Handset Offer: Offer is available November 20, 2011 through January 7, 2012 . No two year commitment required for the tablet when purchasing the tablet at an AT&T company owned retail store. Online purchases require a two year commitment (see promotional tablet pricing below).
So apparently if you buy the tablet at the store there is no 2 year commitment required... Interesting deal though. I have an upgrade so I could buy this tablet and get a free skyrocket with my upgrade then sell it for $500 and get a free tablet basically... hmm

That was I was thinking. I picked up an Infuse from a family member and my 2 year commitment is done. I could pick up this tablet and get a free Skyrocket, selling my Infuse.

galaxy s2

Hi , At&t is offering me galaxy s2 for $230 as an early upgrade offer. my contracts ends in nov 2012, so if i take this upgrade offer, my contract would end in nov 2013, should i go ahead with this or wait for some new phones in june/july.
There will always be a better phone coming out in a few months. If you wait for summer, it will be the holiday season.
Samsung sold over 10 million GS IIs before selling a single one in the US.
Any flaw, what so ever insignificant, in the captivate is fixed in the GS II. It feels amazing in hand, super smooth and fast, plus there is already 7 different ROMs, and it hasn't been out a month yet.
You cannot go wrong with the GS II. Go into the store and play with it. After two weeks I have yet to find a flaw, or a way to make it lag, or hesitate.
My question for you is: how do I get att to let me renew a year early? (For next time)
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
AT&T is letting me upgrade a year early also. Pretty sure it's not a full discount upgrade, or what, but my contract isn't up until 2012.
the original retail price is $199 and they are offering me for $230. I just called customer care and asked for an upgrade for s2 they gave the above option...this is with a 2 year contract....

Don't do it! You'll feel ripped when the SGS 3 comes out, Think about how long the SGS 2 has been out outside the USA..... Or you can can get the GS2 as it is one of the greatest phones out there right now and it flies like the wind.

My contract ends in January 2012, but I got a Galaxy S II off-contract.
The thing's AMAZING!! Super light, amazing screen, extremely fast, the best in every aspect.
The price is not, it's $599 off-contract. But do what I did, scout craigslist and find people who are selling it new in box at a good price, or sell your captivate, or trade.
The deal I scored was $360 + hacked Motorola Backflip, and I have a spanking new Galaxy S II.. Just don't deal in a bad neighborhood and always make sure it's the Galaxy S II (Say's it on the back)
Save your contract/upgrade for the Galaxy S III

Patience and Negotiation my friend. There are people out there that just want to sell the phone and one needs to take advantage. Did the same thing for the original Galaxy S (Captivate), got it new in box for $350 when it was $599 at the time.
does the galaxy s2 with live wallpaper make the phone slow down when scrolling through apps?
what I wanted todo was..take the early upgrade option now and take it early next time to..by doing this I will have a new phone for a cheaper price...

It does not lag at all, it's buttery-smooth and shows no sign of lag considering the powerful specs and the hardware-accelerated browser, launcher, and touchwiz applications.

You get a faster upgrade cycle (discounted upgrades every year) if your bill is over a certain amount per month, which I think is around $100

That stopped this year. They changed it, from 12 months to the normal 20. After upgrading in September, I next qualify 5/2013. That's why I was curious how he got them to budge at all. I have another line that qualifies in December (start date 4/2010, never renewed), and the phone broke, I tried in store and over the phone, they won't let me upgrade early without adding like $100 to the price of the phone, not the gentle $30 the OP got.

I don't know how I was able to get an upgrade for just $30 extra..I was supposed to get an upgrade in july... maybe its because of the data plan which they add..right now I don't have a data plan on my phone...

The new LTE phone is not worth it considering that it sports a slower processor, and LTE isn't widely implemented

I have always had an 18-month upgrade cycle with them, $75 "earlier than that" option. But, I've been with them since the Cingular era courtesy of corporate discounting.

I was with att wireless, before they were Cingular, with a corporate sponsorship this whole time. In the past I have had 18 or 12 month cycles too. The att store told me they changed the policy a few months back so all future renewals are not eligible until 20 months. I'm ecstatic with my phone now, so it doesn't matter now, but if in a year I can upgrade for only an extra $30, I'll be all over that. Maybe by then the LTE phones will have battery life worked out, and my area will have LTE

I was talking to one of the managers at my local AT&T store and he was saying that he could upgrade me early and renew my 2 year contract, he said I would get the phone at the 2 year contract price, the only catch was I had to buy $200 worth of accessories to go with it. Of course he pointed out the the Jawbone Jambox is $200. I might use it for the Skyrocket that's coming out, I'm just having a hard time parting with my Cappy.

[Q] Best buy return policy for Skyrocket?

So i got the skyrocket from best buy on the 13th. They price matched the phone to the $149.99 price at att. I have two questions if anyone knows.
1. Amazon is selling the Skyrocket for .01. If i go into best buy will they be able to price match this since its online and Amazon?
2. There was an article on BGR today that the SR would be released in white before the holiday season. Would i be able to return this for a refund and just get my upgrade back so if the white isn't out in the next 30 days i could still get it?

They won't price match with online retailers. But, Best Buy doesn't have restocking fees, so you can just return it and get it on Amazon (assuming you're a new ATT customer and NOT upgrading).
You are prob upgrading so Amazon's will not apply to you. The white Skyrocket looks awesome!
I also suggest the $25 buyback program from best buy so that you can get 50% money back (from retail price) if a new phone comes out in next 6 months that you want to upgrade to.

