Hotspot Not work SIMPLE MOBILE - HTC Sensation

Does anyone know if the mObile hot spot works on Simple Mobile 40 dollars a month 3g plan. I had no problem using hotspot on Tmobile before. Does anyone have a fix for this . Im rooted and unlocked using HTC Sensation. thanks

as far as a i know, this is a phone feature and your provider shouldn't have a say in the matter, so it's probably a problem with the rom your running and not your provider.
At least that's my understanding of it.

For the first time in 9 years of owning a cell phone, I finally like my phone: the HTC Thunderbolt. I love the phone, the stock UI and the effing awesome service verizon provides me.
My question is: does any one know how to trick the stock mobile hot spot into using your phone's data plan with out having to pay for the extra mobile hot spot service Verizon provides?
At this point i'm 20 days into my billing cycle and Ive already blown through 7 Gbs of data usage. The stock mobile hot spot works better than the after market version does for rooted phones, so i would like to continue to use that Verizon but no one can afford the data plan it would cost to legitimately pay for it.

Im afraid this isnt possible, and to my experience, the WifiTether in the market works very well, it all depends on your phones wifiout put speeds. Look into some USB Tether Apps if you want faster speeds than wifi tether. CM7 has USB tether built in.
1.63 DAS BAMF Mobile Hotspot
I have been using BAMF 1.5 for sometime now and I never got the Warning screen when using Mobile Hotspot. Recently, did the upgrade route to from 1.6 to 1.63 trying to preserve my data and then I started getting the warning. Even after doing a full wipe I still get the warning which concerns me....
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hello,
I switched over to CM7 for that reason. I only use it for emergent connections so didn't want to pay a monthly fee. I view it as a privilege and don't abuse its usage. I also have used it as a wifi hotspots but found that I cannot activate the WPA to secure it.

Complete set up

I know I'm going to probably get my ass chewed for doing this (yes i know the answers are out there) BUT...
I'm overseas right now with my useless G2x (cause the phone doesn't work for wifi calling).
Ok, i'm looking to;
get the latest push of software (coolest setup) that will let me wifi call again, and also is there a way to download apps on my laptop then push them to my phone?
I've been out of the loop for quite a while being overseas and all (maybe since CM7 build 70's or so)... so any help on the latest devs would be great!
If you really need wifi calling get a stock 2.3 rom, weapon would be my choice wifi calling should work perfect, but if you use wifi calling why would you need to dload apps to laptop, just use wifi to dload from market to phone.
You can download any apk file and transfer it to your phone via usb. Then install the apk straight from ur phone.
Which rom are you using that wifi calling doesn't work?

Wifi calling is a T-Mobile feature. I am over seas too! In Germany on o2. I just froze wifi calling cuz when I tried it, it said invalid sim.

Correct its a T-Mobile feature. But for T-Mobile customers its a great way to save $$$ when traveling over seas. Once you connect to wifi calling, from anywhere in the world, calls and texts to/from US numbers are counted as domestic calls. The OP Didn't say he was on tmobile or not. If he is then wifi calling should work. If not T-Mobile then of course, as you said, it wont work.

I used wifi calling without trouble on my locked g2x in London in August, with Froyo. It might have made a difference that tmo if a carrier in Britain, but then again there's tmo all over Europe.

Why not use CM7.... that seems like the best solution.
WiFi Calling works on just about every rom except MIUI. I know because I use it almost every day.

As long as you're a T-Mobile subscriber (meaning you have a T-Mobile SIM in your phone) you can use wifi calling, regardless which carriers operate in the area where you're traveling. Once you connect to a wifi network the wifi calling app connects to T-Mobile's network.

[Q] Question with using android prepaid with T-mobile

I have the Samsung Galaxy S 4G model no: SGH-T959V. I have it with T-mobile and paying prepaid $60 bucks a month. Ive been using my phone alot as a hotspot this past week since I had to disconnect my cable service. have used up 300MBs and no issues what so ever. I was told there was a limit of data when using your prepaid smartphone as a hotspot.
but if I go to my account, and then plan, then change additional services. theres an option at the bottom of the menu saying Smartphone mobile hotspot for $15.00. is that something different ? cause I havent been paying an extra 15 bucks a month to use as a hotspot. not complaining that i get to take advantage of it for free, but what is it that I might be doing different thats by passing it ? is it that particular model ? Just want to know so I know how to get around it again if I switch my sim to another phone. Thinking about upgrading to the Galaxy S2
Anyone ?
T-mobile doesn´t like it if you share your internet connection without paying them more than you normally have to without sharing. I never got in trouble when I use my mobile as hotspot. I never get such a message like you.

I never got any message. I want to know how am i by passing that. if you check online with the prepaid you have to pay 15 bucks a month extra to use ur smartphone as a hotspot. well ive had the phone for over a year used it as a hotspot numerous times and have never paid the additional 15 a month. Someone told me today it might have to with my particular model. Not complaining here, sure im happy I get to use it as a hotspot for free. I just want to know how that is working incase I upgrade to the Galaxy S2. Are others capable of using their tmobile prepaid smartphone as a hotspot for free as well ?

Root and use Android Wifi Tether or OpenGarden (ad-hoc).

yes we are at the same account
business plan
45$ for unlimited voice and 5GB data 4G
i'm afraid to call tmobile and ask them why my friend phone work great and my phone blocked and then they will block my friend also
Go to the development thread, they have a new fix that might allow free tethering, just involves an APN Change.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652084
Go to settings, mobile networks, Access Point Names, and then create a new one with the info in the linked thread. I havent confirmed it working, but it seems others have

That maybe because you're in a business account. On a regular account with a 5gb or 10gb data plan, you receive mobile hotspot for free.
This worked for me. Thanks!

Apn fix stopped working for me this morning on nexus s. Worked at first and I directed ns users to this post but it seems the good old days may be over soon. Thanks for the fix.

[Q] which phone to use for household broadband (t-mobile)

Hi everybody. I need to use a phone as an access point for broadband in my home. Long story short there are no other options available. What I was doing before was using a rooted thunderbolt on verizon and a grandfathered unlimited data plan, then used a wifi bridge to hook it up to my router and it worked great,
Now I need to replicate this on t-mobile by-passing their damn hot spot limit. I've already rooted my HTC one and tried doing this with that but I cannot get anything to successfully connect to it, and i'm reading that the mode was removed in version 4.2 or something to that effect..
So which t-mobile phone would be the best to root and use in this situation if it can be done? Preferably an LTE handset since I just barely get it but if not oh well, H+ works better most of the time.
Thanks a lot

If I were in your situation, I would install openwrt on the router and hook a USB HSPA+ or LTE dongle to it. IMO, that's a much better and cheaper solution than using a dedicated smartphone.
i agree with troolie's recommendation....
