Sony Ericsson Xperia range grabs 4 iF design awards - Android General

The honored devices were the rugged Xperia active, the compact Xperia ray and Xperia mini and the music-centered Live with Walkman. Quite the achievement for the soon-to-become Sony company, considering that those four smartphones are actually quite different from each other in terms of aesthetics.
According to the jury, the takeaway from this year's iF awards is: „The interplay of different textures, of matt and high-gloss finishes and of tactile and colored surfaces is particularly to the fore this year and serves, primarily, as a means of differentiation in the marketplace."

[Q] [New Phone Buying] Galaxy S vs. Xperia Neo vs. ...

Hello everyone!
I've been using my HTC Legend for a while now and I was quite happy with it, except performance breaking down several times. So lately I decided to root the phone and throw some custom ROM on it, preferably CM7. Well, I am a little ashamed to confess, that it hasn't just worked out yet, but according to several postings my Goldcard seems to be the problem.
Anyway, I came up with the idea of buying myself a new droid. The criteria is easy in fact. It should have a bigger screen than the Legend and sunlight legibility should be good (oh yeah, that was another issue with my legend). And it should be fast and pretty. Last but definitly not least: Custom ROM Support is important!
Until now I've made a choice for a few phones I like.
-Sony Ericsson Xperia NEO
-Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
-LG p970 Optimus Black
-Samsung Galaxy S 9000
What phones do you think match my criteria best? Have you got any other propositions in the same price range?

Sony has some very cool low and mid-range phones too.
Quality and specs come to a price.
The Z is the flagship, not that expensive when compared to other flagship phones (Galaxy S III, iPhone, HTC One, etc)

yes sony does make some expensive products but they are world class and some of the best featured. Upto 11 Hours of Talk Time 13 Megapixel camera, Android 4.1 and 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Quad Core what else can you ask for.

New phone. Money no object. Help me select.

New work phone that will be bought from the carrier. Price no consideration. The carrier is selling these phones unlocked and types modem shouldn't be and issue. The company just gives me a phone every 2 years and pays carrier fees. No maintenance, extras, out of warranty fixes or accessories added. Will own this phone in a year of working for them. I tend to update and maintain my phones and I dabble in Android development.
Most important critera:
Good reception and call quality
Sturdyness
Easy and cheap to fix
Good mod community and long time mod support (preferably with NFC intact)
Middling importance:
Battery.
Size (not 5.5+)
Camera
Decently dust/waterproof
Not important:
Screen quality (above 720p)
Storage (above 16GB)
CPU/GPU
Weight
Wifi reception
MicroSD
Wireless charging
Fingerprint/retina scan
Speakers
Front camera
Available choices (leaving out some older generation devices):
HTC 10
Huawei P9 Titanium
Samsung Galaxy A5 A510
Samsung Galaxy S7
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 G389
Sony Xperia M5
Sony Xperia X
Sony Xperia X Performance
Sony Xperia XA
Sony Xperia XZ
ZTE Axon 7
Leaning towards the Xperia XZ. Samsung seems to be no good for mod support in recent generations. Don't know about HTC, ZTE and Huawei.

Don't go for Samsung their ram management is not to good
And google out the other models and compare them
OP3T is sadly not an option. Work is buying what I ask for from the list above. The main criteria is ease of repair and mod support for the models in the list.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium or Xiaomi MI6?

Hello guys,
need your honest opinion.
I want to upgrade my device. I have Moto G5s Plus at this moment. i am actually happy with this device but the camera is very bad.
I am thinking of Sony Xperia XZ Premium or Xiaomi MI6? Which do you think is better?
I like to have snapdragon 835 devices and both prices are cheaper than others.
Pricing:
Xperia XZ Premium= 424 USD
mi 6= 384 USD
both prices used phones.
Thanks guys
XZ Premium, faster updates, stock android looks, better performer, IP68 and better brand
The Mi6 is crap for updates, smaller, MIUI is crap, incredibly slow updates, performs worse and no IP68 rating
For a celebrity like yourself, I'd say the XZ Premium but if you have access to them both in person, you should compare them and see which one suits your need.

Recommendation to a phone with small screen?

Hello,
there are so many android phones out there, and i just wanted to ask whether you have any recommendations to a model which fits my needs and can be bought used for cheap, should be no problem if it's a few years old.
things it needs:
small size (like iPhone 6 or 12 mini)
nfc for Google Pay
maybe Snapdragon 8xx
good battery time
good custom Rom support
Phones like the Pixel 2 or Axon 7 seem to be good, but their Display is a large 5,5" 16:9... and the "lite" phones are often the "cheap" less powerful variant of their bigger brothers.
Thanks in advance
If you're ok with an older phone the Sony Xperia XZ2 is my favorite compact phone I've ever used.

I did not knew them, but this is not especially this i was searching for. Thanks anyway
I'd also like to recommend a Sony: the Xperia XA2. Released around the same time as the other models suggested in this thread. I bought this one specifically because it's the most "modern" phone that I could find that still had a 16:9 screen.
Officially supports LIneageOS as well as SailfishOS if you're a die-hard Linux nerd.
That Sony Xperia XA2 would be a good possibility....
