Infuse to SR - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I went from a DLEV rom'd Infuse to a stock SR. Since I have a nice setup on my Infuse, I immediately rooted, installed CWM and used Ti to get my apps back. I wanted some resemblance to my previous setup, so after two days, here are my observations:
1. A tiny bit shorter and lighter than the Infuse.
2. The PTA apn was not working for me so I created a new APN based on my previous Infuse setup.
3. I have to get a new SIM and get them to properly provision my account as LTE eventhough I'm not in a LTE region). I was getting at the worst, 1000/180 kbps? This morning, I'm back to about 3.5k/1k *AND* the PTA apn works. Or perhaps ATT fixed the network?
4. Practically all my apps are working, even widget locker, widgets, live wallpaper. Even Pocketcloud. Titanium backup is a lifesaver. Sugarsync needs a re-setup though.
5. Dropped the phone on the 2nd day; this thing is slippery. Quite terrified of letting friends hold the phone. I missed the super thin Incipio Feather case, which they don't make one yet for the Skyrocket.
6. Battery is draining fast; I have Juice Defender, manually set display brightness and the power saving settings going. I've got to go a few days to let it calibrate first.
7. Used Ti to freeze a bunch of bloatware, no issues so far.
8. Internal speaker is louder than the Infuse but no better quality. Voodoo Control 2.1.1 don't work with SR. So external speaker setup don't seem to sound as good as the Infuse.
9. Screen color changes with the viewing angle. I don't remember this happening with the Infuse. No biggie but slightly annoying.
While awaiting a stable cooked rom to come along, here are my current negatives:
1. I wish there is a TSM setup so the status bar can be changed, batt %, no clock e.g. The numeric batt % would be very nice as the batt icon is next to useless in determining how much power is left until it's too late like last night.
2. The boot animation sucks so I'm hoping I don't have to reboot often.
That's it!

+1 from the infuse....and i am happier.

Infuse is single.core outdated eol obviously the skyrocket has faaaar better hardware

i made the same switch from a DLEV Infuse which i loved and which worked flawlessly, to the Skyrocket because LTE was just lit up in Charlotte. i got the white SR and in every way with perhaps the exception of the display and slightly lower battery life, it is head-and-shoulders above the Infuse. GPS locks are nearly instant, and this thing runs through whatever i throw at it and never bogs down. I can't wait to get ICS on this thing.
i am pretty disappointed however in the screen on the SR after coming from such a gorgeous one in the Infuse. under lower light it seem streaky with grays and doesn't seem to have quite the contrast and sharpness the Infuse had.
i dont know if it's worth doing anything about or if this is just a general malady that all SRs suffer from.
all in all, i'm really happy.

I went from the once awesome but very buggy Infuse to Skyrocket and it is like night and day...love it...

[Q] MIUI on EVO Notification Light Issues

This is my first real XDA post, please be kind
This weekend I finally took the plunge and installed a custom rom. All I have to say is WOW, I now know what all the fuss is about. I didn't realize how slow the stock HTC Sense was until I got to tinker around with a few roms. I installed Myn's warm twopointtwo first and I didn't really enjoy it all that much. I then installed MIUI because I had read some blogs about it and I decided it was a much better fit for me. I just have two concerns:
The notification light on my Evo doesn't seem to be lighting up. I liked having it so I could know when I had a text/email/missed call without having to turn on the screen because my phone is on silent about 60% of the day. I use handcent for texting, gmail for email, and the stock dialer from the rom, but nothing seems to be lighting up the LED. The 4G wimax light will blink when I get a text, but only once and then it never comes back. I tried tinkering with the settings, even tried going back to the stock SMS app with no luck. Any ideas? I tried the Wimax Notifier app too on the forum and no luck at all with that.
Second, what is common battery life for this ROM? I have SetCPU with some settings I found in the forum (screen off with lowest CPU settings and high priority). I lost about 20% battery life in 5 hours. Seems pretty good, but I didn't touch my phone AT ALL during those 5 hours I was at work. Always keep screen light set to low, turned off haptic feedback and audible touch tones. Sitting at 52% with 8.5 hours unplugged. I feel like I was getting better battery life with my stock rom, but I refuse to go back.
I am sad that my angry birds has gone back to having no levels completed. I was pretty far but I don't know what to do about that.
Any help that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I have to get back to studying! Finals coming up so I shouldn't really be tinkering with my phone, even though it is more fun. I love XDA and the people around here never cease to amaze me! Keep up the great work.
I did find something just now. If I activate the trackball light up notification settings it seems to do the trick. Odd, since the Evo doesn't have one but I will go with it.
Just want to get swype working on this bad boy and I am almost set.
Hey, if you want swype just go to 4shared on your phone and search "Swype Evo APK".
Type it in like that exactly (without quotation marks of course)
and in the results it should be labeled "evo swype.apk" and say "this is a striped down, english onle, version of swype" under it.