+1 buyback is the way to go.
i work for best buy mobile we wont price match online retailers and buy back is pretty tight thats how i got my skyrocket lol had an infuse, 6 months later got the skyrocket by adding a line and price matching at&t so i had $150 left over used that for the protection plan and buy back

^^ Nice...I work at Best Buy Mobile as well! With buy back you can literally never pay for a phone again if you work it right.

[Q] At&t new contract policies

Hi I read this information from an at&t blog
Today, we’re announcing a 24-month upgrade policy across all of AT&T’s wireless products and services. This aligns device upgrade eligibility with our standard two-year wireless agreement and it applies to any customer whose agreement expires in March 2014 or later.
AT&T will continue to offer a variety of options to best suit customers’ individual needs:
Purchase a subsidized device with a new two-year wireless agreement. You will be eligible to upgrade your device at the subsidized price after 24 months.
I bought a contract phone in june 2012 from at&t so instead of me waiting till june 2014 on march 1 2014 i can upgrade my device? Let say iphone 5s is still $199 on contract on at&t. If on March 1 2014 i can go to at&t store upgrade my device and get the iphone 5s for 199 dollars? then in 2015 march 1 can get another upgrade?

Early upgrade at Best Buy Question

I have a question regarding AT&T early upgrade at Best Buy store.
Let's say I'm eligible for Early Upgrade on a line. Now AT&T will charge for Galaxy S4 $199+$200 Early upgrade fee. Now question is on bestbuy they are doing a promotion for 2 year extension on contract (upgrade), Galaxy S4 for $49.99 Now if I do early upgrade with BB, will I be eligible for this price of $49.99 + $200 (Early Upgrade Fee at Best Buy) or will pay standard $199 + $200? Thank you all in advance for reading and answering my question.

Samsung upgrade programme

I went for this and will upgrade present contract to a sim only deal. Overall it's a similar price to a 24/12 contract but I get the option to upgrade after a year. What do others think?
Did same in UK Samsung online, pretty happy overall . .getting the option to upgrade to the S8 when it arrives next March is a winner in my book
Oh and a free gear vr means i can sell my S6 with my innovator edition gear vr i had for my s6

Did exactly the same thing will switch to sim only on August when contract is up. Will save me about 200 pound over the two years instead off a two year contract and can upgrade to next Samsung next year . 27 is pounds a month and no network bloat . Can't wait till the 8th
Wish they had this in the states.

Same. If Apple can, why can't Samsung?
I thought this idea came from the states . Mabe they are trialing it here. Will put straight into a case as scratches are counted after the year. I emailed the re getting a gear vr as it was not stated on the email and here is my reply Thank you for contacting Samsung UK Online Shop.
We would like to confirm that all pre-orders placed on Samsung UK
Online Shop are eligible to receive the free Gear VR Lite headset.
The product will be added automatically to all pre-orders in a few days.
We remain at your disposal, might you need any further assistance.
Regards,
Velina
So it's the vr lite which I guess is the latest consumer version.
I'm on Sprint here in the States and they have the Galaxy Forever plan which is like their iPhone Forever deal. You basically do the 24 month phone lease plan and after 12 months you can upgrade to the next Galaxy (S8 I would assume next year) or if you wanted a different brand etc you would need to wait the 24 months OR pay off the remaining year's worth of lease payments to swap early. So yah as long as you want the new Samsung replacing the S7 you would just give them the S7 and they would give you the new Galaxy phone. I guess the only difference would be that your charges may go up or down depending on the new phones monthly lease cost.
I went for this in the UK and I note this adds £84 on top of the sim free price of the Edge. About £3.50 a monthj
I have one year left of a 2 year contract and so I'll see what to do in January. I could end up paying off the Samsung S7 Edge and selling it and then taking out a new contract with whichever network to get the new phone.
One thing I couldn't tell, if I pay it off early do I save some interest?
I worked it out, it's £30 a month plus £15 or so for a sim only deal, so £45 all in - same price as a normal contract
In uk sim only deals usually 1/12 and not 24/12 so worth bering in mind as may be cheaper in a year.

I can't see it mentioned either, but as it seems similar to a lease there must be some early termination charge. Probably better off to speak to them directly as it isn't mentioned at all in their T&C's.
EDIT: Also it seems to be 14.9% APR interest
I'm definitely doing this. The contract on my S6E isn't up till March next year but by doing this I can sell my old Edge as part of payment for the remainder of my contract, then switch to a sim only plan next year. It's the only way I could do it without buying the phone outright. I can't see anyone beating Samsung for the next two years in terms of phones, besides the Nexus line. And besides, you don't have to upgrade to the S8 if you don't want to either. Can just continue your monthly payments as normal, so pretty much a no brainer.
I really wanted to do this. under £30 a month and an upgrade to the latest galaxy device after 12 months (providing you return the existing handset). Unfortunately, due to one late payment recorded on my credit file this year, Samsung have refused me
That's too bad! I think mobile contracts are easier to get than this type of credit, not sure though.
The only problem with upgrading after 12 months is that you sign another 24 months contract.

I generally have good credit but Samsung will not accept if there is even 1 late payment recorded on your credit file.
You do sign another 24 month contract but if you return the handset after 12 months, they wipe the remaining 12 months.

This still works out cheaper than my current contract . If I want to upgrade with Vodafone ots 56 a month for the exact same tariff . By buying the phone on the upgrade program even with the little bit of interest I'm still saving around 200 over the two years going sim only and this offer

It says you can make payments or pay off whenever if you paid it off in say 6 months you wouldn't then pay interest on the remains 18 months
I was thinking of taking the plunge doing the upgrade programme route, I usually buy the phone outright as I have a business sim card in the phone.
How's everyone finding the programme so far now it's been out for awhile?
