Is there any way to force the tmobile sensation to roam.IE use the ATT network where there is TMO network?
yes, in settings->wireless networks you can specify network operator by hand

hi i just moved networks and the company that i am using now are a virtual network operator (national roaming) so my phone thinks its alway roaming on my home network i have to turn on roaming data to use the net this is bad as i do go over the boarder to a diferant country every so often and this will drane my credit in seconds
so i am asking is there any way to make android think one network (my home network) isnt roaming but home?
running miui on a desire z
Would also like to know this, I would like to change the default carrier from ATT to my local carrier so I don't need to have data roaming enabled to use data.
no one can point me in any direction?

Hi Guys,
Basically my provider is Virgin Uk who is an MVNO. They use TMobiles network. TMobile has an agreement with Orange so that we can use their network when the TMob/Virgin signal is not good. Once I am on the Orange network, the network name changes to 'Virgin' from the normal 'virgin'.
Note, in the notification pull down tray where you can see the current network, when I am on my home network ('virgin'), it shows as 'no service'.
Whilst I am on the 'virgin' network (actually the TMob network), I can use data without any changes to the roaming settings. If I swap over onto the 'Virgin' network (actually the Orange network), Android tells me that I am roaming and thus I have lost data. At this stage I have to change the roaming settings to enable data.
In my CM9 rom, I have an option to enable 'National Data Roaming'. Should this option allow me to use data on the 'Virgin' network (actually the Orange network)?
This doesn't appear to be the case and I have to switch on the main 'Data Roaming' option which would then mean when travelling abroad where I am actually roaming, I would get charged for any data usage.
Does anyone have ideas on how to sort this out so I don't have to keep changing my Roaming options?
Thanks
My MyTouch is actually a HTC Panache from Moblicity, which is apparently the same phone with a different name. I usually use it with WIND Mobile, and when I go to the US, I use my T-Mobile SIM. On my old Hawauai U8100, this was not a problem, and all APNs changed automaticly, and i had no problem using data in the US or Canada. On this phone, however, APN setting are cleared every time i remove the SIM. I already have the settings for WIND and T-Mobile, so I can re-enter them every time, however i noticed that T-Mobile uses the AT&T network in places that there is no T-Mobile coverage (such as upstate NY), so when I am there I only have voice & SMS, but no data, as I do not have AT&T APN setting.
So first of all, I would like to know how my old phone got APNs automaticly, and if that would be possible on the MyTouch, and if not, what are the APN settings for the AT&T network that is shared with T-Mobile?
I can't get lte on my nexus 5. I have lte as my preferred network type and i live in an lte coverage area. I have contacted my network service provider and they sent a configuration setting.. but still no lte..what can i do?
Are you using the right APN?

Click to collapse
Enter *#*#4636#*#* on your dialer, tap Phone Information, scroll down to "Set preferred network type:", and make sure "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)" is selected. (If you're in the US)
Toggle to 3G and then back to LTE after you make sure your APN is correct. I had to do that on mine to get it to grab LTE initially, it's been fine ever since.
I am using unlocked ZTE Z331 outside US, it always connects to 3G network. In my area 3G network is not good. How can i change preffered network type to 2G? I didnt find any option in the phone to do same.