Are you happy with LG G2X

I've read post from people that seem to be very anal about there phones and nit pick at every little thing, I sold my thunderbolt and love this fine piece of technology despite some issues like light leakage. I personally still like the phonea lot. Its not to big and not to small, Nvidia hardware a company that is actually using the dualcore processors in its gaming applications through Tegra Zone. If the G2x is good enough for steve aka cyanogen its great for me. Not having to deal with Sense and HTC is even better, I don't even want to bother with Samsung phones and updates LOL.

The software was rushed out the door, but if you remove My Account and WiFi Calling it stabilizes pretty well. I like mine, my wife likes hers (and she's an iPhone fangirl)
Do agree it was rushed out the door but overall worth it . This is, my first non-htc android phone. Previous ones (g1, mytouch slide, g2(wifes)), all were rooted the first week I had em., well still have them to.

Hell yea, I love this phone... It is the most amazing phone I have ever used... And I have used plenty of android phones... I had HD2 (CM7 Nightly), Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S 4g, HTC shift and now G2X.... Somehow I never liked Atrix, and I do not know why. When I held that phone in my hand I did not feel like I am holding a cutting edge technology in my hand....
As for the G2X, best thing about this phone is, it comes with stock android(close enough)... You are free to do whatever you feel like doing with it. It is going to have amazing dev support, IMO it already has.
I do not have much LCD issues now with my phone luckily. (But that after replacing my phone.) I do not use WIFI at all, coz at my place tmob 4G is faster than my wifi.
I do not have random rebooting issue, one reason for that not happening may be that I let my device reboot after 2-3 days just to get my battery cycle. My GPS works fine. Bluetooth works fine though one time I had issue of my phone forgetting profile for my laptop.
I have laucher pro, go launcher ex, adw launcher installed. I have set them up differently according to the days and time... I keep changing them and still my phone never got hung, never rebooted itself, and never slowed down.... There is enough ram and storage for my use... I have almost 150 apps installed..
I have 8-10 hours of battery life after calibrating it with battery calibrator.. My usage is normal.. I keep background sync on for gmail, facebook, twitter, weather and pulse news. I watch 2-2.5 hours of podcast and youtube.. for 45mins - 1 hour I surf web, xda app and market...
In all I love this phone, it runs very very fast and smooth, and for the first time I am able to use all the apps to their full potential. Like in all the launchers, I can now set any animations I like without worrying about phone freezing or slowing down on me....
I love the phone when it is working right, but the battery use is horrendous. It is worse then my 2.5 year old G1 and it's battery was on it's last leg. I have done the factory reset and it seemed to work for a day and then slowly got worse again since last friday.
I'm using the phone about a 1/3rd of what I would with my g1 (out of fear of draining the battery) and the battery burns through quicker then the old phone. Yesterday I watched a 1 minute you tube video, sent 3 texts, opened a few emails, and played 3 turns on wordfued (total of about 1 minute, 1 move each on 3 games). The rest of the time all I got to do was use to monitor the battery, woo hoo, what fun.
I am also getting lots of reboots now (probably 20 total in a week and a half), and a few freezes. This morning the pinch zoom seems to be out of calibration too.
Tmobile is sending me a new phone and I hope it fixes it. My wife's seems to be working fine.
When it is working probably it is awesome, I'm fairly sure it can move around in google maps quicker than my computer!

