in EU version of the HTC HD2 it turned that it had more internal memory than originally announced..
Therefore are there any hidden features which are not enabled in the Sensation?
So far, hardware realted, just one:
EVO 3D's battery (which has slightly higher capacity) can be used in Sensation.
If there are hidden features to be "unlocked", it will be easier to find them out after the bootloader has been unlocked by HTC next month.
We know of an internal memory of 3gb that are hidden in order to increase performance....

There is a discussion in the dev forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168521
Edit I think that is the wrong one, I'll try to find the right thread
That's STORAGE memory, not RAM. They won't make a difference in performance. HTC website lists that the Sensation has 4GB internal storage, but so far only 1GB is available for user.

Okay thank you for that. I noticed you were American and therefore thought you meant an American release date.
I suppose once HTC release software to unlock the bootloader of the international version, developers here would figure out how to do it on the US version. Afterall the hardwares are mostly the same, the time gap that HTC stated probably has to do with their dealings with the carriers.
I think htc may hide 256M RAM.

or maybe the Sensation is really a Decepticon
Yes, the Sensation is actually running Winmo 5 with a Sense 3.0 skin.
Mine cloaked itself and now I can't find it
It's not really a hidden hardware feature, but a cool easter egg for gamers.
Under Personalize/Lock Screen, the third option is for the Friends Stream.
If you actually read the post, it's by Jill Valentine, and she's recounting the events of Resident Evil 3! Wonder if Capcom have seen this yet!

My thoughts are they put the bigger battery to overclock the phone to 1.5. However i believe it is the same hardware inside. Can someone confirm the Processor?

Actually the processor is a native 1.5 but HTC downclocked it to 1.2 (I would presume due to battery life concerns). With a larger battery they can now bring the clock speed up to where it is designed to run.
What caught my eye was, well the main feature of the article: the audio. Will HTC finally manage to make a passable speakerphone?
Yep the CPU listed is the same one that is in the current Sensation (Qualcomm 8260).

Its just a ploy to sell headphones to people...I wouldnt be one bit surprised to learn that our phones are exactly the same and that HTC has the "upgrades" all hidden from us. That, or the specs are wrong...
I mean, why make another so similar and so soon?
Matt
Well... it would have been nice if we have 4GB memory on board.
Hopefully the new battery would fit into our sensations.
I can't believe how fooled some people have been. If you guys actually read the article and look at that details sheet, it's pretty clear that they only mention Beats Audio headphones and nothing about onboard audio actually being improved. I would bet a lot of money that it has the stock speaker, and that the only "Beats" part of the package is the headphones.
"Multimedia super phone, now with beats headsets to enhance your music experience."
"Beats in-ear headset in-box for superior acoustic performance, making sure you get an uncompromised multimedia experience. Also comes with remote control so you don't need to take your phone out of your pocket to adjust."
"High-fidelity audio experience -- the phone is fine tuned to work with the Beats headset to automatically optimize sound quality."
Noticing a pattern? Any time it describes audio, it only describes the headset. The only time it describes the actual phone in relation to audio, it's to note that the phone is "fine tuned" to work with the headset. Nothing about onboard audio or if the crappy stock speaker is improved.
Just wanted to point this out because I feel that just because people hear "Beats Audio" they instantly assume onboard sound is Beats, when the sad truth may be that they're just pairing the phone with Beats headphones (and know that by marketing it as a Beats special edition or something along those lines people will think the onboard audio is improved).
Do you think we will be able to get the battery from the special edition, flash the rom and have our processors clocked @ 1.5Ghz?

Apparently the special edition is supposed to be a bit thicker to fit the battery. So you probably can get the battery if you also get the thicker battery cover. But who cares anyway since we can get the Chichitec or Anker batteries that are 1900mAh (whether or not you think they get the full 1900mAh, tests have shown they at least get 1730mAh). We can't yet overclock (I'm talking true dual-core support overclocking) properly, but we should be able to soon. So basically, we can make our normal Sensation's into these special editions by getting a higher capacity battery, getting nice headphones, and overclocking once it's available (the only thing we can't match is the internal storage bump). Hardly a special edition if by adding accessories and mods to your standard edition you can make it essentially equivalent.
Man that's some straight up bull**** for real..

Hello Everyone,
I work for Ericsson and these days we are working on LTE testing for At&t. They have provided us with a HTC Device called "HTC Waikiki". I think its the phone which at&t will later release by the name of HTC Holiday.
it has a 1.2 ghz dual core processor, I gb ram, 8mp back camera, 1.3 mp front camera and 4.5 inch qHD display.
Following are some of the pics which i was able to capture for it. I have also attached the pic for the kernal and radio used by the device for that LTE speeds. If we can use that to boost up speeds on our phones (i.e. inspire 4g for me)
Or if you guys require me to check some specific things on it, i can do that too.
Is there any word on a release date?

