[Q] problem after ace hack kit accessing networks

I am having some bizarre problems after running the ace hack kit to root my Inspire HD. Basically after running step 3 3 S-OFF, SuperCID and More
I cant get access to internet, ie browser, google network etc.
Phone works, sound is ok.
I tried to restore to stock and redo. but I've gone through this loop a few times. and now I'm stuck in no-mans land. cant get completely back to stock and cant get to a full root.
problem originated the first time through when I did not uninstall the HTC sync - I didnt realize it was running as I only installed for the driver.
Then when repeating, I got an incoming call during the process. I think this disrupted the script.
Any ideas

It might be because you are still on the downgraded rom and radio...which if you stopped after step 3, then you probably are

It's a rooted stock rom with all the updates, should get everything up and running...then from there you can flash a custom rom if you prefer....

I'm actually kinda stuck between the two. not rooted so I cant run clockwork to flash, but not stock so the root script doesnt run clean.

Well that rom can't be flashed using clockwork.....you have to flash that one through hboot....
So if you boot into hboot at the very top it should say whether you are s-off or s-on...if your s-off you are good to go...
If you dont know how to get to hboot...its easy...
-turn off fast boot
-shut down phone
-turn on phone by holding down the power button and volume minus button at the same time, and hold it till the hboot screen loads..then release.

I take it that the rom.zip has to be on the sd card. doest the SD card need to be formatted in a specific way?
does the rom file need to be named anything specific?

Instead of answering each specific question..I'll just post the steps, which should answer all your questions....
-Download the rom, (I would suggest the one that allows for side loading, but either is fine)
-rename the zip to....PD98IMG.zip (it has to be named exactly that)
-place it on the root of your SD card (meaning not inside of any folders)
-unplug you phone from your computer
-boot into Hboot....when you get there, dont press anything, just wait...it will automatically locate the zip....the first 2 attempts will fail, then the 3rd one will work....it will then ask you if you would like to update
-push volume up to update
EDIT: no need to format the sd card and when flashing a PD98IMG.zip, you never go into recovery....
EDIT2: once you get this flashed, you can then then download rom manager from the market, and flash clockwork recovery....which will allow you to flash any of the other custom roms using recovery....

If you're S-OFF, then you don't need anything special with teh SDCard (gold card not needed with S-OFF). Just rename the file PD98IMG.ZIP and be sure it is in the root of the SDCard. Don't worry too much; this method is more foolproof than others as the HBOOT does sanity checks on the image files in the zip and won't flash anything but the correct image to the correct partition.

-my previous experience was rooting a nookcolor, which was a whole different process, since the SD has boot priority.

i recently loaded my triumph with cherry mobiles magnum hd gingerbread software. the phone works great but is there a way i can get the radio to work.. by radio i mean the calling radio like not the fm radio but the actual radio to work? it seems like the software i loaded is for a gsm phone because it lists an imei number?? btw the hotspot activates flawlessly on gingerbread..the built in fm radio does not work it only picks up static..but other than not being able to connect to a cell tower it works just fine...will be uploading pics soon... is there a cdma gingerbread that i can install because im really sure cherry mobile magnum hd is a gsm phone because the phone is asking for a sim card?? but the o.s works beautifully on the triumph..

No information on radio, but there is no FM radio chip built into the triumph.

link? it's a fully functional gb rom?

yes it is somewhat functional everything else seems to work except the cell phone cdma radio and the fm radio (no hardware support aka not installed) so you can use the wifi to do stuff and both ffc and rear camera work.. at first my phone would just cycle boot ( keep restarting) so i just formated the memory and the cache in the menu where u hold down all buttons.. i just unzipped the file and put it in the sd card and renamed it (i forgot but it says when you try to load it on the phone)..

From what i remember the cherry is a GSM phone meaning the radio is not going to work on the triumph. Since we all know virgin is CDMA.

i wanted to see if i could atleast get gingerbread on it.. after 8 posts i will post pics of the phone and the link to install.i am trying to see how far i can take the phone.. .. the phone was rooted when it had froyo but i dont think that affects the all buttons pressed down menu... i will run some benchmark tests tomorrow... is there any gingerbread roms that are for x6 phone roms that are cdma that i could try to install??

