........
 In the first step, you should try if you can run the update process directly. So just runnung the exe file and do the complete update process. But there may occur an error: -> Country ID Error
If this happens, try this way:
1. Right click on the EXE-file and extract to a named folder (using Winzip or something similiar)
2. You should end up with about 6 - 8 individual files; ms.nb1, radio.nb1, nk.nb1 ruu.conf, ruu.dll, enterbl, getdevicedata and maupgradeut, the maupgradeut is the file that runs the upgrade
3. Download the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
4. Once you have this file you will need to add this to the folder created above as this is the file needed to initiate the upgrade.
5. In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and untick the USB connection.
6. Connect the phone to the USB, and run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
7. The upgrade wizard will start, go through a few checks then eventually come up with the country Id error.
8. Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file again and this time it should allow you to run the wizard.
9. The process should then go through 3 stages which should last about 10 - 15 minutes.
10. When finished you should get the upgrade successful notification and a prompt to reset the device
11. In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and tick the USB connection.
12. Enjoy your new ROM
:!:
BUT
Is there something missing?
How does it pick up or know where to get it from, if that is the right way to describe it, the new rom data?
I find it incredible, there have been over 170 views and not one reply or help of any kind!
maybe I don't understand the question, but here is my answer.
if you run the exe-upgrade it extracts 6-8 files in a temp directory.
You should copy these to a working directory together with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
MAUpgradeUt_noID.exe or MAUpgrade.exe use the files which are in their directory.
Thanks, what I meant by missing, is does it need a cab file or something?
The files needed for the rom upgrade are present already once you have unzipped to a directory.

Do you mean these above or these below which I have unpacked from this file and put in a seperate folder?
MDACompact_WWE_1.12.152
well you schould get this when extracted :
(click on image for large version)
copy MaUpgradeUtnoID.exe into the same folder and run the upgrade with MaUpgradeUtnoID.exe
good luck
Yes. copy the MAupgrade_NoID file from the ftp area. Dont ask me where as the file structure has moved around since I last upgraded. This will ignore any country codes) and run the file, Whole process will take 20-30 mins and the MDA will have the new rom file

Update Stock ROM with LG flasher (.kdz files)-NoWipe
Prerequisites:
• LG Drivers Installed.
• LGMobile Update Tool installed.
Notice: Latest Version of LG Mobile Update prevents updating firmware from kdz files, if the phone is not in the firmware level LG expects. LG Is watching everything when you run firmware update with KDZ Method, logging everything, your mobile No, SN No, OLD Firmware, New Firmware etc. To bypass this first we make our PC to serve LG update tool locally (offline). More Info here. Then we follow the steps below as before.
To make things easier, run the Automatic Offline Procedure.vbs script, it adds 127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com entry (temporarily) in hosts file, sets a small HTTP Server on the PC listening to port 9002 which serves the requests of the LG flash utility, installs MSXML, runs all the utilities automatically and finally reverts back your hosts file removing the above entry. This script must be run as administrator so Start --All Programs Accessories right-click on Command Prompt select Run as administrator. Then drag-drop the script in and press enter.
If you are running the “Automatic Offline Procedure.vbs” continue from step 5.
1. Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi) if not already installed.
2. Run “windows enabler.exe” and switch to the "ON" position (left click on icon)
3. Enable the phone’s “USB debugging” mode (menusettingsapplicationsdevelopmentUSB debugging), connect the phone to PC and wait for drivers to be loaded.
4. Run "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe".
5. Set EMERGENCY, 3gQCT as pictured and press "Normal web upgrade test" and select your KDZ file
6. To the next window click <Upgrade Start>
7. Clear Phone Software update registry, Select "Different Country" and select your Language. Click <OK>
8. If running the “Automatic Offline Procedure.vbs” the following message will be displayed in taskbar, ignore it or just click <Cancel>.
9. The utility starts the official LG Flasher
10. Wait until it finishes. If it gives any message that the phone is not connected or something like that, disconnect it, turn it off, remove battery and plug it back holding "Volume Down" key. (Automatically goes to Upgrade mode).
11. You do this on your own risk! Good Luck...
12. When flashing ends, disconnect the phone; close the LG update tool and the R&D Test Tool utility.
==========================================================================================================================
but at step 6 when I click <Upgrade Start> then the "LG Mobile Support Tool" pops up and nothing happens.... but what is supposed to happen is that the "Select Country & Language" window is supposed to happen so that i can proceed to step 7
any HELP will be GREATLY APPRECIATED !!! Thanks..

