[REQ] TWRP port? - Epic 4G Android Development

I hope I don't get flamed for asking this but are there any devs working on porting TWRP for the transformer? I have it on my Kindle Fire and I love it!

First off, there isn't one. I think the benefit of a touch-based recovery for the Kindle is because a LOT of people new to Android got Kindle Fires over the holidays, so they need something that's simple to use. CWM works just fine for us.
Second off, you asked a question and I gave an answer. In the future, please post Qs and receive As in Q&A ;-).

Info for VEGAn Rom Sticky...

A while back I stumbled across an Advent Vega site which had a copy of the Vega tablet manual -- this is the same Vega that our "VEGAn ROM" is based on. After looking at the manual, I realized it would be a big help to anyone running the VEGAn ROM offered here in this forum.
I posted a quick note giving the address of the site for G-Tablet VEGAn Rom users:
http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/
Earlier today it was moved by a moderator to the Vega General forum which will not help G-Tablet users at all.
Can someone -- if you agree about the usefulness -- get this address included in the STICKY on VEGAn Rom so it will be here for our G-Tablet people's use?
Rev
EDIT: Moderator returned the post to G-Tablet from Vega but still left it in General away from the ROM info Still would be a good idea to get it in the sticky. IMHO.
Again, folks, I wrote a note asking that info be added to a "sticky" in Developers for the good the developers and people using the VEGAn ROM. Only person that can do that is the developer who wrote it and he lives there.
But someone pulled this out of Developers without apology or comment even though the request concerns a Developers sticky and info for it. Again, I think it is rude and inappropriate.
We need to communicate and work together and someone's making that more and more difficult.

P. S. -- And if whoever is doing it is doing so because they are mad at me or don't like me or how I work -- then shame on you for hurting others just to get at me.

[Q] Noob wants to post on developer forum

Hi, guys!
I am a relative noob to XDA - I got a Kindle Fire (preordered first day) and (for my lovely bride of 32 years) a Asus transformer Prime - again, pre-ordered first day. With these hot new toys in hand, I went looking for a place to start customizing them. In particular, I wanted to make the Kindle Fire into an actual Android tablet (or as close to one as possible with the hardware limitations). I found this site and am now using my third version of CyanogenMod 9 for the Fire.
My problem is - I know I'm a noob here, but I'm not a complete moron, yet I am prevented from posting until I post at least 10 times in forums like this one. In 1970, when most of the users of this site weren't yet even a twinkle in their respective daddys' eyes, I took my first programming course at college - programming an IBM 360 with series 40 compiler using Fortran input through punch cards. That doesn't mean I know squat about Android - I don't - but I was also using the internet long before there was a "World Wide Web" and posting on forums that I read on a monochrome CRT. I understand a little about bulletin board etiquette and I DO read before I ask a noob question. Despite my ignorance of Android programming and hacking, there are questions to which I can provide answers and I have questions to which devs might deign respond.
Is there any chance a grampa like me might be granted dispensation to post to, say, "Amazon Kindle FireKindle Fire Android Development[ROM][24 Feb] IceCreamSandwich Development/Discussion Thread" without having to jump through hoops to establish my worth?
I'm also new to the forums, joining purely to offer feedback on a new ROM I tried until I saw about the 10 post rule, so I feel your pain. I don't know much about the forums yet, but I can't imagine them making exceptions. It seems like it'd be more work than it's worth, as many people would ask to be allowed immediate access to all privelgaes. It's easier to have rules with "no buts." Just my thoughts
there's always the offtopic threads

