When and if the galaxy s2 comes out, are you staying with the infuse or buying the GS2?
Just curious if anyone likes their infuse that much.
Bigger display and better sound chip = staying with the Infuse
im staying with it for now. until a phone that i see is actually worth it. i got my eyes on 2 ATM Optimis 3D and the Nexus 4G
Infuse for sure. There's no way I could go back to a smaller screen, and I haven't had ANY performance issues that would make me yearn for the battery draining dual core.

Any link to read on the difference of the sound chip? Or could you explain? Thanks.
Considering I'd have to pay full price for the GS2 - staying with the Infuse.
I have yet to see anything that really needs that second core, and the display of the Infuse is GORGEOUS.
Running the Infused ROM, on this screen, is rapture. I don't think I'll switch phones until the Infuse 2. I came from an iPhone 4, with a Nexus One before that, and neither can compare. All the GS2 would do for me is downsize my screen with no immediate performance benefit (because of Infused ROM, with VooDoo lag fix).

I was thinking about it. But I'm really liking this phone, and not really knowing when the hell they're bringing it stateside, I'm perfectly happy with the infuse, especially on the infused rom

Since I am one of those who only upgrade when I can get it at a discount, I'll be using the infuse for then next like 14 months or so until AT&T says I'm due for an upgrade. I like new phones, but not enough to pay full retail for them.
I had every intention of taking this back as soon they made an anouncement about the gs2 coming out. Then I played around with it for a day or so and even though the battery bothers me, I can't give this phone up. Its easily the best I've ever had.

Have an IP4 and a Dell Streak....Infuse hits the sweet spot.
I am keeping
Gingerbread around the corner and this thing is going to fly.
I am keeping.
I'm keeping it love this phone n the screen size yea I can't pick up a smaller phone lol

Keeper here too. Love this phone.
SGSIII should be out by the time the contract is up
Def.a keeper..as said many times biger screen better audio chip.. Now if att.gs2 has 4.5 and wolfson chip? This will be on craigs list the day i can buy it
I'm just curious as to how much samsung hurt their own sg2 sales by putting this one out lol...at least att sales anyway. I know it'll be on more than one carrier.

look up supercurio on twitter.
the sgs2 has a yamaha audio chip, it's not bad but somehow in the implementation they have a noise issue, clicking and popping with volume and eq changes and such.
many sgs's and trhe infuse have a wolfson chip, not only is wolfson a great chip the manufacturer was very cooperative with supercuio in providing the sources and drivers.
I got the Infuse with a new contract on 6/2 so unless a better phone comes out in the next week or so when I'm still able to return it, I'm sticking with it. I love this phone and don't really see a point in switching.
Okay for us that had the SGS1 Captivates we had to choose between either having GREAT sound on voice calls or running i9000 roms to get the faster data speeds. So with this article I am even more excited to get the SGS2 for AT&T since we wont have to choose between speed or sound this next time around.
Article:
http://news.yahoo.com/audience-ceo-...Q1OGMtMTFlMC1iY2YzLWQyYzFiNzFjNzM0NQ--;_ylv=3
For those with the SGS2 i9100 do you have the Audience Chips inside also? Or is it something AT&T had put into the next generation phones as they did with the SGS Captivate? I am STILL waiting to see WHAT is actually offered in the AT&T SGS2 (Price, Able to keep my Grandfathered in UNLIMITED DATA PLAN) before deciding whether I want to use my upgrade or buy an unlocked International Version. Hopefully we all will know more soon.
I misread the title I was about to post about wolfson (sgs1) vs yamaha (sgs2).
On topic though the captivate was the only galaxy s phone with the audience chip.
All other variants did not have it.
Doesn't the Nexus S have it too?

Yeah, was disappointed to hear that the Wolfson chip wasn't retained. It was an unexpected benefit of Captivate ownership especially once tuned with Voodoo Sound and I remember reading that Supercurio didn't think as much of the Yamaha. It's enough to leave me thinking I can just wait until next year when I'll be eligible for a subsidized upgrade.
Of course the SGS 2 is also rumored to use a SIRF gps chip instead too, which is almost enough to make me think upgrading off contact might be worthwhile...
Glad to see that the Audience chip will still be around though. I miss having it in Gingerbread and can't wait for at&t gingerbread to drop so we can get some custom roms that aren't just tweaked and themed a little.

How's that?
Same cpu, ram and storage. Just a different design with the addition of that chip for developers to experiment with!
it has a unique contour screen. A gps that actually works unlike most of SGS1. NFC chip and no more samsung rfs that causes lag.

And that makes it a SGS 1.5?
Google influenced the design. Other than the NFC chip, internally it is just a SGS. Ext4 is just a personal choice. Samsung chose RFS.
The gps varies on all SGS models.
I drove a 4,200km round trip and only lost gps signal in the Montreal tunnel!

