[App] Flip Over - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
I just create my first android app and already put it on market. This app can detect your flip action and turn your device into silent mode. I noticed that there are many same apps in the market, but I make it some differences:
1. After flip down, my app uses the camera preview to detect the light condition, if it is dark, I treat it as in the pocket or handbag and will not enter the silence mode
2. The app allows you to record the voice. It is good for capturing what the boss said but finally he forget.
3. It can also enable the proximity and light sensor, I cannot see this kind of feature in other app
I hope it is the most serious "flip" app, there is no graphic, since I directly inherit from PreferenceActivity. No eating the battery, the background service of the app just listen to the GavitySensor and a handler loop every 500ms.
Hope you can try and comment. And there is a Pro version with US$1, it can extend the voice recording, enable the camera shoot and phone call . Hope you enjoy.
You can just go to market and search by "flip over". Thanks.
MR.cAN'T.

How does the camera function work. If you flip your phone it would be stationary like left on a table so what would it capture?

Nice thinking but it needs more testing...
Good luck.

Flash and Video Recording on Vignette app

Hi guys,
Anyone that have the vignette app figure out how to use the flashlight on the phone and if possible to record video with it?
Thanks in Advance
The flash is easy enough in Vignette - there's a button on the screen where you can choose flash off, auto or on. But it's not "true flash", in that it just activates the light for a few seconds before taking the pic. Still better than nothing though, and certianly better than having to activate it through a menu.
However, switching to video mode just loads up the stock video app, so that will be just the same as it was before. It effectively kicks you out of Vignette so it's not ideal, but it's better than having to go through the process of loading the stock camera app yourself.
It doesn't detract from the fact that Vignette is a great camera app, capable of loads of effects and frames. It's definitely worth a purchase.

put here your best Tasker profile

One of my favorite is
Whatsapp lime Facebook chat or viber is open phone silence vibrate only and when the program is close phone normal
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Some of the profiles I use often are
Scheduled text message - Mainly for birthday wishes at 12 AM
Open Music player when headphones are inserted.
Data on when wifi is not connected and when I open apps which need data.
Use Proximity sensor to move to next photo when I open QuickPic or Gallery. This one is cool since you don't need to touch the screen. Just wave your hand and it will move to next photo.
When I open Map and not connected to WIFI, data on, Gps on, screen time out to 20 mins and increase screen brightness and time out.
When I press powerbutton during my sleeping time, say time.
And my fav one is
Shake left and right to toggle flashlight. Very handy since I've to use flashlight now and then and I don't have to search for a widget or setting. :good:

How'd you manage this one. I love QuickPic and this one sounds pretty awesome.
Context = App -> Quick pic + Event-> state-> sensor-> proximity
Task = Input->Dpad>right

Groovy. Didn't work so well with my Note II, but I'll try again after cleaning some smudges off the screen. Just tried your trick with the flashlight. I can see why it's your favorite. Awesome setup.

Device is stowed, camera issue.

I've got the Ultra running the latest OTA (had it installed when I bought the phone).
When using the camera I frequently get "Device is stowed" followed by something like "exiting camera." I find this occurs when I'm going to swipe to view the most recent picture taken by swiping from right to left. The camera app seems to have no traditional settings menu, I don't see a way to stop this. I'm assuming it should happen of I leave the phone on and "stow" it away on my pocket, but I happens on its own while in use.
Any ideas why this is happening and how I can stop it?
Aside from that, I'm surprised there's no photosphere option, and at how pixelated the photos are even in medium lit rooms. Pretty disappointing.

