**** aint it... having to blow away crap from it all the time!!
Yeah, I've have the same issue. I used to clean it by taking off the cover and getting rid of the dust, that is, till I didn't it was a good idea to constantly remove a cover with active contacts. I try to keep the cover removal to a minimum now, though I do have occasional urges to clean it. If the dust isn't under your screen, you're fine.

its a joke m8 edit: the design is a joke
I use a can of compressed air.OCD ftw
Ah, so there IS another use for compressed air aside from computers and freezing things! lol I wish they put some kind of thin, rubber edging in that gap area to seal off potential dust accumulation, but maybe I'm just nitpicking. I don't regret purchasing this phone at all.
So we need a re designed back cover that seals the phone better, also covers the cameras from getting crap on the internal lenses and maybe move the arial higher up it to stop it blocking signal....

mine has a gap between the screen and the innerborder ( not the backcover ) kinda wierd , on the upper left of the phone ...
Though little , i don't like it , it's dusty in there and no way to clean it ...

Hello,
I always use the original Android sleeve with my Nexus One. I have it in it in my pocket around 10 hours a day when working. (with the Trackball on the open side of the sleeve and the display to the "Droid" side)
A week ago (got it since 15th Jan) I noticed some "scratches" at the top on my N1.
Here's a crappy picture shot with a crappy cam.
Will do a better pic tomorrow but I think you can guess what I mean
###################
I stick the phone into the sleeve just as you described and haven't noticed any kind of scratches on the top. I've had it since Feb 18th.

The Pouch looks of decent quality to me aswell
I'm using it because I thought the quality is just great!
Well, it still is great but the scratches annoy the hell outta me..
noticed it a week ago and it wasn't that much as today :\
Maybe it does "rub" it off with some dust and much moving? I'm always going around and anything @ work, much movement in my pockets ^^
I think the scratches coz' by rubbing on the wall or something else, not by the pouch. I'm getting a case from case-mate though I like the pouch a lot but it's quite annoying sometimes.
what do you mean with wall?
I mean some rough surfaces
Its because the seams are on the inside, including the stitches. Those WILL rub on your phone and cause scratches if the phone moves around inside, even a little.

Really? Cuz my phone's in the sleeve for probably 14 hours a day and is still flawless. Obviously you didn't look at the pic, cuz the scuffs are at the top that is exposed while in the sleeve. I'm betting the OP puts other stuff in that pocket with the phone... bad idea.
same here, I use the sleeve constantly and have no scratches...did you get dirt or something in your pouch?
Use the sleeve a lot and have no scratches or marks on the N1.
I don't see the N1 as being like an iPhone. For me the side and back is durable and I am not worried about scratches - only the screen concerns me which is why I have a screen protector...
Talking about how phones are made I have to say I think the HD2 is the most durable phone right now with quality and style. The top and sides are almost rubbery so quite resistant to scractches and the back is metal -which although not scratch proof is most definately very resistant to any wear.

Keep your case clean, I have experienced no such problems and I make it a point to keep the inside of the case clean for obvious reasons.
When cleaning the case, I turn the whole thing inside out, shake it out and vacuum it.
Edit: One thing I have noticed is that the phone is prone to marks/scratches quite easily when dropped or bumped into something, as opposed to normal wear and tear (in and out of pocket/case, rubbing against keys etc). I am not really surprised by this, just figured I would note it.
Mintyfloss is right, that's causing it and I were about to write it right now since I Googled the translation just before reading that post I'm not having anything else in my pocket!
How to avoid these "scratches"? Will put the phone with the bottom first in the sleeve now..
Edit: didn't see the second site until now
I also never ever dropped the phone.
cleaned the sleeve yesterday inside out, hope it helps..
Another edit, not sure if needed: I have the phone and. The sleeve upside down in my pocket