It's a evolution of SGS 1. That's I called SGS 1.5, not enough to be called SGS2.
As for GPS, come here and I will show you how mine not working. The fact that there are so many threads about GPS and countless *GPS Fix* threads should mean something, right? Yes, not every SGS1 has bad GPS but significant portions of them do. Count yourself lucky.

Holy crap! That's crazy!!! I hope it won't explode!
But Id much rather have the 1.2 gHZ Exynos than the 1.5 qualcomm.
1.2 Ghz Exynos >>>> 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon.
Snapdragon processors are complete rubbish. This alone would be a reason for skipping the damn device.
You could tell me 1.8 or 2.0 Ghz Snapdragon and I'd still pass.
I've used a European version of the G SII and boy, the Exynos is.....beautiful.
You also need to ask yourself this, will Samsung write the custom drivers for GPU acceleration? I know that they did this with the Exynos chip. But if they think the extra .3 Ghz on the Snapdragon is a reason to not write custom GPU drivers on the 220 Adreno...then, the T-Mobile Variant of the G SII line will be the most pathetic of the lot.
Supposedly it had to do with exynos not reaching 48mbps capablitiy in the us on tmos network where qualcomm would.

You're saying a new model phone has more power than an older one? That's crazy talk. >.>
As much as I would love to have this I think I'll pass. After seeing the Sensation with qHD, I'm sold.
Even though it's SAMOLED+.
Nexus Prime should be the phone to wait for. But that's just me.
Well if your interested in the sensation.. around the same time of the sgs2 release there is the HTC amaze. Essentially a sensation with what I'm assuming is the same dual core 1.5 snapdragon as the sgs2. Qhd 1080 video etc same form as the sensation

Yeah the Amaze looks good, but the sad thing is that most devs have already jumped on the Sensation. So I would be surprised if that phone even gets much development. Kinda what happened with the SGS4G.
I'll just wait till next year and skip the dual core stuff.
Looks like Ill be headed to iPhone country.
Only phone Ive been waiting patiently on isnt getting the processor that every other model, US, EU, or JP, has already? Are you serious?
Good job, Pink T. Especially right after I renewed my contract for another 2 years recently.
Id personally spit in the face of the person who thought this was a good idea. So youre telling me, we have a 2/5GB cap limit, and you want a phone getting 42mbps? So you can hit your cap limit faster? This is why youd take a SNAPDRAGON over an Exynos?
Its not even a Galaxy S II. Its the Samsung Hercules. Dont disrespect the Galaxy S II name.
Quick question. I am seriously considering the Hercules but seeing the comments about the processor makes me wonder what is the difference between the two? Is a snapdragon that bad compared to the other?

I have a Motorola Atrix right now and was looking to buy the Skyrocket. I had the Samsung Captivate and really loved Samsung's Android devices.
Some questions I have about the phone:
-The Galaxy Nexus has a 720p screen, since the Skyrocket only has a WVGA screen, does that mean less icons on the screen?
-We don't have LTE in Seattle yet, but how is the battery life while on HSPA? And how is it on LTE?
-Since the processor that is in the Galaxy S II isn't compatible with LTE, is Qualcomm's dual-core as fast and smooth?
-Is the camera take good pictures, and is the video quality good?
Thanks for those who help!

I was going to go for the Vivid until I read reviews about it....
So I wanted the Galaxy S II and the Skyrocket seems like i'd be to big with the 4.5" screen and the AT&T GSII seems nice with the 4.3" screen.
Is there much of a noticeable difference between the 4.3" and 4.5"? it's only.2" bigger.
Is not that big of a difference (size wize), but I would go for the Skyrocket, is newer and have LTE. Make sure you read first what users are saying about the screen though, I've heard there are some pretty bad batches out there.

Appartently some people are saying the "screen" is not good...
I don't have any issues, nor do any of the 10 buddies of mine who own the same phone..
I was skeptical about switching from iPhone 4 to the Skyrocket due to its enormous size difference. After using for a day or two, I got used to it and the 4.5 inch screen really made a difference for me. However if you're switching from an OGS2, then it won't be that big of a difference but still good.
Girlfriend has the 4s, and she doesnt need to ask siri which is a better phone. i have had both att gs2's. The skyrocket is faster but the other is more refined. i like them both, but like skyrock speed
hey, my dad actually has the iphone 4 and he says all the time "hey whats that on your phone" because this phone is just so capable. I came a Sony arc and the speed alone should be enough to get this phone