every tmobile device that had android i had it. i also had the nexus s since release. i was ready to give up on this device but now since cm7 im liking it even more than i expected. stock isnt always so good....for the nexus it was but stock on the g2x had issues with battery life, signal, reboots etc. this is my 3rd device and i have very minimal bleeding and its great from what i use to have. im just looking forward to more roms preferrably one or two sense ones, and ill be a happy camper.
I am very happy with my G2x. There are some minor issues that I have experienced, but nothing that is going to make me want to get rid of the device. This is my 4th attempt at using an Android Phone. I had the T-Mobile MyTouch 4g when it was first released, but I was not a fan.
Then go forward to when the Samsung Galaxy S 4G was released, I got that phone. I returned it after 14 days, and then went and bought the Nexus S. I loved the Nexus S, but it was not the phone for me and I knew it. I had been waiting for the G2x, and since it was released right before my 30 day window was up, I exchanged my Nexus S for it.
I LOVE IT! It is one of the best phones I have ever used. It might not have the best battery life in the world, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the phone itself has a lot of features, and a dual-core processor. I think I will be buying a spare battery, which I do not mind doing as long as the phone works well.
Yes I am happy with this phone. All new phones have bugs. I remember my last phone the Samsung Epic having a cap on the data speed as well as other minor bugs. I have yet to experience a random reboot on this phone.
My phone is:
Rooted
Bloatware removed
ADW Settings used to customize my pages
Juice Defender on Extreme setting
Advance Task Killer used each time before turning off my screen
Switchpro used to put custom widgets on top of my home page.
Wintec 16gb MicroSD class 10
My battery drops 1% in 6 hours from the time I sleep and wake up.
My battery drops about 20-30% in 12 hours of light to moderate use during the day.
I got mine this past Sunday and I love it. No reboots, LCD not a problem. My main issue is that I get zero service (the x) inside my building at work. I would think I would at least get 1 bar since I'm in a "very good" 4G area. When I wake the phone, I have 2 bars, but it goes to zero in about 5 seconds. When I take about 10 steps out of my building, I get 4 bars. I can use wifi-calling while at work, but still haven't decided if I want to keep it. I'm thinking of dealing with it for a month and if necessary, swapping it for the Sensation. But if the reception was better, I would definitely keep it. I much prefer vanilla Android over HTC sense. My wife has no issues whatsoever with hers. Both of ours have a 4/05 date bought at Costco in Overland Park, KS.
I am glad you guys like it, as I am waiting for mine to arrive in these two days.
Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. I never had a reboot or problems with bleeding. Hardware wise it is perfect for me. Yes, sometimes I get annoyed when I rub my pinky against the usb port, but its all good. Coming from the vibrant I do miss certain features of touchwiz. Especially the smart dialer and contacts app. This stock froyo one is brutal. I feel like i'm ranting now. Well to sum it up, heres what I like and what I don't:
Pros:
1. Cyanogen Support (A nightly already?!)
2. It's only been out for 2 weeks, the xda community is booming
3. Sexy build quality
4. IPS screen...sometimes it feels like an iPhone...is it just me?
5. Speed
6. Vanilla!
7. FFC cough for the girlfriend cough
Cons
1. Screen Accuracy
2. Battery could have been bigger** (maybe a arc reactor would have been nice)
Thats it :O
**Thats what she said.
I loved my phone at first until other issues started to arise... I got it the day before it hit stores... now when unlocking my phone it pauses on a black screen shows me my screen then brings me to the unlock screen... A PAIN and time consuming! My battery is flakey sometimes REALLY good and sometimes sooooooo awful its unthinkable! Today, I called to finally get a replacement... time to unroot and return!
***lmao at that's what she said!***

I really like the device a great deal. However, I am on my third. Calling issues have plagued my previous two. I think it MAY have been an application, or some incompatibility between something(s) I installed. However, this latest one, with most of the same applications does not exhibit the issue.
It is fast, stable, has stock Android, and none of HTC Sense in the way...however, none of Sense's benefits either.

