I was stupidly trying to root my gb inspire with visionary.
Now google thinks is rooted and won't me use its movie service.
Is there any way I could fully root it and backup all my apps than factory it, or just unroot it?
Visionary doesn't think its rooted so I can't unroot it like that.

Use ruu for stock shipping rom and keep it that way.

Superuser just popped up, because tapatalk requested root access! Denied. What the hell would tapatalk want root access for in the first place?

Go into recovery and fix permissions.

It's fine, I already denied it. I'm just wondering why it would ask in the first place! Something malicious maybe?

It asked in the first place because you need to fix permissions.

I noticed you have a lot of threads open about insert coin. I'm running the same rom and have zero issues. Maybe you need to do a FULL WIPE and install the rom again.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
I did a full wipe when I installed it, and I've only had the rom a day and a half! I'm wondering if titanium backup didn't import all my settings over properly or something, because at the moment I can't send emails. Finding my way though the initial niggles though, on the whole it seems pretty good.
So what exactly will fix permissions do? As from what I can gather it's only there if any permissions go missing during rom changes, causing force closes. None of that is happening, I'm just asking why Tapatalk would ask for root access in the first place.
EDIT:
My InsertCoin issues WERE down to Titanium backup, it didn't restore half of my settings, hence my problems! What a load of crap! Still doesn't answer why Tapatalk just tried asking for root access though.
Tapatalk just requested root access again. Anyone else noticed this and know why it would want it? Could be malicious so it's been denied again.

Anyone? Even the tapatalk support people won't give me an answer.
Hey guys,
I just received my Sensation 4G a few days ago, as a warranty replacement for my HTC G2. I have enjoyed the phone, but now I want a little better performance. I am currently rooted(perma) with S-OFF. (used Revolutionary). Stock 2.3.4 ROM
I have removed the TMO crap (mall, apps, telenav, teeter, Slacker, Qik, etc). I downloaded ROOT Browser from the market, went to SYSTEM/APP and selected Lookout, then Delete. Same process I did for every other app/bloatware I removed. But Lookout is still showing in my app drawer. Any ideas on what im missing?
Thanks everyone
Hmmm I have yet to see this added on my phone or a Rom idk

Turns out some of the app icons are still in my drawer. Nova is gone , but slacker is still there. Weird

Maybe your phone was reset vs ruu at HTC or wherever they refreb them

It came brand new. In box, sealed, headphones etc etc. Very very unlikely its a refurb.
Not sure why some bloat deletes and some doesn't

Check out /data/app and see if it is in there too

I suggest using RootExplorer or ES File Explorer (in root mode). Go to the top level directory (where you see /System, /Data, /SDCard, etc and touch the search button. Type lookout and see what the search comes up with. It should help you find it.
If 'Lookout' Had been granted Device Administrator then it cannot be uninstalled from the phone until this option is unchecked. Or a factory reset in recovery.
This could maybe be the issue ??
Lookout did not have administrator privilege.
I restored a backup of my original software. So everything is back to stock (rooted w/ S-Off).
So how can I remove bloat WITHOUT using a BAT or adb commands ?
I assume I can use RootExplorer , go to /System/App and select said bloatware and then select Uninstall.
Is there an official list of safe bloatware to remove? (Nova, teeter, tmo mall, qik, etc etc)
Many thanks !

I would suggest using a custom ROM like Android Revolution HD...they already removed the bloatware in their ROMs and stripped it down to just essentials. It is still using the Sense framework too, so you know it has good compatibility with your device...otherwise, copy down the list of files in your /system/app directory, post it here, and I will tell you what you can safely get rid of.
Just remember that, if you decide to flash the android 4/ICS version of Android Revolution, you MUST have SuperCID and flashed updated ICS firmware or it will NOT boot
You could try ROM cleaner it's in the themes and apps section.

Thanks guy's, I guess I will just use ROMcleaner. I'm not flashing any custom ROMs until the official TMO ics update comes out.
Thanks again

I need a step by step guide to unroot my HTC inspire 4g. Put it in dummy talk for me, I have never rooted or even owned an android phone before. I have HTC quick root/unroot installed if that will be of any use. Sorry for being New!

Is it S-Off or S-On? Find out by rebooting while holding down power and volume-down.
It says s-off

If You want To unroot it, just go To the superuser or superSU app And then in the settings choose To permantly unroot the device.
Do you simply want to unroot? If so, do what glevitan says. But just to clarify, do you mean unroot or return to stock?
I'm all upgraded everything worked perfect. Only problem I am having is obtaining root. I've flashed the su and bb zip a few times. Looks to be perfect. Su app shows and seems to be working but I can not update binary and no apps can obtain root. I'm not even getting a notification. Am I missing something ?

Nevermind a different su zip worked.
