Two problems I could use some help on - Motorola Atrix 2

Hey there, I just moved over to the ATRIX 2 from the Samsung Captivate and am very pleased. I am having two minor problems though, the first being that when I go to Add Account in the settings, I try to add my Facebook account, but when I tap the Facebook icon, it acts like its pulling something up, and closes and goes back to the list. The second problem I'm having is that I keep getting a force close message on "com.motorola.service.main." Is there anything I can do to fix these? I purchased the phone off eBay new in box.
Thanks in advance for your help!

well... you may wanna try a factory restore, go to settings/privacy, then erase everything. sometimes that clears things up

App dock open and close repeating...multiple

All of a sudden my Captivate is opening and closing my app drawer multiple times, and the phone vibrates as of I am hitting the button to do this.
I am on Cognition 2.16.
I have read that multiple vibes means that FVs are happening, but with the app drawer opening and closing like that, I'm not sure that is the case here.
Any ideas? Of something is FCing, is thee some log I can check?
I'm afraid I may need to do a completely fresh re-load.
Not sure if this is related, but when i first got a captivate the home button was hitting itself and you could see the home button dimming as if it was pressed.
All apps would close themselves, since the home button was being pressed.
Related? I am unsure, but the vibrates are suspect.

Whatever is going on with this thing it is killing me.I'm out of town now, but when I get back, I guess I'll have to try a complete refresh, with a master clear. Doesn't seen anyone has any input, do this must not be a very prevelent problem.
If anyone is paying attention to this little saga ....
I think I need to exchange my phone. I have flasted back to stock build (stock even before the 'fix' that they sent out)...and I just experieneced it do some of the wierd stuff.
I think I'll finish applying 2.17 Cognition, just for kicks...but expect it to still be problematic, and will likely return it tomorrow for a new one.
By the way, I'll add: it was generally acting like it was entering various random keys. Most often, like it was hitting the BACK key. But then it would possibly back through several things, such as opening the APPS, then closing, then reopening.
I could be in XDA app, reading a post, and all of a sudden it would back out.
Really strange.
My second unit did the exact same thing (my first unit had borked wifi). Oddly enough, mine didn't do it either until I flashed my first ROM onto it, but then again that only took five minutes from when I first opened the box. A flash back to stock didn't help. I had to exchange my unit, and have had no problems since. If you're even close to your thirty day window, run, don't walk, back to the store.

[Q] Account setup periodically appears when hitting back key

I just picked up my WiFi Xoom last night and am loving it so far.
One thing that is annoying though is that sometimes when I hit the back button in the bottom left I'll be taken to the HC account setup screen where they ask if I want to setup my Google account or skip.
I already set up my account when I first booted.
If I hit next, it will prompt me to re-enter my Google account name and password. I haven't tried clicking skip.
I typically just hit the recent app drawer or the home button to exit this.
This happens usually when I'm browsing settings, or after browsing settings and have moved onto another application and am trying to traverse backwards though my activities.
Anyone else encounter this and resolved it?
I had this happen to me as well. I just fully powered down the device and restarted it and everything was fine from there.
Not sure what caused it, but that fixed it for me. Hope it works for you too.

I'll try that when I get home.
Thanks!
Rebooting fixed the issue.
Thanks!
I also had that exact same Issue when I used it for the first time... Rebooted and never happen again.
Yep... Picked it up from Future shop on Friday, happened the same to me, after a restart it has never showed up again.
Glad the Xoom finally made it to Canada!
This is because most android apps keep a history state for when back key is pressed. Sometimes you could be going back for ages.
Just reboot and the history is gone.

[Q] Anyone else's phone freezing?

Does anyone's phone just freeze for a while? Thanks.
are you on a stock rom or a custom? try long pressing the home button, selecting task manager from the bottom, then select the ram tab and clear memory there... this may help if that freezing happens after you have had a few apps open and havent closed out of them...

I have heard some other folks having this issue recently (via reviews on the T-Mo site) which I can only attribute to some update for a T-Mo bloat app breaking something. It happens.
Have you kept your apps updated? If so, you may want to check if a factory restore will fix the issue - just don't forget to backup your messages, etc. and sync calendar, contacts, etc first so the restore process is less painful.