(Q) charge or thunderbolt

OK folks,
I have been a member follower of these groups for a longtime now. I love the android environment. I bought a charge yesterday that is giving me problems. I have not even begun to hack and am having lockups, robot voice, slow response, etc.
I have just factory reset before I take it back but wanted to know what the groups feel about the 2. I will be submitting this same question in the thunderbolt forum as well. Looking for opinions with a reason, please no flaming either device or me. I have read nearly every post under the charge group of forums.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
What were the issues you had with the Charge? Maybe others had the same problem and know of a way to fix things, or a work around?
Overall, I've heard of issues with both devices, but I have heard of more serious problems with the Thunderbolt compared to the Charge. The Thunderbolt is having reboot issues with the latest OTA update, and before that, had significant battery drain problems, with a full charge lasting just a few hours, regardless of use. The other problem, which is semi-manageable is the screen and its washed out look, and I've also heard of light bleed around the edge. The other issue, which I haven't heard as much about recently where times when the Thunderbolt would get stuck in 1X or 3G when in a 4G area.
With the Charge, some users seem to have random battery drain problems. Myself, I haven't noticed it being to bad, but I only just got my phone. Signal bouncing around has been reported to, but so far, when I'm in a 4G area, it stays in 4G unless I send a text or get a call (haven't tried voice/data simultaneously yet), and if I'm in a fringe 4G area, it seems to only pick it up if it is a better signal than 3G. Software may be a downside here to, depending on how you look at it, but so far, this is the best Samsung phone I have used, and best phone overall, despite the current lack of mods (which will be fixed in the coming days/weeks now)
I just picked up a Charge about a week ago after returning the Thunderbolt. I can honestly say if you want a 4G device, the Charge is the better option. I used the Thunderbolt for about six weeks and had way too many issues with it. I won't say that the Charge is problem free, but its minimal in comparison and managable. With the Thunderbolt I had worse battery issues, syncing that wouldn't shut off, terrible signal that would go from 3G to 1X to no service, and reboots multiple times a day. The only problems I've had with the Charge has been Touchwiz and the battery. Touchwiz is an awful launcher but that's what ADW or Launcherpro is for. And the battery life for the Charge is rough, but probably double than what I was getting out of the Thunderbolt. Before these phones came out, I had no faith in either manufacturer when it came to android. Now, some has developed for one. Hope this helps.

I have a thunderbolt too and have and still do have random reboots and battery drain. I also get 1X lock in 3G areas too.
My wife owns the Charge and so far it's nice. I haven't really had it long enough to really compare the two.
How did you return your Thunderbolt after 6 weeks? Or did you just pay full retail for the Charge and ebay the thunderbolt?

I bought my charge yesterday. Came from a tbolt. The tbolt is a piece of **** compared to the charge. ****ty battery. Poor build quality.bluetooth sucks. Screen sucks. And for some reason htc cant seem to send me a good replacement for my original tbolt that randomly died on me. Samsung makes a fine product.

The ONLY thing i preferred on the TB over my Charge was the 256mb of extra memory really does make a difference, everything is that bit snappier on the TB, but the crap battery, poor visible screen when outside, the piss poor signal, the fact it looked just like my mates htc surround windows 7 phone just bigger and finally some of the software is garbage like when it saves drafts and you dont want it to of your half written text, and the fact the browser instead of being able to type and google search appears, you have to delete the http:// that appears everytime, make the charge stand head and shoulders above the HTC, will be interesting to see what this new LG Revolution is like as that seems identical to the charge
Quick edit: But i have to add that when changing over from rfs with the voodoo lag fix could make things even out in speed, im yet to root so i cant answer

I had to take back my first Charge as the vibrate motor was dead The new one though seems to be fine thus far though.
I had the Thunderbolt the first day it came out and returned it on the 14th. I really like the Charge, compared to HTC and Motorola, I think Samsung offers a good blend of things. The media player on this phone f-in ROCKS! The camera is good, much better low light performance than Motorola and offers great controls, and the screen is beautiful. The only thing I absolutely HATE is the **** brown color scheme. I hope that this can be resolved soon and I hope that developers will jump on board and give us a great community of ROM's and support because I think this phone has great potential
I *think* the Charge has dedicated video memory, where the TB doesn't.
So the Charge may only have 512M RAM, but I *think* it has 128M of video memory, where the TB has 768 of shared memory.
Someone chime in and correct me if I am wrong.
I do have both a Charge (wife) and a TB. I think the Charge, even with the Voodoo lag fix, is not as snappy as the TB. Not because of the memory, but because the TB has a bumped processor over the older hummingbird.

