I use estrongs file manager with root explorer turned on in options.
Yes, I have tried that too before but it doesn't work on my phone. It only works on Cyanogen and hiapk ROMs
Any more ideas?

Try this from 'adb shell' or a terminal emulator on your phone.
su
cp -rf /data/data/dirtocopy /sdcard/diryouwantyourfiles/
I think you'll need busybox installed as android doesn't come with cp.
Done.
Had to give up and use Root Explorer lol
Thanks anyway mercianary

SU binary update failed

I rooted with the method from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531646 and then installed superuser. I then tried to update the binary from 3.0.3.2 or whatever to 3.1, but it fails on mounting /system as rw. I tried reinstalling superuser but no dice. Thanks in advance.
Super user apk doesn't come with the binary. I too had issues, couldn't mount /system as RW, I mounted as RW using ES File Explorer and then reran the binary update.
You could manually install it from the V6 Supercharger files, copy/paste using a rooted file explorer or pushing with adb.

Open es file explorer, go to settings > root enhancements > check all of them, the third one down is "mount /system rw". Then re-run the binary update. If its cool, you can revert the root enhancements if you want.

Thanks. I've tried that about 5 times but it isnt working. Should I in some way try to update the binary within ES explorer?

I'm not familiar with how to do that. If your using superuser, you could try using supersu.
I have tried superuser about 10-15 times to update the binary also but that doesn't work either.

you are using root file managers, like Root Explorer?
In Root Explorer you can check permissions for your sdcard to se if you have r/w access to it. If the card is mounted as read only you
will have trouble copying anything into it.
Also note that using root file managers and have full usage of them also requires that your device itself actually is rooted.

[Q] Accessing system/apps folder on JB (slimbean)

I'm trying to access the system/apps folder on my jelly bean rom (slim bean). (4.1.2)
I am rooted, but I cannot see the folder when I access it via usb, using WellFTP or any other ways I've tried. I just need to back up the nfc.apk file and overwrite it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
I'm on slim and using root explorer I can access it. Have you tried root explorer?
You won't see it over USB at all unless you connect via adb.
Use the built in file explorer or one of the countless root enabled file manager apps on the market like Root Explorer.
Oh, and questions go in the Q&A forum.

Thanks - I saw Root Explorer but figured there was a way to do it without having to pay for an app.
Es file explorer and MANY others...

IMHO, You should use adb command to push or pull apps off device from PC.

Read only root

Hello I have root but in adb can only read NO write access if I install ES file Explorer or Titanium it wont let me enable root explorer and then mount after.
I can view files in adb and file explorer but cant delete or write etc . Thanks
You already posted that and got an answer. To be closed...