That's a hyperlink to a pdf from LG which contains a hyperlink to its V21Y Gingerbread update utility which works with Windows 7. I tested it and it works.
1. When you run it, after the update window appears, open Windows Task Manager with Ctrl-Alt-Delete and locate the program named "Download Window" and right-click on it and click on "Go To Process".
2. Right-click on the "SmartFlashTool.exe" process and click on "Open File Location". That will open the folder "All-in-On" where all of the files for the V21Y Gingerbread update are located.
3. In that folder there's an application named "LGUnitedMobileDriver...". Run that program to install the drivers then, after the drivers are installed, close the "Download Window" which first appeared on your computer's desktop.
4. Run the "SmartFlashTool.exe" program located in the "All-in-On" folder you previously located and opened through using Windows Task Manager.
5. Follow the instructions in the pdf file you accessed when you first started this process ( http://s3.amazonaws.com/lgforum.com/...pdf?1337877028 ).
Good luck.

Then, if the audio is messed up when on the phone, follow my previous instructions which will apply the LG fix for that.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you brick your phone. And I am sorry if I posted it on the wrong spot.
Anyways, a while ago I had a terrible accident for my phone. I installed ChainFire3D on my A369i which is running 4.2.2. And since ChainFire3d is not compatible with JB, so, I am stuck in the boot screen. This is a very big problem, for the phone is a new model - no roms, no firmwares, no updates. But, I managed to fix everything. And I decided to put up a thread in case I forgot how I did it. So, here goes:
To fix it, first, I managed to install TWRP. Here's how:
Download the USB-driver for Lenovo A369i. You should use this driver and not any driver that looks like it.
Download and install the SP Flash Tool
Download TWRP recovery for SP Flash Tool.
Unpack the archives.
Turn off phone. Remove battery.
Run SP Flash Tool.
Click File> Open Scatter-loading file ... and select the file from the folder MT6572_Android_scatter_emmc.txt that is inside the TWRP recovery file.
Click the Download button and answer Yes (Yes) to the question;
Open Device Manager from the Properties of My Computer. Get it ready.
Connect phone to PC using USB cable.
This part is tricky. Open Device Manager and browse to Other devices category. You should see Preloader being installed. But Windows could not find its drivers. So, you right click it, and click Update driver, and browse to Lenovo A369i driver folder you have downloaded. You should be fast to do this, for the phone when plug in to PC without battery will turn on and off and on and off.
If everything is correct, you will see red bar in SP Flash Tool, then yellow, then a green circle.
Reboot phone to recovery, and you now have TWRP.
Second, to uninstall ChainFire3d, I used TWRP
Under TWRP, click Mount, click System, then go back to Home page.
Click Advance, click File Manager, browse to /system/lib
Look for libGLESv1_CM.so and rename it to libGLESv1_CMcf.so
Then, look for libGLESv1_CM_ORG_CF3D.so and rename it to libGLESv1_CM.so
Then, click chmod and change it to 644.
Look for libGLESv2.so and rename it to libGLESv2cf.so
Then, look for libGLESv2_ORG_CF3D.so and rename it to libGLESv2.so
Then, click chmod and change it to 644.
Reboot and wait. Phone is fixed.
Next, was to root it. Here's how:
Use motochopper exploit.
Unpack zip file..
Enable USB Debugging mode.
Connect your device to your PC via USB.
Explore to extracted directory and run run.bat

