Im looking around and excuse me if I my search usage isnt the best lol but Im wondering which apps can I delete from my device as far as bloatware goes and to free up some space already rooted and installed titanium but im new to the Android world as this is my first any help would be appreciated.
I personally wouldn't delete any you have the chance of doing more harm then good. I use bloat freezer but Ti backup can freeze the unwanted apps also.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330235
Ok thanks so does the freeze function in titanium freeze the apps permanently or does it just freeze them until you restart the phone and you have to refreeze? Thankx fopr the link by the way am going to read through it now.
It should work the same way as bloat freezer does and stay frozen until you defrost it. Everything I posted in that link is safe to freeze, I'm sure there are more you will just have to play around and see.

..voice dialer and voice search?
Really new at Androids and hate to get rid of the wrong program.
Yes but why would you? They dont drain any battery if not used.

Voice dialer always runs. Takes about 20mb of ram.
Go ahead and freeze it then. Though unless you're doing very intensive stuff on your phone it wont slow you down.

Also, on stock ROM (nandroid), i generally freeze rather then delete the bloatware, as it may allow OTA updates (would probably have to un-root and possibly restore stock recovery also though).

Right. Definitely no deleting anything on my phone. Just freezing anything I don't use/need.
Gonna freeze both of the voice programs since I never use them.

Google puts out the worst voice dialer i have ever tried to use. my 4 year old BB pearl is ma be 20 time better with respect to voice recognition.
I have gone to a 3rp party app which worked pretty good on froyo, but keeps on trying to talk to me on GB. Let it send a bug report and hopefully they can fix it.
But definitely freeze the Google crap.

Thanks. Just froze and everything is still good.
One more question. Google backup transport. It's always running. I do not use google backup. Is it safe to freeze?

not sure - so I would say not in a good idea unless you are (I don't) - especially as it is a system app.

yup you have to go back to stock and unroot for ota updates so freeze vs deleting doesn't matter. though instead of going through all that hassle its easier to just wait for someone to post the rooted version of any given update that way you can just flash it. or even on better.. wait for someone to de-odex and remove bloat so when you flash you're already bloat free
I upgraded from the Captivate to the Skyrocket last week. I went to re-install my apps from the market, but it only showed about 3 of the free apps I had and all of 6 of the apps I paid for.
Any idea how I can get all of the apps I previously downloaded to show up in "my apps" as available for install? Or do I have to go through and re-install all of these 1 by 1?
Sometimes the market can be goofy like that.. you can wIt about 24 hours to see if they pop up. Or try and push menu settings applications manage applications... find market and clear the data then check. Or yes go find them one by one

tried both of those, but no luck. cleared the data multiple times, too.
Your gona have to find them each then. But hey if your rooted use titanium back up for future refrence
The market will limit your access to apps that will run on the version of Android you're using if the developer has specified it in the market listing.
What apps are you missing? I moved from a Captivate to a Skyrocket a well and I'm loving the speed upgrade.

I had about 160 apps or so D) prior to the switch. I have so far manually restored about 80 that I use all the time.
The Skyrocket has 2.3.5 on it right now, and I'm fairly positive that all the apps previously on my cappy supported Gingerbread.
also, I did use Titantium backup to backup all apps on the cappy as well as nandroid it. But I can't transfer them over to this phone I don't think... maybe?
The market "Should" have shown me everything that I had previously downloaded/installed (except for the APKs that I sideloaded.). It's annoying, but oh well. maybe this will force me to weed out some unwanted apps...
And yeah, the speed/performance difference between the cappy is HUGE. Also, I'm getting close to 24 hrs of moderate use on the SR, which dominates the cappy's 10-12hrs I was getting.
I'm loving the new SR over my old Captivate too. And the battery life is amazingly so much better as is the GPS!
However, when I go to check for software update I get that there is no update and I'm still on 2.3.5 on ATT. Not sure why it thinks I'm on the current version with all the talk about 2.3.6 up here...