[Q] Wierd Errors Since JB OTA

Installed JB OTA a day or two ago - since then I've been getting odd errors that display on the screen. Looks almost like adware or something. I have add-ons detector - it's not showing anything. I can't think of any new apps I've installed. When typing text messages using SWYPE in Handcent I got a weird error yesterday, something along the lines of please wait while we get the application ready for you to use (this appeared mid swype) no button to acknowledge or perform any action. About ten seconds later message disappeared and everything seemed normal. I didn't think much of it but it seemed a little like an adware type thing - never seen anything like that on android (complete with spinning circle to indicate "loading/working".) Today, I pull my phone out of my pocket and there's an error displayed - red triangle with a white exclamation point in it, error 1002. There was a close button - I tried to palm swipe to screen capture which unfortunately just clicked the close option. Anyone seen anything like this? It doesn't look like anything native Android. Just a little concerned that I've got something going on virus/adwise. Any feedback or suggestions greatly appreciated. All stock except I was rooted prior to OTA - I'm assuming I've lost root at this point but I haven't bothered to investigate or tried to re-root or anything as of yet. Ideas? Thanks in advance!
I think that's the verizon login service or similar. I've seen it popup randomly as well. Mostly when device out of range or all data off. If you're getting with data on try going to my verizon app and make sure you can logon ok and should go away for the most part. Just more bloatware fun I think.

Yeah I think you're right. I have poor reception in my office and I just got two more - error codes 1001 and 1002 both with an 800 number that connects to Verizon so I guess they're legit but annoying. I guess it's time for some tweaking.
Thanks for the help!

Download won't stop

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know what to do? For the last hour this notification in my drop down shows "Facebook (build 141046)" but it doesn't appear to actually be downloading and it won't go away. It's not the app installing an update (or doesn't appear to be). I've "force stopped" it and restarted my phone but it comes right back. Very frustrating.

On a Rogers/AT&T S3 with CM10. I'm seeing the same bug. I've tried uninstalling facebook, reboot, and a clear data on the play store. No luck getting it to go away yet.

Try turning on wifi and connect to a wifi spot it worked for me. no idea what it was but its gone now.
Going to copy my message that I just posted over on android central I was headed here to ask if anyone had anymore info.
"I had this issue as well. Turning on wifi seemed to complete the download and I was prompted to install this new build. Apparently one of the new features as shown in the screencaps above is downloading via wifi. But it looks like the with this build the facebook app will be able to download files without any notification. So basically just like this build began without any action on my part in the future the same will happen only I won't even get an notification. I've looked around for a bit more information and haven't come up with anything. This 'update' seems to be standalone from the actual app, no ability to update from the play store and opening the facebook app doesn't trigger the update screen. so i'm declining to install this for now.
one of the tips on the AC forum to get rid of the notification was to hold the notification and press app info and then force stop download manager, the same with simply force stoping the download manager app if you version doesn't allow for the press and hold. The notifcation apparently comes back later.
Also worth noting this is happening on my Galaxy Nexus running on T-mobile

After some mucking around, this appears to have worked (so far). I also did a clear data on the download manager and play store.
I just long press it, app info, and just clear data. That fixed for me.
Thanks for the responses. I was able to connect to wi-fi at Subway during lunch and immediately it went away. As usual, quick responses from XDA folks and problem solved!

Does anyone know what caused this? It freaked me out at first, but I was glad to find others running into the same problem.
I just went to Downloads and deleted the download.

That worked on my stock Incredible 4G. App drawer> Downloads> check the Facebook download and tap the trash can.
Thanks for the info. Worked for me after four hours of "downloading". It was driving me crazy plus it ate up quite a bit of battery.
Thanks

My gut says that this may well be the source of the issue:
seattletimes.com/html/businesstechnology/2020547460_apusnetflixfacebook.html?prmid=4748
Seems weird that it wouldn't simply push as an app update through the Play Store though.