That may be just a library difference.... and easily grafted back in and fixed!

MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS ALMOST OR FULLY CHARGED BEFORE BEGINNING
1.DOWNLOAD THE FIRMWARE FROM:

FWIW, CM7 is basically a vanilla GB ROM.
To the OP:
Are you able to flash back to the original ROM? I'm hesitant to flash it as I don't know what the nb0 file contains. It might change partitions on the phone that I don't want it changing.
I'd like to extract the nb0 file to see what's in it. I don't know how it's done on Linux. However, if you can give me a nandroid backup of the GB ROM, I can extract the system and boot images.

i have found a few stock roms but haven't installed them because i use my other triumph to download them and trying to download 71.6mbs with sprints 3g is not so easy but i will start downloading and give it a try...also i have not done anything else to the phone except root it (when it had stock rom on it) but now i dont think that matters... what is the menu called when you hold down all the buttons i keep forgeting the name? i think there is a custom one but i haven't installed it yet... is a nandroid backup when i go in download mode and copy files? specifically what files? thank you
i will try and set the phone back to stock.. and try the cherry mobile gingerbread rom to see if it works

Once you've accomplished that, make sure the GB ROM is still installed and run a nandroid backup. Upload the system.img and boot.img files.

[Q] HELP sensation flashed ROM wont start

Hello, first I would like to apologize as I am clearly a noob and have very little idea of what I am talking about.
I'm sure my problem has been asked before and that if I had any idea what the problem was, I could find the exact solution I need here on the forums. Unfortunately I don't even know what to search for. If any one would like to complain go ahead but please..just help me.
So I decided to root my HTC Sensation, which I believe I did without any problem, I followed the guide on this site. Nothing went wrong and as far as I was aware everything was working fine.
I then decided to flash a new ROM onto the phone. I chose the Android Revolution HD as this looked to be the popular choice. I got it from here and I believed I had followed the instructions on how to install it properly.
However, after installing the ROM I came upon a problem, the phone would not start, it would just go to the HTC boot screen and stay there forever. At first I couldn't even get back to the hboot screen, but after inserting a new and better charged battery I was able to get there, but every time I do it attempts to update and says " CID incorrect! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot." and I cant do anything but get stuck in this continuous loop.
If I take the SD card out I can access the HBOOT properly, however trying to do a recovery at this point doesn't seem to work.
I have no idea what to do and would appreciate any help anyone can give me. I would be happy to just have my phone back to the way it was originally.

First off your MAJOR issue is that you flashed a rom for the Desire HD section(As soon as I clicked on your link, it said Android Revolution 7.0.2... I was like wtf? There is no 7.0.2 on the sensation forum) ... I think that's the prob... for now! Flash the correct rom and stay in the right section!
Second, I don't see why you can't get into recovery. Remove your sd card, power on the phone by holding vol-down +power to get to bootloader, select recovery and flash the right rom. I would also recommend that you delete the P58IMG.zip off your sd card as well. I'm assuming you have it on there for the ICS firmware but flashed the incorrect rom. You are far from bricking it, but keep this up and it might turn into one!

Anyway what Im thinking I have to do now is 1st delete p58img.zip file from my SDcard and put the right rom on there, could you link to one?
So by removing that file I should be able to access the SDcard again and flash the new rom?

This is an ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Rom
So you need:
1) SuperCID (so that you can flash any firmware)
Instructions
2) Flash the ICS firmware (otherwise you can't use the ICS roms)

4) Flash the 4EXT recovery, I'm sure you already have clockwork mod on there but I think that's a bit buggier... so if I were you, I'd go for the 4EXT touch recovery

6) you're good to go! It's that easy.
Yeah, all you have to do is remove that P58IMG.zip from your sd card and your bootloader won't force you to update or w/e. You'll be fine.

And don't forget to md5 check for roms you download !

What does it do?

So I need to download that exe. Backup my current trickdroid set up. Then just run the exe let it upgrade everything back to stock but the radio will be upgraded. I then just boot into Cwm and reinstall trickdroid?

