Is there a way to change the bluetooth kernel on the Infuse? Reason is, the Infuse and my car bluetooth are not very stable, it requires for me to keep unpairing and pairing just to get it to connect. I used to have the Captivate and it worked really well. So my question is, is there a way to use the Captivate bluetooth kernel on the Infuse? Thanks in advance.
theres no such thing as a bluetooth kernel. not sure what you are mistaking it for. driver? radio?
Bluetooth is -part- of the kernel
What does at&t advertise the Bluetooth version as?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997
sorry for double post
but at&t and a few other websites advertise as BT v2.1 when the chipset is bcm4330, which supports v3.0 bluetooth(captivate, among a lot of other phones, used bcm4329)
i'd say just when gingerbread kernel source rolls out it'll be updated and you -should- have better connection
I have Infused 1.5.0 installed. Sorry, not familiar with BT if it's kernel, driver or radio. Maybe BT stacks? Im guessing the BT version is 2.0? Kernel version on the phone is 2.6.32.9. I guess what I want to know if it's possible to extract the BT on the Captivate and use it on the Infuse.

Hmm, i hope you're right because my Captivate running Froyo was still stable compared to the Infuse.
i know the chipsets are right
its in the kernel
i do not know of any other phone that has this
EDIT correction the chipset supports BT 4.0

Hey all. I got my Roger's Magic in route from Canada to the US and should get it in the next few days. I am excited to finally ditch this devil iPhone.
The #1 thing I use my phone for is web surfing, so I need the surfing experience to be top quality and better than what I already have. I have used a stock G1 and it is certainly not up-to-par. However, from the videos I have seen of the Magics and Heros with MultiTouch and Flash, that is obviously the way to go for me.
Q: Is there a non-Hero rom out that has both MultiTouch and Flash for the Roger's Magic?
I say non-Hero rom because I see that there are a variety of bugs with the Hero rom, including bluetooth headsets. If there are not any roms out then I will try whatever the latest/greatest Hero rom is.
Q: Is there any roms out since the release of the 2.0 Doughnut OS to developers a couple days ago?
I noticed that the release notes for 2.0 include multitouch, but I do not know about flash. If I can get Android + Multitouch + Flash and keep all functionality of the phone working, that will be perfect. I can probably live without Sense UI till they get the kinks worked out.
Sorry for the long post!
side note: if you order a rogers magic and you are on tmobile you will not get 3g, just edge... and if you are on at&t then you will get 3g.
Q1: no, atleast not yet because multitouch on g1 roms is all done thru the kernel, we have to wait will htc releases the kernel sources... which is soon(or never). or for someone to figure out how to compile the kernel.
Q1: don't think so.
You'll have to go with one of the Hero builds, the only "bug" for bluetooth is file transfer which isn't a bug it's to do with the kernel.
Doughnut is not 2.0, and it is not multitouch someone jumped the gun on that. The only multitouch we have as of right now is through the Sense UI builds.

Excuse me for being stupid but I can't, for the love of God, figure out how the multitouch works on the Hero ROMs. I have the JACHeroski ROM on a 32A Magic.
I am used with the multitouch on the iPhone where you zoom in and zoom out with 2 fingers. Is this supposed to work the same? I tried it in the Browser and Google maps and nothing happened.

Works the same, in maps though. Browser and pictures work perfect, back to Finality 1.2.

In the maps it doesn't work for me. In Pictures it does. Browser works as well.
google maps doesn't use multitouch... yet

I can certainly live with no file transfer, since I don't use that anyways. I was going by the information on the wiki to determine that Bluetooth headsets didn't work. I guess that the wiki is quickly outdated.
How does one sort through these threads to find one that is the best working Hero - Rogers - Magic rom? It seems like there may be several available.
Thanks again!
Which Hero rom supports BT headsets? Finality 1.4 does not and that is my current rom.
Sorry I miss typed, browser and pictures work with multi touch nothing else.

Finality 1.2 works for bluetooth headsets for me, 1.4 did not so I reinstalled the 1.2 ROM. It's a bit buggy compared to 1.4 but I like to use the Bluetooth in my car.

Oh no, so the wiki is right after all about BT Headsets not working
Hello,
I've read all I can here. Sorry if its been posted before. I love the Cognition ROMs and am keen to try out HSUPA (JG8 modem?) on one of the more recent versions.
The lower pings and faster upload is so tempting. Looks like the Geomod ROM will break bluetooth streaming / phone calls which I also need.
Anyone done this - and had any luck? Any guides on how to do this - how to enable and find different bands (850Mhz, etc..) and how to return to stock modem (JPP) as needed? ....
Ideally I'd like to switch modems... JG8 vs JPP with my Cognition ROM.
Thanks anyone who might have advice!

Please search within the Captivate sub-forums to find the answer to this question. It has been discussed in great detail already, and there are quite a few step-by-step guides floating around.
Just to point you in the right direction though: To get HSUPA working with any 2.2 ROM (at least so far) you need to flash the JG8 modem FIRST before any other modem interacts with FroYo. This "enables" the 850 MHz band which you will need if you plan on using 3G w/ AT&T in America. Then you can flash the HSUPA enabled modem of your choice after (I prefer JPP, but others will work). Also, it's worth noting that i9000 radios (which all of the HSUPA enabled ones are) tend to play better with i9000 kernels. Meaning that if you are running cognition, you may want to switch to a i9000 kernel to go with the i9000 radio you are trying to install.
Happy searching!
After much reading, searching, study and experiment I'm reasonably sure you can't get hsupa AND bluetooth working on a captivate rom, like cognition. I've only been able to get both on an i9000 rom.
Using doc's for cappy by mikeymike with the setiron kernel. Both work, the bluetooth not always well. The unfortunate part of this one is that wired headsets are fubar. Don't work at all. Other than that, the rom works great.
You NEED an i9000 reorient kernel (not ROM) for voice. As you noted, data works fine, but wait till you make a call.
You can pair cognition with an i9000 kernel, however, you may have weird bugs.
Best option is to use i9000 ROM + i9000 reorient kernel + i9000 modem, all froyo.
Jg8 is eclair and only used temporarily to enable 850 mghz.

