has anyone noticed that after a reboot, cpuspy is reporting negative percentages? a quick reset of the timers fixes this but it's kind of annoying because it's not the first thing you think of after booting up.

what's the difference? resetting clears the stats

Resetting does not clear the stats. It just restarts the timers. Looks like the code starts subtracting some time based on when u reset and what's the real time since boot. Well, this is what I have noticed. So when u reboot after resetting, the app still has some where stored to subtract values from new real values.
E.g.,
real value: 10 hours
you reset here
after 1 hour:
real value: 11 hours
reset value: 1 hour (11 - 10)
rebooted here
real value: 0
reset value (since it is still stored as reset): 0-10 = -10 hours

Is this normal in WM5? CPU usage is 70% all the time (even after hard reset) and games are running very slowly. Is it problem in my device or is it normal. Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for any help

70 % remaining or used?
Not normal, which application eats the cpu?
70% used (in XCPUScalar)... when I look into DRrunning apps it shows that idle proceses are using 75-85 cpu usage.

This is normal, it takes around 15% to show cpu usage.
Ok but it is normal that every game has really poor framerate? Even my friend with mda 1 has now better performance than me...

Nope, but which rom do you have? Have you a lot of background apps? What is the status of the memory?

I am using C_shekhars ROM (24 pagepool, 40 ramdisk)
As I said it is doing it even after hard reset with no apps. I have almost 50MB free program memory now. I think thats enough for a game like worms world party, so problem must be somewhere else.
why not try without XCPUScalar
maybe it's underclocking the device
I did hard reset and everything seems to be fine now... really strange because I tried hard reset several times. I'll install apps one by one and find that one which is responsible.
Thx for all help

What tool are you using to show cpu usage ?
Most of the time, only showing the cpu usage takes around 15% of the cpu!
Cheers,

i am using DFRunningApps (Task Manager v1.9) which is come with current

Yeap, as I mentioned earlier. Showing the CPU usage with TM takes around 15 % because it is updated every second.

This is an excellent idea.
XCPUScalar does not properly store your settings when toggling 'dynamic' mode on or off - the process is this:
1. set dynamic on, then set up your cpu vs load speed ranges
2. EXIT xcpuscalar
3. launch it again
4. set dynamic off, then exit
5. start again
6. choose a speed for when the machine is charging on the first page (the slider above 'dynamic' mode toggle)
7. exit
8. start again, turn on dynamic mode
9. exit
10. DONE! it's now safe to run, and will remember your settings
this bit me in the ass for a long time. sometimes it would underclock so hard I couldn't answer calls - other times, it was running at 500mhz and giving me about 2 hours on a full charge.
XCPUScalar won't let you configure everything at once. it's great when you get over that.
I had unchecked the alarm so that it would not go off. It was still set for the day and it still when off at the time. Then I unchecked the days and it still went off, and the otherday. I changed the time an alarm from 1 to 4 and it still when off at 1 and then at 4.
And sometimes it will go off an hour early.
Any ideas?

Not sure if I understood.
You mean that despite your tries to deactivate it, the alarm remains active (and, maybe, even if it marked as deactivated in the screen)?

Yes, and also it goes off at old set times that had been changed.
Example - was set to 1 it's now set to 4, it goes off at 1 AND 4.

Hi!
My auto brightness keeps resetting it selfs back to manual brightness.
Does anyone know why?
Mine does that too, usually when I go into Settings. I know other people have had trouble with it resetting after using the camera.

Are you using the same ROM as me?
I have not updates to 401.3 just because i'm lazy... maybe this problem has been fixed in this newer version....?!

+1 same here. Every time that my phone power dips below a certain number it disables auto brightness and puts the brightness to full, which is not only annoying, it is counter intuitive. I've tried changing my brightness to something low before enabling auto brightness, in hopes that when the phone disables auto brightness on low power it will move to a low brightness state, but that doesn't do anything either. It still goes to full brightness when battery levels get low enough.

Same for me, so what I do is use the dimmer app, and so when my power gets low and the brightness goes to full, I click the widget and it turns the brightness down to minimum.
I've got the same problem, and I am just using the default HTC sense software, no custom firmware flashed.
try clearing data. it must be a stale config in your settings

Clear what and where?
I think they mean in settings/applications/manage applications/all
But Im not sure if they mean the HTC sense software entries, to clear the data for those. Be warned though, I think this will reset all your settings and customizations.

That we don't want I'll wait for a new ROM and meantime i keep my eyes on this manually!
In fact, after the last update, the performance became faster and smoother. The programs quickly opened up. That's good.
but unfortunately the battery is draining more quickly.
And heat during charging has returned ?
I am on Security patch - 1 November 2018 as well.
And as soon as the phone restarted after the backup, the memory card showed up "corrupted" / Format to fix or use the card - error.
Thankfully, google photos backup saved the data..
But, this is bad.
Edit- Yes, Charging is really rapid.. and heats up the phone significantly more than before..
I have been in contact with Nokia's support department and said that the battery's rapid discharge is due to the adaptive battery. This will take a week or two to learn and then the battery will return as it was before

I did a factory reset and the draining is gone immediately, so I don't think they're right

And I also think that because I am not convinced.
Factory reset seems to be the best thing we do after every update.

Thanks. Support team Provide the following advice: while the screen is on. Press the Volume Up button + Power button for at least 10 seconds until I feel a vibration.
(The charger is unplugged). This is called a soft restart. I think the problem has been solved

Remove unwanted apps and wanted apps, have only system apps and 2 or 3 installed apps. Phone won't heat. And this is how I keep my phone cool. Bad apps makes heating issue, for instance if I install klwp app and give access to contact and phone calls log. Phone will get warm. Or remove unwanted permissions for all the installed apps and see if it helps.

i suggest also get in settings/battery/adaptive, keep auto switch, but ALSO manually restrict ALL apps you don't need work in background...
I think the adaptive battery affects performance and does not help improve the battery. So i've disabled it and put all the programs in the list of blocked apps.that will help to save the battery.
Now i have the best performance...
Has anyone observed apps refreshing very often when multi-tasking. This issue is happening post-November update.
I love this phone. But now I'm having trouble freezing the screen. very annoying
Is there anyway to reset both above?
Think I messed up Optimised Charging as I've been using it more often, but now with my sleeping pattern getting better, I can't see it charging to 80% anymore, so I was wondering if there is a way to reset it than reset your whole phone again along with Adaptive brightness

Try to clear data of the app "Device Health Services". You'll find it under settings-->apps and notifications--> All apps