If you need to change your CID
Make a nandroid backup from cwm
Relock bootloader
Connect your phone to pc and start the ruu exe (follow the wizard)
Unlock bootloader (if you changed CID you have to get another unlock_code from htcdev)
Flash cwm
Restore nandroid backup
Reboot
Done!
If you get a bootloop after restoring the nandroid flash boot.img through fastboot.
Btw next time search aorund the forums, you could figure it out yourself

But its not actually that clear to beginners on what to do.
If its only wifi fixes im not sure if its worth the risk, i thought it may improve reception or battery life etc?

Haven't seen any official patch notes actually so unsure what it does. If you're going to do stuff before being sure what you're doing or at least understanding exactly how, make sure you backup important stuff like photos on your computer first. 99% of flashing screw-ups can be fixed with the assistance of the awesome nerds here but you'll be at the mercy of unknown unpaid strangers good will. Failure is always an option

well ive flashed it but im having trouble getting cwm back on it so i can then root it or once ive got cwm on it will my rom backup auto unroot it again?##
Answers to my own questions............
In the end i used htc one s all in one tool kit and kept trying to flash cwm without success. I tryed to install it via fastboot and that failed as well. In the end the only that worked was the interim cwm included in the tool kit once that was installed i then installed my backup rom which seems to have re rooted the phone and then used rom manager to flash cwm properly

it was suppose to help wifi issues, i believe, would have to re-read on it. sure there are other improvements
thing is, it gives different results for each person, I am not sure it helped me at all, as my issues were, i believe, rom/kernel related
also, with the current setup you have and if you are on an hboot older than .13, like 06 or 09 you could have just flashed radio thru fastboot
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot reboot
Just fyi for next time as radio is rom independent, but done wrong is quickest way to brick phone

hence why i wanted to be doubly sure and started my own thread and not brick my phone.

I have a Mytouch 4G Slide With a HBOOT ver 1.45.0013
I Unlocked Using HTCDev <- that worked = Bootloader Unlocked
Then i Flashed Clockwork Recovery Img 5.0.2.7 = cool that worked for me (familiar with it cause i had it on my evo 4g)
cwm loads up and my phone booted up normally
then i flashed over a su.zip and i had ROOT i fogot wat one it was exactly but watever
I even installed titanium to do a test run to see if the actual root request was accepted and it worked as well
I tried to flash some roms from
androidevolved. forumsmytouch-4g-slide-root-roms-kernels-development 490-htc-mytouch-4g-slide-roms
needless to say after that ive been stuck on the mytouch splash screen for the past 3 days ive been picking at it researching but IDK wat the hell im doing wrong

i was only trying to flash cause the kernal and software that i had did have a few minor glitches like random shutdowns when running apps sometimes that was all i was trying to resolve so i am open to try just about anything that would get me back to stock or even on a custom rom IDC just someone please help me if you neeed further detail please

You are s on, so you need to flash the kernel with fastboot when you flash a rom, fastboot flash boot boot.img

if your s-on have you ever gone to bootloader mode then place your phone into fastboot mode (highlight bootloader then press power button)
on your computer install the htc mytouch 4g slide fastboot drivers than
go to start run or on win 7 just search for cmd
then google out downloading an ADB folder and place it on your c: drive
then on cmd type cd\adb then it should look like this C:\adb>
then on whatever rom your getting extract it to a seprate folder then grab the boot.img file
then place it somewhere like your desktop then your gonna type on cmd
C:\abd>fastboot flash "C:\user\"name of user you have the file in"\desktop\boot.img"
then place the rom you got the boot.img from THE ROM UNEXTRACTED to your sd card then just reboot to recovery then flash the only rom and you should be good

Thank you to both crimedave1987 and demkantor for this explanation!! I was having the same problem as the OP. This was the first time I ever tried rooting and flashing my phone, and trying to figure out what my limitations are with the 1.45.0013 HBOOT has been a bit confusing.
But thanks to you guys, I'm finally up and running a ROM instead of just staring at the stock splash screen!

thank you for the help, so as i read all i have to do i flash the boot.img file using fastboot and have the same unexracted rom where i get the boot.img from copied to my sd card, then goto cwm and flash the rom and thats all?? hope this is acurate, and ur welcome for the answers for anyone who has had the same problem, glad u have your phone back on and running, u just need to ask the right questions LOL - Adam