you absolutely can transfer Titanium Backups over to the new phone. i do it all the time among all my devices. the only thing you have to remember is that you cant restore ALL apps, just restore MISSING apps+data

awesome. I have done this between similar versions using Titanium backup, just wasn't sure about going between 2.2-2.3 versions.
Haven't rooted yet, so guess I'll need to do that tonight to get 'er going.
I'm annoyed that the market didn't just take care of this for me. I believe it worked the last time I flashed, my captivate, but it has been awhile.
Hello all, while messing around trying to root some Chinise tablets I have been buying thu Aliexpress.com I came across this program callled MOBOROBO. It can be found at www.moborobo.com. It is a free program and I use it to manage all my android devices. I allows full management of almost any android device that I connect to my pc.
Just received my 32Gb S4. After finding out about the space issue and found out the 32GB was coming, I marched right in the ATT store and swapped. Had to pay the restocking fee but felt it was worth it. I have already rooted the phone and was thinking of disabling the bloatware while I wait for recovery ROM.
I just came home from work and connected my phone to the pc because while out today I decided to bite the bullet and took the OTA from ATT. Update went well, did not see any difference to nothing on phone except that it killed ROOT. I connected my phone and moborobo came up. I minimized it while I re-ROOT-ed my S4. I then went back to mess with moborobo to do a backup (I use it sometimes even though I have TiBU.) I then clicked on the apps tap at the top and noticed it listed all the apps on the phone. The was also a list of system apps. Went to the list and decided to uninstall some of the bloat. I figured maybe they won't be deleted, no prob if they don't I could then "disable".
To my surprise moborobo UNINSTALLED ALL the apps I threw at it. I was very cautious, I did not uninstall everything, only the ones I was sure of. Now I can always go back and do the others when I am sure I need to. Please check it out.
i just tried it and it works on att apps i just delete all this att crab.but this program doesn't know my phone name.

If your drivers are installed it will show your device name. While the program is running try disconnecting and reconnecting your phone. I have used it with my S4 (SGH-I337) my wife's S3 (SGH-I737) my older S2 (SGH-I777) and last night a friend came by with an S3 from t-mobile and when I connected it it came up (SGH-I339) I think. I don't have the most updated version of the program ( was not sure about keeping it) but mine starts up as soon as I connect my phone and sometimes it does not readily show my phone name.

I just deleted the AT&T apps along with yahoo and that yp stuff. Since I just got the phone I wanted to check out everything and decide what I want to get rid of. I read somewhere in this forum, someone posted a long list of all the apps including the Samsung ones. However I am going to be cautious so nothing gets messed up before we have some good ROMS coming from the great xda-developers kitchens. Some of the apps are not easy to identify from their apk, example: ATT navigator, the apk says telenav....apk.

I am with you on those apps being good apps, I am not sure however if TiBU actually remove the apps or just freeze them. I have used it to freeze apps the I could not delete or wish to return to at a later time.
In all of this though, one thing has come to my mind. Even if we remove all the bloatware, we still do not have more space because all of this reside in the special partition that we do not have access to until it is re-partition or allowed access in a recovery ROM. With all the removal that I have done I did not see an increase of space available. Going back to moborobo I can see that my system file list have been greatly reduced but my available space have not increased. I have therefore concluded that removing bloatware will only console me to the fact that all that junk is not on my phone. The 6.5Gb used for system files and bloatware is a partition that was set aside. I could be wrong on this so if necessary please teach me.
Yep, with Titanium backup you can either freeze or permanently uninstall any app or system app.
My S4 is still in FedEx' hands so I haven't had a chance to see the file system yet.
Speaking of FedEx. I'm in Austin, Texas. FedEx picked up the phone from AT&T in Ft Worth Texas. Now the tracking shows it is in Memphis, TN for some reason.