Sensation is a huge disappointment from a G2X owner

I picked up a Sensation at Walmart today to compare to the G2X and see what the fuss was all about. First impression was downright disappointing and the more I use it the more I am starting to miss using my G2X.
I'm going to force myself to use the Sensation for at least 2-3 days before I return it because right now I'm longing for my G2X. I really don't get why people are leaving G2X to get Sensation. I have both now and the G2X is night and day a better phone to me.
Things I've noticed so far after only a few hours:
- Sensation takes much longer to boot than G2X - I thought the Sensation had frozen at startup but nope, taking its time
- Worrying most to me - a few times the touchscreen will just stop responding to touches. I have to hit a soft key or something and then it starts working again. Very weird.
- Weirdly slow wifi speeds. I get 2mbps down on my Sensation while I get 30mbps down on the G2X - Same router/AP. No other changes?!?
- Screen resolution on Sensation is excellent for reading text and whatnot BUT it's horrible for color saturation and viewing angles. Just holding a G2X next to it really is quite a drastic difference
- Lag city due to Sense and other overhead. Scrolling homescreen, app drawer, lists, even apps like CNN, etc. is shockingly laggy. I hardly have anything running or widgets and it feels slower than my old Incredible with Sense. Not sure what the hell they did to this phone.
- Sense app replacements for stock apps (sms, email, etc.) are complete resource hogs and not fast like stock android. Takes forever to get things done.
I've installed Launcher Pro and am going to try running it with LP to see if it makes this phone livable. So far it's a big fat suck for me.
Will post more here.

Your phone's defective...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXtZLXwpCC0
Not a disappointment to this G2X owner. The G2X is ready to go out of the box but the Sensation requires some tweaking. First you need to turn off those silly Sense animations. Then get rid of the 7 pages worth of widgets. Go into the WiFi settings and turn on "Maximum Performance". Lastly, do not let the Sensation automatically install your applications and uncheck back up settings and app data under privacy.
-After the initial boot up, the Sensation actually boots much faster due to HTC's quick boot.
-Never had a problem with the display not responding to my Touches. It's actually miles more responsive than the G2X display since I found myself swiping 3 times to unlock the G2X. I believe you though. Some people have this problem.
-WiFi speeds are just as fast on my Sensation. I get around 20mb/s down and 8mb/s up on both devices. Want to see pics?
-Viewing angles are atrocious on the Sensation and it's contrast is not on the same level as the G2X IPS panel. That being said. Colors on the Sensation are much sharper and vibrant. I think it has better colors but this is more of a preference thing. I can tell you whats not preference and that's the brightness of the Sensations display. When viewing both devices in direct sunlight. The Sensation is a mile better than the G2X.
-The UI is not as responsive as on the G2X but when your in an app I think it's faster than on the G2X. The Sensations browser also loads and scrolls web pages faster. In the end, if you tweak Sense a little bit, there is no more lag but it's still not instant like the G2X.
-The Sense email app doesn't get used since I use Gmail. I never use manufacturer email apps due to the stock Gmail app having true push mail. The Text Message app is just as fast and better looking than the one on the G2X. I use to use Hancent until it lagged on the G2X. I am back to Hancent and it doesn't lag on the Sensation.
Everyone is going to have different experiences just like they do with the G2X. I am not biased by no means since I own both devices until I sell one. I am not in debt to either of the two.

Either that or he's telling stories. There is no way in the world the G2X is going to boot faster when the Sensation has quick boot. It boots in 1/3 of the time it takes the G2X.

Sense has that fastboot feature which doesn't really shut down the phone, but rather puts it in a hibernate mode. From a dead start (after pulling the battery) the sensation does take longer to boot than the G2x. I say that from experience after playing with one at the store

When turning off fast boot mine boot within seconds of each other. When fast boot is on it is still rebooting the system and restoring all of your lost memory that apps suck up over the course of use.
I tested browser extensively. G2x won every time...

Is it just me or are applications on the Sensation quicker? It seems like my Sensation will load apps faster and also interact with apps faster. Just wandering if it's just me.
Sensation is slow and laggy. The sensation rom on my mt4g is way smoother, faster and less problems.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
just wondering what the benfit of this is? "do not let the Sensation automatically install your applications and uncheck back up settings and app data under privacy."
If its speed, how does this really affect the speed of the UI?
jrwingate6 said:

OP I have to say you sound incredibly biased. Not the least bit of objectivity in your post. You illustrate this when you say the difference in the screens is night and day. Anyone who has both (such as myself and jrwingate) will tell you if you sit them side by side there is not very much difference at all. The G2X has better viewing angles but that's about it. But one thing the Sensation does have over the G2X when it comes to the screen is uniform blacks. Since there is NO screen bleeding at all, the blacks are at least uniform..something I cannot say about the G2X. The sense replacements for certain apps such as SMS and email run perfectly fine and without lag. So your assessment is definitely without merit. You spoke about the difference in boot time...from a cold boot, they are almost the same, and when doing a quick boot, the Sensation boots MUCH faster than the G2X. All in all it sounds like either your phone is defective...or you don't really have one. I say that because too much of what you said is off base. Your description is very inaccurate (as you can see from the responses you've received in this thread). The only night and day (as you called it) difference is the difference in stability. The G2X is a good phone don't get me wrong, but until it's a stable device (freezes, random reboots, battery life) it won't stack up against a phone that is stable. I've had the Sensation now for 11 days and it hasn't crashed once. Care to guess how many times my G2X would have froze or random reboot in that same amount of time? lol ...let's just say A LOT. LOL

Side by side, they seem about equal to me. I can't really discern a difference.
Since I posted here is what else has happened:
- Was using the phone and launched Market...froze up, phone shut off wouldn't power back on. Had to pull the battery
- Phone may start fast from a warm boot but 99% of the time I never turn my phone off on purpose so the times I start it up is from a cold boot - in those cases it definitely takes FOREVER to start up compared to the G2X. Try this - the battery out of your Sensation and your G2X (assuming you have both). Now put the batteries back in and turn them on the same time. Done.
- Used Navigation and things were fine then noticed the GPS icon kept flashing and couldn't turn if off so it drained my battery and I had to do a restart (WHICH ALSO takes forever btw!!)
- LauncherPro is helping significantly, the scrolling is smooth and overall it's nice. Higher screen res is messing up some widgets
- Wifi speed is back to normal now for some reason so that's at least a good thing. No issues with data to report yet either thankfully
- My favorite thing about this phone is honestly and sadly the lock screen. Having quick access to apps from there is very nice but that's just software and sure not specific to HTC.
- HTC keyboard is garbage so I replaced with Keyboard from Gingerbread in Market.
So basically, in order for me to use this phone I've removed most of what HTC has on by default. I'm all for tweaking but this further illustrates the crap that skins do to phones. This thing running stock Gingerbread (or even Froyo) would have been quite wonderful.
I'm going to keep tweaking and keep it around for a few more days before I decide but I definitely am still missing the G2X. So far this thing doesn't do anything particularly better for me than the G2X. IMHO.
F THIS - I've decided to uninstall LP and go back to Stock Sense launcher. If I end up with LP, then I might as well use G2X. I'm going to live with this phone with stock Sense launcher so I get the real experience.

You've already decided you don't like it so do yourself a favor and return it. You've already had so many problems...funny the problems you named in here I've seen noone else have..but hey if you say you're having the problems then you're having the problems lol.... I'd still go with what the other people said, if you're really having that much trouble then your phone is definitely defective because the Sensation doesn't most of the issues you named. By the way, the data latency has a fix for it. By the way, just for good measure...I've had the phone since the 8th and have yet to experience a freeze or a crash, and the vast majority of others have had the same experience. Same can't be said for my G2X. But to be honest, the things you say in your post makes me really question the validity of it....just saying...objectivity is non-existent..
Just because I have had tons of problems with the Sensation you question my objectivity but people who post the same crap about the G2X is ok because you've had problems. Wow.
Any case, my Wifi on Sensation just slowed down again since I checked 5 mins ago...looks like I'm not the only one. Fix this for me and I'll avoid throwing this thing back in the box.

This phone is awesome

With all the complaining that goes on here, I figured a positive post couldn't hurt every once in a while.
I flashed the 2.3.6 TBH leak as soon as It came out and I feel like I bought a new phone!! I added ICS fuju tweaks, imoseyons 4.0 kernel and a few other tweaks and it hit 2350 in quadrant last night.
I use Launcher Pro Plus and absolutely LOVE it. I set all animation speeds in the launcher to 100% and it absolutely flies. The response it instantaneous, the thing is responding faster than my bosses bionic in most areas (what a steaming pile that phone is).
Now, with the camera button working from the power/search buttons this phone is almost perfect IMHO. My phone never freezes, hotboots or screeches on a call.
Maybe I just got lucky with mine but I have never had any problems that weren't directly my own fault and I had it for months. I don't know how it ran with the stock setup as I odined it to gummy 1.9.1 on the very first boot (it wasn't even activated on VZ yet) and have gone on from there.
I have owned a TON of phones and this is hands down the best one yet. I have two gorilla extended batteries with it and plan on keeping this phone a long time. The screen/sound/camera are all awesome. I had a liberty ROMed DroidX that I loved (I still have it) but these three items are all drastically better in the charge.