I have a Mytouch 4G Slide With a HBOOT ver 1.45.0013
I Unlocked Using HTCDev <- that worked = Bootloader Unlocked
Then i Flashed Clockwork Recovery Img 5.0.2.7 = cool that worked for me (familiar with it cause i had it on my evo 4g)
cwm loads up and my phone booted up normally
then i flashed over a su.zip and i had ROOT i fogot wat one it was exactly but watever
I even installed titanium to do a test run to see if the actual root request was accepted and it worked as well
I tried to flash some roms from
androidevolved. forumsmytouch-4g-slide-root-roms-kernels-development 490-htc-mytouch-4g-slide-roms
needless to say after that ive been stuck on the mytouch splash screen for the past 3 days ive been picking at it researching but IDK wat the hell im doing wrong

now for the reason im stuck
i was only trying to flash cause the kernal and software that i had did have a few minor glitches like random shutdowns when running apps sometimes that was all i was trying to resolve so i am open to try just about anything that would get me back to stock or even on a custom rom IDC just someone please help me if you neeed further detail please

P.S. i can access Fastboot and adb, and CWM, and hboot all working fine so maybe im doing the wrong process in formatting my phone and as well as using the wrong PG zip (OBVIOUSLY) lol cause every rom or persons seems to be having different ways of formatting there phone/sdcard , im not illiterate i have flashed my evo 4g so wat gives

mytouch 4g slide rom flash / install easy step by step
LMAO OMG Thank you guys!! i missed that simple step had all the tools and i am very appreciative for the help guys
So FYI , the final stages after
HTC Dev unlocks boot loader
install cwm 5.0.2.7
extract your boot.img from your rom zip eg. cm9
goto fastboot mode in your hboot menu
then flash the boot.img with fastboot "fastboot flash boot boot.img" easy command if you place the boot.img in the same folder as your fastboot.exe
choose reboot into recovery from hboot after boot.img is flashed
push your rom with adb if you do not have a sdcard reader on your pc or lap or simply copy it over with your sdcard reader
if you get any error about device not found u must mount your sd card in your cwm options before this command will work
"adb push cm9.zip /sdcard"
then choose install zip with cwm
you should already know how to do the last step
thanks to all that has helped me im sooo excite i can now try out different roms now that i got the step
please follow the above it is how i achieved my custom rom installed HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL!!!! XDA ROCKS!

(cm9,cm7,bulletproof)rom.zip -----> sd-card
(whatever rom your flashing)extract grab boot.img and place it on your desktop
DL adb folder place it on C: drive
go to cmd.exe
(ON CMD)
example:
C:\Users\CricketUser>
then type cd\adb
then should look like this
C:\adb>
(I HOPE YOUR HBOOT UNLOCKED)
then power your phone down completely and press (vol -) and (power) and should take you to hboot
press power to select and up and down vols to scroll highlight to fastboot and press the power
(OH AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HTC ADB DRIVERS INSTALLED) then on cmd type this...
C:\adb>fastboot flashboot C:\Users\CricketUser\Desktop\boot.img (DRAG BOOT.IMG FROM DESKTOP AFTER TYPING FASTBOOT FLASHBOOT) hit enter then type
C:\adb>fastboot reboot recovery (I HOPE YOU HAVE CWM RECOVERY FLASHED)
then unplug your phone on cwm go to install rom from sd card and the one and only rom you got on your sd card install it then when done reboot your phone and your good to go i hope thats enough detail

Ty for the advice as I have already flashed my ROM I was asking generally wat is the best rom for the mt4gs and when and where can I read when jelly bam 6 will work for my phone BTW right now I am running jellybam 4.0 and I love it

all roms are good for the test but having perfect battery and camera for stable use ill go for the stock lite rom...
but i love the G2 i just wish there was a "perfect GB and hopefully JB someday in the future" im a stick to stock lite untill they find an extreme stable all working JB

