[32A, old radio] Balance between performance and battery life? (CM507t3, JIT/OC/UV)

I figured this goes in this forum because it discusses the difference magic kernels for CM5, so here goes.
I've been trying out CM 5.0.7 and it's just awesome. There have been alot of updates, ports, kernels, JIT, etc. so I just want to see if anybody has suggestions on the balance between performance and battery life. I rarely play 3D games, but do want to run SNESoid smoothly (which varies by the ROM, currently Final Fantasy 6).
AFAIK, JIT doesn't affect battery life right? It's just a different way of handling caching? Please let me know if I'm wrong here. I'm a noob so I may be way off the mark to begin with.
I want to see if I can get some battery savings with pershoot's UV kernel, underclock it and if JIT will compensate for the performance.
I'm doing my testing with Benchmark, Linpack and Neocore. Slashes just refer to two runs of the benchmark. Rogers 32A, old radio.
---------
Regular CM 5.0.7 test 3, bcrook port with the hotfix1 and audio, with pershoot OC/UV kernel but no SETCPU to OC it:
Benchmark:
Graphics - 125/122
CPU - 152/159
Memory - 103/124
File system - 29/31
Linpack:
MFLOPs - 2.197/2.275
Time - 2.46/2.38
Neocore:
FPS - 22.5/22.5
----------
CM 5.0.7 t3, bcrook port w/ pershoot kernel, pershoot's JIT update:
Benchmark:
Graphics - 123/124
CPU - 279/317
Memory - 118/115
File system - 28/29
Linpack:
MFLOPs - 2.783/3.545
Time - 1.95/1.53
Neocore:
FPS - 22.0/22.0
---------
CM 5.0.7 t3, bcrook port w/ pershoot kernel, pershoot's JIT update, UC to 352:
Benchmark:
Graphics - 90/89
CPU - 188/214
Memory - 103/98
File system - 28/29
Linpack:
MFLOPs - 2.102/2.318
Time - 2.58/2.33
Neocore:
FPS - 19.0/19.0
---------
CM 5.0.7 t3, bcrook port w/ pershoot kernel, pershoot's JIT update, UC to 480:
Benchmark:
Graphics - 95/98
CPU - 206/240
Memory - 94/104
File system - 27/27
Linpack:
MFLOPs - 2.569/2.641
Time - 2.11/2.05
Neocore:
FPS - 20.0/20.1
Anyways, I haven't had time to recalibrate the battery each time and test each scenario for battery life. But what do the experts think? Does JIT affect battery life? Can it compensate for underclocking in terms of performance?
So far I'm leaving it on the last scenario and see how it goes.
Thanks!
Jason
Re: [32A, old radio] Balance between performance and battery
I had flashed the test 3 update with pershoot jit and oc, but then flashed the audio update kernel from bcrook , with no further changes.
My lin was 2.35 in 2.3 second.
neocore of 21.7 fps
Device is a 32a
For me I think battery is more important. This is the only thing that this rom currently has issue with, but runs really smooth.
I Dont use the 3d that much to worry about oc performance.
Is there a procedure to doing these tests, because they can vary greatly each attempt.
At one attempt I got 24 fps on neocore, same setup.

nope..........
Is this the same one as the one in the Magic forum? If it is then I've tested it and had problems with the Market app. I can't seem to get past the Terms of Service screen. It just keeps trying to load it over and over again. I've posted a logcat on the Magic forum in case anyone can use it to fix the problem. I also had some problem with the browser that kept kicking me back to the homescreen while trying to load the homepage. Both these problems occur regardless of whether I'm on the 3G network or my home wifi.
I switched back to Super E since.

