I have extracted the system.rfs of the new GT-I9003 firmware I9003XXJL9 which I think might be helpful for moders and developers.

ok, but... What are the advantages of this system.rfs ?

It's the same as factoryfs.rfs on the I9000 firmwares, everything except the kernel and the modem firmware. The XXJL9 is Gingerbread firmware.

Meaning with this,
We get one Big step for unofficial gingerbread Rom, and a giant leap for GalaxyS kind.

Correct, when the applications etc. has been de-odexeded then they can be freely put in any costume ROM that can be flashed to an I9000 and will look/behave exactly as a Nexus S/I9003.

eh, clearly 2.2.1 after downloading. system.prop says 2.2.1 and froyo all over the place and build.prop says sdk version 8 (which is froyo)... boo misleading and disappointment

You are correct, I did not check the build.prop file, my mistake. This is why I thought that it was a 2.3 version: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2707&c=samsung_gt-i9003
I would like to ask the mods to delete this thread.

If you have Drhonk's kernel installed on KJ5 already, you'll have to boot into recovery, disable voodoo, then flash this via ODIN. You can put drhonk's kernel back on top of this one when done.

Going about my business oh look new ROM KJ5 whoo!!:-D lets install goes back to xda KJ6¡!!!!:-O WHAT THE FUDGE!!!!! Ahhhhhh

No, if you have the old July 2011 baseband it shouls be working fine.
In fact the Owain has a zip to make the ROM work with the new baseband.
What baseband are you currently running? And what steps are you taking on flashing the ROM?

Currently unsure of my current baseband. Believe its the original. Currently I have Hellfire but was looking to switch to domination but had a band experience but wanna give another try.
Last time had phone all messed up, couldn't get to recovery and the grim reaper appeared on my screen. Also I don't know which domination file share to use.

AOSP Rom JB 4.2.2 Ported

I have just successfully ported this rom from Vibrant. It is based on the original Google's AOSP rom. Does anyone up for a test drive? I haven't tested it yet.

Darn it. Just tested. It just hanged at the logo screen upon reboot.

It booted up to the logo and just hanged there. I've been trying for about 4 hours and I still get the same thing. Everything installed fine, but when I did a system reboot, it only loaded to the logo screen.

Grab a log of the boot and see where it's hanging.

4.2.2 is hard to grab logs since adb debugging is turned off by default.
How are you porting this? What's your base? Is it hanging at the boot kernel splash? Are you still able to get to cwm/twrp?

I am using your cm-10.1 as base. I am porting using Porting 1.2.5 script. It passed the kernel splash screen but hanged at the rom splash screen. Yes, I am able to get in cwm. This is the rom: [ROM][AOSP][JB][4.2.2][JDQ39] SuperNexus 2.0 from Vibrant forum that I was trying to learn to port. I even did it manually, still getting hanged at the splash screen.

They might've changed JB enough that they won't work though... :/
EDIT:
If someone can test it? Modify the build.prop in the zip file for the rom, then try doing a factory reset, flash the rom and see if they can connect to the phone via ADB without having to mess with the settings first. If that works then we should definitely enable this on all the JB roms 'cause it's annoying as hell not being able to pull up a logcat on a bootloop.

I'll give it a try.
