Noob here! I'm using QuikWiz 1.0.3, which is the first rom I've used that let me disable the lockscreen. My question is, does disabling the lockscreen cause the phone to use just as much power as if the lockscreen were NOT disabled? Do both make the phone enter the same low-power state or is the phone slightly more awake when the lockscreen is disabled? I'm obviously asking this because I'm concerned about battery life.
Thanks!

The lock screen should not have an effect on the power. Not from previous Experiances anyway.

I had to stop using Locale because it was using 92% of my battery....tried to use Auto Settings (love the idea of it) but that was using 85% of it....is there any out there that will not drain my battery?
BTW when I say Orientation I mean face down will be vibrate and face up normal or something like that.
Thanks guys
Use a toggle widget? They take half a second to switch from vibrate to normal.

That's not a bad idea. I suppose any app that will have to use the Acc. will cause a serious battery drain. That's unfortunate because Auto Settings is very useful.
I think that settings profile advertised that it has a widget that goes along with it?

If you are going by battery statistics from system settings menu under "about phone", then those percents are not necessarily accurate. You need to look at the actual usage of those apps from something like System Monitor. The problem with the built in battery stats is that while it reports a high percent, the app actually only pings usage very minimally for a short burst. It uses little to none overhead, yet the battery screen reports it as constantly running.
I had this issue with Screebl, but System Monitor show that it uses very little of anything.

Hey guys, from what i've been reading it seems that the lockscreen kills the battery, what i would like to know is how to shut this off, and other things i can do to improve my battery life. Right now im using the Thunder and Lightning Rom Build 1. Thanks in Advance!
Menu > Settings > Security > Change Screen Lock > {Enter pattern/pin/password} > None
No Lock from the market works great. You can even wake your phone with the volume rocker.
But wouldn't an app running drain just as much battery?
Which lock screen are you talking about? The default one that makes you pull down to unlock all the time, whether you have a pin or not? How is it draining battery?
What I find annoying is that even if I set a pin code on my phone, I first have to go through that initial Sense lock screen pulldown to bring up the pin entry. Only 'droid phone I have that acts like that.
I dont think its draining battery
i removed HtcLockScreen.apk and i'm using the stock android lock screen now. I see no difference in battery consumption.
from what I understand people are seeing the battery drain when using the pattern/pin/etc. unlocks.

I use the pattern and my battery life is pretty good, matches up with my Droid X as far as I'm concerned. Usually 50%+ when I go to bed at midnight and I pull it off the charger around 8AM.
Hi,
I flash every ICS Rom until now, Im on Superlite 4.2 right now (which is perfect - IMO) but I just notice that the phone wake up and turn LCD on if I hit the volume button (normally accidentaly) which cause my battery to die much faster.
Is this a bug or is just how ICS is???
Could you tell me is this issue present in your current Rom??
Thank you for your help

Its not a bug, thats the way ICS works. ICS actually drains your battery quicker than any other rom out there.

I'm running the same rom and volume buttons don't wake for me.
And I've had great battery life, much better on ICS...

its not a bug. if u use 15 toggle mod and have lockscreen disabled, ot have it disabled normally, then the phone will wake on volume press. Its actually a good feature, prevents premature powr button wear.
Like any other rom, ics requires at least two power cycles before u can judge battery life. My worst drain on certain roms (10% per hour at idle, no sync at all), turned out to bebthe best after a few cycles. On tpx i was getting 1% every 1 hour 45 min, which insane. Give it a few days to settle

I have been changing settings in 15 toggle for about 30min, I can't change it. No matter what I do, the phone keeps waking up with volume buttons. Could you give me some light - what im doing wrong?
try a fix perm in cwm. When i disable lockscreen with toggle it allows me to wake with volume. If u want to DISABLE this feature, use settings > security > screen lock, and have it set to swype or pattern or anything else, and have lock automatically set to immediately
Anyone know app or widget to fast switch android 5.0 power saver mode?
It should be useful to get extra battery life.
+1
I would like to get something like that as well

This may or may not be helpful but nova launcher users can create a shortcut on the home screen > activities > settings > battery saver - which will take you directly to the battery saver menu. Not ideal but may save a couple of clicks.
That's what I use now, but I still fancy direct switch.

U can set the governors too. Or does it do more also?

From Android Police: "When you activate this mode, the screen brightness is reduced, animations are turned off, background data is (mostly) disabled, and vibration is off. "
From Android Central: "To help improve battery life, battery saver reduces your device's performance and limits vibration and most background data. Email, messaging and other apps that rely on syncing may not update unless you open them."
I found the best way of doing this with a combination of Zooper pro, Tasker, AutoInput and AutoShortcut. Works pretty well the only problem is it cant trigger on screen off. AutoInput needs to have the screen on to run but still i made a widget with Zooper and with a simple tap on the battery icon on it the phone goes into battery saving mode, goes home, locks the device which in turn triggers greenify to run and hibernate any apps listed. I'm pretty happy with this for now.

Hi and sorry for responding to an old thread
It seems like you did not find such an app, but I have developed exactly what you are looking for. The shortcut is free, the pro version also has screen triggers. There's a dedicated xda thread over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-battery-saver-lollipop-shortcuts-t3036774
Hope this helps despite the age of the thread
May be this will help you check this first - https://ixwallet.org/saver-switch-pro-review/
I finally found an app that allows double tap to wake without root! Now you can keep your power and home buttons from getting all gunked up. See the attachment for the APK. According to the website below, this used to be available in the Play Store. I guess it was removed because Google doesn't like to allow apps to wake the screen?
http://www.gammerson.com/2015/06/how-to-enable-double-tap-wake-up-in-android-device.html
Edit: Warning - app seems to use a lot of battery when screen is off
Thanks, but curious if this will be a battery drainer with wakelocks ?

I'm not sure how much it affects battery since I just found the app today. I noticed in the battery stats that the screen on time continues to increase even though the screen is off.
The app keeps the screen on so that will increase battery drainage.
Why don't you give Gravity Screen a try ?
It's one of the reasons to own an Android....

Why does it drain the battery? The screen appears to be completely off. I looked at the screen with a flashlight and couldn't see any pixels on. Is it preventing the phone from entering a low CPU use sleep state?

If it's keeping the screen on, but only displaying "total blackness", then any AMOLED display (such as on our Note 5 devices) will APPEAR to be completely off (as none of the pixels are illuminated) even if the display is still "alive." If the screen is alive, then the device isn't going into suspend (sleep), so it would destroy idle battery life. Instead of only dropping 1% (or less) of battery charge an hour, you'd start dropping 7-10% an hour.

The reason it uses a lot of battery is because it uses the proximity sensor
and it keeps it enabled all the time.
Same holds true for any of the double tap screen-on apps at the playstore.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Unfortunate that you can't set a duration for it to remain active after the screen has gone off (e.g. 10 seconds, to use when the screen unintentionally turns off) so that it doesn't continue to drain battery. Anyone know of a non-root way to disable it after a given duration or another app that can perform this function?

Knockon Jawomo is great , why not LCD though?.. I want a double tap to wake simple one no adds! Must be a decent tap to wake out there for LCD
