Which phone does everyone prefer? i know the nexus s will be getting ics and the galaxy s will not. But that doesn't necessarily mean the nexus is superior to the galaxy. Please respond
Nexus S with CM7 would get my vote.
Of course a Nexus One would be better!
Galaxy S has microSD expansion slot, thus Nexus should get that option for my vote
do either of you know which of the two is more stable or are they about the same? cause both of them have pros and cons that make them about even.
I would definitely take the Nexus.

Galaxy s2 hercules or Galaxy nexus?
I have a Nexus S and run the CM9 alpha. It's quite stable, though it's missing a lot of the features CM7 has and a lot of the features CM9 is supposed to have when official nightlies start dropping.
One thing I am really loving about the alpha CM9 (using netarchy's kernel) is that deep idle finally works without issue. In CM7, no matter what kernel I used, deep idle would give me sleeps of death.
the galaxy s i9000 or the just the original nexus s
Nexus all the way! only because it is independent of all the bloatware that comes loaded on almost all the U.S. variants of Galaxy S
it appears that i will be going with the nexus s. thanks to all, the posts were very helpful. Im very excited to get rid of my motorola milestone
I preferred a galaxy to a Nexus S, because it has external SD and why there are fantastic ROM available.
There is a porting of ICS too.
Great phone.
Not only because I have one, but i'll say Nexus S!

I have an original Evo and was itching to trade for a phone a tad smaller. I dont care about slide out keyboards cuz im use to screen typing but was thinking of trading my evo for either an evo shift or sprints nexus s. Of all three phones HTC EVO, Nexus S, Evo Shift which one is better in your opinion and why?
Thanks.
Nexus S 4G
Awesome screen, no carrier bloatware, pretty much no need to root or flash it. All the best roms are trying to be a Nexus S. Also Gingerbread right out of the box...did i mention the awesome screen?

Nexus S is a great device, but I'm still facepalming over the lack of an sdcard slot. Why, Google, why? One of the great advantages of Android devices over the iPhone is expandable memory.
And really, the Galaxy S (all variants) have sdcard slots... so why not the NS?
Nexus s but just get sgs there same thing as nexus but with SD slot

TouchWiz though, and CM7 isn't completely stable on the GSM Galaxy S devices. GPS does not work.
If CM7 stable was on the Vibrant, I'd probably sell my Glacier and go back... I left that phone primarily because Samsung doesn't seem to understand GPL compliance...
There is no such "best phone"
What is best for me may not be for you
I want ICS, I can't afford a Galaxy Nexus, I'm willing to root/flash, and I want to replace my Nexus one. What phone should I buy?
The Nexus S is the obvious choice but are there any other contenders?
Thanks
Vibrant. Phone is real cheap too. Vibrant also have miui and cm7 so yeaaA

One thing, Nexus One will have a ics custom rom.
However if you want to change then yeah go for the Nexus S! I'm using it. I used to have the htc desire which is almost the same as the nexus one and the speed boost you get from the nexus s is very noticable. Get the Nexus S! Good luck.
If i'm willing to root and/or run CM9, is there any difference in terms of support between the Nexus S and Galaxy S I or II? Will it take longer for stable ICS builds to reach the GSII? Seems like the GSII can be had a for a bit more but is quite a bit more powerful (and therefore futureproof).
I think the SGS2 is a no-brainer for most people, if you don't mind the larger screen.
It will get official as well as Custom support for ICS.
i'm going to get a new phone to replace my Samsung gs Captivate,
my phone is still working , but getting slow since i have more then 60apps installed, and camera focus is broken.
my phone is rooted+custom 2.3ROM+OC, still slow...XXXXXX
im in BC, canada with roger, still have 1 year contract.
i like the look of GS II(i9100)
but rogers don't have it, only Bell GSII 4G look the same, and i'm not going to move to bell
3 device im interested
Motorola razr
Galaxy Nexus
GSII LTE(i'm not going to upgrade to LTE network...LTE seems less interested to me)
what i think about those 3 phones
razr have the best look(i think).
Galaxy Nexushave the best support for android(son of Google)
LTE.....only faster CPU, and expensive LTE
which one should i get....
give me some suggestions please
thank you very much
i'd go for the Galaxy Nexus seeing you're into custom roms
Galaxy Nexus should
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is fine, or the HTC HD2 (warning, it has windows but HUGE Android ROM Support here)
HTC sensation?
GS2 is better than Sensation, not to mention Gnexus..
GS2 weights less, performs much faster (my bro can barely play GTA3 on Sensation) and has a much, much better* screen which you can even use outdoors.
HTC Sensation is very nice. ;-) Awesome design and performance!
Go with the Nexus...
720p resolution screen is amazing!
Plus it's a google phone and from the looks it will be a major flagship device for them (unlike the nexus s), so it will receive all and any new updates first. That being said when the official release is made the custom roms will only be that much more stable!
thank you everyone!
i guess i will go for galaxy nexus.

