Works on Linux?
Is is possible to root my Player 4 on Linux? I found this thread [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18615502#post8615502 ] but it's unclear whether it supports Samsung devices or even more specifically the Player 4. If I REALLY need to I can set up a VM, but I would prefer staying native.
Thanks!
does this work for player 5??? thanks

The ZergRush method will work for both the Galaxy Player 4 and 5. I've confirmed it working on the US versions. I'm not sure about the others though.
Works on player 5 I did it

It's an app called Triangle Away. It requires root to work.
There is an app on the market and a free version here as well.
I have used it myself with success and paid for the market app after cuz I was grateful
Yep. last version I had was 2.37 though this may have changed - it keeps getting updated as new device are supported...
I have the Infuse and I just upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.6 using kies mini and the update from samsung. Upon downloading it and using it for a few days I absoutely hate it and would like to go back to Froyo 2.2.1. I have searched and searched through thread after thread and I have found no solution to this problem due to the fact that you can not root the official Gingerbread 2.3.6 and seems like this is a common problem with no real answer. I have an idea and im no expert but thats why I am here for the help. My girl also has an Infuse and she is still running the Froyo. My question to all of you is there a way to use her phone with the original Froyo OS and transfer it to My Infuse with Gingerbread OS or does anyone know of a solution to the rooting problem with 2.3.6? Thanks for your time.
Read this thread and choose the method best suited for you. Personally, I have always found that Odin is easier to use.

Thanks so much for the help I kind of feel dumb now. I figured out the reason Odin couldn't recognize my device was because of the USB cable. I switched the cable and bam it worked... thanks for taking the time to guide me in the right direction.

How do you not like gingerbread? Copy and paste. Smoother. More options. More apps work. Etc...
If you hate gingerbread don't go to jellybean they really rearrange the buttons on top of the new features.
Gingerbread made my lock screen not work properly and some of the features I didn't like so I'm running 4.0.4 and so far I love it.

So i had bought the sgs2 in dubai, now i live in india. Initially it used to run gingerbread and i updated it to ice cream sandwhich (over the air). Recently i updated it to jelly bean spain version via odin. I thought that odin would have rooted my phone, but after using a couple of apps which required root access did not accept my device as rooted.
I read some articles which said that rooting a phone depends on its version, country and also the current os.
Ofcourse mine is international version, but i am pretty much confused, because i bought this in dubai and running the jelly bean spain version.
I am new to this forum and a complete noob. Can anyone help me regarding this?
Thank you!

The S2 was and still is a popular device - I bet if you go to the international S2 forum there will be a guide or two.

Try : http://galaxys2root.com/
Maybe flash a rooted ROM, like Wanamlite or Neatrom. Search this forum!
Did you load superuser?
did you made a backup of your ROM ? if yes so restore it first
first do a proper backup
then root with binary4
so that u can unroot later
than if success enjoy installing custom roms
available in tons at xda
Plz don't span this forum you have a special forum..post on it or better, search a little man.

Hi.
I did, Intel VT is enabled, but I still get the kernel panic error... any guesses ?
Hi,
Unfortunately I don't know why it's working perfectly for some people and not working for other one.
I imagine could be a VirtualBox issue.
You can try either doing similar procedure using WMware or ask for support here:

Up!
Orientation...portrait?
I have successfully installed 4.3 on VirtualBox again using Ubuntu host. Is there a way to change the orientation to portrait permanantly so that the VM looks and operates like a phone? Short of finding a way to set my expensive monitor on it's side I can't really find a way.
Hi I'm new here so not sure if I'm in the correct area but I have a verizon galaxy s3 sch-i535. I installed the latest famaroot and when I try to root using Aragorn I get error #7 and Gandalf gives me error #5, I don't see any other selection to root from, help is appreciated!!!!!

There's no software in this S3 forum with those word choices. Use Casual by Beanstown106 in the development section if you want to root.

Good luck. This is the first I've ever heard of Lord of the Rings and root ever mentioned in the same sentence. Just...sounds wrong.

**** everything else, **** every other tool, method. **** farmaroot, **** oneclickroot, ****.... I've tried to root 3 phones till now using them in vain until I finally arrived to kingo app [kingoapp(dot)com]. You have to do like this to successfully root your phone:
Enable usb debugging by settings→developer options→usb debugging (set it to on)
Run kingo app and then connect the phone to your pc via a usb cable. If drivers for your phone have not been installed or found in your phone...kinggo app will find and download it for you(it really does and the drivers are accurate). Then click "root" and wait until it says "rooted successfully" it wont keep you waiting for long, unlike other tools.
I've never heard of that, how well does it work? Can you also unlock the bootloader and install roms?
The app the OP is referring to is called Framaroot (not farmaroot). The root methods the app uses is based on LOTR characters. Other versions of the GS3 are supported just not the VZW varient. Look at the compatible devices list in the OP of it thread. Link below