What kernel is being used in the screenshots? cuz this ROM only lets me take OC to 576, pretty smooth, i came from Chromatic 2.1 its built on the official 5.0.7 stable and is the only ROM that had a perfect fast market with no loops, problem is back in this ROM, haven't found any other problems yet though.
so far so good
using for 4 hours straight ...with 100% battery....no loss in 4 hours! That is the battery life I am longing for.
Speed? silly FAST.... faster than or as fast as Chromatic or SuperE....but this speed at such battery consumption is certainly an example of how much better these eclairs could be on our G1s.
Very good work, testing...
Using the WHITE version; Found NO problem till now....
- no market problem
- one reboot in 4 hrs (I was testing its multi-tasking ability)
- no multi-task
- Super Battery life
- tremendous Speed
- no Swap
- OC up to 576 MHz
- so many extra apps....got rid of them...only kept Titanium
Thanks devs for this ROM...will report back when tested longer

My thoughts exactly. Great rom tho. Cant wait till a stable CM 5.0.8 release
great rom
added swap and oc'd to 633mhz and so far no reboots. took out all the extra apps and added a few tweaks for superbad. rom is fast and responsive. probably gonna be my daily driver until 5.0.8
Anyone got a linpack score for this ROM? I'm gonna flash in a bit.

[REQ][MOD]GingerDX Xperia X8 With Bravia Hacks & 810MHz CPU Overclock Support

>>For doixanh<<
I have been using both of this ROM:
-GingerDX V017 From (doixanh)
-GingerXperia V9 FINAL From (xperiafan13)
Im currently use GingerXperia(Managing to move to GingerDX)
Both are awsome ROM i ever try
From my experiment,
-GingerDX:
*Fast,Smooth and stable @ 600MHz CPU Clock Speed.Max Clock @768MHz only
*All function working including Wifi with ad hoc support.
-GingerXperia:
*Fast, smooth but not smooth as GingerDX do(Currently believe faster than GingerDX)@ 800MHz Max Clock @ 810MHz
*Wifi got bug?Wifi able to scan for network but when i try to connect it cant, just stay "remembered".Scaning>connecting>Disconnected, looping over and over again.
*Bravia Engine Hacks.WOW!!
*Portable WiFi hotspot.Still have some bug
I Wish (doixanh) next ROM(GingerDX) Update will have Bravia Hack as previous ROM are Supported if i not mistake.
Bravia Engine For X8.YES ITS TRUE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267929
Support Overclocking @ 810Mhz.Im sure,Many people will happy with all of this improvment and its PERFECT.I know 768MHz is enough but its not enough for gaming, especially on 3D games. As long as i use SMARTASS governor it wouldn't be a problem for my battery and underclock it back to 600Mhz after gaming right?Maybe should have gaming mode..lol.btw i putting big hope for all of this to happen.Owh, i almost forgot this,if u mind, add portable wifi hotspot too.
Im too new to this site and i cant post reply and suggestion on your post.So PLEASE can u make this happen?
All the best,
PhillboyTMP and Thank You
Fresh Noob here
Are you not afraid overheat CPU?
Its depends on you,for me it ocing to 800Mhz only when gaming, undervolt it back if u not.Btw,what phones you have?
I have X8
where i can find gingerDX rom???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486
This is a real bad phone... I've been having probs with mods...
Maybe a kernel upgrade will fix when using GingerDX?

[Q] [ROM] HTC Desire C Nameless ROM v4.0.2

This post is meant for [ROM] HTC Desire C Nameless ROM v4.0.2, I just joint xdadevelopers so I dont have enough credit yet.
I hope to understand more of this mod I hope someone can explain to me. From the ROM Mods list:
- 'Excellent battery life!'
How is battery life improved despite having an over-clock feature ?
- 'Modules included tun,cifs,utf8'.
Does this mean the components are enhanced or HTC forgot to put them there ?
How do I experience a difference in UTF8 encoding, complex script ?
- 'Disabled CPU rendering - It removes the entire software-rendering pathway, hence good performance'
How does this relate to the setting Developer options>Force GPU rendering ?
Thanks

[Q] What kernel preferences?

I have the ViperS 1.6.3. Rom on my Sensation and it works fine, but my Kernel settings are crap.
at "Performance", it suck my battery instant-zero when trying to play any game and "interactive" went straight "to sleep" when not used and did not remind me (wake-up-call), when needed?
i have:
read-ahead size 768k
min-CPU 594
max-CPU 1404
using SebastianFM Kernel 1.5.2
so could someone tell me the ideal Governor and Speeds for good use.
I'm only using it for Internet/3G, FB and stuff, and few Games (Tapped out and a few minor) - so average use.
thanks in advance
