[Q] Three APN settings? - General Questions and Answers

can anyone please tell me the correct APN settings for Three UK?
I am attempting to use my Rezound on this carrier and have acquired signal but no data.
I have searched high and low for the right settings but the results seem to vary a lot

[Q] Automatically switching network provider based on location

Hi, I've tried to do a bit of searching on XDA / google but not found exactly what I am looking for. I've seen all the APN switchers but these do not alter the actual network provider from what I understand.
What I would like to do is have an automated why of switching between T-Mobile and Orange networks. In the UK we can now use either network but the current policy is that when the provider is set to automatic network selection if a T-Mobile signal cannot be found then it should switch to an Orange signal if one is available.
This is fine but my T-Mobile signal is not very good in certain locations (fail to get SMS message) and so I'd like to be able to switch to Orange without going through the system settings menu which is slow because of the network search.
I'd love to get a tasker plugin or script that could automatically perform the switch based on location if possible.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi
Did you find any solutions for that because I need exactly the same thing?
Thanks
Sadly not, I've ended up just using the Orange signal full time.

[Resolved] [Q] Net10 LTE APN stopped working, other APN provides only HSPA+

I recently switched from Net10's 2.5GB plan to their 500MB plan. On the date of my subscription change, I lost all data functionality. I was able to restore 3G by switching from the tfdata APN to the att.mvno APN, but I like having LTE. Their tech support is sadly useless.
I see other people with the same problem: (sorry, can't post actual links yet.)
reddit /r/Nexus5/comments/1rvh6n/lte_quit_working/ (specifies APNs same as mine)
net10forum /viewtopic.php?f=5789&t=484933 (specifies cause of problem same as mine)
but I've yet to find a resolution. Has anyone experienced and resolved this issue? Thanks!
I realize this may be slightly outside the precise focus of XDA, but there's no better place to find phone experts, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem. (I checked the rules and I didn't see one against carrier questions.)
If it is a problem, I apologize.
Edit:
Resolved. If anyone else has this problem, ask the CSR to check their rate plan info and ensure that it's correct. After they fixed it, I was once again able to connect to the tfdata APN.

[Q] 3g issue

Hello there, i just got this phone 3 weeks ago and since i have wifi i didnt test the 3g conection before. i activated a data pack and i just realized that my 3g doesnt come on at all. the screen shows 4g left side of the signal strengh but it doesnt work at all. i got at&t version. i confirmed with my carrier and i did activate data, they even helped me to set up the apn but is still not working. can you helpe me? thanks!
PD: they said they couldnt have done more because they dont support that type of device
Does it say 4G or 4G LTE? The at&t icons are a bit different I'd you're not used to them.
4G = hspa
4G LTE = LTE
So if you're getting the 4G icon you are actually getting 3G hspa speeds.

If another carrier besides AT&T, you will need to find the APN settings for your carrier and manually enter it into Settings>Mobile network settings>Access point names. Select "New APN" and enter the correct settings for your manufacturer.
The 4G icon simply means a network is present, it doesn't mean you are connected to it.
thank you for helping people. whel actualy i wouldnt mind getting 3g network access, the point is that i dont have internet access at all. i called my carrier (Claro - El salvador) and they helped me to set up the apt but is still not working. i was wondering if there is something else i could try to fix this
nevermind, i finally fixed it
Please share the fix so the information is available for anyone who might have the same problem in the future.

sorry. well, first i did master reset, once done i set up an apn (carrier provides you with this info), then went to mobile network > network operators > select automatically. once the device found the "CLARO" network i turned data on and got internet service.
Thankyou, these threads live on long after we're finished with them so it's important to have the information readily available for future troubleshooters.

I'm guessing you either had not entered the APN info exactly correctly the first time. Or also, after entering the APN you actually have to select it as the "active" one on the list of APNs (making sure it has the colored dot next to it). Maybe it did need a factory reset, but this shouldn't be necessary just to change APN.
Happy you got it figured out.

[Q] Modifying APNs with 4.4.2 (NE1)

Hello,
I've been putting off asking the question as I thought that somebody else had to have gone through this already but I've had poor luck looking through the forum and Google hasn't been able to help.
I'll be traveling to Italy in the near future with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 (Build KOT49H.I535VRUDNE1). I would like to pick up a TIN or WIND SIM while I'm there, primarily for data usage. From what I've read, once I install the 3rd party SIM, I'll need to update the APN settings to get data to work.
Stock, it looks like the APN settings are uneditable. I rooted the phone with towelroot (if only everything were so easy) and then checked the APN settings to see if I could add another network. No dice.
Poking around on the web, it looks like in the past, people have been able to work around this by downloading build prop editor and adding the following two lines:
ril.sales_code=LOL
ro.csc.sales_code=LOL
I gave this a shot and was surprised to see the APN menu gone when I went back into my network settings. Through trial and error, I determined that the inclusion of ro.csc.sale_code=LOL changes my Mobile Networks options from:
- Mobile Data
- Global Data Roaming Access
- Roaming
- Signal Strength
- Network Mode
- Access Point Names
- Network Operators
to:
- Mobile Data
- Data Roaming
- Network Mode (GSM is not an option in here)
- System Select
- Dial Up Networking
There is no option to modify APN settings there. Am I missing something silly? Did something change in KitKat 4.4.2 that has caused this approach to "unlocking" the APN settings to become invalid? Is everything really ok and I'll have access to the APN settings when I insert the italian carrier's SIM card?
I'm game for other approaches as well. At one point, I thought I saw an article that talked about setting up a pointer to the APN settings prior to updating the prop file but I haven't been able to relocate that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Aaron
In the event somebody else is looking for the answer, I got my hands on a TIM sim card today, installed it in the phone and the APN menu reappeared and let me enter a new APN. Looks like the answer as of today for this phone is TowelRoot, SuperSU, BuildProp and install the 3rd party sim.
Take care,
Aaron

Carrier Settings and phone settiings

I've been using Three on my OPO for a couple of weeks now after I transferred from Giffgaff.
I am trying to avoid speaking to the support at three as they are notoriously bad. I've tried emailing them twice about settings after I searched everywhere for APN settings and advice. Eventually I managed to get a basic APN from a post on here along with instructions on how to change the preferred network type. However I am unsure I have covered everything and I have been having issues with the reception dropping out.
When it does drop out it keeps telling me there is no network (giffgaff) even though I think I've got it set up for 3, which is confusing me.
Other than the APN and selecting the network, is there a setting I've missed somewhere?
I'm still having issues with my phone dropping signal. I don't know if it is three or the phone. Is there any way to check this?
While sitting at my desk at work, I go from having H+ or LTE to having nothing with the "emergency calls only" notification.
Can anyone help?