I woudla said sgs or sgs II but seeing how you're not interested in the SGS and nor much interested in the SGS II then i'd say galaxy nexus, being a direct google product has the obvious benefits, plus being a samsung product ensures good reliability, and custom ROM-ing seems very popular and well supported for the samsung line of smart phones. My SGS seems to have a shed load of ROMS for it!
Nexus S

That will be my choice too, go for it.
--------------------------------
HTC Sensation @ ARHD 6.2.1
--------------------------------
Galaxy Nexus
Galaxy Nexus. Simple choice.
If you must choose now take Galaxy Nexus, but better is to wate until april/may when new phones will arrive to carriers.
Nexus
I would say #1 is the galaxy nexus. It is a great advantage if you want stock android, and if you generally use the stock rom. If you use custom roms, then this won't be a big deal, as you can flash an updated rom. The motorola razr is the second best choice in my opinion. Motorola phones have relatively low amounts of bloatware and are relatively easy to root compared to other phones like samsung.
hope i helped
Nexus S
you may also like the unique curved body of the galaxy s. it is a show off point, but i don't know if that is important to you.

On the flipside, of course, the Galaxy Nexus is also the phone of choice if you're looking for custom ROMs It already acts as a Nexus (pun intended) and benchmark for developers, since it was the device to have supported ICS the longest. Plus, as the latest Nexus device (until later this year), and destined for official updates from google, one can expect dev interest to continue for quite some time.
better wait for xperia S .... or wait for mwc 2012, there will be alot new phone coming......
I will chose phone that can be giving ics update like xperia 2011 family

It depends how much money u can spend for this phone if i will have "some" cash i will buy phone with TI OMAP5 Cortex-A15 made in 28nm technology its 2 core processor but its much more better then tegra 3 and have good battery life with good performance.
All:
I own a Galaxy Nexus but am thinking about giving it to my wife and getting a Nexus S for myself. I know, most of you will probably think I'm crazy, but I just think 4" is the sweet spot for screens. 4.65", while nice, is just too big for me.
Anyways, I'm running Rascream + Trinity kernel (Der Kernel) on the Gnex and LOVE it. Is it as well-loved on the NS as it is on the Gnex? On the Gnex it is generally loved because it's an amazing combination of stability, speed, and battery life, and is not too bloated with tons of unnecessary features.
Does it generally have that same reputation on the NS?
Thanks for any feedback.

yup!
i use it on both my galaxy nexus and nexus s. i used it on the nexus s first. id even say that you will think that its your galaxy nexus you should check out the nexus s trinity kernel thread, its in the gsm development forum, since thats where its home is(just like the galaxy nexus). i bet, besides for benchmarks and a few games, you wont be able to tell a difference between the two.

thanks for the info. It will definitely be the first (and hopefully last) combo I flash.
Does the same trinity kernel toolkit app work for both or is there a different one for nexus s?

yup, works with every nexus that runs trinity. one app to control them all.
Would you get a Samsung Galaxy SII or the Galaxy Nexus, and why?

Galaxy Nexus for sure. It's newer and gets all the good Google updates, Samsung isn't known for being quick to update. I kind of wish I got a Gnex instead of my Evo LTE sometimes...
Wrong forum section but definitely GNex.

Nexus, for me the software is more important than the hardware and with the Nexus I'd be getting pure Android and quick updates, as opposed to something hacked together by Samsung which gets released if they feel like bothering.
Samsung Galaxy, the nexus is having too many quality issues.
Kinda funny though, I still want one but refuse to buy it until the forum discussions change from quality problems/workarounds to use problems/workarounds.
Nexus is newer but galaxy s2 is still getting plenty of love in development and updates, plus has additional sd storage capability so galaxy s2
