Please help me asap phone stuck in download mode

Okay here is my problem I followed the following tutorial step by step until I got to step 7
addictivetips.com/mobile/install-gingerbread-based-miui-custom-rom-on-samsung-captivate/
After getting to that step they tell you to download cm7-captivate-initial-kernel.tar
from
sourceforge.net/projects/teamhacksung/files/
I have searched everywhere for it and have come up with noting. I tried downloading the .zip file for it but odin doesn't take. zip files it only takes .tar .md5 etc..
If this is the right place to find this file please tell me how to go about getting the file. If someone can be so generous as to give me some in depth insite I would be very grateful. I am really lost right now and have my phone stuck in download mode as to not brick it.
Again thanks ahead of time for anyone who can help me find this file.
BTW I have a samsung captivate if that helps any. oh and sorry for the inconvenience of not posting a direct link. since im new here I am not allowed to post links.

I am not quite sure what you mean when you say does it contain the files I need. But if you are talking about if I have all the files and completed alll the steps in the tutorial then yes I have.
I just cannot find the file mentioned in the tutorial that is called cm7-captivate-initial-kernel.tar........ I really need someone to point me in the right direction as far as this file goes?
Someone please help me it's been 8 hours that I have my phone in dowload mode as to not brick it. I just need this file... PLEASE HELP
Can someone please reply... I really need to use my phone again. I CANNOT MAKE PHONE CALLS... PLEAS E HELP ME
Try changing the zip extension to tar if that's what it's supposed to be. If you haven't already, unzip the file and see if what you need is inside.
EDIT: You may also want to check the Captivate forums here.
Why didn't you download everything before starting the process?

[Q] Htc Hd2

I am trying to install rafdroid and the instructions say to " First of all modify the config.txt file in your build folder, with wince=1 or you will be stuck at bootscreen."
I really don't know how to modify it so could anybody help with this?? Maybe some steps on what to download & how to modify it would be helpful. Any help will be appreciated. Help ASAP if able. Thanks.
I've used rafdroid sd builds looong time ago... but i remember that if you use to start android from winmo you must create a text file (withe Notepad), write "wince=1" and save it in to the android folder in the sd-card otherwise it will work only with MAGLDR.

[Q] How do you get around build.prop check in recovery? i'm stumped

hello...
i've searched and searched and can't find the answer....
if some dev can please tell me how to get around this i'd be GREATLY thankful!
Problem: when i make a ROM, i want to change the Software number & Build number of the ROM. so i change them in the build.prop.
once i do that, i zip up the file, put it onto my SDcard, boot my phone into CWM Recovery.
then i try flashing the ROM. it fails.
never works.
always giving me an error about how it can't open the file (bad)
i read somewhere in another forum that to get around that, you have to modify the updater-script... but which lines do i modify?
please someone help, i'm stumped...

[Q] Extracting LG E400 stock files

Hello everyone,
I'm new to low-level Android hacking, so I guess I need some help.
What I am trying to do is getting the stock files from an LG E400, and modify 1-2 things, repack, flash, and see if it works for me.
My first step:
1) Rooting the LG E400
2) Flash CWM Recovery
3) Create a backup
4) Get boot.img from the backup.
So I have a boot.img (which I think is stock, because rooting does not modify the contents of the boot image as far as I know.)
After that, I followed this tutorial to extract the kernel and the ramdisk.
I used a hex editor for this. I saved the kernel and the ramdisk as separate files, and I tried to gunzip the ramdisk. That seemed to work. However, after that, when I try to run cpio on the file, I get a lot of "Malformed number" errors, and only two empty folders are extracted.
And that is where I'm stuck at.
Are the LG phone boot.img-s encrypted somehow? Am I doing something wrong?
If anyone can help me, I would be really grateful.
Thanks in advance
