Does anyone know of a simple way of getting a Welsh keyboard driver or an app that will let me have accents as dead keys (needing a following keystroke to become effective)? I need, for example ŵ, ŷ, ï, as well as á.

Hi,
I'm about to order an Xperia X10, but i really hate using software keyboards (QWERTY).
Is there any way i can install/replace the QWERTY keyboard with a T9-keypad type input method like the one on my HTC Touch HD?
cheers in advance
Better Keyboard has a compact qwerty, and i`m pretty sure a T9 style as well. You might want to check out the leaked WVGA HTC_IME, it is considered by many to be the best soft keyboard available on android.
i found the HTC IME, it looks great. I havent recieved my phone yet, i'm wondering if its as easy to replace the IME on android as it is on Windows Mobile. I.E. will it feel hacked on or "native"? thanks
Changing input methods is supported natively.
Hiya
Firstly, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere - I searched and used the related threads that the thread starter suggestion thingy returned but nothing *totally* relevant to what I'm looking for.
I'm running the Froyo 2.2 with Sense Android rom on my HD2. Absolutely stunning albeit sliiiiiightly buggy and the battery dies within 24hours of moderate use. It addresses all my gripes with Winmo. My main issue was the keyboard. With the directional buttons on screen, the rest of the buttons have been squashed and with my ogre fingers it was a nightmare to type.
The k/b on the Android rom is fantastic. Now I thought that this was the stock keyboard on all Android phones running Froyo 2.2. Then I saw a video of the Desire HD which is what I want to get and sell my HD2 for. But I saw a video of the keyboard and it also has the directional keys on screen.
Is there a reg entry to hide the directional keys or do I have to find an alternate keyboard?
Thanks all.
RE: Android Keyboards on HTC devices
the best way is to find an alternate keyboard like "better keyboard"
I recommend Smart Keyboard Pro. There is a trial version for free in the market. It just features a small nag screen
I want to know how I can rip the Xperia Arc keyboard and adapt it to ICS. I'm an experienced Windows programmer but never Android...please help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Vibrant running ICS. I came from CM7 and that had a very nice Arabic font, and keyboard as well. ICS' default Arabic keyboard is plain silly, if you ask me.
I bought my mother an Xperia Arc for my birthday (you read that right).
I really like the font used, and the keyboard is so nice and also has a dictionary file for auto-complete (Arabic auto-complete) that I need as my spelling is horrible. Also, CM7 didn't have an Arabic dictionary.
Hi Guys,
Is that possible to port the old Froyo Keyboard to ICS ? A Girlfriend loves the good old Telephone Number Keyboard in the Portrait Mode. She haves a little bit Problems with the ICS Input Method in this Mode. If there a Possibility to port the old Keyboard to ICS with an App or Reg Tweak ?
Im using chacha as its prbly the only android with keyboard like a bb! Anyway- Ive rooted, deleted apps and made it workable at least for now- However one thing Ive been unable to do is generate typing sounds on the physical keyboard. All the androids have an option of sound for their onscreen keyboards so is there any way to do this for the Chacha keyboard? The physical one- not by adding a virtual one.
Thanks.