After I upgraded my desktop to windows 8, I am
unable to install USB driver for lenovo a369i. So if
anyone knows of a working driver file for this
device on windows 8 please suggest me the
link.....
I have downloaded the relevant drivers and the unrooted device is recognized by Samsung Kies and various driver managers say that the drivers are up to date..
I have downloaded Odin 3.09 and unzipped it to a folder on the desktop. The folder contains Odin and and ini file.
I have downloaded what I believe to be the relevant tar.md5 file, called CF-Auto-Root-chagallwifi-chagallwifixx-smt8--.tar.md5, unzipped it and placed it in the Odin folder on the desktop.
I then run Odin and check that only the Auto-reboot and F.rest-Time are checked.
Using guidance found on this website I have pressed volume-down, home and power buttons and reached a screen showing several options none of which clearly states download-mode.
The instructions found here said press volume-down and then power.
This has taken me to a screen showing:
# Manual Mode #
-- Applying Multi-CSC.....
Applied the CSC code : XAR
Successfully applied the multi-CSC.
Now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb sideload <filename>....
When I connect the T800 to the laptop nothing happens!!!
I'm writing this so that you all will not have to go through what I just experienced when trying to flash the android 5.0.1 OTA manual update. Here are some of the errors I've gotten out of and I will give you some tips to get fix these. I always seem to encounter issues that no one else has when flashing, so here we go.
Tip 1
1.)If you are trying to flash 5.0.1 (tip applies to any version) from the google website here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images ....Make sure your computer can handle ".tgz" files. This took me a day and a half to figure out. If you try to download one of the files off this website without the proper software to do so you will simply get a ".tgz" file that you cannot extract the necessary files from.
*The solution is to download winrar from http://www.win-rar.com/predownload.html?&L=0 this website. Once you do and run it the ".tgz" file will become a folder (icon should look like stacked books) and you can proceed to actually follow the instructions on the page where you downloaded the file from. I learned this the hard way.
Tip 2
If you dont really understand how to us the "ADB" tools or "SDK" and everything related sounds like a foreign language to you then watch this video: http://highonandroid.com/android-ro...r-android-in-a-bootloop-with-no-os-using-adb/. It will explain how to copy files to your device while in bootloop. Pay special attention to the part about making sure your drivers are set up correctly. Drivers always get me when I installs. This knowledge will transfer over to downloading any rom or factory image in the future.
Links for Moving files to your device while in recovery:
Here are the appropriate drivers for copying files while in recovery to the nexus 5:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/drivers/Android/usb_driver.zip
Here is the fastboot link: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/tools/fastboot.zip
Tip 3
The way I installed android 5.0.1 was:
1.)I downloaded the file from the google developer website that i pasted at the top
2.)I moved that file to a folder named "root" that i created on my desktop
*In this folder i have chainfire auto root http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ in case i need to re-root my phone, I have the adb and fastboot.zip folders in my root folder as well.
3.)I moved the folder inside the FASTBOOT folder and extracted the file that i got from the developer website here. Once this is down there is another
3.)I extract the files here. After you extract there should be another folder called "image-hammerhead-lrx22c.zip." I copied those files to the fastboot folder as well so that they are outside of the zip file. I did not remove the zip file once I copied the insides to the outside. Right or wrong this is what I did.
4.)I used the Command prompt to navigate to this directory. Watch the how to copy files video to see how to navigate using the "cd" command
*basically i typed "cd desktop" which means change directory to the desktop. Then i did "cd root"....then "cd fastboot" ...YOUR PATH MAY BE DIFFERENT.
5.)Once i was here i could follow more of the instructions on the developer website. I could run that "flash-all.bat" command to begin flashing the 5.0.1. In order to run this command you literally type "flash-all.bat."
6.)After it finished it said,
archive does not contain 'boot.sig'
archive does not contain 'recovery.sig'
archive does not contain 'system.sig'
helpful links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992063
This was okay, what you dont want is falures. While 5.0.1 is being installed, if you notice it say failure in the place where everything else is saying "OKAY" you have a problem. One guy on that xda link said:
"Extract the zip.You will get another file..extract that...keep extracting all the files till you get system.img, recovery.img, boot.img, etc ..then boot into bootloader and Manually flash all the img files
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
You can type this into cmd and do each one by one and it may work.
7.)YOU MUST MAKE SURE TO EXTRACT THAT SECOND FOLDER inside the developer file! If you don't you will get failures because the program is looking for them. That's why manually installing them may work as well.
8.)IF YOU SEE THE ANDROID WITH NO LOADING BAR UNDERNEATH this does not mean that you are bricked. I thought it did and kept flashing 5.0.1 over and over and over again. Then i just waited a bit and my phone rebooted and i saw the glorious dots rotating on my screen. I lived happily ever after.
9.)Once you are finished installing 5.0.1 you will loose root. Run that chainfire auto root program. You have to boot in to the bootloader screen...NOT RECOVERY...just the screen where you see the android and you can select "start" "recovery" etc. and open up that chainfire program and hit a key to start it. There are instructions on the actual program if you need help. If you are on the bootloader screen that i am talking about and you start the program it will "auto root" that is, automatically root your phone and thats that.
10.)Download root checker off the play store to see if you are actually rooted and have a blessed day. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en
Let me know if you need further explanation. I'm no pro but I've failed in soooo many ways i probably could help ya out! Jesus loves you all!