I agree. I'm very happy with my charge. All I've done is flash the new leak and this thing flies.

Same here. This is by far the best phone I've ever owned.

I agree and battery life over 3g is insane.
By the way, before anybody accuses me of being a "fanboy" or apologist for samsung etc, I am the exact opposite of that. If I was having tons of problems, I would be *****ing just as loud and often as any poster here.
I personally get annoyed as hell at posters like that. I have an ipad2 and I had to stop posting to an iphone/ipad forum when I came close to getting banned for criticizing some of the many deficencies of the ipad. The clowns on that forum did not want to hear ANYTHING negative about their beloved iphone/ipad systems.
When I posted anything bad about the ipad, you would have thought I had insulted somebodies mother.........
~John
I love my Charge too. In the screen and audio department I believe it is the best 4G phone on Verizon. The camera is great too! If my phone didn't drop data, have gps lock issues, and drop out the microphone on calls occasionally I would also be sticking with this phone for my whole contract. I am jumping ship to the Galaxy Nexus as soon as possible though. I hope that this phone gets the support that it deserves in the software department from Samsung with some Gingerbread source and working radio software.

I would go for the Nexus myself if I had those problems.
I almost never drop data, my GPS locks in 5 seconds & I don't make enough calls to know if the mic works or not (I do almost ALL texting)

I like this phone. End of story. Sure, there are better ones out there, but I'm content with my Charge.

I actually feel kind of bad when I see people posting the issues they're having because there's no way to duplicate it, to help with troubleshooting.
I, for one, have had not 1 single data drop. No voice call issues, no hotboots, no redraws, no lag, no nothing. Sometimes I seriously wish I could have some issues with it so I could help people out. However, I'm available for my upgrade in March and I plan on using it.
+1 on not having any issues.
She's running real smooth on EP4. No data drops. And I'm really digging the ICS theme. Can't wait for source to be released so the devs can really show what this phone is made of.
This phone really got nice for me on EP3HA, and I have yet to migrate to EP4P. Also, don't forget to get Voodoo Screen tuning! This screen puts most phones to shame. I hope we get Voodoo Color someday. Perhaps more devs will gain interest in this phone if we get an official release. I have a hunch that the Galaxy Nexus is going to get a lot of attention, but I will personally wait for SAMOLED+ HD.
loved my charge until, i did a backup and some how i got that stock android recovery system so now i am thinking about keeping my phone stock for a while anyway although i do love some of the roms i tried to odin back but computer would not recognize phone so i was sol on that one.. so i am getting my replacement today shouuld be here soon seeing how the stock o.s. is going to treat me.....

Try plugging into a different USB port. I noticed some ports don't get enough juice.
Also, my procedure for Odin, is :
1)battery out
2)usb cable in
3)Volume up + power to recovery screen
4)battery in
without the battery back in, it will fail half way for me. Without the usb cable in this one slot on my computer, it won't even read it.
On EP4P, it has peformed better than ever before, but i still get random data drops and text messages "failed" for no reason. At home, i get 4G 5 bars. For some unknown reason, the 4G will dissapear every once in awhile and i have to reset my data to get it back. Other times, it goes to 3G. Just now i got 2 texts sent back as failed. I hit resend and they worked. but sucks to have to do this.
I love the charge also, it's the best choice for me right now.. I am testing out an Iphone4S, and both of these phones are amazing. But there's something about the Droid charge. that i can't let go of.. maybe it's the ease of file transfers.. or the fact that i can play FF8 on it. That and the 4G. I must say that the Charge is buggy at time compared to the Epic 4G. but hey.

Another way to get into DL mode for Odin is to shut down and remove the battery. Then hold down the volume down button and plug in the USB cable.
That will put it immediately into DL mode, then reinstall the battery and flash away.