Early rumors were for 1.5ghz dual procs, but I'll take anything right now.
AT&T in Austin gets LTE next month.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Ah, there it is. :O
For the unanswerable questions:
Is HTC Waikiki going to be the official name? Will it be released around November? Will it only be released in LTE markets? How much will it cost?
For the real questions:
Does it have support for HDMI out? How is the gaming? Is there lag or is it butter smooth in the menus, browser? Can you run some quadrant and linpack benchmarks? I thought the device had 1.5GHz processor! :O
Sorry for the bugging you, mate! I'm just so excited.

HTC will have a major flagship device hitting Verizon shelves in the fall. It’s said to feature a whopping 5-inch 1080p HD display (a non-PenTile screen), a new chipset that includes a quad-core Krait CPU and an Adreno 320 GPU, HTC Sense 5 and a Scribe pen. Yes, HTC is launching a Galaxy Note competitor.

I agree with this, when I went to the ICS ROMs I got about a 25-30% battery improvement, making it unnecessary to buy a larger battery. The lack of an SD (or XD!) slot is the killer for me. They are not going to put enough "virtual SD" memory in the phone to satisfy me, and I am not into major cloud storage. They are not going to pay my internet bill or put in more damned towers so I can get H+ to sync 32+ gigs of data, and I want my data on my system.
As for Sense 5, meh. They will go through 4.1 and then probably 4.5, 4.6, then maybe 5.0.
hopefully sense 5 will be stripped down even more

Although the Inspire 4G will not get its own version of ICS it is looking like the Telus Desire Hd is expecting the update on July 25th. Keep in mind, the DHD has it's own thread. And if this turns into a DHD specific thread, I will delete it. Post your comments in the correct forum.
Thanks MD. As many do and SOME do not know there is a big difference between the European Desire HD forum and what the Telus Desire HD has to offer. This is the appropriate forum. A Telus Desire HD ROM means a ROM that will work 100% on the Inspire without need for porting or modification.
Just came across this on another XDA section about a different phone where it was gladly welcomed. Again this IS NOT just another DHD getting ICS thread.
Telus based ICS ROMs will be the way to go. If you are S-OFF, for ICS ROMs I strongly advise flashing the Telus ICS radio, and to flash the appropriate RIL to go with it every time you flash a new ROM.

God this discussion gets old. BOTH have a 4GB storage space on there. This leaves both with ~1.5GB of user space left which ATT even takes up space. It is an interpretation problem with the specs. You can argue as much as you want, this is what is physically inside both phones when you disassemble them. 4GB before and ~1.5GB after, those two web pages were probably written by a different engineer when given to the website manager.
Get a cheap sd card and dont worry about it lol
It's AT&Ts doing, really. Look at the pagez for the Vivid and One X. The Vivid is said to have 16GB. That is true, however, really when you open the box and turn it on you have 3.81GB for apps, and 8.83GB for phone storage, totalling 12.64GB. The rest is taken up by Android and various preinstalled bloatware. The One X is setup very similarly. What is listed and what you have out of the box are different, but AT&T wants them listed at their maximum storage capacity, and not real world capacity. They do it to their other phones as well, whether it be a Samsung, HTC, or Motorola, etc. It is not related to manufacturer preference, but carrier preference.

I'm trying to figure out if I should get a Sensation, or if there is some similar HTC device that is even more popular or more representative. I have the two OneX's but those use TI and Qualcomm FM/BT/WiFi combo chips, and I want the more common and popular Broadcom, ideally the BCM4330 or later/similar chips.
Similar audio chips/systems would be good too.
A device that will get an official ICS update would be even better, but AFAICT we don't know about that yet. HTC really annoyed me with the Desire HD broken promise.
I see half-broken units good enough for my use on EBay in the $150 area...
Thoughts ? Thanks !

Hi,
I would say the Sensation is an extremely popular phone, with good current support from a variety of Developers.
Even as people move on to other phones, others are buying up the second hand phones.
So, you would not be short of customers here.
The other very popular phone here in Germany is the Sensation XL and the Sensation is not very popular here in Germany

Thanks. I try to estimate popularity by numbers of forum posts or views.
"Plain" Sensation seems pretty good, but Evo 3D seems even higher, especially for the Sprint CDMA version.
Always seems to be this issue of variants, CDMA/GSM and XE/XL etc. which can make for a whole different phone development wise.

Germany is my best market, per capita.
But unfortunately my "post count" check on the forums isn't anywhere near comparable.
Of course it came out later (right?) but I'm sure total numbers are still much higher.
And I prefer getting older phones that are cheaper on EBay.
Android "fragmentation" affects me greatly, due to the low level hardware specific requirements. So I have 15 different devices in my "test fleet" now. And I'm trying to be very picky when it comes to additions, as it's difficult to manage so many.