I believe i am temp rooted atm i have custom jellybam 4.0 rom which includes 4 in one roms
everything seems pretty gud so far but i am getting no network bars at all
i have set and checked my apn and still no dice
if i try to make a call it says no mobile network
and my gps isnt able to find me at all even while i am connected on "wifi" connection which im surprised still works
so my what i am trying to fix is getting my tmobile network back up and as well as my gps
idk if its a rom flaw but i dont have any back up of anything cause ive tried flashing so many times and formatted my sdcard so many times i was bound to lose everything eventually after trying to figure out how to install custom roms on this MT4GS now that i have it installed i have no signal wat so ever i even have no phone number listed in my about phone setting plz help and give me any advice u may have or know thank you so very much hope we can get this back up and running 100%

clear dalvik cache and fix permissions (IF POSSIBLE) cause your still s-on or if that doesnt work ..... do a reflash of the rom

So I have done the clearing of the dalvik cache and also reset the permissions no no dice
thank you for your help i am going to next option you suggested
Moving forward... going to reinstall a go later on today I'm off today yay!, and I will repost the results after. Side note: going to also make a list of all my apps so I can full wipe as I have read a dirty install could be possible reason for no GPS n no network service , and not to mention to also let the phone sit for 5 minutes to stabilize but, when is that supposed to happen?? after the ROM install in cwm or after the boot.img flash in adb? Thanks for the help once again ... n from the OP mentioned it doesn't take all the time , is that referring to the boot.img not taking or is it the ROM not taking I just curious as how these things work thanks crimedave !

ohh my goodness! this is a job for Crimedave to the rescue plz help just redid my whole phone completly wiped and formatted everything did 3 complete wipes n waited the 5 minutes through serverall of the steps of flashing just to be sure i wasnt rushing the process, and still im without gps and service bars idk wat the heck to do maybe just go for another rom? but im sure this rom is supposed to work "Jellybam" i will try cyanogen mod 9 later on tonight when i get back home unless you could do some digging ive exhausted all my resources for troubleshooting this issue any advice would be appreciative TYSVM for your time and all you have help this far -Adam

So did you wipe everything, flash ROM via recovery, then flash kernel via fastboot?
If these weren't you're steps then go back and do it again, if they were just flash a gingerbread ROM for now and make sure all is working there

....and no matter how it may sound in the instructions, always....ALWAYS....flash your boot.img LAST.
BTW....the 5 minutes rest they have been talking about is 5 minutes after your ROM boots up. Just let it lay there then pick it up and you're OFF............

okay here we go again btw thank you demkantor and thank you weekendsr2short for the advice but still no dice at all, so i been searching google and xda forum for a stock rom but there are so many post out there idk which one works i have tried two versions of the stock rom from stock shipped roms and they came back wrong image file

trying to figure out wat i need and how to persay get back to stock im totally lost on that blues thread
so anyhow you have all my info except im not on a rom anymore atm going back to some sorta rom to atleast boot into someting
so i can use my phone
never thought i would have to go back to stock to check my phones service to see if it works or not
i tried cyanogenmod9 booted up fine and everything gapps worked but no gps still wondering if i have to do junoputebear wire trick to get my gps on and from wat ive read and see on youtube about gps fixes how they use the terminal to rewrite dev blocks wonder if i should try that route but just a little something i notice when im doing a data factory wipe i get msg in the formatting progress that says mak_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 maybe thats whats wrong wit my pos phone
if you have any more ideas please let me know all im trying to achieve is getting my gps and service back on with new rom software (stock or custom) IDC i was just trying to fix random reboot every now and then resets , if i gotta use my phone under wifi i have to but if everything else works there HAS TO BE A FIX SOMEHOW! uuuuuhhhg im so dissapointed in myself cause im usually good at figuring this stuff out till tomarrow hope i get some new ideas thanks xda

There is a glimmer of hope I have my GPS after tested in copilot app and another GPS app as well but still no service bars at all
The way I understand it is radio should have been protected with my s-on cause I'm not s-off so how could have I lost it idk of I find a solution I will post till then any suggestions would be appreciated ty

It's been a while but as I remember it, you can't flash those images with an Unlocked phone. If your radio got messed up somehow you need to relock your bootloader before you reflash the original or higher image than your phone came with.
If you'll go to ADB and issue the cmd, "adb oem lock", that will set you ready to reflash the .img file. If the image file is in your SD card root, just "adb reboot bootloader" ...and you're off. You'll have to unlock again but you'll have a fresh new phone to start over on.