[Completed] [Q] NOOK HD+ unable to load profile--NOOK freezes

Greetings!
First of all let me apologize to all in case this isn't in the correct forum. This is actually, I'm embarrassed to say, my first post as a member of XDA-developers, although I've been reading the site for almost a year, so if I blatantly violate any rules of etiquette or usage I hope you'll be able to forgive me and understand that it is certainly not intentional.
As for my problem/question, I can only pray to the gods of Android (namely the two chief deities, Droidon and Googolplexia) that my NOOK HD+ isn't possessed by some insane Android version of Siri (not Skyvi but the SpeakToIt Assistant app). One wouldn't expect possession by a benevolent Android app, and I'd much sooner expect this kind of demonic embrace by a crApple app, as we all know how horribly disgusting and in bad taste apple and its horde of cohorts is!
But I digress. Excuse my tangential branching; it's been a loooong frustrating day, so without taking any more of your valuable time I'll explain my dilemma and hope someone here has a simple solution. Either way, I most sincerely thank you in advance for any advice or solutions you can give.
The problem is, my mom came to me with a problem she has on her NOOK HD+. When you turn on the screen by tapping the power or home buttons, the profile selection screen shows up as usual, but when you attempt to select a profile by dragging it to the center of the circle (or anywhere for that matter), nothing happens, except that a veritable symphony of useless information and voice recordings of the aforementioned Assistant app are heard, almost as if she's complaining. In other words, the device is basically frozen, the only things it allows you to do is turn the screen back off or shutdown the NOOK HD+. I've tried the latter, of course, and restarted it, but to my dismay was faced with the same problem.
I'm going out of my mind trying to think of what to do. I'd be happy to just do a factory reset, but my mom really doesn't like that idea, and wants to keep the apps she has on it and stuff. So as I said earlier, I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance my friends!
Yours most reverently and sincerely,
Everfroszt (William)

[Completed] have there been successful occurrences of applying the 2nd bootloader exploit?

noob trying to get some xp and gain some knowledge.
i have the Amazon Kindle Fire 2nd gen running sysv 10.5.1
i have root access (kingroot, newest version. gained access once, then did factory reset, and did it again. kingroot stayed on HD after reset. idk why)
tested both times with es file mngr to ensure true / permissions
removed bloatware and advertisement apps. disabled some start-up processes snagged a couple of cool *root* apps and what not on the first go around.
only gained / access after the "factory reset" to not disturb too much and possibly fubar the whole gig when i'm so close to the goal
ultimate desired state atm is cm-11 (for otter2) TWRP 2.6.3.1 with some cool ass apps and blahblahblah
this is the guide im about to follow https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_otter2 with the exception of the cable thing. i feel fairly confident that i can fastboot without it since i have superuser abilities and ive read several places that its doable but much safer and easier with the "sudo" cable. im a big boy. im willing to take a chance but if its not possible without the cable of paramount capabilities then it would be asinine to brick my **** "cuz i figurd it wud werk alright"
Sorry to be so long winded. just trying to be well detailed to make sure you guys know where i'm at in my little adventure.
So finally to the question
i've read two very different opinions on this from multiple people, in multiple threads, on multiple forums, etc.
is fastboot mode or state (however its referred to) achievable on the AKF(2ndGen) v10.5.1 as / without that eversofrustrating cable? like, is there a credible dev out there that says "yeah, dudes. f*** the cable. i just make it sudo whatever i tell it to" not necessarily verbatim but, you're smart, you know what im getting at.
simply put CAN IT BE DONE!?! (really im just trying to flash a rom on something that my wife wont remove my right testicle for bricking just to get a feel before using the fancy new trick discovered for LG G3 VS985. super excited. just the tot to 10 then kdz to 12 whatever whatever has me only slightly perspiring)
thank you for your time patience knowledge and inconceivable willingness to help losers like me who have a linux literacy of the 3rd grade on a good day. you guys are so awesome.
and im not just saying that. i swear
hello,
Welcome to XDA.
I have a KFHD7(1st Gen), the customization process involves installing a 2nd bootloader. I'm not familiar with the 2nd gen though.
Look through the Kindle fire forum linked below and see if there is anything to help you, you'll need to look through the "Android Development" and the "Original Android Development subforums there for all the custom mods for that device.

Kindle Fire HD 3rd gen (HELP)

Hey all,
I recently got my hands on a kindle fire HD 3rd gen tablet and wanted to root it because the amazon OS is terrible. unfortunately i could not find any guides on how to root this specific tablet (i tried rooting my first kindle fire but TWRP didn't install correctly and it is now bricked.) I want to be careful rooting the tablet this time around so any suggestions on where to get started would be greatly appreciated! right now i cannot seem to get it recognized by my pc, i am not sure if it is a cable problem in not but it shows up as unknown device in my device manager tab. I am a newcomer to rooting so again any suggestions would be great. Thanks!