Yea, the sleeve can't scratch the Teflon coated phone, it just marks it. I have heard in this forums that you can get away the marks with a little bit of alcohol and a handkerchief.
Hope this helps...
I thought I had a little bit of scratching in the same area, luckily it rubbed off

Actually, to be honest, I'm having the same thing happen with my phone. I put my phone in the the other way than you and I have those marks on the bottom. Although it doesn't really look or feel like scratches. Just looks like little black marks on it and could come off if you rubbed it with alcohol or something.
wondering if anyone has ever dissasembled thier inspire before....if its hard, tricky, details.
wierd thing, i dropped my phone yesterday, as it was falling i fumbled for it, smacked it up agains the wall in my house. Bits of drywall got wedged between the screen and the body of the phone, as i was trying to get it out with a thin knife, some of it dropped down inside the phone. i want to get it out because i have a feeling it will ende up making white dust in my screen.
another reason id like to get it open is to see if i can get the bottom right coner of the phone re-secured. its loose and floats up and down.

DO NOT DO THIS! Not that you don't have the ability to do so...But because this phone has not been on the market for a year yet. the screen coming up is a defect. Get it replaced.
EDIT: A EXTREMELY slight movement is normal. It has to give to be stable. It's kind of the same concept behind a wooden roller coaster. Some, very minor flex is required, as it actually supplies more structural integrity. Now...If you had a knife under the screen, that is far too much flex, and should in fact be replaced.

Funny my screen "flexes" on the bottom right corner. It really bugs me, its stupid, but I wish I could fix it. It pops up, then I push it down. It's stays for less than 10min and pops back up. I'm not sure if its worth the hassle to call HTC.

I used a clamp on mine last night. Placed a cloth between it and the phone and let the clamp do its thing for about 10 hours before taking it off this morning. I can see and tell a noticeable improvement. No flex. But only time will tell if this did the trick or not. So far after 3 hours it has not come up at the corner.

will HTC really replace the phone over this corner issue? i dont think im going to be able to get the drywall out of my phone and its really bugging me, its wedged in theere HARD. hard enought to make the body of the phone flex away from the side of the screen......and there some thin plastic layer between the phone body and the side of the screen.....which i have messed up by trying to scrape the drywall out with a knife. boo. phone works perfectly but i hate the cosmetic issues

Have other people been having the screen coming up problem? Mine is so severe that I can see light bleed on the bottom right hand corner. Wonder if it's covered by AT&T warranty
I just started having this same proble.I am TIIIIIIIRRRRRREEEDDDDD of ATT's crap though. I have been on the phone with them for 32 hrs in 38 days with now 4 different phones and I LOVE the Inspire. I am having the same issues now though where the screen is coming up and it's really really annoying. I mean REALLY annoying. I am thinking to just put an otter box defender on it and it will be fine? Can anyone confirm that the defender will keep the screen in place or any case for that matter?
I bought a silicon cover for $2 shipped off ebay and I didn't notice this issue until I just checked after reading this thread. The cover adds some serious bulk to the phone, but kept it from breaking when I dropped it from upper chest level on concrete (I'm 5'11"... and I swiped too far and caught the edge with my thumb. I almost cried).
P.S. It still hit hard enough to gouge the metal through the thick silicon
My battery cover is a little loose all of a sudden. at the bottom it now moves a little. When I squeeze (lightly, normal use amount) the phone at the bottom kinda clicks. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes. I called HTC and they're replacing it. But for now what you can do is put paper inside the case
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Yeah, several other people reported this problem on a Dutch forum. People should not open the backcover unless they really have to. After opening the cover a few times the cover is getting loose and starts to crack when you press it.
okay so I have the same problem, should I be worried or is it just the case with all sensation handsets ?
Take the cover off and press the battery. I think that's what it is...or maybe both.

