[Q] Will I lose my root if I do Factory Reset? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have the Rogers (Canada) Infuse running on GB 2.3.3 Firmware. I rooted using the method I have found in this website. I was just wondering if I ever decide to perform a Factory Reset, will I lose my root as well? If so, how will I back the root up (if it is applicable)?
Thanks!

i have done it several times...
bt ya if u install another rom or update then u wll loose yur root..

Guys pls.help me.I rooted my Samsung Galxay s i9003.It was succesfull but my phone became Samsung Galaxy s i9000.Even the version of my phone went lower. Should I unroot it?
I used superoneclick to root my phone
no no you shouldnt unroot it its allright
Is there a way to bring back the phone to it's original version?I had 2.2.2 before I rooted it.I tried to ipe everything including formatting my internal sd card. But the kernell is still there. How can I flash my phone to it's original state.Froyo 2.2.2.So my warranty won' be voided. ^_^
Also all the root applications only reads my phone as GT-I9000 not as GT-I9003. So I can't even overclock CPU.I tried the Set CPU full version. But it anly ready 1000 mh which is my stock CPU for GT-I9003.
You can not "unvoid" your warranty.
There is no such thing as "unvoiding your warranty".
Wipe and reset only clears user data and sets to factory defaults.
The factory defaults also is the new kernel now, because you changed it.
You can to make sure that no one noticed that you flashed your phone.
Find the originals kernel/rom that was on it and flash it back.
You might also need to reset the flash counter using a JIG.
Thanks guyz for the reply.I will check out procedure to flash tomm.I think that would be the best option atm.

Completely wiping my skyrocket

I'm on Chimera and my sister is taking this phone tomorrow. I remember there being some threat of a hard brick if you formatted something. Basically I want to wipe pics, and all these random folders from the phone. I want it as clean as possible so she has a nice fresh phone. I just don't want to brick this thing before I give it to her! Usually I factory reset in twrp is there an option in there to clean things up?

Just plug it into your PC and format from there. Safest and easier way.

This works for me..Try this
Factory Reset *2767*3855#
Do NOT format your phone, period. It WILL brick it.
Just use Odin to flash the ROM of your choice. Once you Odin, all user data on the phone will be gone.

the brick problem was for aokp and cm9 roms, a dev bricked his phone while in settings and doing a reset, since then they disabled that feature(pretty sure they did), it might b visable in the menu but it doesnt do anything.
if you are on stock rogers ics it should be fine (i cant see samsung releasing it as that is a major flaw, lots of returned phones), if u r on it try it, it should b safe, if it bricked it write post it here , and tell rogers what happen and u will get another one .
custom rogers ics should also b safe, im on skyics 4.2f based on rogers ics, but im not willing to chance it, dont need to since i can use cwm or my pc to accomplish the same thing.
i agree w/the post is that u can just odin back to stock

As clean as possible? That would be ODIN. It will be as the day you pulled it out of the box. It will completely restore the factory image and leave no trace of anything.

How to prepare a phone for sale ?

Well (that instructions may apply to any phone, not just SGS2):
- flash Stock ROM / un-root if you are already on stock rom
- wipe data / factory reset
- format internal storage (remember, it's not affected by factory reset and may contain private data)
same applies to your SD card if you are selling phone with it
You might want to flash a custom ROM and keep it rooted since that brings the value of the phone up, people are willing to buy it for more.

Buddy. What's ur firmware when u did root. Root wont cause any problems. But the procedure of rooting if done incorrectly may cause problem. Flash your stock firmware once again via odin. Do a wipe cache.Take a backup of all ur data and apps before flashing. Apps can be backed by App backup & Restore app. Do a Wipe data. Your problem will be solved. :good:
Just Rooting device will not cause any problem, so i feel you did some mistake...
For removing root just flash Stock ROM of your country (Samsung ROM) you can download it from here and once it is done clear Cache and Dalvik cache, Follow the steps which are mentioned in the below link for flashing the stock ROM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406664
We dont have an ICS ROM, But we have ICS themed ROM's which look like ICS ROM you can flash (Make sure you follow the steps correctly) them and try both are good ROM's:
1. Mazel ROM.
2. Neo ROM.
Happy Flashing....
NEO Rom FTW \m/ :highfive:
I have flashed my SGR first with neo rom 2.0 and now currently using the mazel ROM . i have a lot of space occupied with folders which i do not understand . Is there any way i can remove the unwanted folders and free some space.
Secondly if i want to Do a factory reset with the stock rom and start all over again , how do i do that.

[Q] Updating, not losing apps"Custom ROM."

I got my Note 10.1 a few months back. Now I have got a lot of apps that I love and don't want to lose.
I am using a custom European ROM made by zedomax "HighonAndroid".
I've decided 2 days ago that I want to update my note to jelly bean.
My question is: How can I back up all my applications before wipe/data reset?
I really don't want to lose the apps nor the root.
Can anyone help me?

titanium backup, buy it. you'll use it all the time
You can make a flashable zip of your stuff. If you do this, I have only had good resaults of flashing it after rebooting into the new rom and then flash the update zip. also would be good if you went ahead and did the thing in your securty setting to allow the non play store apps, especially if you have them.
This usually does a great job of doing the data part of the apps like logins and stuff. sometimes mine dont work right at first but it still saves a lot of time
If the rom you are going to doesnt have root built into it, which I think all here do, then getting root back isnt hard and there is this voodoo root keeper app as well somewhere maybe on the market. but rerooting isnt that big of a deal and shouldnt be nesesary

Ty very informative, but I don't think the root will be installed because im going for stock JB.
Only question is can I flash in germany's ROM when I'm on European now?
Yep, ODIN or mobile ODIN will do it... You would benefit from backing up internal sd card - connect to pc and copy contents of phone/internal.... This means if it does an entire wipe you don't loose all your game saves etc.... Not likely to but the chance is always there, especially if you use mobile ODIN and tick "clear cache/data"...
Though I am curious why you don't flash the stock UK JB rom in developement as all are the same, just csc is different...

I have up and I believe darkman_rs does as well, stock versions of the jelly bean set up to run on an 8013. Mine is for the uk and I think darkman has the nordik. Either will work. I am in the U.S. and use the uk version with no issues. The csc is consumer region stuff, both of these roms have that stuff taken care of so they will not have an issue in any region.
So if you are on a custom rom and want to go to a complete stock, then go to sammobile, firmware, download one from there and flash through odin, then reroot
Or you can grab another stock, or custom rom from here set to flash through cwm and go that route
Stock, rooted UK rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027604
Thanks to Smaw51....
CWM for this, don't need to muck about with ODIN...

If you are coming from ICS then yes, a complete wipe of everything is reconremended. If you do not do a full wipe and get FC, then you need to do a full wipe