Just got a tweet from GalaxySSupport saying that the Captivate will be getting Froyo tomorrow. Think I will stick with my custom rom.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate
I'll upgrade my wife's and see how that goes before I go back to stock.
I honestly don't know why you'd stick with your custom, it does not have the official source for our phone, just a well hacked up version from other phones. i don't have a computer so I can't flash very often. I've done it once, but from what I read, everyone seems to be happy with what the devs have been able to do with a makeshift source. btw this is my first post, but i've been reading for about 4 months. lol
I should clarify. I'm going to stick with roms like Phoenix or others, and update to a Rom that will be based off official source. I don't want to lose things like Mobile AP (for free at least) and the lag fixes. I might try the official release down the road, but I doubt I will stay with it.

I've been sticking with stock because I've been reading alot of issues with bluetooth headset. Unfortunately I use that with my car (built-in bluetooth) and I really like that so I'd rather not lose it...

It works fine in some ROMS. ie Ryude Precision 3.5. I haven't tested BT dialing on my current ROM, but everything else with BT is working fine on Cognition 4.0. Just an FYI
BT dialing works fine for me on Andromeda 1.2.
ill flash back to stock, than back to custom cus i know the devs will come out with something farrrrr more b!tchen
That is awesome. Cool thing is, though, we should be seeing CM7 for the Cappy next week. We'll be on 2.3 while everyone else just updated to 2.2.

Supernova confirmed working with BT in car.
Several 2.2.1 roms will also enable bluetooth dialing from a headset which you can't do from stock.
I waited waited and waited until last sunday when I flashed serendipity on my captivate. Looking at the speed, UI and performance I will wait to see if the official froyo is any better (i doubt it). If it is impressive then I will flash back to stock (JF6) and update to froyo through kies mini but not happening tomorrow

Does this mean source has been put out too? I thought GB/CM7 isnt possible until that comes out? The official release just means more Samsung based ROMS if im not mistaken
Serendipity is too cool..not going to go for the official froyo

I've been using Preception 10.3 and it works fine with my bluetooth. They announced they would not be continuing development on Perception but I like what i have. I'll keep it until the Devs cook up something after they get the official source.
it's probably the same froyo that congnition 4 is based on...and with the lagfix on, and the really awesome roms and kernels available here...i m sure the stock froyo would suck!!!
and btw it wont be long before at&t and samsung pull down the froyo page cause of "bug fixes"..aha

Nevermind the bloat and stock Samsung look, both suck in comparison to the work that some of the devs have done on this forum. It would be downgrading to go to stock 2.2 from a custom 2.2.1 ROM. Lol and like previous post who know knows how long ATT will actually have an Official release out before it starts bricking phones...
I'm searching or trying to understand if there is a way to enable a six axis ps3 controller to be used as IME (for emulation games), i've read somwhere that the INFUSE needed to have CYANOGEN but at this time, CYANOGEN isn't completely ready, i am running Infused v1.5.3 i'm hesitant to go to v2 beta 2.0+ didn't see any reviews or difference compared to 1.5.3 it's already stable as it is. Can somebody confirmed these statements or give me and idea how to get this started? Thanks i LOVE XDA on always checking for new updates and info.
Thanks in advance for any response!!!
Sorry man, its samsungs Bluetooth stack that prevents this and the only way to get Google bt stack is vannilla rom's such as cyanogenmod
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
i would like to find a way to make this stuff work....that blueputdroid stuff just doesnt like samsung. im guessing for the reasons the guy above said about the stacks.
but this would be a good look.
Doesn't work on any Samsung -derived rom. Worked briefly on our CM7 build, but bluetooth broke GPS and battery life. Bozo and I are gonna try again to get BT in a week or two.

Hello all, so I have rooted and used a few roms on my phone, but went back to stock so the video recorder worked properly. But the camera issues have taken a back seat. I am a trucker and sit for hours at loading docks, so thought Id get some emulators, and a wii mote and classic controller.
First off my phone is on Rogers in Canada, model sgh-i997R, firmware 2.3.3, kernal 2.6.35.7-i997ruxkg3-cl366622, build number gingerbread.uxkg3
My questions are : Seems the last last OS to support wiimotes is 4.1.2. Am I correct in this?
Through searching, I have found these roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859208&highlight=+4+1+2 which seems dead with broken links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954527&highlight=+4+1+2 seems ok
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874000&highlight=4+1+2&page=45 which is locked, and last posts are talking bout just barely getting it to boot, doesnt seem too stable.
Am I missing any? I realize its an older OS so my options may be limited.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Edit: Also going to install a Tab 2 into my car, and will be using phone to tether it to for wifi, so good tethering capabilities is also important in a rom. Any suggestions?

Because from what I am reading, the last OS version to support a wiimote is 4.1.2
4.2 and higher no longer works with a wiimote. I have froyo now but it doesnt support it either. Something about samsungs bluetooth stack doesnt let it connect.

I'd say flash 4.2.2 and try it out for yourself. If it doesn't work, it isn't hard at all to flash back to 4.1..