I don't think that's it, the battery is fitted normally, and I've just tested it with battery removed, it does the same thing, I should mention that it isn't really that obvious, but it's an annoyance nonetheless, such an expensive phone to have a glitch like that.
can anybody confirm that it does loosen after some time of usage, I mean did it came like that out of the box or was it getting loose with time?
I just noticed this on mine this morning , will steal a new cover soon

I went to a tmobile store to see if they'll let me switch. The rep told me thy they can't switch cuz its an htc problem. Then he got curious and pulled out his sensation to see if his had it...
He looked so sad lol I just got off the phone with htc and my replacement cover is shipping soon and if the second one is defective then I have to send in my whole phone so they can check it out. You guys should call htc I'd you already haven't
I fixed mine by adding some paper to the back.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215096
Hey first post here! Signed up just to have my say on this issue, just as i did with the android central forum.
Also posted this on the android central forums...
Got the creaking here also, definitely a design flaw. Being obsessive with my devices i couldnt live with it!
I do not recommend putting paper in the cover to fill the gap, as this is just expanding the cover further making it even MORE loose when the paper is not in there. Also i wouldn't recommend it because the paper pushes the back cover out a little more, you may loose a connection for the ground. Which is the little metal springy thing, half way up the right hand side. Obviously its not a good idea to 'push' the cover further away from this ground spot. I have heard that people have had issues with screen responsiveness due to a static build up from not grounding properly.
What i did to fix this problem was a bit of a kitbash of sorts.
Mine was creaking on the bottom right area, like most. The problem is there is too much play between the little black catches on the battery cover and the latch on the handset. Instead of filling up the gap between the phone and the cover (Ala paper, card in the cover) I closed it!
What you need to do is get some very thin plastic film. Like that on kids toy packaging etc. Not the thicker stuff though. This stuff would be under 1mm thick. It came as a viewing window in the box my new wallet came in. So you can sorta imagine what im talking about.
I cut a piece about 10mm long and as wide as one of the two little black catches. I applied a VERY thin coat of super glue to one end of the film. Just enough to cover the area under the catch. Then i carefully placed the film with the superglue on it under the catch, and then quickly applied some pressure to it with some tweezers. Then i carefully cut the excess off with a pair of finely tipped nail scissors.
The result is that it now PULLS the screen/phone INTO the cover more by making the little black catch thicker. Not the opposite (paper method), which pushes the cover out, creating a further problem of adding more paper under the cover over time as the cover expands/loosens to compensate. Not to mention a possible grounding loss and resulting damage.
Hope this helps some people that have had multiple replacements or could not be bothered replacing for such a cosmetic issue. (Like me). It definitely works, just got to get your surgeon on and be accurate with your placement of the film.
Apply this to what ever side creaks the most, and bam its gone. Nice. Solid phone... again.
If anyone wants more specific details etc, im all ears.
Regards,
Matt.
MrSoulSOng A video explaining this fix would be appreciated ^_^ cuz I didnt buy my phone from here and I still gotta wait for about a month to send it to the shop to fix or get a replacement
...just an update...after buying new back cover from no1tech (that was month and a half ago...) there's no loose spots, no creacking...!
Very satisfied now I am. Finally phone feels and looks like it should be - beast in compact housing!
I have the very same problem too. VERY annoying
well I had the same problem however what i did was that on the back cover inside of it I put some black electric tape on to the sides that creak (next to the sides and the clips) and when I put the cover back on there was no creaking at all. figured it wont interfere with the single because people put cases on the back all the time plus its electric tape meaning it'll prevent from short circuits and I don't think there should be any overheating issue as its a very small quantity.
I hate the dust in the lines between the screen and phone edge so much I did the extreme. I covered all the areas with transparent sticking tape till I can find a case, silicone or similar that covers enough area to prevent further dust from going in! I tryed everything to clean it out, did it every day but without the wanted success. I will go nutts if dust gets under my screen. I iust hate this "feature" of this phone. Anyone else got a strategy against sthis? So far sticking tape seems to be my favorouite accessory (eye rolling).
I agree I hate seeing the buildup too. I have a TPU case that covers the edges but dust being dust is small enough to get under the case. In fact when I take the case off, I see a lot of buildup along the edges. I think the case just visually makes us feel better....in the main dust under the screen thread some people have tried sealing the edges with silicone and letting it dry over night. I don't know what sort of adverse effects this may have though.