There is a proximity sensor on the opposite side of the camera. If you have your finger on it while visiting the gallery, it will exit the camera.
Please report this to Motorola! I spent a good amount of time diagnosing and reporting the problem this morning only to find out that they will only fix the issue if more people report it (well, that's essentially what they said).
These are all of the symptoms/instructions of the bug:
1. This bug ONLY happens when you shake to enter the camera. Opening the camera by tapping a camera icon OR entering the camera by swiping from right to left on your lockscreen widgets will not have this problem.
2. You MUST enter the camera at some point while the phone is off AND using the shake-to-activate feature. Once you shake to enter the camera while the device was off, it will happen at any time you shake-to-activate.
3. You MUST have a hand/finger on or near the proximity sensor on the opposite side of the front facing camera. This happens all the time when you are taking any landscape-styled photos.
So in other words, this is how you reproduce it:
1. Turn off your phone
2. Shake to activate the camera
3. Hold in landscape mode so that your fingers naturally rest on/near the proximity sensor
4. Swipe to gallery and swipe back to the camera
And there you go! "Device is stowed, exiting Camera..."
As I said, I'm quite p*ssed at Motorola for not having a bug reporting/fixing pipeline set up. Please call up Motorola's support and report this bug. I love their phones, but the camera was obviously given no love. This should have been an obvious problem while testing the usability of the camera.
If you don't want it to happen, hold the phone differently while taking pictures in landscape. Put your index finger and thumb on the top and bottom of the phone so that they aren't covering the proximity sensor.

Hi I have a moto x and was also curious about this "issue". I only noticed on the occasions you mentioned. Is it possible that this is a precaution so that your phone doesn't take pictures while in your pocket , being that it only happens when the proximity sensor is covered or semi covered.

[Q] Lost features in 23.3.24 ?

Hi,
I just updated my Droud Ultra and it looks like there are missing two features:
1. in the 21.xxx sw if I approached with my hand the proximity sensor the phone shows the time/missed events. Now if I want to see the clock I have to move / to jog the phone it is not enough to go close with my palm to proximity sensor
2. in the 21.xxxx when the phone was charging a stripe/band was going up and down -- now it is missing, too (
How could I enable this features or they are turned off ?
For the first one. Yes, waving the hand over the phone no longer wakes it up. According to one of the moderators on the Moto support forum, the ability to display notifications with a wave of the hand was a bug that Moto fixed. I know..... So there is no way to reactivate it 23.3.24. Sorry.

Also stock messaging app no longer allows you to open the address book and multi select recipients. Hangouts is the same.
I could slap whomever decided to do this!
Touchless controls actually goes to speakerphone now when making a call if you have the setting checked, it was broken in the last update and wouldn't actually go to speakerphone even though it was checked but worked before that one. I'm so glad it works now.

Proximity Sensor Location/Issues

Was trying to verify the Easy Mute motion (hand over screen or flip to mute calls or alarms), and it does not seem to work in either folded or unfolded configuration. I also tried running AndroSensor and that shows no change in sensor when I cover the top half of either screen. Anyone else having similar problems, or is it working as expected for them.

.
I just tried it myself and turning over the phone definitely muted the incoming call (with the phone open or closed) Also the palm gesture worked (cover screen only) but that was slightly more difficult as you really have to cover the whole screen for a couple of seconds.
I also used AndroSensor (and another app) and noted the proximity sensor was present but wasn't showing a reading. Obviously it is working (and works when holding phone to ear by turning screen off for example).
So I am not sure why it's not working for you.

Thanks for checking.
Did some more testing, the flip gesture seems to be working for incoming calls with the Google Phone app, and alarms created by the Samsung Clock app, but not the Google Clock app or Calendar notifications. Using the Google Phone app once the call is established, then the screen does turn off when held close to a head when folded. So seems like the sensor is working, in some situations, which means it is probably software related, rather a hardware defect. I really don't want have to reconfigure my setup up again.
The Google Phone app also has a setting flip to mute, which was not set. So I flipped that to true.
I had previously written a Tasker profile to mute everything (enter Do Not Disturb) on a Pixel 3XL, before Google implemented it at the OS level, so I may try that here.
Certainly seems like a conflict with the Google phone app. The gesture settings are OneUI features so they are unlikely to work with a different dialer.

I think the problem is that the Samsung implementation is to hook into a small subset of their applications to do a local mute, where as Google implementation just invoked Do Not Disturb, which meant every application would mute, assuming they are compliant. I think DND was slightly flakey on OS9, but from OS10 onwards it was rock steady.
To bring clarity to my local behaviour, I enabled my Tasker method that engaged DND when the phone is flipped. Works in both folded and unfolded configurations. As a bonus with Join, I have a method that automatically distributes DND to my other devices.
