You don't want to change voltage as that WILL fry your phone.
What you want is a higher current output (mA).
A computer usb won't do for this, so you'll want a wall charger. But you don't want too high of a current either. Just get one with a higher current than the stock charger.

Thanks for correcting me. The wall charger is what I guess I'm trying to avoid. I charge my phone via usb from my radio in my car but it takes far to long. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, that uses the usb spec which is 5V dc @ 500 mA. And there isn't a way to change that.
You'll have to get a dedicated charger of at least 1 A (or 1000 mA).

****ty, when i use the gps and charge it, its a wash. I guess im hiding a cig outlet in my dash somewhere. sounds like im doing a right up in the passat forum.
Newer Gigabyte boards offer USB ON/OFF charging, which offers slightly more than 1 A of current when the computer is off. But you can still use the port for charging.
My main concern is the usb connection in my car.

You can boost it, just use Ohm's law. Find the element(s) in the circuit and change them.

Well, I = V/R
A car's battery is 12 V. Use a multimeter and identify what circuit elements need to be changed and change them.

I'm pretty sure it's more than a resistor regulating the voltage at 5v. Also, it's not as simple as changing resistors, especially with surface mount devices. It would be MUCH easier to hard wire in a charger with at least 1A current output than mess with a usb connection that also could very well fry the deck.

It depends on your motherboard. My Asus has a feature on the USB 3.0 ports that charges about as fast as using the wall plug

I didn't specifically mention resistors. Circuit elements can be anything from resistors, capacitors, gates, etc.
Thanks for the input guys.

mine will merely maintain the charge while im using the wifi hotspot and have it charging off the laptop. not worth it to mess with the wiring in your car. luckily, i have 12v and 110v in my car so i have options
Am I missing the blinding obvious here? Why not use a car charger?

If u got 2 usb ports use a Y cable. 2ports 5v...1000mah .correct me if im wrong
Guys, what is the maximal output current? Will 1.5A fry the phone/battery? (HTC Sensation of course)

No.
The voltage is what will fry it.
A 1.5 amp charge won't deliver 1.5 amps all the time. That means it's capable of delivering 1.5 amps. The actual amperage is determined by the phone. The phone is only going to draw 1 amp.
What you want to make sure of is that the charger is a standard 5 Volt charger. The voltage is what the charger will deliver every time no matter what is plugged into it. If you have a charger fro a difference device that delivers 12 Volts, it will end your phone.

More powerfull charger??

Is there any more powerfull charger then stock charger ?
It takes me about 2hours from 50-100% to charge it its really a pain as i max get 1h30 mins of screen on time :/ and the battery runs out quite fast but takes ages to charge back...

Till it gets moved...
Look for an older Nokia charger with micro usb. I've got one from an old phone and it charges my sensation from close to 0 to 100% in under 2 hours.

Ive found an old one but no micro usb but i wonder why all chargers outputs the same thing like not the usb cable but the power box ? On my old device i changed the usb cord and plugged in the same power box results : 2x faster charge

The higher the mAh output, the faster it'll charge. If your battery is 1900mAh, and you have a 750mAh DC output, it'll take 2.53 hours to charge (roughly). The best you can usually find is around an amp, 1.0 mAh, and that'll charge it in a little less than two hours. I'm using a MiFi charger with 1.05mAh, works pretty good. You can find out what a charger's DC output is by reading it's label.
i have an ipad charger and it's alot faster than the charger that cam out with my phone
i think it's 2.1A or something

[Q] Voltage problem?

Heya,
So when my girlfriend plugs her inspire into her laptop it says the phone is using too much voltage/current than what its being provided so it wont charge... Though when i am at her house and charge my vivid with her wall plug i feel like my phone charges a lot more slowly.. Could this be a cable problem for her or an electrical problem?
She lives in a older house so that made me wonder if it could be electrical or something...
I also just recently got it back from HTC because of a dead motherboard and i charged it at my house no problem...
The phone is running WCX Sense 3.5 1.5ghz ROM if that brings any light on the subject
Edit: was a cable/wall charger problem and is fixed
Make sure that you are using the original cable. Some USB cables do not work properly...try using a different one to see what happens

Yeah found out my cable actually charged the phone a lot faster... funny thing is that mine is just a random one i bought at bestbuy xD because of my cable breaking... So weird just going to buy her my cable and call it good
Thanks for your reply
I know for sure that cheap after market chargers (like Chinese ones I know for sure) can fry your phone because of a voltage problem lol

Problem with charging issues

My xe doesn't have any battery draining issues but charges very slow.
How can I solve it?
That's normal even my sensation does that you can buy ipad chargers which outputs higher voltage and thus charge way faster

Question adout car battery charger not working

Hallo, i have a question about my car battery charger:
I was on ARHD 6.6.3 with Bricked-3.0-v1.31-ics kernel, and all was working fine. My car charger has 2 1000mAh each ports and charged the phone as fast as the wall charger... It was beautyful!
Since I upgraded to my actual configuration (you can see it in signature) when i plug it to the phone a message pops up saying that the battery charger is not recognized as its original charger and to disconnect it because it could harm the device.
Any idea about solving this problem? Did someone experience this problem?
Very strange because I use a car charger that is a simple universal charger not even made for the sensation and I have no problems! I got it at the super market as cheap as They come! Phone has no problem what so ever with it. Perhaps somehow the charger has became incompatible with the device. Which is strange because you said it worked before. I'd get another charger and just use that.universal chargers are very affordable. Very strange how it became incompatible all of a sudden. All I can think is get another charger. Perhaps it was incompatible to begin with but took some time to register the error.

also In my opinion is very strange!
My suspect us that something changed in kernel/ROM/firmware...

Have you tried using a different charger? Does the error persist with different chargers also?? This is something to check. Hopefully it was only within that one particular charger! You should do a experiment and see if error code persists with a different charger? If it does than the issue could be software related. If it does not it might just be incompatibility of that particular charger.