24-28 hours on LTE?
I'm impressed.
May I ask what ROM you are using that achieves this battery life?
I have the Skyrocket and overall I think I made a mistake getting it.
** The skyrocket is a hastily put together phone. The plain SGS II is actually a better built phone. Even the Captivate was a much better built phone.
**The only reason for the Skyrocket hardware is to enable LTE for AT&T. The plain SGS II gives you 4G which should be more than enough, since LTE IS NOT AVAILABLE at most areas.
** The plain SGS II has far superior screen resolution.
** The exynos processor in plain SGS II even at 1.2 GHz is so much better.
** Unless you ABSOLUTELY want LTE, Skyrocket has not shattering advantage.
** The Skyrocket HD of course is a different question altogether.
** AND the HTC One X has the same specs as Skyrocket, with a HD screen and may be something to consider. Check this phone out too. http://www.mobilenapps.com/articles/1769/20120420/htc-one-x-release-date-att-may.htm#

Sorry, I think all ur main points are wrong frankly.
1) Build quality and quality control of the skyrocket has been excellent so far
2) I have access to 4g and LTE everywhere I go in all of Ontario, and let me tell u for what I use my phone for, late makes a WORLd or difference, 4g isnt even in the same league. This us basically just ur opinion
3) better screen resolution? where'd u find this info? link please?
4) find benchmarks showing me that exynos slaps the S3 1.5, please. Cuz I guarantee u won't. Sure if all u do is run benchmarks all day, yeah ifs faster. but in real world use u won't even be able to notice the difference. I'll take a pentaband radio that I can use on any carrier over 5% not even noticeable performance increase.
5) again ur opinion, see second point
6) skyrocket HD is same phone, better screen... so I don't understand this one
7). HTC One X has no SD card slot for expandable storage and lacks a removable battery, HUGE turnoffs for me ans several other users here, plus its HTC, and it may or may not come with a locked boot loader. Our dev took off out of the box, becuz we had no obstacles. Sammy's are definately the best for custom stuff.
considering other options for a mobile device. what i'm wanting to know is how can i tell which phones have the best output sound quality? i've grown quite fond of our phones with voodoo. i use poweramp to play music and absolutely love the sound.
i've heard other friends phones that arent compatible with voodoo and they just dont sound the same.. almost like the difference between stereo and mono.
i realize voodoo isnt compatible with newer galaxy devices because of the different chips, but hoping they might still sound as good. thanks for any input
The Infuse has the Wolfson DAC that is why it sounds good.
Look for other phones with that DAC then they should sound good too. I heard the sound of a Samsung Note and to me it sounded rather "flat". That one has a Yamaha DAC.
I haven't found a newer device with Voodoo Sound support. Nexus S could work if you're willing to cut specs for Android 4.
the asus transformer tablet has a wolfson dac. and it does have voodoo support.
Are there no other chipsets that have the same audio quality as ours? The device doesn't necessarily have to support voodoo, I'm sure the same effects could be achieved without it..
So..basically the infuse is the "best device" capable of producing this kind of audio quality?
That's disappointing..its really the only reason I haven't upgraded yet. I wonder how it compares to non Samsung devices, out even non Android devices. I'm open to switching platforms and brands
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
I tried a WP7 Titan prototype and was dissappointed. The only other option I've heard of is an iPhone using an external DAC with an amp for your headphones. Too much work IMO.
Wow I didn't think the options would be limited to devices before the infuse lol I'm kinda partial to having one device for all my needs. Its a shame manufacturers are slowly drifting towards cost/benefit for the majority looks like I'm keeping my infuse.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
captivate uses the wolfson chip,,yeah not an upgrade, now if cowon and sam would hook up it would be awsome
I have been researching this for a long time and nothing I have found compares to a voodoo enhanced Wolfson DAC (excluding line out amps). I contacted Supercurio before deciding on a device to see what he personally has found to give the best sound (I trust his ears) and the response was Nexus S or Infuse. The tw6040 in the g-nexus is "ok", better than yamaha but not as good as cirrus (newer iPhones). Infuse was my choice and still yet to find a true contender!

When I was looking for "the one" I was calling around manufacturers asking about their chipsets. The unanamous response was "we cannot disclose that information" so it's all hush hush. I did not spend too much time testing or tweaking it, but right out of the box i can say it didn't really please my ears. I have a decent headphone audio setup in the $800 range that includes a dedicated USB DAC/Amp coupled with a pair of Sennheiser HD650 and the Infuse still satisfies my needs in comparison.
So yeah, to answer your question, decent enough if you don't really have sensitive ears or you are one of those folks that believe beats by Dre is great audio.(Including headphones, or beats by Dre lib mod junk that you see here around the forums, etc..)

My ears disagree with this. I too have hd650s and also some grado's but for portable music my dre solo hds murder them for clarity - especially on the infuse. I just use poweramp to tweak the highs slightly and to me they sound incredible for the electronic music I listen to. They shake my head like nothing else. Love it to bits!