I just clean my sensation once in a while.
Open it, just a bit of blowing air to the device and all dust is gone for another week
But atm it is away for an exchange due to dust under the display cover.
And I will exchange it again if the dust comes back again
Im having this issue and it made me worry too.
Afraid the more dust accumulated will end up being under my screen where many ppl experienced.
The dust is more on the left side, as the gap is bigger compare to right side
It is a pain getting phones exchanged here. I would not dare trying putting silicone in there. But then again maybe the glue from stick tape can get in there too.
Were you talking aboit somehow removing screen cover when you say you open it up @sniperde? I don't suppose so...
I know phone exchanges are a pain in the ass but if i notice one little spec of dirt under my screen my sensation is getting mailed right back to htc for a brand spanking new one. my one year warranty expires june 24 2012 and on june 23 i will be getting a new one just because of this.

goodluck with that
well, i just use plastic tooth pick with a sharp flat edge to clean the dusts.
not that efficient, but it works, clean my SS a bit from time to time.
I hate the dust in the lines between the screen and phone edge so much too!!!
It doesn't bother me that much so long as it stays there. My original sensation went back due to lots of dust under the screen after only 4 days. This one has been fine for Weeks, not a speck under it. Dust under the screen was a problem with my Desire too.
I see no dust...

Since last week I've suddenly been plagued by a filthy layer of grease accross the screen of my phone. It covers about 80% of the screen surface with just a few areas towards the edges where it doesn't reach.
No matter how many times I think I've wiped it off, as soon as I begin touching the phone again, it quickly reappears. It has a somewhat cloudy / misty appearance with a tendency to accentuate normal fingerprint and grease marks ten fold compared to previous. It looks disgusting and is seriously spoiling my enjoyment of the phone.
It began towards the end of our recent holiday. I've got two guesses as to what may have caused it. The first possibility is having immediately touched the screen with dirty hands after eating a KFC chicken meal (very greasy). The other is a somewhat vague recollection of accidentally slobbering a drop of toothpaste onto it late one evening, which if I'm correct may have damaged the materials within the screen?
I've become very frustrated with the way it looks and am beginning to contemplate some drastic measures in attempt to clean it.
I'm considering using isopropyl alcohol. I know a lot of people warn against it but on the whole the evidence I've found suggests many have used it previously without encountering any noticeable problems. Even on modern smartphones with digitisers like ours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as its driving me crazy seeing my phone like this and a simple dry micro fibre cloth has proved insufficient to clear it permanently.
Id love to help but never faced such a situation usually when i eat some mcdonalds and touch the screen i can notice the grease and all that but after i use a wiping cloth and it does the job

Yeah I'm starting to think that the toothpaste theory is how it actually happened. It's resembling a similar appearance to what my old Nokia 5800 went like after I naively attempted to remove a scratch from it's screen using toothpaste. Very murky and almost powdery looking dirt that refused to go away.
It's as though the grease is 'locked in' to the screen. I can wipe the screen and temporarily everything appears back to normal again. That is until a few minutes into using it once more that it goes back to looking like someone has thrown it into the chip pan!

i've used rubbing alcohol and it's worked fine. You can try peroxide i think ( i haven't tried peroxide...)
usually a microfiber cloth does the trick. Make sure your fingers are clean when you use it again, your hands have a lot of oil on them...
That has got to be one of the best topic titles I've read on this site.
i was imagining a scenario where you accidentally tipped your chicken into toothpaste instead of hot sauce and somehow a piece of toothpaste chicken fell onto your phone
Lol title! Use glasses cleaner and a microfiber cloth!