Yeah, returned the 16g ver for the 32g yesterday rooted that sucker using my new and improved S4-Chopper, rom toolbox uninstalling apps & backing it up using titanium pro then started tweaking it... I would suggest making a list delete 4 apps then back-up del 4 mo then back-up. That way you can get this monster the way you want it... mine is pumping out Slightly over 13000 on quadrant so im happy!!
It goes to Memphis because that is FedEx's main hub. So all packages go though there first

I accidentally deleted a system app. It was yellow pages so it's not a big deal but I would like to have it backed up with my other system apps. If I factory reset it will I get it back, or do I need to find a apk for it? Or would I have to go to the extreme and flash the stock TouchWiz rom

Memphis is FedEx's Hub. Everything goes through there, even when it means going from Texas to Memphis and back to Texas. The Postal Service does similarly if I mail a letter to someone in town. It goes to the regional hub (30 miles West from home and back to home.

I'm running the stock OS on my sidekick and am running out of memory on the internal SD card. It can't run the updates. I have only a handful of apps downloaded. T-mobile won't let me delete a whole host of stupid apps I never use. I went through and moved everything to the external SD card that would move (very few apps are willing to move, grrrrr). I even deleted the updates to all the stupid apps that can't be moved on the assumption that they always get larger over time (is this a correct assumption?) and turned off the auto en masse updating.
Anyway, I'm out of ideas. I guess this is a rant because I don't have much hope. It annoys me no end that the idea of android and having control of the device gets destroyed by the carriers.
Still loving the keyboard. I'd marry it if it was legal to.
[I just want a phone that does a few things reliably and I don't want to spend the hours I did with my last android rooting and re-rooting it, I added it up and it was 16 hours, at least, at 125 an hour for my personal time it was the single most expensive thing I've ever owned.]
Rooting this phone will fix your problem and will take a novice 20min and a pro 3-5min, choice is yours though

As demkantor said, rooting the SK4G is not very tough even for newcomers. Pretty straightforward and once you finish the process you can use those shiny new root permissions to delete things like the app-pack, qik-vidchat, and all that other bologna. Check the dev section and it's all there.
I agree, just root and install a lightweight ROM. It's not that difficult or time-consuming. Then you can tailor the phone to your liking. Or you can try Googling "android remove bloatware without root." Quite a few how-tos will come up, although I can't vouch for any of them.
Easy remove

For the easy then, SuperOneClick works for root. it's super and one click for the sk4g. "Titanium backup" can then delete everything that has a neon pink icon (TMO bundled crap, there is lots) Most of the "neon pink" is safe to remove, please someone correct me if something doesn't fit the large generalization.
Should be less than an hour.
For your problem root the phone then update superuser an download /system/app an you can delte the useless apps from tmobile or stuff you don't use
Or you can install a rom which would fix a lot of problems
P.s. also after root download clean master an run it every few days go through an delete the bs stuff you don't use folders that were not deleted

Was wondering whether or not there's a chance of us receiving any more updates before I root with towelroot. Was also wondering if I should take any safety precautions before rooting and then getting the xposed framework, because I am a noob when it comes to this but I have been doing some research about it in the past few months. I read online that I should do a backup of the software but I'm not sure whether I would be able to restore it since our bootloader is locked and everything. I'm on the latest stock on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 (4.4.2 NE1). Thanks for all of the help in advance
No one's out there? :'(
I'd really doubt that we get any more updates. I rooted with Towelroot, deleted a bunch of bloat, and couldn't be happier with how my phone is running. It'll keep me going just fine until I decide what phone I want to go with next.

Backing up is always recommended, but honestly, I didn't. I did a search for apps that are safe to remove, read through those threads and blog posts, and went for it. I've had absolutely no problems and I stripped out a lot of bloat.
If you're nervous about removing something you shouldn't, pick up the pay version of Titanium Backup. That will allow you to freeze programs and then you can be sure they're not essential before removing them.

Nvm, I rooted and got Titanium Backup. What bloatware/other apps have you safely uninstalled and did they make your device run better?
